to as the orang bunian,

"the hidden people"...

A group of inter-dimensional
ghostly entities

that live on the outskirts
of humanity.

According to legend, the bunian
are beautiful, powerful,

and said to be visible only
to those with spiritual sight...

Humans with an innate
sensitivity to the supernatural.

But if you're ever feeling
bold enough

to actually go looking for them,
beware.

If they feel threatened,
rumor has it...

...The vengeful beings...

...Can make you vanish
without a trace.

The jungles of indonesia.

A man embarks on a quest

in search of the mythical
orang bunian.

Perhaps as a way
of warding off his fear,

he starts talking
about his own bravery...

...And comparing it to
the bravery of his friends

who have chosen to stay back

while he ventures forth
on his own.

As he sweeps the forest

for any signs
of the orang bunian,

he gets farther and farther away
from his friends...

...And from anyone else
who can come to his aid.

Then he begins to taunt
the orang bunian.

Watch again in slow motion

as two creatures appear
in front of them.

The smaller of the two
seems to lunge after him.

Without ever looking back,
he runs full tilt...

...To his much wiser friends.

Yikes! oh, my god.

Like, that... Was it...

Okay.

You saw, like, a taller
and then a smaller, right?

And then the smaller
was, like, coming to get you.

That. What is that?

What's that? Because what is it?

This video is really terrifying.

First of all,
you're kind of disoriented,

out in this dark jungle
at night.

And the person
watching the video,

or taking the video,
is obviously terrified.

I would be, too.

I would be out of there
in a heartbeat.

Whatever this guy came upon
in the woods,

and you only see it
for a few seconds,

but it looks like a...
Like a boogeyman.

I mean, it looks, like,
really scary.

Which doesn't necessarily jibe

with what we know
about the orang bunian.

According to legend,
this is a benevolent creature.

It doesn't mean any harm.

The orang bunian have
a civilization,

a language, a hierarchy
entirely their own,

very much like humans.

They have royalty.
They have peasants.

They have different
personalities.

And some of them
are curious about mankind.

Some of them just want
to be left alone.

They're considered to be
benevolent beings

that teach us, you know,
what it is to be human.

What we saw in this video
is not that.

It doesn't feel like
it's there to do good.

So, is it possible
that there's a, like,

fantastical group of creatures

living in the forest?

Yeah. it's possible.

Was it the orang bunian?
I don't know,

because those things did not
seem benevolent to me.

But legend has it,

there are instances in which
these beings grow hostile

when they feel threatened.

And like the hidden people
of iceland,

the orang bunian
have been rumored

to kidnap children
and adults alike.

The orang bunian specifically
means "hidden people,"

which is really interesting
because in scandinavia,

the elves and fairies
are called huldufólk,

which means "the hidden people."

and it's the same word
that's used

for the same type of creature.

It seems like every culture
across our planet

and across different
time periods

seems to have a legend
of a race or creature

or something that lives
just beyond our borders

that we have to fear
and be careful of...

And even, in some cases,
revere and give respect to.

But could it be possible
that all these cultures

and all these tales
and all these myths

are describing
the exact same thing?

Anything is possible.

But whatever these things were,

they certainly scared
the courage

out of the man
who had been hunting them.

And little did he know just
how close he got to disappearing

into the jungles of indonesia
forever.

to literally haunt them.

rita alaniz and bobbie erickson,

members of the
midwest ghost hunterz team,

investigated the notorious
bullock hotel

in deadwood, south dakota.

After getting some interesting
feedback from the emf machine

and witnessing a wealth
of odd happenings firsthand...

- Yeah, I heard that.

...The team determined that the
bullock was indeed quite haunted

and concluded the investigation.

But before heading out,

in spite of
the hotel manager's warning,

both women took home some rocks
from just outside the hotel.

My name is rita alaniz.

And my name is bobbie erickson.

The rocks aren't forbidden
to take,

but they warned us
not to take them

because other people
have drove all the way back

to return the rocks.

