Lurking Fear, The (2023)

Post by bunniefuu »

(tense dramatic music)

- "Inside History," roll three, episode 26,

interview, Andrew Seville.

(slate clacking)

- [Director] Andrew, come on over,

and, uh, step in front of the camera.

The blue tape on the floor, that's the mark, yes.

Very good.

(Andrew clears throat)

Now, let's start with your name.

- Andrew Seville.

- "Inside History," roll three, episode 26, take one.

(slate clacking)

- [Director] Camera set?

Action!

- Welcome back, thrill seekers.

This building behind me is the capital of creepy.

It's walls are empty now,

but this was once ground zero

for t*rture, torment, and despair,

or as they liked to call it an 1801, therapy.

Welcome to Martense.

- [Director] And cut!

How's that feel?

(eerie dramatic music)

(engines humming)

- Who's this?

- Oliver Martense.

- Notice the eyes.

Heterochromium.

- Oh, heterochromium iridium.

You've done your homework. - It's my job.

If I'm not mistaken, that's actually a family trait, right?

(soft eerie music)

Martense didn't just treat patients, he studied them.

Even after their deaths,

the bodies were autopsied right here on the premises.

Now, maybe it was his research that kept Martense

out of the spotlight,

but this rockstar did not receive the same fame

as his contemporaries like Jung and Freud.

He disappeared from the public eye completely,

leaving nothing behind but a crumbling estate.

- [Director] You know what? Let's sh**t the rehearsal.

- "Inside History," roll three, episode 26,

sh**ting rehearsal. (slate clacking)

- Oliver Martense built a cutting-edge medical facility.

These walls would soon be filled

with the mentally ill and criminally insane.

(engine rumbling)

Did you ever think when a hearse goes by

That you might be the next to die

They wrap you in a bloody sheet

And throw you in about six feet

(eerie chiming music) (engine humming)

(engine revving)

(laces rustling)

(eerie chiming music continues)

- "Inside History," roll three, episode 26,

interview with Andrew Seville.

(slate clacking)

- Scheduled for the wrecking ball,

the last vestiges of Martense will soon be wiped clean.

Where's that go?

- Not really sure, it's a very large complex.

(door clattering)

- Do you have a key for this?

- Uh, it says to keep out.

- Inside history, right?

Well, let's find out what's inside.

- [Crew] Doesn't wanna open? (bag thudding)

- I think it's been nailed shut.

Sealed off from the public for years,

these tunnels should provide an even deeper look

into Martense's checkered past.

Getting to the good stuff now, right, Andy?

- [Director] What intrigues you the most about Martense?

- He was a, uh, he was a visionary.

(eerie chiming music)

Uh, at the beginning of the 20th century,

mental illness was treated primarily through prayer

and burning at the stake.

You see, Martense was one of the first to approach a cure

from the medical standpoint.

- [Director] What were, what were some of his theories?

(strap rasping)

- His theories?

(eerie chiming music) (buckles clattering)

Bodily fluids and their magnetic properties.

(dark creepy music)

(air whooshing)

(dark creepy music)

(air whooshing)

- There is a definite chill in the air,

and you can almost begin to imagine

what it would've been like to be locked up here.

Now, the electricity is inoperable,

so we're gonna have to do our best in the dark.

How deep does this go?

(eerie suspenseful music)

(gate squeaking)

(eerie suspenseful music)

(birds squawking) (eerie suspenseful music)

(eerie suspenseful music continues)

(patient screaming)

(switch clicking) (bright calliope music)

(patient screaming and gasping)

(baby crying) (bright calliope music)

(baby crying) (dark creepy music)

- [Patient] No! No!

- [Mike] One of the patients couldn't take it anymore.

Legend has it she poisoned Dr. Martense,

thus sealing his fate for much worse.

(footsteps plodding) (dark creepy music)

(monsters roaring) (dark creepy music)

(engine humming)

(gravel crunching)

- Hey, buddy.

I got this one, all right? (knuckles rapping)

- Go ahead.

I know how protective you are of these lands,

but it's f*cking weird someone wants to be here.

- (chuckles) Yeah.

(door squeaking) (door slamming)

(footsteps plodding)

(door clattering)

(door slamming)

Excuse me, uh, I hate to interrupt,

but, uh, what the hell are you doing here?

- What it looks like we're doing here,

filming a reality TV show.

The, uh, "The Grim Reality."

- (laughs) "Grim Reality." - [Director] Familiar?

- Yeah, I'm very familiar with grim reality,

but I just never heard of your stupid f*ckin' show.

