14x30 - A UFO for Elgyem!

Post by bunniefuu »

Huh?

Hm.

- Pika? - Achoo!

- Pika-Pi! - Hey, Pikachu, what's going on?

- What was that? - Beats me.

Look out! That light!

- It's a UFO! - Pika!

- A what? - Axew!

[gasps]

- Huh! - Did you...see what I saw?

Yeah. Something super-bright just flew by.

And then it went off that way and disappeared.

Hm, then that means..

...it can only be Science Time!

- Huh? - Huh?

Whenever there are reports of UFOs

they're often the result of a simple mistake.

But I'm certain that was no sh**ting star

or man-made satellite.

And it couldn't have been a plane

because there were no blinking lights.

You know a lot.

You see, I'm not just a Pokemon Connoisseur

I'm also a Science Connoisseur.

- Science Connoisseur? - Correct.

If one examines any type of supernatural event

there will always be some kind of rational explanation.

And getting to the bottom of such events

is the job of a Science Connoisseur.

Why do I feel like I'm gonna get annoyed?

Axew!

Question. Did you actually see the UFO, Iris?

Hm. Well, I might have but I'm not sure.

Hey, I saw it. It was a UFO with space aliens.

That has a very unscientific aroma to it.

(Ash) "A UFO For Elgyem!"

(narrator) Having witnessed a mysterious UFO sighting

on their way to the Nimbasa City Gym

our heroes have decided to stop at a diner

to try to make sense of what they saw.

What? We're in Area ?

Uh, what's an "Area ?"

It's a place famous

for the large number of UFO sightings they've had.

I read all about it

but I had no idea it was here.

Sir, we saw a UFO fly east over the mountain.

We'd like to find out what's over there.

Well, there's nothing all that exciting out there.

Actually, there's a strange scientist living there.

Strange scientist?

A UFO researcher named Professor Icarus.

Professor Icarus?

I finished reading one of his books not that long ago.

It's titled "The Truth Behind UFOs"

and it's excellent.

Then I saw him on a TV special about UFO sightings.

Yeah, he's weird, to be sure.

Come to think of it, that reminds me..

A mailman I know was out on his rounds one day

when out of nowhere, he got the worst headache

and started seeing things.

(Ash) 'Seeing things?'

Says he was suddenly surrounded by a scene from outer space.

We got so concerned, we went to ask the professor.

What are you bothering me for?

Uh, you see, we're wondering if you've been doing

any sort of strange experiments here at your lab?

What?

Well, my buddy here claims that

he was suddenly surrounded by what looked and felt to him

like outer space or something.

That's absurd. I don't know what you mean.

But now, everybody's worried that what happened

must have something to do with your research laboratory.

We demand to see what you're doing in there.

No. Leave here at once.

Now, hold on a minute.

[screams]

My head felt like it was inside a vise, it was so painful.

And we had to leave there without finding out anything.

What could this mean?

Hm.

There has to be a logical reason.

You mean, why those men got such terrible headaches?

That's part of it, yes, but why did that mailman

see outer space floating all around him?

I would theorize that someone or something

transmitted those images into the mailman's brain.

But is that even possible?

Well, we've heard of psychic power

and we know there are Pokemon

who possess psychic power as well.

Which means we've got to investigate this.

- Investigate? - Mm-hm.

We've to go to that lab and see for ourselves.

Uh! But you heard what happened to those men.

Like I said, all supernatural events

have a rational explanation.

Applying science to understand them

is the job of a Science Connoiseur.

"Applying?" Try annoying.

Axew.

There it is.

We're really going?

- Of course. - This'll be fun.

Come on.

Elgyem. Elgyem.

Elgyem.

Uh, oh.

This bridge does have the scent of danger.

(all) Huh?

[screams]

Ash, I just saw an image of you falling.

- I did too. - Yeah, so did I.

- Wait.. - Hm.

Maybe there's something..

Oh!

How did we see what we saw?

We saw the future.

And that future image was somehow sent to us.

(Jessie) It's gone.

Catching a Pokemon

that can use Teleport could be tricky.

Just leave it to me.

I'll track its movement patterns

and then analyze the data.

So, rumors of an unusual Pokemon

from outer space were all true.

Excellent.

We'll catch it and claim it

for the glory of Team Rocket.

And the Boss's eternal gratitude.

Hello?

We're wondering if Professor Icarus is at home?

What is it? What do you want?

Ah!

Professor, what an honor. We witnessed a UFO.

And it flew in the direction of your laboratory

and then disappeared.

Did you happen to see it?

Uh. About what time?

It was about o'clock last night.