Because of that
paranormal activity

and stuff in their houses.

Still, rita and bobbie
didn't think

a few rocks
could cause much harm,

so they brought them home.

Then, a short time later,

rita began experiencing
a series of bizarre activity

inside her house,

beginning most notably
with an incident in her kitchen.

My microwave door
literally just opened by itself.

Not really sure why. Um... Yeah.

So me and my dog have been
sitting here creeping out.

I've grabbed his leash,
so I'm going...

oh, my god.

Oh, man.

The kettle, when I was
recording in there,

it, like, spun
and went and hit the ground.

It was...

That was terrifying to me
because, for one,

I was by myself with my dog,

and for two, I had never seen
anything move like that.

So that scared me.

Drawing from
her experience in the field,

rita decided to set up cameras
around her house

to see if she could catch
anything else.

When I rewatched the video,
I felt scared.

And it was scary
because I felt targeted.

The cameras also picked up

a mysterious, dancing
flash of light

in the dining area.

It was then
that they started to suspect

the manifestation of a presence.

Yeah, I felt pretty excited

to actually see something
on camera.

And I kind of also felt
a little uneasy,

to be honest with you,
just because of the fact

that we've had so much activity,

and to see something like that

kind of kind of gave me
an uneasy feeling.

A little creepy.

Yeah, it was a little creepy.

Not long after,

bobbie lent a hand
with rita's investigation.

She volunteered to lie on
rita's bed in the dark...

When this happened.

Did you catch that?

Look again, closely,

as an object moves
off the side table.

Whoa!

I felt really uneasy.

I felt a cold breeze,
like, by my feet.

I kind of look over
in the video.

Like, I felt like somebody
was, like, looking at me.

And then that's when
the object moved,

and I freaked out
and just took off.

Taken individually,

these would be
powerful little segments.

Oh, my god.

Whoa!

But rolled into one story,

you have an awful lot
of unexplainable phenomena

happening in this one location.

This is
an actively haunted house.

This is one particular place

where a lot of different stuff
is going on.

Things are being disturbed
in the middle of the night.

Her blanket's being moved up.

Things are falling
off the nightstand.

The kettle in the kitchen,
I think, is one

of the most striking ones
because we're close to it.

Oh, my god.

Oh, man.

The light that we see
in the video

is not like anything
I've ever seen before,

and it's very bright
and very strange.

Like, I just don't know.

I don't even know where to begin
how to guess what that is.

It does seem to be a spirit
that's kind of mischievous,

if not malevolent.

Oh, my god.

It was doing
the regular ghost stuff...

You know, pulling down sheets
and knocking things over.

It seems to have some kind
of intelligence to it,

not just something that flies by
in the middle of the night.

So it had to be attached to them
for some reason.

And after a while,

that reason became clear
to rita and bobbie.

The rocks that they had taken
from outside the hotel

were now at rita's house,

and the warning that
they ignored about those rocks

was proving to be true.

Something was attached to them.

Oh, my god.

We can blame it
on the rocks, but...

It's just our theory.
It's just the stories
we heard about it.

And we took them anyways,
and then all that happened.

If you're going to do
a paranormal investigation,

don't take anything
from the scene.

It's irresponsible,
and you're opening yourself up

for future hauntings.

Deadwood was a mining town.

I think the last thing
you want to do

is take a rock
from somebody else's claim.

I have heard many reports of
people who have taken an object

who have come home with
something from an investigation,

and it seems that the phenomena
that might have been happening

at the original location is now
happening in this person's home.

Something bumped over here.

Are you in here, in the kitchen?

When you study evil,
evil studies you.

It's not like a tv,
where they go,

"oh, done watching this show,"
click.

They went and then they said,
"okay, we're done,"

but that contact was made.

So unless they said,
"look, we're done with you.

Don't follow us home.

No, I see you following me
to my car... stop, stay."

spirits have free will, so them
coming back just to check out

who was checking them out
is a common occurrence.

