Dr. Emma? What are

The water's rotten.
I don't want anyone getting sick.

That's the gas line. You'll
blow us all up if you keep hitting it.

[Emma sighs]

-[Emma sighs]
-You need to clean that nasty wound.

-I've got bottled water at home, we can--
-No, no, thank you. It's fine. I'm okay.

I'm looking for the shut-off valve.
Where can I find it?

Oh no, doctor, every building
around here has five different valves.

It depends on which zone it's in,
and… the tank.

It's gonna take you all day.

were all terrified of her.

you could become the hospital director.

Isn't that true?

-So?
-[Lidia] So.

Your daughter is asking you to talk
to Facundo. But what do you do?

You help everyone else
in the neighborhood but Caro.

[melancholy music playing]

[Emma sighs]

[Emma sighs]

It's worse than it was 20 years ago.

Why bring me here, Caro?

For me.

Why am I really here?

[Caro sighs]

I don't wanna do this alone.

-Can you hear Facundo?
-[man 1 screaming] Help me!

-Is this where he died?
-[man 2 moaning]

[Caro] Close by.

With me.

-[Emma] You were with him?
-[music stops]

-[overlapping screaming and gasping]
-[Caro] Can you hear him or not?

[Emma] I can hear several people
dying at the same time.

They have syringes hanging
from their arms.

Is one of them supposed to be Facundo?

[voices whimpering and gasping]

[Caro] I forgot how his voice was.

Mom, you're really pale.

[voices continue screaming]

-Never mind. Let's go.
-[Emma] Wait.

Sit over there.

It's gross, I'm not going to.

[Emma] Show me how he was.

[Caro sighs]

[Emma] Just show me.
What position was Facundo in, exactly?

[Caro sighs]

[sighs heavily]

Something like this.

[breathing shakily]

His arms were trembling.

He had no strength left.
He begged me to inject him.

There wasn't a single vein
that wasn't infected. But you know, Mama…

I found one.

[Facundo] Caro.

-It's him.
-Why is he like that?

-[Caro] Like what?
-You gave him something?

[Caro] Morphine.

It wasn't my fault.

He was the cutest and funniest
of them all. He was incredible.

[Facundo] Don't you start with that.

[Caro] Hmm?

Don't worry, I'm not in love with you.

But I never forgot you.

You ruined me, Facundo.

[melancholy music playing]

Is that your mom right there?

No, I have no idea who she is.

You injected him.
He remembers it really well.

[Caro] Yeah, he started off slowly.

Mushrooms, LSD, then all of a sudden…

When he started his residency,
he came up to me

and said that morphine
was much more important than life itself.

[breathing shakily]
And when I'd see him around here…

it was like seeing him slowly wilt.

And he told me, "Go on, just do it, Caro."

So I went up to the hospital, grabbed
a dose, came back down, gave it to him,

and said, "Facundo,
when you wake up, be prepared

because I am taking you
straightaway to rehab."

But he just never woke up.

So you stole the morphine.

Yeah, from the university hospital.

And you said it was the last time.

It was the last time.

And it would be the last time
I ever injected him.

How much morphine?

Not a lot.

But it was contaminated.

Other patients died because of it.
It was on the news.

[Emma] So you're saying
it wasn't your fault?

I had no idea.

-But you k*lled Facundo.
-I didn't k*ll anyone.

-He was dying anyway.
-Still, he didn't k*ll himself.

You went there, you stole it,
you gave the injection,

and you got yourself
in a spectacular sh*t show of a life.

[snorts softly]

Huh.

[voices continue screaming]

[sirens wailing]

What's going on?

Something odd's going on.

[music fades]

You okay?

[Caro] I have no idea what to do with you.

I don't know what to do with you.
What should I do with you?

Well, what do you mean?

I wish you were dead.

I don't know why I even come here.

I'm aware you're my mom,
and I'm your daughter.

But you can't be my mom,
because I'm not like you.

I'm just not like you. [sighs]

I'm not like you.

[gasps]

-Calm down, Caroli--
-You could never be my mom!

[sighs]

[eerie, disquieting music playing]

[sirens wailing]

BUENOS AIRES POLICE

{\an8}[clanging]

{\an8}[metal creaking]

[loud thump]

[Susana moaning]

[sobbing]

Ju… Ju…

[trembling] Julie.

[music fades]

[gasps] Julie.

[pipes gurgling]

[Lidia] The police are here.

[Emma] Go see what they want.

Can you go?

[officer] Good afternoon, ma'am.

We've found enough evidence
for us to believe

that your niece's body is in the
neighborhood's contaminated water tank.

[melancholy music playing]

[Emma] What is all this?

We're not gonna get through.
They won't let us.

[siren whooping]

[camera shutter whirring]

[man 1] Come on,
move out of the way. Move!

[woman 1] What have you done, Emma?

What the f*ck did you do now?

[man 2] Please clear this area.
We're working here.

We need to move these people.

[siren wailing]

[woman 1] This is all your fault,
you crazy witch.

-You f*cking witch!
-[radio chatter]

-[woman 1] f*cking witch!
-[man 3] Make way.

Wait. Lidia, listen to me. Wait.

-[man 1] Come on, guys, let's move.
-How can they be sure it's Julie?

No, they're not sure.

-That's why we should just leave.
-But I wanna see her myself.

I have to, I need to see her.

[man 2] Make space. This is heavy
equipment! Please get out of the way!

-[woman 2] This area's restricted.
-[Lidia] I'm her mother.

-[Emma] She's the mother.
-[woman 2] Two women are through.

[man 4] You can't be here, ma'am.
Please step back.

Move that out of the way.
Come on. Quickly!

[siren blares]

-[man 3] It's such a mess down here!
-[man 5 yelling]

[man 3] Please, let these people work.

Please, step back immediately.

-[water rushing]
-[metal grinding]

[crowd clamoring]

[echoing screaming]

[people coughing and retching]
