- SARAH: Previously on "The Real World."

- So I've been told that everyone's aware of the project

that you're gonna do?

- Our special project is to build a playground.

- LANDON: This design that we're gonna do for

the playground is so me.

This is what I've been going to school for.

- Well, here's my thing.

Hanging out with you when you're drunk is really no fun.

- LANDON: I've had a little trouble, like,

getting used to everything.

I think during the day, I'm really quiet.

At night, when I get drunk and lose my inhibitions,

then I become, like, complete opposite.

- This is the true story--

- --of seven strangers--

- MJ: Oh, my god!

--picked to live in a house--

- --work together, and have their lives taped--

- --to find out what happens-- I'm over it.

- MJ: Are you well off? Is your family well off?

- No. My dad was a roofer, like, in the summers, you know?

'Cause he's a teacher and he had, like, three months off.

A lot of my work ethic comes from my father.

He would be just...

hot as hell out, and we'd be up on the roof, shingling.

And, you know, I'm like, , years old, and he's just like,

"If you're not gonna work, I'm not gonna pay you."

- It sounds like you just worked for all your money.

- I think we all work hard.

That's kind of like how I grew up.

Like, get on with it.

- [traffic]

- [indistinct chatter, laughter]

- This place is a dump, Willie. It is a dump.

- Jason, don't even go there. - JASON: Willie, no.

If it wasn't for me, this place would be so much worse.

It would not even be tolerable.

Shavonda and Landon have never cleaned a dish ever!

- If Willie has a problem, then he should come to me instead of

yelling when he's drunk the fact that he thinks his roommates are

irresponsible and can't pick up after themselves.

- Six pigs picked to live in a house.

- The cleaning is not getting done.

And I cannot live like that.

It's not an issue of somebody doing it or not doing it.

I cannot walk around in this heat with this mess everywhere.

It's terrible. It's disgusting.

- SARAH: Oh my god.

I can't believe our house is clean.

- KARAMO: Tired? - Yeah.

I've been cleaning for four hours.

- You're going to sleep? - Probably.

That's what I am, you know? I'm MJ's wingman.

And he's my wingman.

And we're there together. And we party together.

He's there for me, and I'm there for him.

And that's--it's understood. It's, like, guy code, you know?

- LANDON: Mm-mm-mm-mm!

- Landon? You are being really loud.

- I know, Sarah. The soup burned me.

- I'm tired. I've been cleaning all day.

I just...really wanna get some sleep.

- LANDON: Well, then, last night,

I was up 'till : last night with Willie.

Noise carries in this house. Willie was here last night.

What's the deal? - SARAH: Am I Willie?

- WILLIE: Why do you keep saying my name?

- Because you kept me up 'til : last night, Willie.

- WILLIE: I kept you up? - Yeah.

- WILLIE: How? - Because you were talking loud.

- SARAH: Why didn't you stick your head over

and say something? - Because that's not me.

- WILLIE: I'm in bed. I'm trying to sleep.

I'm listening what's happening

between Sarah and Landon for this whole time.

Apparently he was upset that the previous night,

I was up late and I was loud.

- SARAH: I spent $ today in cleaning supplies.

I spent four hours. That means--

- That is your choice. That is your choice.

You came on and started bitching at me.

- All I'm asking him to do is be quiet.

He's making personal...

attacks on me.

- Oh, oh, no, no, no!

- MJ: Landon has issues surrounding things that people

do in the house, and is very internal with stuff,

and lets them build up.

And it is very obvious that's not the best way to handle that.

- LANDON: You're right. I mean, I am [unintelligible].

It's totally true!

- Don't talk to me ever.

- [bleep] off. - You're such an a*s.

- ♪

- SARAH: I'm not talking to him anymore.

- WILLIE: I don't know what man tells a woman to [bleep] off.

That's completely rude, especially when she just spent

four hours scrubbing the scum off of your shower stall.

- Willie last night kept us up 'til :.