- Any idea what channel we're on in this forsaken town?

Anyone?

- The best one?

- The best one. (laughing)

She's pretty funny.

- [Director] I keep her around.

- You know, this is a private property.

In fact, it's, uh, sacred property,

and it's protected by the county

and by the police, all right?

So, you need to pack up all your little shit and leave.

- Well, I apologize to ya, but, uh,

we have permission to both be here and film here.

- Really?

Who'd you get that from?

- From whom I'm thinking is your boss,

Sheriff Nassar, Nazar.

- There's no f*cking way that he told you that.

It never happened.

- You can have your partner use the little walkie talkie

there and give him a call.

Or, you guys can hang out. He'll probably be here soon.

He, uh, he negotiated himself a cameo.

(deputy laughing)

- Hey, listen, you ignorant Hollywood assh*le,

this property is abandoned.

It's dangerous.

You need to get the f*ck outta here.

I'm warning you now, okay?

You wanna stay here and be a victim

of your own f*cking circumstances,

come face-to-face with your ignorance, it's up to you.

- Well, been coming face-to-face

with my own ignorance all my life.

- And look where it got ya (laughing).

You hear that?

Well, that's what got you right here, right?

- Well, officer, why don't, uh,

you and your partner go help yourselves

to our coffee and donuts, uh, before you leave?

(officers and director laughing)

- About that. (director sighs)

(chair creaking)

f*ck you.

(director exhales)

(deputy sighs)

Let's get outta here.

- [Director] What'd I say?

- [Assistant] I, nothing, I thought you were very nice.

You offered them coffee and donuts.

- [Director] Mm, go figure. - [Assistant] I know.

(soft eerie music)

(soft eerie music) (cars humming)

(water pattering)

(footsteps plodding) (soft eerie music)

- [Andrew] It's Hallaran's chair.

- [Mike] Hallaran's chair.

- It's an advanced form of therapy.

The patient would sit there,

and the orderly would control the lever.

(eerie suspenseful music) (air whooshing)

It was capable of 100 rotations for minute.

(chair clattering) (air whooshing)

- Was it effective?

- Very.

It would subdue the most intemperate patient.

- The air down here is so dead.

(eerie suspenseful music)

- It's these soundproof tiles.

- No one can hear you scream.

(intense dramatic music) (blood splattering)

(light thuds) (cameraman thuds)

(body rasping)

(phone ringing)

- Crystal, I'm on location.

I'm sorry, I meant to return your call.

- [Crystal] Have you heard from him?

- [Marilyn] No.

Uh, well, yeah, he checked in yesterday, actually.

Footage has been uploaded. We've been cutting.

- It's so weird.

He hasn't been answering his phone.

- [Marilyn] You know how he is.

Sometimes he gets caught up in work.

- [Crystal] He was supposed to be here.

- Well.

Actually, you know what? They wrapped late.

They wrapped late last night.

- It's my opening.

- Shit.

You know, honey, I'm so sorry.

Things have just been so crazy over here.

- [Crystal] He was excited about it.

- I know. Of course, he is.

- [Crystal] Well, how's it turn out?

- [Marilyn] I haven't left yet.

(door clattering)

(sighs) Well, it's an important night.

You need to go enjoy yourself.

- Have you heard from David?

- No, he's another one.

You know they get caught up, and all hell breaks loose.

- I'm seriously worried.

- We've had this conversation before.

- This is different.

- [Marilyn] No, no, no, no.

Mike gets busy with his life,

and you think it's something else.

- I'm not- - [Marilyn] He's a good boy.

Trust me.

- Wait, that's not what I'm worried about.

- [Marilyn] Okay, then go enjoy your night, okay?

For me.

(suspenseful music)

(suspenseful music continues)

(siren wailing)

(suspenseful music continues)

(gentle choral music) (gravel crunching)

All things wise and wonderful

The Lord God made them all

Each little flower that opens

- Come on, Trudy.

Each little bird that sings

He made their glowing colors

He made their tiny wings

All things bright and beautiful

- Excuse me, sir.

- Better to have the animal on a leash, miss.

- She's pretty harmless.

- I'll have to let her off with a warning, I guess.

- I'm looking for someone.

- That's my son.

Second to the left in the back.

- He's with "Inside History."

- The TV show? - Yes, Mike Campbell.

He's my fiance.

- Yeah, he was sh**ting up at the institute.

I gave them an interview there myself.

- But I haven't heard from him since yesterday.

