with an eye toward Evolution.

Mallow is searching for ingredients

that go well with Poni radishes

to make new dishes

for the family restaurant.

Lana is fishing

while waiting for Ida, her mentor,

and looking for a huge catch.

Lillie is observing the many Pokémon

who live on Poni Island.

And what about Ash?

-And this time, I'm gonna win!

Our hero ran all the way

to Hapu's house, hoping for a battle.

when one side's Pokémon

can no longer continue.

[gasping]

Shocking! It's using the terrain!

That's one of Ash's specialties.

He doesn't simply use moves,

he tries to use all of the surroundings

to his advantage.

Lycanroc, Bite! Let's go!

-Jump!

-[growls]

[gasps]

[grunting]

-[Hapu] Hmm.

While Ash's Lycanroc was gaining speed,

Gladion's Lycanroc took the attack early

to reduce any damage.

[grunts]

[Hapu] He's no ordinary Trainer either.

[Gladion]

You both have grown, haven't you?

It was so worried about getting dirty

that it couldn't battle.

But you overcame that.

-[growls]

-[chuckles]

That's because we did

some special training with Tapu Bulu.

-Really?

-Is that true?

Yes. Tapu Bulu also shared

some berries with us.

Just to be friends

with an Island Guardian.

[growls]

[Hapu] What stuff is this Ash made of?

I'm forced to admit that this battle

is like no other battle

I've ever witnessed before.

The things that I'm seeing

have left me speechless.

These Trainers seem to be using

their Pokémon

to the absolute utmost of their powers.

You know? I've learned a lot

from watching and knowing Ash.

When the strength of a Pokémon

combines with that of a Trainer,

they inspire each other,

creating even more strength.

That's not all.

The ones who can distinguish that

are the island kahunas.

In their grand trials.

[gasps] Hmm.

Lycanroc, Stone Edge, let's go!

-Lycanroc!

[growls]

Not bad. Now it's our turn. Swords Dance!

[gasps, then grunts]

I have never seen such a rampage.

Before, Gladion used Swords Dance

so Lycanroc's attack power increased.

Stop Lycanroc in its tracks with Bite!

[grunting]

Lycanroc, no!

[groaning]

Just a bit longer.

When the Outrage ends,

Lycanroc should be confused.

Then we can turn the tables on them.

[howling]

[birds chirping]

-There's the confusion.

-[barks]

[Ash] Now. All right, let's go!

After that Outrage,

Ash's side used a massive attack

to finish up in one blow.

However, Gladion and Lycanroc

used the time during that massive attack

to recover from confusion.

Shocking! A last-ditch desperation ploy!

It's not a move that works

unless Pokémon and Trainer

trust each other fully.

[Hapu] I get it now.

[Lillie] The way Gladion battles,

it's almost exactly like Ash.

[Gladion] After a Z-Move you're probably

so drained, you can't even counterattack.

This is the best battle!

Totally awesome, Gladion.

-[growls]

But, in any case,

-[laughs]

-[growls]

-[chattering]

I haven't been doing all this training

just for show.

[Hapu] It is all clear to me now.

Both have passion. And fire.

-[chattering]

-[gasps]

[chattering]