He's down here at night, saying to his friends,

"I don't think Mel, Karamo, Shavonda, or Landon

have ever cleaned a dish in their life."

And it makes me so mad. Makes me so mad.

- You've never have stood up for yourself.

- It's not my--it's not me.

I just don't do that. - But you have to.

I'm trying to tell Landon that the way that's--number one,

you gain respect from people is letting people know

whenever you're upset and exactly how you feel.

- SARAH: MJ? Come here.

Can you come here?

- ♪

- SARAH: Why is he being so rude to me?

- Whenever somebody's upset at Landon,

it's like they come to me

because Landon and I are buddies.

And it puts me in an awkward situation because I can see

where both sides are coming from.

It just feel like at times, from what he said to me,

that he feels attacked. - SARAH: By me?

- It's not all about you at all. It's not all about you.

He heard you talking about cleaning last night and, like,

mentioned his name.

He--he has not confronted you about that.

- WILLIE: About what? - Coming in and being loud.

- He didn't say anything to me.

- MJ: Exactly, 'cause he doesn't confront it.

So tonight-- - Well, that's not my problem.

- I think that it's his stuff that has, like,

built up that makes him-- - Built up?

Well, it still hurts when someone says those things

to you, especially when you spend so much time--

- Last night, had someone told me or one of my friends that

we're being a little bit loud, that's all that had to be said.

It would have been done. That's it.

- ♪

- LANDON: I don't enjoy waking up and being like, oh, man,

like, you know, I need to apologize.

- Last night? - He was being a real big a*s--

Landon only has himself to blame

in terms of the feelings that he's harboring inside.

Landon has to be the person

that confronts his demons and controls his rage.

He's the only one who can do that.

- Exactly.

- ♪

- ANTHONY: All right. - Hi, Anthony.

- How are ya? What's happening?

- WILLIE: Anthony is on the board of

the Northern Home for Children.

And he will be supervising our playground project.

I just am gonna hand out to you some things.

Uh, a list of things that we wanna think about.

This is technically an assignment.

With a deadline

for uh, Tuesday at : AM, when I see you next--

- WILLIE: Anthony has given us this assignment to do.

And there's, like, seven problems we need to research.

- Come back to me with these things in writing.

- We want to do really, really, really well.

But, you know, we have, like, no idea what we're doing.

I mean, there's just a lot of details.

What do you want? Do you want a slide?

Do you want a drawbridge? Do you want a pole?

Do you want a gazebo? Do you want a fort?

Do you want wood? Do you want color?

[sighs] It's a bit much.

- Northern Home provides the boys with something to work for

in terms of...

um, being rewarded for their good behavior,

so they get to go on more field trips.

- I have not done this in probably years.

I think the whole house needs to get together

and work on this.

- I'm going to try to wake up the boys.

- MELANIE: Okay, I'm gonna do my homework.

- SHAVONDA: Get up! Get your a*s up!

- This report that we're doing for Anthony is a compilation of

safety issues of playgrounds, materials used, equipment used.

Everything that concerns a playground pretty much.

- MJ: I slept...hard.

Literally slept...hard.

Landon and I have decided to go into the office this evening

and get some work done on the project.

- I did the safety one, report.

- Is there anything that is left over?

- Hey, are you guys going to the office?

- Yeah. - Can I go?

- No! - Do some research.

- No girls allowed! - You don't like me!

Ever since I-- - Two computers, two dudes.

- No, I will be quiet. - We won't get any work done.

- SHAVONDA: I'll be quiet!

- Ugh!

- SHAVONDA: Landon! - LANDON: Yes?

- SHAVONDA: I'll be quiet. I can be your guys' secretary.

I can take phone calls.

- You can't. You can't be quiet.

- I can be quiet. I will. I won't say anything.

- ♪

This feels like it's gonna start raining, huh?

- Looks like we got a storm moving in here.

- I could've worn jeans.