- They had a pretty full schedule.

They threw a heck of a bash at the rotary last night.

They probably had a few too many.

- No, Mike doesn't drink.

- [Sheriff] We need 48 hours to officially file anything.

- Sir, I can't wait that long.

- We can go back to my office and file paperwork.

Only, I have things I gotta handle here.

- [Crystal] Take me to Martense.

- No, it's locked up,

and that's not a place to be wandering around.

- Please, just- - Now, if you'll excuse me.

- Just for an hour. (audience applauding)

And then you get to hang out in the park again.

- I got a job to do, and like I said,

this is a pretty big day in our little hamlet.

- Protect and serve, right? That's the saying?

- This isn't New York City, ma'am.

- [Crystal] Trudy, come on.

Okay, Trudy.

(door slamming)

(Crystal sighs) (eerie suspenseful music)

(hand thudding) (keys jangling)

(eerie suspenseful music)

(keys jangling) (engine starting)

(eerie suspenseful music)

(gravel crunching)

(footsteps plodding)

Mike!

(eerie suspenseful music)

(footsteps plodding)

(eerie suspenseful music)

(footsteps plodding)

(eerie suspenseful music)

Mike!

Mike!

(door squeaking)

(phone buzzing)

Marilyn, hello?

Hello?

(building clattering) (eerie suspenseful music)

(footsteps plodding)

Trudy?

(eerie suspenseful music)

Trudy!

(Crystal screaming)

(Crystal whimpering)

(body thudding) (phone thudding)

(dark creepy music)

(Crystal groaning)

(Crystal breathing heavily)

(Crystal groaning in pain)

(Crystal breathing heavily)

Help!

(dark creepy music) (Crystal breathing heavily)

(building clattering)

(people screaming)

(dark creepy music)

(toy clicking)

(dark creepy music)

(building creaking) (dark creepy music)

(switch clicking) (music stops)

(eerie exhaling) (person screaming)

(person screaming)

(people screaming) (dark creepy music)

(monster growling)

(eerie suspenseful music)

(Crystal gasping) (feet shuffling)

(door thudding) (Crystal grunting)

Help!

(door thudding) (Crystal grunting)

Help!

Somebody please help!

(door clattering) (Crystal grunting)

(Crystal gasping) (eerie suspenseful music)

(Crystal breathing shakily)

(Crystal breathing heavily)

(camera beeping)

(Crystal breathing heavily)

- The air down here is so dead.

- It's these soundproof tiles.

- No one can hear you scream (chuckles).

(monster roaring) (light clatters)

(cameraman thudding)

(body rasping)

(Mike breathing heavily)

David, David.

Hey, I have no idea what's going on.

There was, there was a scream, and somebody got hit.

There's blood everywhere.

David, David.

Look, I dunno what the hell's going on here,

but to hell with Martense and his bullshit bodily fluids

and magnetics properties theory.

If you ask me, he was nothing but a crazy pedophile

on a power trip.

He not only was abusing the patients,

he was raping them, most of 'em girls, not even teenagers.

That was until he r*ped a 16-year-old girl,

impregnated her, and she m*rder*d his ass, poisoned him.

Yeah, sounds like a great idea, right?

Wrong.

So, after Martense died, they ate his body,

turned on the rest of the staff, m*rder*d and ate them, too,

nobody left to take care of 'em. What else could they do?

Shit, I gotta find David and get the hell outta here.

If you ask me, this place is f*cked.

And if I do get out, I'm gonna burn this place

to the ground myself. (monster roaring)

(eerie suspenseful music)

(water pattering)

(eerie suspenseful music)

(eerie suspenseful music continues)

(soft gentle music)

(dark ominous music) (Crystal gasping)

(equipment clanking)

(Crystal screaming) (monster roaring)

- Crystal!

(monster roaring)

(Crystal screaming) (intense dramatic music)

Crystal.

(Crystal whimpering)

Are you okay?

- It's there. Something's following me.

- [Sheriff] I don't see anything.

- It's there. It f*cking grabbed me.

- All right, let's back it up.

No, no, no, it's okay.

This is Andrew Seville. He's here to help us.

(intense dramatic music)

(Crystal gasping)

- [Marilyn] Crystal, Crystal, calm down. It's okay.

- Marilyn. - Yes, it's me.

- Are you hurt?

- Something was behind me.

- [Sheriff] What was it?

- [Tony] I didn't see anything.

- Can you gimme a break from that f*cking camera?

- [Tony] Sorry.