Though rita and bobbie now claim
to be reasonably comfortable

with the presence in the house,

they do have tentative plans

to bring the rocks
back to deadwood.

We're gonna bring the rocks back

and then see when we come home,
see if it's still active.

I think that
if you bring them back

and you believe that there was
an attachment with it,

they should set those back
and say, "we apologize.

Here you go. Back in its place.

but that doesn't mean
it necessarily will stop.

They may have opened
a pandora's box.

And once that's open,

they can't necessarily control
what happens next.

outside of his new house

in long beach, california,

to do some yard work
in the middle of a beautiful day

when he looks up in the sky
and sees this.

Whoa, what the is that thing?

Wow!

Holy.

A bright mother-ship-like object

hovering in the distance,

from which three smaller objects
in the shape of a triangle

float away.

Then, just minutes later,
jim captured the mother ship

spitting out rapid-fire
orb-like objects

into the daytime sky. - Wow!

Holy.

My name is jim martin,
and I recorded the video.

Wow!

When I first saw the object,

it ejected these
three smaller spheres

that formed
a triangle formation.

That in itself
is very rare to see.

And so that was very surprising
and shocking to me.

Initially, I'll film a lot
of objects in the sky,

but they won't emit
a series of smaller objects,

so that caught my attention
right off the bat.

When the object emitted a fleet
of these smaller ufos...

50 and counting...

I was just shocked
by the displayed activity

and very excited
to have captured it on film.

I've never seen
anything like this one.

It was very strange.

The rapidity with which
these objects emerge

from "the mother ship"
is impressive to me,

and I don't know what else

could be causing that speed.

I felt like I was watching
"star wars"

and there was all these
tie fighters

coming out of the main
star destroyer.

Whoa, what the is that thing?

This made me think most
of the way

that baby spiders will drop off
their mother spider

in a little cluster of tiny,
terrifying baby spiders.

That's what this reminded me of.

It was sort of like a,
you know, space invaders game.

Here's the mother ship,

here's the fleet,
we might say, of ufos

that are coming off of it.

Obviously...
Maybe not obviously,

but as far as I know...
An invasion hasn't happened yet.

So maybe we escaped this time.

But if you think the idea

of an alien invasion is far out,

jim's theory as to why
it was raining ufos

is even more extreme.

He believes he summoned them.

I have a positive association
with the phenomenon.

I view it as connected
to my own consciousness.

I go outside
and I actively pursue contact,

then they respond visually.

I had just moved to my new house
in long beach,

and I was trying
to initiate contact

and jump-start the activity
at the house,

and I'd been recording
a series of these sightings

over a few weeks,

but this was just the most
extreme event that had happened.

Wow.

When you interact
with a phenomenon

and you learn how to use
your consciousness

to connect with it,
you will start experiencing

a series of these encounters.
And as you go,

they will become more
and more intense.

Holy.

There are so many ufo witnesses

that describe
this same behavior,

that once
they've seen the thing,

then they know
when they're around,

that they can point them out,
they can bring them to you.

It's a strange phenomenon.

Whatever the reason
for their appearance,

jim believes they come in peace.

I think these phenomena
on these recordings

are widespread around the world.
I think they're deliberate.

And I think it's a process
of acclimating the society

to their presence
in a slow disclosure

through a series
of these recordings

by individuals such as myself.

The idea that aliens
are benignly allowing us

to ease ourselves into comfort
with their existence

is, like, really quite sweet,

you know, as far as
what could be happening.

Conspiracy theories are usually
quite dire and dramatic

in what they suggest
is happening.

I kind of like the idea
that aliens might be like,

"I'm gonna let you
get used to this

so it'll be less scary
when we actually show up."

that's really nice of them.

it does very little to protect
you from the paranormal...

As this family discovered

when they encountered a ghost...

In 2017, christopher king
and his brother began to notice

strange things happening
in their albion, illinois, home.