- ♪

- MELANIE: [unintelligible]

I'm going along with Landon and MJ and Shavonda because

I like to be productive and do what I'm supposed to do.

- All right. Where--where's that little list?

We are in no way trying to do this

to make ourselves look better

or make any of the other roommates look worse.

It's just when the work's not done, somebody's gotta do it.

And everybody's kind of doing their own thing tonight.

So we take it upon ourselves to go in and knock it out.

I'm gonna do number six.

- SHAVONDA: I did number three.

- Um...

- When is this stuff due tomorrow?

- SHAVONDA: : AM.

- [thunder crashing]

- SARAH: Apparently, Shavonda, MJ, and Landon

went to the office to do the assignment.

- KARAMO: This is bull[bleep].

They left to go do the assignment,

and so we're not gonna have any input.

- Well, before they left, I asked them if there is

anything else left on the list so that I can do it.

And Landon said that no, it's okay.

That it's pretty much all covered.

- I bet you anything it was Landon's idea,

and Landon's like, "We're not gonna get this done!"

Ugh, you know how he is?

And then--and then, you know, MJ was like, "Yeah."

And then Shavonda was like, "I'll come,"

because she's a wh*re.

- ♪

- I'll put $ down that's exactly what went down.

- KARAMO: [chuckles]

- Landon mistrusts everybody else's ability

to do the job well.

I am slightly insulted he thinks that we're slackers,

and that's not true.

- I had a feeling that Landon

was solely going to take the lead on this.

And now, tomorrow in this meeting,

we're gonna be sitting there, not being able to really have

input because we didn't help out on the answers.

- ♪

- [bird chirping]

- [fly buzzing]

- [bike bell rings]

- ♪

- Oh, I don't wanna go to work!

- LANDON: Sarah, I'm gonna leave in five minutes,

just to let you know. - Okay. What time is it?

- It's, like, :.

I told everyone this morning--I'm like,

"I'm leaving at : with or without you."

It doesn't matter. Like, I'm just gonna be on time.

Oh, it is nice.

You know, like, that's what a job is.

You show up on time and then you leave on time.

- Landon!

And we're off.

- Thanks.

- How are we doing? How are we doing?

We gotta...hurry.

- MJ: Good morning! - Hi!

- MJ: We burned the late-night oil last night.

- Did you? How long were you guys--

- Uh, we--Landon and I-- - I was here 'til, like, :.

- Hey.

- Hi. - Hey.

- SARAH: Well, thank you for doing the stuff last night.

I really wish I could've helped. I'm not pissed about it.

Landon is kind of out for himself

when it comes to our job.

- Are Willie and Karamo are on their way?

- What? - Willie and Karamo, are they--

- Yeah. They're on their way.

- ♪

- How much longer do you think they'll be?

- Last time I was four minutes late,

the meeting had already started.

- You guys think we should start without 'em or wait?

We'll give them another minute.

- [clock ticking]

- LAURA: Just to start off, in terms of being late, um,

we need you guys to be on time.

I don't like being tough, you know what I mean?

I don't like being a disciplinarian,

so I just need to be on time.

But as for the document that you guys left on the table

this morning, you guys did a really great job.

So thank you very much for putting in the time

and the effort last night, and coming in and--and working hard.

So I really appreciate it.

- What I'd like to do is have you present to me each of

the modules that you've put in here.

Mel, what did you, uh, focus on?

- MELANIE: I focused, um, on safety issues, number four.

- ANTHONY: Safety? - MELANIE: Yeah.

- ANTHONY: Okay. MJ, what did you, uh--

- I did number six.

- WILLIE: Anthony goes around the table

and asks each and every one of us

exactly which part did we have most of the responsibility for.

- ANTHONY: Sarah? - SARAH: Um, I didn't really

focus on any of the questions.

- I am gagging because

I know that I'm about to look like an idiot.

- ANTHONY: How much time did you spend on this?

- Not much time, to be honest with you.

- We thought we were gonna divide it up by each question.