- You scared the hell outta me back there,

all that's screaming.

- I've been trapped in here since this afternoon.

- I know.

Have you found, have you found Mike and the others?

- It isn't safe down here.

- You know this place best. Is it safe?

- I heard someone, someone calling for help.

- Was it your friend?

- [Crystal] Mike. - [Marilyn] Are you sure?

- What?

- [Andrew] You don't believe her?

- Sometimes you see things down here.

- What?

I, I saw a radio, and, and I found a camera.

Mike, he was on it.

- [Marilyn] Where?

- f*ck, I, I, I dropped it. - Where is it?

- Out there when I was running.

- [Sheriff] Could you show us?

- Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I could show you guys.

(Sheriff groaning)

- Listen, I can't catch my breath.

- So what, am I crazy? - How's your chest feeling?

- Paul. - It's not in-

- Where's your pills, buddy? - [Tony] Wait, what?

- Yeah, he had a heart attack last year.

- Shit, you brought us down here, and you're sick?

(pills rattling)

- [Officer] There you go, buddy.

- [Sheriff] Go find your friend.

- Someone should stay with him.

He looks like shit.

- You all right?

- [Sheriff] I feel like an elephant's sitting on my chest.

- I'll stay.

- Go, I'm in good hands.

- Sure?

Let's go. - Let's go.

All right, stay with me.

Stay with me.

- [Officer] How far up was it?

- It was here. - [Officer] Mm-hmm.

- I remember this stairway.

I was holding the camera, and then I,

I dropped it right here.

(footsteps plodding)

- [Marilyn] There's nothing. - No, it has to be here.

- No. - I, I was-

- There's nothing.

- Marilyn, I was holding the camera.

It was the only camera (person screaming)

I was holding.

It was the only light I had, and, and I saw people.

I saw, I saw this woman, and then I just run,

and I lost it.

- Maybe it's further up. - Maybe.

- I mean, do you remember the stairway?

- Yeah, of course I do.

- All right, stay close to me.

(suspenseful music) (person screaming)

(flame hissing)

(flare thudding)

(water pattering) (suspenseful music)

- I should be home with my wife and kids.

Probably having dinner right now.

I could smell it when I left.

Pot roast.

- You have much too strong a sense of responsibility

toward your community for that, Sheriff.

- I got a job to do, Seville.

I take that serious.

(suspenseful music) (water pattering)

- You think you could walk?

- I'm so dizzy.

- We need to get you out of here.

- Fallen to the back of the herd, I guess.

(suspenseful music)

- Oof, lovely smell.

- Yeah, excrement, smells like sewer.

Probably that leech fill through the old way.

- [Tony] f*ck me. - Oh.

Oh, oh, f*ck.

Was a bat. - So?

- Okay, uh, we missed it.

We've gone way too far.

- Uh, maybe we should go back then. I mean, it's-

- Hey look, you were locked down here alone in the dark.

I'd be scared out of my mind, too.

- Wait, you don't believe me?

- There are reasons why we see things in places like this,

literally scientific reasons.

Infrasound, electromagnetic fields, mold.

Crystal, I mean, this place is dripping-

- Marilyn, this is- - Literally dripping in this.

- No, this is real. (eerie suspenseful music)

- I, I don't blame you.

I'd be scared, too.

- Shh, shh, shh, shh, shh.

Listen. (water dripping)

Do you hear it?

(water dripping)

- I don't hear anything. - Shh.

- Sorry. f*ck.

(water dripping)

- I told you there's somebody here.

(water dripping)

- Dying here.

(static hissing) How you doing, Eli?

- [Eli] We're all back, back tight in here.

- Copy that.

- Tough as to pit bull, that one.

(static hissing)

(airy music)

What the hell?

(airy music)

- [Marilyn] Maybe she did see somebody.

Maybe you don't stop sh**ting.

Look at this place.

This place is crazy.

- [Tony] We've gone too deep, guys.

It's your call.

- [Marilyn] We'll go back.

- No, no. - [Marilyn] Yes.

- Mike is in here somewhere here.

- If he's here, we'll find him, all right?

- Yeah. - [Officer] She's right.

- Yeah, we'll find him.

- [Officer] We should go back. - [Tony] All right.

- [Officer] Let's go.

- This whole place is like a cancer.

When I push for mayor,

I'm gonna run on the promise to tear this place down.

(water pattering)

- Everything comes full circle, how ironic.

- Huh?

- In 1895, the mayor, Temples,

commissioned Oliver Martense to construct this edifice,

and now you wanna tear it down.