Well, that certainly was no UFO but..

Oh, forget it.

Now please, just leave me alone.

But, professor, I read your book.

You explained the actual science needed for a UFO to fly.

That wonderful aroma of truth was so evident throughout

that I was wondering would you perhaps tell me

how your research has been progressing since then?

Huh, as you know, my theory states

that if you can manipulate dark matter

you could fly a UFO anytime.

Dark matter? Is that some kind of Pokemon?

Actually, no.

Dark matter is a substance related to gravity.

Okay, now what would happen

if you were to manipulate this dark matter?

You could make a flying saucer immune to gravity's effects.

Professor, have you found a way to manipulate dark matter?

Yes. As a matter of fact, I have.

Huh! Why that's astounding.

But, it could take another thirty

maybe a hundred years to prove.

Successfully showing scientific proof for any new theory

takes a very long time and involves a lot of work.

And any revolutionary theory must first be questioned.

"But in order to move forward

one must continue to experiment even in the face of ridicule."

Those are your words from the postscript to your book.

And they're very moving words, indeed.

I don't know.

'Would you like to come in for a snack?'

- Ha! - Hm.

(Cilan) 'You see, professor, the thing I admire'

about your wonderful book is the way you're able

to transform the difficult science of UFOs

into easy-to-digest words.

Awesome. I wanna read it too.

Forget about it. A kid like you couldn't get through page one.

Come on!

By the way, professor

I haven't seen you on TV discussing UFOs lately.

I gave up on all that worthless drivel.

My real interest isn't actually in UFOs, anyway.

- Huh! - Pika!

- What was that? - Oh, no!

- Professor? - Let's go.

[panting]

- Oh! - Huh!

- What's that? - Pika!

I've seen that. Could that be the UFO we saw?

I can't be certain, but it sure looks like it.

Hey, where's the professor?

- Over there! - Huh.

We saw that explode in the vision.

You must leave at once.

But, professor, we can't just leave you here.

Oh, alright then.

'Pull out that cable that's connected to the saucer.'

- Right. - Alright, pull!

It feels like it's locked on tight.

Alright. Everything's under control now.

[groaning]

But, what about those red and green lights?

- Huh! - Yew!

Elgyem.

It's a space alien.

No, in fact, it's an Elgyem.

That's a Pokemon.

Well, what do you know?

(Pokedex) Elgyem. The Cerebral Pokemon.

Nobody had ever seen an Elgyem

before it made its sudden appearance in the desert.

Wow!

Elgy.

Now, now, there's no reason to be frightened.

I can assure you these aren't bad people.

Oh, you must have sent us the image of the expl*si*n.

Yes, and thanks to this wonderful Elgyem

my research is safe.

Then that means Elgyem must be the one

that saved us on the bridge, too.

Really? I wasn't aware of that.

Elg.

(group) Who's that Pokemon?

(group) It's Elgyem.

Elgyem.

So, professor, when did you start building your UFO?

I became fascinated with UFOs a long time ago.

I was a young boy of eight

when I saw something in the sky

that I'll never forget.

I had always enjoyed learning about outer space in school

so I studied astrophysics and eventually became a professor

but I never was able to give up my dream

of making a saucer-shaped flying craft.

So I quit the university and focused on my research.

And finally, I succeeded

in building a small flying saucer.

- Pika. - Professor, that's incredible.

Not really.

As you'll recall in my book

real UFOs achieve faster-then-light speeds

by manipulating dark matter

and by extension, gravity.

But, all I did was install propeller engines

into a saucer-shaped body.

- So this is it? - Correct.

You see, I've been testing this miniature prototype

and I've also been working on building this full-scale model.

That would explain the UFO sightings

that have been taking place over Area .

Yes, most of those UFO sightings have been my work.

That's probably what you all saw as well

although UFOs have been spotted around Area

for a very long time.

Long before I ever came here.

Only six months ago..

Uh!

I heard a crash and rushed into the forest..

Then.

Well, that's an Elgyem. Hey.

Elgyem, wake up!

Could my flying saucer have done this?

I brought Elgyem back to my home and did what I could.

Fortunately, its injuries were minor.

- Elgyem. - Ah!

Soon Elgyem was back to perfect health.

At first, Elgyem was frightened and shy.

Elgyem.

Huh?

But we gradually got used to each other

and Elgyem started living here

hidden from the people of the village.

But then one day..

What in the world was that?

I've never seen such a strange vision

of space before.

- Elgyem. - 'Elgyem.'

Did you send that vision to me?

- Elgyem. - Now, wait.

If you did send me that vision

and if it's true that your predecessors

really did come from outer space.