And when we asked what question can we do, we were told none.

Like, they're all covered. - ANTHONY: Did you read this?

- I didn't read it, actually.

- ANTHONY: You didn't. Ka-RAY-mo?

- Ka-RAH-mo, and I--I didn't

really participate in this at all.

- ANTHONY: Okay, any reason for that?

- Yeah, the same reason as Sarah and Willie.

- And did you read this?

- No. It wasn't presented to us.

- We weren't even given the chance.

- We just left it here last night.

- Okay. I need you to work better together.

Seven of you are collectively smarter than four of you.

- Let's take, um-- take five minutes,

go get a drink of water...

- [car horn honks]

- SHAVONDA: Okay, Karamo had an issue

that he wanted to talk about? - Oh, yeah.

I was pissed last night, and I was actually pissed today.

I hate coming into meetings and being unprepared.

- MELANIE: Um, I also just think Landon, like,

you kind of took it upon yourself

to decide for all of us.

Like, I wanted to include everyone.

I--I wasn't the one that said you don't need to come,

you don't need to come. - Can I put in my cents?

- Yeah, of course. - Okay.

First thing is, um, I'm really sick of being late

for one reason or another. It seems like we're always late.

The other thing is about this morning,

I'm sorry if you guys feel like you were left out.

It's not my fault if you guys are at home.

I'm not gonna wait around and hold somebody's hand.

- KARAMO: No one's asking you--

- MELANIE: Can I just say something very--

- I feel attacked, but I think it's absolutely, like,

silly and, like, stupid.

They're getting mad at me for doing their work.

But, like, I just--I just feel like we needed to get this done,

and it's done.

- MJ: And it's not like we got upset for you guys--

- It wouldn't have been done this morning if we wouldn't have

come over here and done it last night.

- KARAMO: No, it would've been done,

because I know that myself, Sarah, and Willie,

we were willing and ready to work yesterday evening.

Our whole thing was that I just want,

when we have group projects--I just want for us to be able to

work together so that we all feel like--

- And we will from here on out.

- If there's one thing-- guys, guys.

If there's one thing that we get out of this -minute meeting is

the minute we get a large assignment for the group,

the minute we get home, we sit,

meet, and allot responsibilities.

Cool? Done?

- ♪

- SHAVONDA: You look like something is bothering you.

I think Landon is very vulnerable.

I'm the one he talks to, and he tells me,

"Everything people do to me or say to me gets to me."

- Yeah, I--I care so much about what you guys think

that it's just tearing me apart,

the fact that you guys don't seem to like me, you know?

All of a sudden, I feel really alone here.

I--I just kind of feel like I don't matter to people.

- We--I--we love you.

Sarah loves you. It's just that night.

I woke up at the end of that argument the other night,

when Sarah was crying. - You know, it's just...

- SHAVONDA: With Sarah, I think it's just a lack of respect

that she's feeling from Landon.

- I know. - You wanna go in?

- Yeah, I wanna talk to Sarah.

Hey, Sarah?

Shavonda and I just went and talked,

and she was saying something about the fact that, you know,

the other night, when I came home and I yelled?

- Yeah.

- LANDON: You know, 'cause I felt bad.

- I'm taking the apology from Landon wholeheartedly.

I just think that everyone is owed a chance to talk.

- You know, like, I know, like, I just--I just take the reins

and I just run with it. Everyone's pissed at me.

And in turn, I was pissed at you guys for being pissed at me,

because I handed it in.

Everyone's name was on the cover.

I was just trying to make us all look good.

- Like, jobs, office environments,

even when they seem like they're solitary,

you are working with tons of people.

And you can't always just be, like, out for yourself.

- Yeah. Like, I'm struggling to find myself, here.

I think I just need to be more upfront about my feelings

and just tell people right away,

because if I don't start speaking up for myself,

I'm gonna be seriously misinterpreted.

And I love you, and I'm sorry that I yelled at you.