The demolition mayor. (laughs)

- What? - Ah.

(water pattering)

Maybe the problem wasn't the rats in the first place.

- What are you talking about, Seville?

- Maybe the problem was hypocrisy,

for thinking you could have what you want

without paying a price.

See?

Huh?

You can't, you can't take the mentally ill

and pretend they don't exist.

You can't do that.

Shove them away when

no one acknowledges that.

That'll cost you something.

(water pattering)

It's time to pay the piper.

Somebody has to pay the piper.

(dark eerie music)

See?

I know things.

You shouldn't have come here.

You should not have come here.

I'm so sorry.

You're a nice person,

but I don't think you're gonna run for mayor. (laugh)

You should have had your pot roast. (laughs)

(eerie suspenseful music) (creature breathing heavily)

- We need to get a team on this.

Let's film a special.

"The Real Spirit of Martense."

- [Officer] I say we get the f*ck out of here.

- Think about Brian. He loves his stuff.

Just get what you can.

(crew screaming)

(intense dramatic music)

(monster growling)

(body thudding)

(monster growling)

(eerie suspenseful music)

- Where is he?

Oh my God.

I told you guys there's something down here.

- What? What is that?

- [Crystal] What is that? - An SP101.

- Whoa, you know how to use that thing?

- I'm from Miami.

I know how to use it.

- I just don't nobody to get shot-

- Just get outta my way.

(eerie suspenseful music)

(monster growling)

- [Crystal] Oh my God!

Tony!

Oh my God!

- Okay, listen.

I'm gonna need your help, okay?

We're gonna apply some pressure

and we're gonna roll him over, all right?

Stay with me.

One, two, three, nice and easy.

Apply pressure. Ah!

(creature growling)

Who is it? Who is it?

- Please, don't sh**t!

- [Officer] Where's Walt?

- They ate his f*ckin' face!

- sh**t!

We gotta get outta here.

- Oh god.

- Okay, listen. Keep applying pressure.

- We gotta get out. - To a room.

There's a door leading outside.

- One, two, three.

(Crystal grunting)

We should all go together.

Just go.

- Wait. What about Mike?

- You have a p*stol, right?

I'll stay behind and see what I can find.

- We should all stay together, okay?

- Grab a corner.

- [Crystal] I'm not going anywhere with him.

- Grab that corner. Be careful, okay?

- [Marilyn] Yeah, I got him.

- Crystal, it's your last chance.

- Let's go get Mike.

(footsteps plodding)

(monster growling) (dramatic music)

- Walt was a good man.

He knew I was headin' down a bad path.

He believed in me anyway.

He gave me a chance when nobody else did.

- I'm so sorry.

(building creaking)

- We're gonna, we're gonna find your fiance.

- He loved these places.

- Yeah, I've seen the shows.

- He was never comfortable in it,

the whole hosting thing.

I pushed him to do it.

One more season.

One more season and we'd be set

and he could do anything he wanted.

And now because of me he might be-

- No, no, look.

Whatever weird shit that's happening here

is not 'cause of you.

We're gonna figure it out.

Okay?

We're gonna figure this out.

We're gonna stop it.

We're gonna stop it.

Let's go.

(Tony coughing)

- I'm so sorry.

- [Tony] Thirsty. (coughing)

Thirsty.

- He needs something to drink.

- [Marilyn] Yeah. - You have anything?

Yeah, I do.

(Tony coughing)

- Let me see. Okay, okay.

It's okay.

- Breathe. Just breathe.

- [Andrew] Here you go.

Oops. Get it, get it.

I got ya. Stay still.

(eerie suspenseful music)

You have a handkerchief?

- Yeah, it's in my.

(Marilyn and Andrew speaking indistinctly)

Where's my bag?

(creature growling) (Marilyn yelping)

What the f*ck?

- [Andrew] What?

- Something's in there. - It's just a kid.

It's just a little child.

Just calm down. It's just a child.

- It isn't a child!

If there was a child, there's an adult close by.

(monster growling) (g*n firing)

(officer breathing heavily)

(g*n sh*ts echoing)

- [Crystal] Is that g*n sh*ts?

- Something else.

Someone's in pain.

(intense dramatic music)

(Crystal breathing shakily)

(intense dramatic music)

(Crystal gasping)

(intense dramatic music)

- [Marilyn] Wait, wait. I have to look at this.

- No.

We should keep away.

- These are human.

At least they once were.

They have adapted to live down here.

I mean, they were once human, at least.

Look at those eyes.