Does that mean perhaps you want to return to outer space?

- Elgyem. - Is that a yes?

- Elgyem. - Or a no?

Elgyem.

I can't tell.

I guess I'll need to learn

how to communicate with you first.

A great many other scientists

have tried to analyze Elgyem's pattern of light flashes

but so far, no one has been successful.

Later, after observing Elgyem use Telekinesis

to move objects, I began to conduct research

into whether or not it could somehow be related

to dark matter.

I conducted my research quietly

and in secret.

Huh?

And that's why, when the people from the village came here

I'm certain Elgyem was trying to protect me.

That does makes complete sense.

It feels like it was Elgyem's fate

to meet a professor like you with such love for outer space.

Hey, Elgyem?

It was a good thing you met Professor Icarus, huh?

Elgyem.

[doorbell dings]

Is anyone home?

We're from the Space Agency.

- What did you say? - You heard right.

We've just completed our work on a machine

that can manipulate dark matter.

And because you are the foremost researcher

on the subject of dark matter

we'd like to present it to you first.

Of course. Please.

I'd be thrilled to see it.

Elgyem?

Our device can detect the location of hidden Pokemon

and then capture them from within its magnetic field.

Next, it takes the captured Pokemon

and disables their powers.

But why would you want to do that?

Oh, just one more thing.

When our device is activated

people are frozen motionless.

(all) Huh?

[screams]

Teleportation patterns analyzed.

[squealing]

Elgyem. Elgyem.

See? Just as we explained

the captured Pokemon can't use any moves.

Alright, who are you people anyway?

An unscienfically-based question, indeed.

The answer comes, as we feel the need.

You know the rest, we live for speed.

It's Team Rocket.

- I should've known it was you. - Pika.

Who's Team Rocket?

They're bad guys who steal

other people's Pokemon.

- Bad guys? No. - So, off we go.

Elgyem!

We've got to disable that machine.

Dwebble!

Quick, Dwebble, use X-Scissor

and destroy that machine so we can be freed.

X-a!

We've got to get Elgyem out of there.

- Quick. - Right.

I guess I'll have to use the flying saucer

I've been working on.

Please, professor

you need to take us with you.

I really shouldn't.

But we wanna help you rescue Elgyem.

Please, professor!

Hm.

Mm. Very well.

Okay, hang on tight. We're ready to go.

- (all) Yes, sir. - And lift off.

(all) 'Whoa!'

Something's coming up on us fast.

What?

Okay, Team Rocket, stop now.

Quick, Meowth, turn us around.

(Meowth) Roger that.

Woobat, take them out!

Woobat!

Tranquill, I choose you!

Tranquill.

Woobat, use Gust!

We'll use Gust too!

Yamask, Shadow Ball!

Ya!

Mask!

[squealing]

Oh, no. Tranquill!

Now, Axew, use Dragon Rage!

Axew!

Yew!

Now, Pansage.

'Use b*llet Seed and free Elgyem!'

Pan!

Elgyem?

- Elgyem! - Elgyem.

Alright, Pikachu, use Electro Ball, let's go!

Pika!

Pi-ka-chu!

Make a note of what just happened.

I'll mark it as future payback time.

In the meantime, Yamask, Night Shade.

[screaming]

We've got to get back to the lab.

We're going down!

Elgyem!

It was your Telekinesis that saved all of us.

- Thanks. - Elgyem.

But, what about your flying saucer?

I can always build that again.

It's really not all that important.

Huh? Hm.

(Cilan) 'Professor, what will you do'

'when your new saucer is completed?'

Let's see, my first order of business

will be to return Elgyem to outer space if possible.

- Huh? - Outer space? Really?

Yes, I'm actually quite aware

that I may be incorrect in my assumption

that Elgyem really does come from outer space

but we'll find out when we make the trip.

Alright. Awesome.

Wow, what a beautiful dream.

Elgyem, what do you say to a space trip together?

(all) Huh?

Elgyem seems really happy.

But why would Elgyem send us those images?

Hm. Huh? Maybe.

'Elgyem would rather stay here with the professor'

'instead of traveling into space.'

Is that true?

Elgyem.

Well then, for now

being housemates sounds good to me.

Does that sound good to you?

Elgyem!

You're welcome to visit again anytime.

Thanks so much. We would all love that.

Take care, professor.

Bye, for now.

(narrator) Although unable to communicate with words

it's their hearts that connect the professor and Elgyem.

As do our heroes hearts.

Their Nimbasa City journey continues.

- Oh? - Pika?

(narrator) A journey as limitless as outer space.
