02x08 - A Cold a*s Wedding

Post by bunniefuu »

Duncan Duckett, everyone who's gone

looking for your treasure is dead.

Half the world's in a water shortage.

Enjoy that.

Harley hasn't answered not one of my calls.

Why do I feel like you had something to do with that?

If you ever darken my door, I will set your life on fire.

Where the f*ck have you been?

Wasn't worth mentioning, "Oh, you know, by the way,

"I might not be dead."

- What'd they used to call you? - They call me Danger.

You said Danger, Roman, Preacher in a Chevy.

You need to end this w*r, not escalate it.

I think I need that gold in order to help me

forget everything that I know.

I have broken the toughest m*therf*cker.

- [g*nsh*t] - Oh! [sighs]

DIARRA: Confession.

I've always thought of summer as an invitation to adventure.

DANGER: Y'all listen to me very carefully.

Every hair, every drop of blood gotta take a bleach bath.

She a cop, can't be no mistakes.

DIARRA: And if I'm honest, my favorite summer escapades

have always been wet and wild.

But this was f*cking ridiculous.

And I was desperate for a guidebook,

a how to cope with an adventure spinning out of control.

God damn.

- What? - DIARRA: What do you mean what?

What you what?

Why are you looking at me like that?

Why are you looking at me like that?

Now you're looking at me, you wouldn't even look at me

when we were sitting at the f*cking table.

Oh, I can give you a couple reasons.

- Why are you here? - DANGER: Why--

Why are you in this sh*t again?

Why the f*ck are you in this sh*t again?

There's always some sh*t with you.

f*ck you, Danger.

You know, I swear, I feel like we're part

of the same soul family, just destined to keep meeting

and meeting and meeting and meeting again

'til we fulfill some sacred contract.

n*gga, what?

Why are you with the militia

kidnapping kids?

Okay, first of all, that big n*gga ain't no kid.

I don't know why the f*ck you keep saying that.

And I didn't know anything about him until we were in it, okay?

- Me and Bailey-- - You and Bailey?

- Yes. - Who the f*ck is Bailey?

She saved me, okay?

She patched me up.

- She gave me space to heal, D. - DIARRA: Yeah, I bet she did.

I bet she healed the f*ck out of you.

- What do you care? - I care. Danger.

- She saved me. - I grieved you.

I called every hospital, every morgue,

every meditation center in a tri-state f*cking area.

Yeah, in between f*cking Chris, huh?

Yes, I did a little bit

- of f*cking Chris. - Yeah, you did a lot of that.

But you let me think that you were dead

for four f*cking months.

How could you do that?

I thought that I did enough, D.

Don't you?

I needed time to put myself back together.

I thought ghosting you would be easier for you.

Maybe I was making it easier for me.

Tell me why.

You know why, D.

[sighs]

Royce...

is the man that I'm dating.

Bailey is the woman that I'm with.

I don't think y'all noticed I went to get some more bleach.

You need some more time?

- DIARRA: No. - No. Nah, we was...

We was just...

He's all yours, Bailey.

And thank you for patching him up.

- Holy sh*t, what the f*ck? - Oh, no, no, no.

Hey, yo, is that the cop?

You're supposed to be with Raqueeba.

You, um, you can't be here.

I'll call you later. Let's get you--

I don't got nowhere else to go.

I ain't gonna snitch. I'm in this.

- Okay. - Come on.

We, um, we gotta get her outside.

BAILEY: Yeah.

Uh, on three?

- Let's go. - DIARRA: Yeah.

- On three. - f*ck.

Oh, sh*t.

- Three. - [all grunting]

- Are you-- Like, give me-- - I got the castle.

Y'all wasn't answering the phone,

so I hope y'all like Chinese--

Really? Who the f*ck is that?

DIARRA: I would have given anything

to downgrade from adventure

to day trip to Cedar Point,

but the universe had other plans.

Tea parked the sheriff's car in Warrendale.

With any luck, it would be in a chop shop by noon.

And Bailey? She had a spot on her farm to bury the body.

You coming?

Yeah. As soon as I handle this Cartier thing.

The farm doesn't need another albatross.

With the sheriff gone, we got an opportunity

to tip the feds on the feed store.

BAILEY: Then, we're home free.

DANGER: Then, we go back to summer corn.

So you're really coming back?

Yeah. I'm coming home.

Just don't forget yourself.

Home.

TEA: So now you got me burying bodies.

You owe me again.

DANGER: What are we supposed to do with the pieces?

Oh.

Hold this for me.

Bap. And this one goes here. Bap.

- [mechanical whirring] - Oh, sh*t. You did it.

I knew it.

No way.

- [Diarra laughing] - No way, no way, no way.

You did it.

Yo.

- Holy sh*t. - sh*t.

Yo.

BOOKER: There's that burnt piece of wood.

Just like my granny told me.

DIARRA: Ah!

"Sons, you have passed my test.

"I have given you the direction. My treasure is yours.

"."

If Dunc's sons had gotten this far,

they would have been baptized.