- Heterochromia.

- Yeah.

They're not regular offspring.

Heterochromia is inherited, right?

- One of Martense's dirty little secrets.

- I gotta get this.

- [Andrew] We should go.

It's best we keep moving.

(camera beeping)

(Crystal breathing shakily)

- Mike.

(Crystal breathing heavily)

(Crystal breathing shakily) (dark creepy music)

Oh my god.

Mike.

- [Officer] He will be fed on.

(Crystal breathing shakily)

(monster growling)

Crystal, run!

Crystal, we gotta go right now!

(g*n firing)

We gotta go now, Crystal!

(punch smacking)

(knife slashing) (dark eerie music)

- Can't seem to, I'm confused here.

- [Marilyn] What do you mean you're confused?

- [Andrew] I'm just confused.

I, I just- - [Marilyn] Go back!

What, what is this place?

- Didn't I tell you? - [Marilyn] What is it?

- This is your end.

(Marilyn thudding) (dark ominous music)

- Mike.

(kisses smacking) (Crystal sobbing)

(Crystal breathing heavily)

Hang in there, baby.

Okay, come on. We gotta go.

(Crystal screaming) (knife slashing)

- We have to go!

We have to get out! - Come on.

(Mike grunting) (Crystal gasping)

- Oh.

(Mike grunting) (Crystal gasping)

- [Crystal] Okay, this way, this way.

(Mike grunting) (Crystal gasping)

(Mike yelps)

(Mike gasping) (Crystal gasping)

I'm gonna get you out of here.

I'm gonna get you out of here.

- No!

Wait.

(Mike grunting) (Crystal gasping)

It's the weekend.

(Crystal sobbing)

- Once I saw this place,

once I was stuck here I thought

there'd be no way you'd still be alive.

- They k*lled everyone.

(Crystal sobbing)

Babe.

Thought I'd never see you again.

Jacob. Jacob's gone.

Jacob was right next to me.

(Mike talks indistinctly)

They came in.

Everyone was screaming.

Everyone was screaming. (sobbing)

- Oh my god.

- He went

to sterilize.

I was just waiting to die.

- I'm so sorry, baby. I'm so sorry.

I'm gettin' you outta here.

I'm gettin' you outta here, baby, okay?

We gotta go. - No, no, no, please.

- [Crystal] Baby, please.

(Mike grunting)

(dark eerie music)

- Oh, thank god.

- Care to join me for dinner?

(dark eerie music)

(creatures growling)

(Crystal sobbing)

(creatures growling) (mellow jazz music)

(Andrew laughs) (Crystal whimpering)

- You're not going anywhere.

You may as well just relax.

(Crystal whimpering) If you weren't such a talker,

I wouldn't have to put tape on your mouth.

Who's calling the sh*ts now? (laughs)

(Mike grunting)

It's amazing.

Made this in the dark.

Oh, it's a symphony of whimpering.

(mimics victim's whimpering)

Can't stand that weakness.

Pathetic.

(mellow piano music) (victims whimpering)

Cheers.

(mellow piano music) (victims whimpering)

- You know, when I inherited this position,

my father, he never pulled me aside

to give me one of those passing of the torch moments.

(mellow piano music)

See, Daddy was,

well, he wasn't father of the year, my dear.

Drank too much. (chuckles)

And was never one to spare the rod,

if you know what I mean.

(mellow piano music)

You're going to be difficult.

(eerie dark music)

And for this

you take this.

(Crystal sobbing)

Then this,

and it separates (hammer tapping)

(Crystal sobbing)

the neuro pathways from the frontal lobe.

(creature growling) (dark eerie music)

(creature chewing)

(Crystal whimpering)

And that renders

the patient

absolutely without any sense or feeling.

(fist pounds) (Crystal sobbing)

Am I good?

(Crystal sobbing)

Let us begin.

My great-great-grandfather owned a morgue,

so we had an endless supply of dead bodies.

But I found that I prefer fresh meat.

(saw cutting) (flesh squelching)

(Crystal sobbing)

Want a taste?

(leg thudding)

(creatures growling) (Crystal whimpering)

I am a river to my people! (laughs)

You see, the gene pool has been compromised

from all the inbreeding.

So I'm very pleased that you're here.

Tommy.

(eerie synth music)

(door creaking)

(eerie synth music)

(eerie synth music continues)

(eerie synth music continues)

- Hey.

Can you let me out?

Please let me out. (crying)

It's not working?

