[ squeaks ]

Roy:

[ horn blows ]

- Ha!
- Hey, buddy!

Hi, Hugo!

- Hello.
- Hey there, monster-sitters.

Wow! Lookin' sharp,
Mr. and Mrs. Ooga!
What's the occasion?

We're going out
for a special dinner tonight,

so we wanted to look our best.

I helped Daddy
pick out his tie.

Fig helped me
get ready too.

Didn't you, Figgles?

Uh-huh. Fig look fancy.

- Huh?
- [ laughs ]

Don't you just love monsters?

So, where are you going
for dinner?

We're going
to the restaurant

where we had
our very first date.

Café Monsterini.

Bad news. Café Monsterini

we need to do is chop
the vegetables

for the slimeghetti sauce.

Sorry, Fig,
knives are really sharp.

They're not safe
for little monsters.

I'll have to do that part.

Maybe you could do
the next part of the recipe.

Let's see. Next,
we boil water on the stove
for the slimeghetti.

Leave that to Chef Hugini!

Ooh, sorry, Hugo,

but the stove is really hot.

That's not safe
for little monsters either.

I'll have to do that too.

- Aww.
- Don't worry.

I bet this next part
will be something nice and safe

for both of you to do.

Let's see.

Chop the slimeghetti
into pieces with a sharp knife

and drop it into
the boiling water
on the hot stove.

Hugo/Fig:
We'll do it! We'll do it!

No! Um, those things
aren't safe

for little monsters either.

But we want to make dinner
for Mommy and Daddy.

And we're not helping
at all!

Fig want to help.
[ nose honks ]

Well, maybe you can be our, um,

kitchen assistants!

assistants do?

- They assist.

first we need some eggs
from the fridge.

- Fig: OK.

this might be harder
than we thought.

OK. Now we need
a mixing bowl.

Whoa.... whoa!

- [ bowls clatter ]
- Oops.

OK, Figgles,
you can mix the sauce.

[ doll squeaking ]

Roy, we have to think

Hugo and Fig
are so sad.

And seeing them sad

makes me hungry.

Mmm! [ gulps ]

work at a restaurant!

[ gasps ] Wait a monster minute!
That's it!

Hugo and Fig may not
be big enough to cook the food,

but they can still make dinner
special for their mom and dad.

We can decorate the living room
to look like Café Monsterini!

Fig, you can greet
your mom and dad at the door,

and Hugo, you can
serve the food!

- What do you say?
- Both: Yes, yes, yes!

We say yes.

Then get ready, guys!

It's playtime.

[ music playing ]

our restaurant ♪

♪ Here's the plan
for what we'll do ♪

the decorations ♪

and be as loud as they want!

[ laughing ]

into dinosaurs lately.

This dinosaur is called
a Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Ooh, T-Rex!

with dinosaurs.