They would have been Masonic brothers.

They would have been worthy.

I wondered if the ghetto goonies

for all our hot-a*s messiness

were still the ones Dunc had been waiting for.

. What is ?

Is that a locker combo?

It's my address.

Booker, how long did your granny have this house?

It's been in the family forever.

Oh, sh*t.

So when you snuck up out of here,

you didn't use the front door or the back.

Because you knew there was a secret passageway.

I'll show you the trick to the furnace.

You just gotta bang it in the right spot.

DIARRA: It was clear why they never got the furnace replaced.

It was a doorway.

It goes down to the river.

Me and Abe used to sneak out down here.

DIARRA: Where does this go?

What? Do I look like a Ninja Turtle?

It's a sewer.

Yeah, I'm not climbing in no damn sewer.

And neither are you.

[panting]

I guess I missed the part

where you became a damn treasure hunter.

Well, um, I got a new nickname too.

It's Michigan m*therf*cking Jones.

DANGER: Damn, this place is like a maze.

Okay. Dunc's letter don't make no sense.

Talk about I've already given you directions

and ain't gave nan direction.

- You sure about that, Michigan? - DIARRA: Yes, I'm sure.

I just need to think.

I was gonna have to write my own adventure guide

by drawing upon every lesson I had learned.

The first was focus.

And then boom.

Sewn.

South, east, west, north.

Damn, so the man already gave directions.

- Like you said. - Yeah. Okay.

So which way is south then?

So...

It's that way.

Then east.

[sighs] Okay.

Yo, what the f*ck is that smell?

[coughing] Oh, oh God.

- Ew! - sh*t.

DIARRA: Ugh!

DANGER: This n*gga been shot.

[screaming]

Wait, stop. Stop.

- It's booby trapped. - DANGER: Booby trapped?

Probably to keep the Purples from getting to the treasure.

Purples ain't never wear no ostentatious short set.

sh*t look like Gucci.

ORA: I bought Sincere some things.

Silk short sets with matching Gucci slides.

I knew where the treasure was a long time ago.

But Dunc, crabby son of a b*tch.

ORA: Sincere disappeared.

Sincere. [exhaling]

DANGER: Come on. That's nasty, D.

Wow, ah.

- It's Sincere. - DANGER: Who's Sincere?

Aw, he loved her.

Even in that moo-moo.

- Yeah. Ugh. - DANGER: Again, who is Sincere?

So Ron's b*tch a*s got to everybody.

Before he sent me and Chris after the desk,

he tried to get Sincere to go straight for the gold.

But they couldn't figure out the clues.

[sighs]

"Lerosa."

ORA: He might have had a double life and a fiancé.

Lerosa, some raggedy bullshit.

DIARRA: Ora thought Sincere was having an affair,

but Lerosa wasn't a girl.

Lerosa was a password.

- Yeah, one that ain't work. - Ugh.

Okay, wait. I'm gonna try something.

What?

[g*nf*re]

sh*t. f*ck.

Now, how do we shut this sh*t off?

We need the code.

He said, "My treasure is yours."

So whatever he meant by treasure.

The answer gotta be gold or diamonds or something.

[panting] No, no, no, no, no.

Dunc would have wanted them to treasure something more.

So Cain and Abel should have treasured...

It all boiled down to the question the universe

and Royce had demanded I answer.

It's family.

Six letters.

Wait. Not that I don't trust your gut.

- Okay. - Yeah.

[g*nshots]

Damn. Everyone okay?

Yeah, I'm straight,

- I'm straight. - Oh, sh*t.

Okay, so that wasn't the password.

I realized maybe what I treasured

wasn't the same for Dunc.

I had to think like a man.

Luckily, I'd done it before.

BOOKER: You know, my granny, she didn't know much about Dunc,

but she knew that our soul of our family

was stitched into a disk.

Trinity was passed on to me from my father.

This is my legacy.

But then my dad died, the whole legacy thing just

kind of landed on me like boom.

Men prioritize legacy.

No, some n*gg*s just want peace and quiet.

Yeah, some chicks just be gangsters as hell.

Okay, but I know Dunc.

Family was too emotional, but legacy could be neat,

tidy, and Dunc was about order.

[metal rattles]

- [laughing] - [sighs] Okay.

Hell, yeah.

Good call on the sandwiches, Dee.

[sighs]

Mm. You need a little?

No, no, I'm good.

You know what though? I do.

This knot is crazy. You feel that?

- I got you. I got you. - Right there. Ah!

Damn, you all over the place. [chuckling]

Boyfriend in jail, ex-husband all on the billboards.

And you got this mumbling a*s n*gga.

- Shut the f*ck up. - Uh-uh.

- Not you trying to come for me. - I mean, we'll look out.

DIARRA: Adventure tip.

Remember your soft focus.

It can reveal hard truths.

One thing I learned from my worst students

is that sociopaths imitate to fit in.

I made a mistake when giving the Oreo test.

Never eat the cookie first, but I was hung over.