(Crystal gasping)

(toy winding)

(Crystal breathing shakily)

I can fix it,

but I need something.

A tool.

With a tool I can make it work again.

(Crystal sobbing)

Wait, wait. Come back, come back.

Don't go! (sobbing)

(screwdriver thuds)

(Crystal sobbing)

I'm gonna fix it.

It's gonna work.

See? See, I told you.

(toy winding)

Now, look. Look, it's working.

(toy clicking)

Can you let me out, though?

Huh?

Please?

Please don't leave me here.

Please don't leave, no, no.

No, no. (sobbing)

Please let me out.

Please don't go, please.

Please come back.

(lock clicks) (gate creaks)

(intense dramatic music) (Crystal gasping)

(Crystal grunting)

(creatures growling)

(intense dramatic music)

Oh, Trudy!

(intense dramatic music)

(creatures roaring) (intense dramatic music)

(intense dramatic music continues)

(Crystal gasping)

No!

(Crystal gasping)

- Settle down. Settle down.

That's right.

We were blessed with a calling.

A purpose.

What purpose did you have out there?

Wanting someone else's m*rder.

- You took everything away from me.

- What did you really have?

What?

You had a relationship with a man who only loved himself.

- You're wrong.

- A world of money and greed.

Nothing but emptiness.

And what would you have at the end, Crystal?

May I call you Crystal, yes?

(Crystal whimpering)

I've waited for you.

You're so beautiful.

With me, us.

I will crown you the new Eve.

And more than another bite of the apple.

Then you'll have a true purpose.

- I have a different kind of purpose in mind.

- [Andrew] Hmm? (g*n firing)

(soft eerie music)

(g*n clatters)

(soft eerie music)

- It's over.

It's over.

(Andrew thuds)

(intense dramatic music) (creatures growling)

(Crystal gasping)

- Please, God.

(Crystal gasping) (dramatic music)

(intense dramatic music)

(intense dramatic music continues)

(intense dramatic music continues)

(intense dramatic music continues)

(Crystal gasping)

- Oh my god.

(tires screeching) (Crystal thuds)

- [Officer] What the f*ck was that?

- I don't know!

I don't know. I don't f*ckin' know.

Hey, hold on. Probably an animal.

I hit an animal. It's not a big thing.

A dog or something.

Relax.

- Ever tell you once I hit a bison?

- No.

- It was out on Glodo Pass.

That little son of a bitch destroyed my whole front end.

- Where the f*ck were you when you hit a bison?

- f*ckin' Montana.

If you ever complain about this dried up town,

nothing to do here, f*ckin' go to Montana.

Now can I go see what's out there?

- Sure. - Thank god.

- I can't believe this is happening, all right?

This is not happening.

This is crazy.

It's been a long day.

- [Officer] She is a bloody mess.

- Oh my god.

- [Officer] I gotta get an ambulance.

Listen, this is not your fault, okay?

- You know what? - [Officer] Partner, it's not.

- [Hanson] She has nothing on her. She has no ID or nothing.

- [Officer] Ambulance is on its way.

- [Hanson] Okay, good.

What did you say? What did you say?

- Where am I? - Oh, she's alive!

Look at her! She's alive!

She's talkin', man!

- [Officer] Uh, you've had an accident, okay?

Ambulance is on its way.

- [Hanson] I thought she was dead.

- [Officer] You're gonna be fine.

(Crystal whispering indistinctly)

- Over at the Martense Institute.

Mike.

Mike and the film crew.

They're dead.

m*rder*d.

- [Officer] TV show crew? They're dead?

- Listen, don't get all excited, all right?

She smacked her head on the road.

She's delirious.

- [Crystal] They k*lled a sheriff, too.

- [Hanson] They'll make it to you.

- [Officer] No, no.

- They k*lled him last night.

- Delirious or not, we gotta take this shit seriously.

- All right, give me a minute to figure this out.

- The f*ck you gotta figure out?

Just listen.

You stay with her.

I'm gonna go to the Martense Institute.

I wanna see this for myself.

- No, no, no, no.

I'm gonna go. You stay here, all right?

No, you go with me.

- We can't leave her in the middle of the road

and we can't move her, either.

So, look at you.

You're too frazzled to even-

- I'm traumatized, for God's sake!

- [Officer] Exactly!

Just wait for the ambulance to come

and meet me there after.

And bring some backup just in case, okay?

- I'm gonna go by myself.

You stay here and I'll go by myself.

- There's so many creatures.

They k*lled everyone.

They k*lled the sheriff.

They r*ped me.