So they set up multiple cameras
and began to amass evidence

of what looked more and more
like a haunting.

It began innocently enough,
with the kitchen sink

turning on and off
when no one was around,

this toy doll
moving on its own...

...As well as this ball,

and the front door...

...Suddenly swinging open.

But the final incident
caught on camera

was so disturbing, so extreme,

the brothers began to wonder...

Was this ghost out to hurt them?

Keep your eye on this oven mitt.

The mitt slides
across the stove,

directly onto a burner.

And here is where things
get downright horrifying.

An invisible force
turns on the burner...

...And the oven mitt...

Catches fire.

The fire burns unattended
for what seems like forever.

And the house's fire alarm

never goes off.

Finally, chris smells the smoke.

Chris did not want
to speak to us

about his terrifying experience,

but his brother zach agreed
to tell us what happened.

I was living at the house

at the time
of the video's occurrence.

My brother freaked out.

He didn't sleep for about

But I was also wanting
to catch something

because we wanted something
so we could prove

that we weren't insane.

There was a camera
in every room.

There was actually two
in every room.

It got to the point where
we couldn't stand it no more.

We was doing anything we could

This is a really dangerous thing
to have happen in your house,

to have your oven mitt
or potholder

or whatever it was
to land on a stove

and then to have the stove...

Somebody or something
turn the stove on

and set a fire in a kitchen.

If that is an apparitional type
of haunting

or an intelligent type
of haunting

and it is the consciousness
of somebody

that has survived bodily death,
they're trying to hurt this guy.

Oh, it's definitely
not accidental.

There is intended malice.

That potholder could have
been thrown on the floor

or into a ceiling fan,
but it wasn't.

It was not only moved
to the burner...

The burner was turned on
beneath it

so that it would burn.

The smoke alarm
didn't even go off.

I mean, this ghost, entity,
whatever it is,

they have a lot to deal
with electricity.

So it could have turned
the fire alarm off on purpose.

If there is an actual effort
to destroy the home,

there could be a really,
really nasty negative energy

that's existing in that place.
If the house was owned before

by someone who experienced
something terrible,

who simply wants to see
that place eliminated,

that's a cause for concern.

Or could the entity's intent
be something far less malicious?

Sometimes I wonder if this
is a type of phenomenon

that gets misinterpreted
as, like,

"this thing's trying to destroy
my home, destroy my life."

but, really, it's something

lifting a potholder
in a kitchen.

Is this like an energy
trying to cook?

Because if this energy
had the capability

of taking that potholder off,
lighting it on fire,

if it really wanted to cause
some serious destruction,

wouldn't that energy have taken
that flaming potholder

and thrown it somewhere else?

After multiple
attempts to remove the spirit,

including having a preacher
bless the home,

zach, chris, and his family
all moved out,

hoping to leave both the house
and the spirit behind.

And though things seem to be
going well for them thus far,

it might not be that simple.

Something that is that strong,

if it's attached
to the land, fine.

But if it's attached to you,

you got to figure that out
real quick.

And nowhere else.

There are ghosts all around us.

And though you can't see them

and you can't hear them

and you can't feel them,

there are still those times

you can't shake
the distinct feeling

that the building is haunted.

But if you want proof,

here's a suggestion...

Check the security cameras.

Because sometimes,
as a security guard in mexico

recently discovered,
security cameras catch things

that your eyes don't,

like this spirit
of a woman in mourning.

2018... nayarit, mexico.

Two workers were in the middle
of their shift at a factory

when a security guard
named jose spotted

something strange
on his security camera feed.

A woman dressed all in black
was on the warehouse floor,

facing the factory workers as if
she was trying to talk to them.

At first, jose wondered,
who is this woman?

Why are the workers
ignoring her?

She's standing right there.

Then it suddenly struck him...

Maybe they can't see her.

Maybe she's invisible.

Maybe she's a ghost.