Cookie?

And I guess I was desperate to see him unlock

the magic of an Oreo cookie.

So Booker watched me

and then showed me exactly what I wanted to see.

Appreciate it.

He played me, which meant he was still playing me.

Booker, do you even have a drone?

What?

Told you as soon as I get my gold, it's yours.

DIARRA: I'ma ask you one last time.

Do you even have a drone?

I read Lisa's diary back to front.

She mentioned a whole lot of little nasty tricks

you got up your sleeve,

but she never said anything about you having a drone.

There's no footage, is there?

What the f*ck is going on, D?

Oh! [gasp]

Where the f*ck did you get that from?

Sheriff wasn't using it no more.

Oh!

- Get up. - Danger.

- Get up. - Okay.

BOOKER: I said get up.

What in the f*ck is wrong with you?

Dunc's sons ain't even trust each other.

I'ma trust a teacher I barely know?

Are you brain dead?

I have been trying to help you this entire time.

You've been trying to help yourself.

- No, I-- - Thanks for leading the way.

That's about as far as you go.

Whoa. Wait, wait, Booker.

You don't even know which way to go.

Do you go that way? Is it that one?

[Booker grunting]

BOOKER: Oh, you b*tch! I'ma k*ll you.

[tense music playing]

DIARRA: The funny thing was,

I was actually planning on having a pretty chill summer,

but a wet and wild adventure found me.

And this time, it wasn't all that was cracked up to be.

[Diarra panting]

- [g*nshots] - f*ck! f*ck!

[Diarra grunting]

[metal rattles]

PREACHER: But he saw that wheel,

and that big wheel run by what?

"And the big wheel moved by faith, not by might be."

I realized when in doubt,

the faithful kneel down and pray.

[lock opens]

[gasp]

[panting]

Oh, my God.

"I bestow the entirety of my fortune."

Ah!

After all the searching, I finally held it in my hand.

- [doors open] - Hands up, n*gga Holmes.

- Move. Get the f*ck back! - Okay.

- Back up. All the way. - Okay. Okay.

- Back up! - All right, calm down!

All the way to the wall.

Look at all of these crates, there's plenty for everybody.

I can still help you.

BOOKER: After all the bullshit I've been through, it's mine.

The f*cking treasure's mine.

- Ah! - [punches landing]

DIARRA: All right!

Hey, f*cking stop it.

[ceiling rattling]

DIARRA: It's gonna collapse.

Okay. All right, we gotta go. We gotta go.

Booker? Booker?

BOOKER: I'm not leaving without my inheritance.

DIARRA: Booker, we gotta go.

- DANGER: D, come on! - I'm coming!

- Booker, come on, right now. - DANGER: Come on!

DIARRA: We gotta go. Just leave it.

- Booker! - My brother's counting on me.

- Let's go, D! - I am!

[Diarra screaming]

Booker!

DANGER: D.

[screaming] Booker!

- [crying] Booker! - Diarra!

No, help me!

- He's gone! - Help me!

He's gone, D.

[Diarra crying]

He's gone.

I'm sorry.

DIARRA: And that's how I found myself with no witness,

the gold out of reach,

and a lost cause I couldn't save.

Booker was gone.

A long list of people had failed him before I ever met him,

but I still took that sh*t personal.

[crying]

This part of the story is too painful.

We should skip ahead.

- [g*nsh*t] - Oh!

DIARRA: Wait, that's too far.

I should start with Swa.

Adventure tip.

Sometimes you have to admit defeat,

I'll catch up with you, okay?

DIARRA: All the way back to square one.

Hey.

Hi.

I wouldn't know that, 'cause I've never been arrested.

Okay, I gotta tell you something,

and I just need you to take it in without judging.

Can you do that?

Yes, I can do that.

Okay, I tried to solve the Coney killings myself.

Why the f*ck would you do that?

- DIARRA: Whoa, whoa, whoa. - SWA: That's insane!

One of these ghetto treasure hunters.

But what about the killings?

Look, if you have some suspects you want my PI to track down...

I didn't k*ll 'em! These are very violent people, Swa.

They're k*lling each other.

These are all of my notes.

All of your notes.

Do your notes explain how the scene

And at the end of the day,

his prints were the only one that they found.

Please, Swa.

This guy at the firm, his ex-wife is the star

Cartier was still a big problem.

Good thing Swa worked quick.

He got Chris out of gen pop,

but that didn't mean he wasn't a d*ck about it.

SWA: Dee, look, I'm combing through your notes

the gold would be some great evidence.

The Downtown Yacht Club was an institution.

Perched on the shore of Belle Isle,

the island that sits halfway between Canada and Detroit,

and for our heist.

Okay, so service entry and dining room.

The Lerosa room. Negroes only.

That's it. Dunk hid his treasure underneath the n*gro-only room.

Oh, my God, I love him!

Okay, so what is it now?

TEA: It's the bridal suite.

I was looking for answers on the astral plane.

We worked Aja's connections at the club.