They cut off my boyfriend's leg and ate it.

I was r*ped.

They ate his leg.

They ate Michael's leg like some kind

of diabolical animals.

- [Officer] Hey, Hanson. - Yeah?

- Can you believe this shit?

- I believe every single word she said.

(punch smacking)

- Why the f*ck did you do that?

- Listen, honey, I'm sorry,

but I hit ya on purpose.

And now I, I gotta hit ya again.

(punch smacking) (Crystal grunting)

(dark eerie music)

Honey.

Honey, honey.

Wake up, honey. Wake up.

Honey, hey. It's me.

(Hanson cackling)

Well, you know,

I'm gonna have a little chitchat

with my partner over there.

Little heart-to-heart.

But I'm gonna ask you one question.

Why did you do this to my brother's shirt?

I mean, look at it.

Come on. Look, you ruined it.

Why?

- I can't move.

Why can't I move?

- Because what I gave you,

it cause a conscious neuromuscular paralysis,

which means you can speak, but you can't move.

All right?

And it's available in all the high-class

mental institutions all over the country.

Yeah.

And so, you know, it's gonna f*ck you up

to the point where, you know, you can talk,

but you can't move. (laughs)

It's available in all the finest nuthouses

all over the world.

You know, you're my partner.

I love you, man.

But, you know, you're f*cked up now,

and it's only gonna get worse from here on out.

(Hanson laughing)

Listen, I believe that I described it correctly, okay?

So if, I mean, you have a question,

why don't you ask your best friend, the roadkill,

right over there.

- What the f*ck is goin' on?

And why are you dressed like that?

Huh? Uh.

- Actually, it's a question that needs

to be answered by a higher power than me, all right?

And you're gonna meet who I'm talkin' about

any minute now, so you can ask him yourself, all right?

Partner.

- Why are you doing this?

What the f*ck is goin' on?

- Let me tell ya why I woke both of you up.

Because I didn't want you to miss out

on the best part of the entertainment.

(hands clapping)

And you,

I have a funny feelin' you're gonna start yellin'.

(tape ripping)

Can't have you screamin' around here.

(officer screaming)

You're my partner and all,

but I can't deal with the screaming,

the screaming and yelling.

Okay?

All right, well, see?

This is my favorite toy

and it only hurts on the way in, all right?

(drill creaking)

Wow.

Who invented that?

Okay. (laughs)

(intense dramatic music) (officer screaming)

(flesh squelching) (drill creaking)

(officer screaming) (dark eerie music)

I'm sorry.

No.

Sorry, 'cause it kind of hurts on the way out, too.

(Hanson grunts)

(dark eerie music)

The scream.

A final act of desperation.

(officer gasping)

'Cause you're chicken shit to die, right?

Let's see what roadkill has to say.

Ba-da-bump-bump-bump!

(Crystal murmurs indistinctly)

Huh?

I tell you somethin',

take a little more from ya.

(Crystal whimpering)

(Crystal whimpering)

- [Victim] No! No! No!

No, no, no, no.

No!

- Listen, I have to apologize because, well,

it took me three pokes to get in there, okay?

You know, I mean, I'm usually good for one, see?

The conscious neuromuscular paralysis.

You hear me? You heard me, yeah.

That's what you have.

- No! No! No!

- You can say stuff and make sounds,

but you can't f*ckin' move. (victim sobbing)

Well, you know.

It's a terrible situation.

Oh, wait a second. I have somethin' for ya.

(victim screaming)

Now, imagine that.

A liver.

It smell like vinegar to you? Remember?

We had a little chitchat about vinegar?

On your movie set.

Remember that? (victim sobbing)

(victim screaming)

All you have to tell me is what you prefer.

Do you prefer to be loved or devoured?

Which is it? Loved or devoured?

(victim screaming)

What? What's that?

I can't tell what you choose.

Loved or devoured? (victim screaming)

You're not making any sense.

All right, listen.

Take her to the devil's picnic room, okay?

A picnic lunch.

Guys.

Come and get her!

She's gonna go to the devil's picnic, all right?

Come on!

Come and get her!

- No! No! No!

(victim screaming)

No! No! No!

No! No!

(victim screaming)

(dark eerie music) (victim screaming)

(victim sobbing)

(victim screaming) (dark eerie music)

(victim screaming) (dark eerie music)

(dark eerie music)

(creatures growling) (dark eerie music)

(Crystal vomiting)

(dark eerie music) (Crystal coughing)

(Crystal sobbing)

(person screaming)