To confirm his suspicions,

and not wanting
to alarm the workers,

jose calmly tells them
there is something behind them

and to take a few steps back.

Now watch as the workers appear
to go right through the woman.

There is 100% clearly
a woman standing there.

This is not a hazy glitch

or a beam of light

or even an orb that could
be something or could be dust.

This is a woman standing
next to these two men

who very clearly have absolutely
zero awareness that she's there.

They're putting
their flashlights

through this figure.
They're moving their arms.

They walk right through it
a couple times.

The woman is
completely stationary.

She does not move at all.

But these guys that are on
the floor of the security office

do not see her at all.

Zilch. They see nothing.

And if you look
closely, she seems to be wearing

some sort of, like, mourning
veil, almost like a widow.

And she's standing
in what looks like this

very somber body language.

And it's very unusual
to see that,

especially when you have
two people

that do not see
this individual there.

It's very goth. It's very drab.
It's very sad.

So maybe this entire place is
more haunted than people expect.

But not necessarily haunted

with the type of ghosts
most people are familiar with.

I think the thing that's
most telling about this clip

is, whatever it is,

it doesn't respond
to the men walking around

and searching for it.
It doesn't respond.

It doesn't move at all.
So I would probably classify it

as a residual haunting...
Something that is just an echo

of what was.
Because it doesn't interact,

it's probably something that
will never interact, and people

will just see it over time.

It could be that she died there.

It could be that someone
she loves died there.

Something about presence.
Something about waiting.

Something about
being on that space.

We see that often
in things like loss and grief,

if someone has spent a long time

waiting for someone else
to come home.

But why would
a security camera pick up

something
that our eyes can't see?

Ghosts oftentimes communicate
through electricity,

so you can see them
messing with lights,

you can see them on camera,

but you won't be able
to see them with the naked eye.

There is something
about technology

that can offer a bridge
to the other side.

The idea of ghosts either
existing on a different plane

or in a different dimension
or simply being ephemeral

and translucent is a very
popular trope in ghost belief.

We see it in popular culture
a lot, too,

that things can pass
through other things.

Where we see it now mostly
is in those times

when technology is doing
the watching for us.

The only way a spirit
can be seen,

especially on camera,

is if they project that image
onto the recording media.

We have to remember,
a spirit doesn't have mass

to reflect light.

This woman is not moving,
so it doesn't seem

that there's any kind
of interaction

or she's trying to get
a message across.

She just is.

And that is just
the energy of her

left over, almost like a shadow.

And I think that's why
the camera picks up that energy

and then the people that are
standing right next to her

aren't picking up that energy.

Security guard jose later showed

the footage to the workers,

and they were in disbelief.

But it was nothing compared
to how jose felt

when he first realized
he was seeing a ghost

and they weren't.

It's sort of like seeing
a shark in the water.

And swimmers
are out in that water,

and you're trying to say, "hey,
there's something out there,"

and they can't necessarily
see it from their perspective,

but you can.

Psychologically,
that's very tense.

And it makes you fearful for
whether it's your co-workers

or a stranger
or a family member.

So, seeing that on camera
is a whole different experience

as opposed to seeing it
in person.

We don't get
a lot of bro hauntings,

because I feel like guys
are a little bit more

embarrassed to be like,

Ghosts feed off of your fear.

So the fact this kid
showed so much fear,

this ghost is probably
patting itself on the back

for a job well done.

If you show a spirit or a ghost

that you're afraid of it,
you're giving it power.

You're letting it know
that it has an effect on you.

And I feel like a lot of times,
that's what these entities

are looking for anyway.
It's why they move things.

It's why they open and close
doors and rattle things.

They want your attention.

Maybe they want you
to be afraid.

And if they see
they're getting somewhere,

they're only gonna escalate
that activity.

But why did the presence
show itself now,

when he wasn't even paying
attention to it?

That is so often the case,
that you spend all your time

trying to intentionally
document something,

and you're not trying
to document it,

and as a result, we seem to be
