Huntail, huh?

Gorebyss? Hm.

POKEDEX Huntail, the Deep Sea Pokémon.

Huntail is the evolved form of Clamperl.

It uses its fish-shaped tail to entice prey

before snapping it up in its large jaws.

POKEDEX Gorebyss, the South Sea Pokémon.

Gorebyss is the evolved form of Clamperl.

A powerful swimmer and beautiful to watch.

- Oh-oh.. - Oh-oh.

So they both evolve from Clamperl, Brock?

BROCK That's right.

Clamperl have a branching evolution.

Move it, girly. I'm way faster than you.

Seems kind of rough.

Those kids seem to be in a pretty big hurry

And they all wanna be the first to get there.

Seems the Twerps are headed off to another little island.

JESSIE 'Seems we're caught between a rock and a hard place.'

Gorebyss are much stronger and you know it.

Gorebyss are so super-strong it's not even funny!

Check it out, it's the same kids.

Actually, the kids that come from Islands B and C

have developed a real rivalry between them.

We saw 'em on the water and they were goin' at it.

You see, there are a large number of Clamperl living here.

And for some reason, they evolve into Gorebyss

over on Island B and into Huntail over on Island C.

So, everyone, adults and kids alike

are always arguing about which are better..

...Gorebyss or Huntail.

ASH That could go on forever.

MAY Doesn't seem like it's worth arguing about.

Hey, Mister, aren't Huntail better than Gorebyss?

Gorebyss are way better, right?

BOY You gotta admit that Gorebyss are totally cool.

GIRL But Huntail are so much stronger, they're the coolest.

You can learn an awful lot about Pokémon

by simply playing with them.

Clamperl evolve under certain conditions.

People around here say that Clamperl evolve into Gorebyss

on Island B and evolve into Huntail

if they're on Island C.

- That so? - Yeah.

My Clamperl became a Gorebyss on Island B.

And my Clamperl became a Huntail on Island C.

PROFESSOR BIRCH In order for a Clamperl to evolve into a Huntail

a DeepSeaTooth is needed.

While a DeepSeaScale is necessary

for a Clamperl to evolve into a Gorebyss.

- DeepSeaTooth? - A DeepSeaScale?

I've always thought it's best for both the Trainer

and the Pokémon if it evolves

into the Pokémon you really want.

and Huntail swimming laps?

That's right and those are the perfect gift

for the Boss's wild side.

I didn't know he had one.

MEOWTH He'll use that Gorebyss and Huntail

and probably go extreme surfin' on top of them.

And having a complete evolutionary set

won't hurt neither, I can hear him now..

[Meowth imitates Boss] "That was awfully nice of Meowth and his friends

to give me this fully evolved pair of Poké Pals."

But taking that thought one step further

wouldn't a five-piece Eevee evolutionary set be better?

Who cares what's better? We go with what we got!

And what I've got is the perfect plan.

Professor, have you figured out how they evolve?

Well, it appears the water in both caverns

comes from deep under the sea.

While the water from Island C contains particles

of DeepSeaTooth, the water from Island B

contains particles of DeepSeaScale.

So, if the water has DeepSeaTooth and DeepSeaScale

the caverns must have it too, right, Professor?

Let's go and investigate further.
