- Silence and calm have fallen over the great house

at Collinwood, providing those who live there

with a false sense of security.

No one is aware of the dangers this night will bring.

At the old house on the Collin's Estate,

a strange confrontation is taking

place between Barnabas Collins and the creature known as Adam.

- You made me different from other people, Barnabas,

and you never told me.

You never told me that I was a creature.

- Adam, I was not responsible for your creation.

- Yes you were.

- No, it was Dr. Lange.

- Dr. Lange, I do not know Dr. Lange.

I've never met Dr. Lange.

But it was you that I remember standing at the table when

I opened my eyes.

- And ever since then you thought I created you?

but you created me and made me ugly,

and that is why people are afraid of me.

like me could love me and be with me all the time.

That is why, Barnabas, you will create for me a woman.

Adam, it is not within my power to create life.

to create life artificially.

- No one else knows.

I have to leave soon, Barnabas, and I want an answer.

- I've already given you your answer.

If you stay here until Dr. Hoffman arrives,

then you will know how impossible

it is to grant what you want.

She'll be able to explain the reasons better than I can.

- She is your friend, Barnabas, not mine.

She would lie for you.

- Adam, whoever's been teaching you has not done you any favor

by making you so cynical.

- All I know is that what I want to be done can be done.

And you have the power to do it, but you refuse.

You will be very sorry, Barnabas.

For your decision, you will be very sorry.

- Adam.

- Barnabas, you just can't let him go.

You've got to stop him.

- There's no way of stopping him now, Willie.

- Oh, yes, there is.

- Before Lange died he recorded a message on tape.

- Well, that must have been the tape that little David was

talking about.

- What do you mean?

- He came here a couple of weeks ago.

He was looking for Dr. Hoffman.

He had a tape recorder with him, and he asked a lot of questions

about you. - What kind of questions?

- I don't know.

I didn't pay any attention to him.

I just thought he was being nosy, so I sent him on home.

- And you don't remember anything of what he said?

- What are you so upset for?

- Because what's on that recorder is important to me.

- Why?

- I don't know why because I haven't heard it,

but I have a feeling that it's vital to my survival.

- Barnabas, I don't care about some lousy message on a tape

recorder.

All I know is we've got to do something about Adam.

We've got to find him, and we've got to get rid of him

permanently, because, Barnabas, we're not going

to be safe until he's dead.

- Vicki. - Hello, Barnabas.

- What an unexpected pleasure. - May I come in?

- Why, yes, certainly.

I'm so happy you've dropped by.

We've seen so little of each other lately.

- Yes, I know, and I'm sorry.

- Well, that can be easily rectified.

Now that Cassandra is gone, I plan to spend a great deal more

time at Collinwood.

- I'm glad to hear that, but I may not

be spending much more time there.

- What do you mean?

- I came here to tell you that I'm going to be married.

- Married?

- Yes.

Barnabas, I wanted you to be the first to know,

because I know how you feel about me.

Your feelings are very important to me.

- Thank you, Vicki.

Do you intend to leave Collinwood?

- I don't know yet.

We haven't made any plans.

- I guess, I don't have to ask who the lucky young man is?

- No.

- If I have one reservation it's that you haven't

known Jeff Clark very long.

- Long enough to know that I've made the right choice.

- Well, I suppose that's what matters most.

If it means anything to you, you have my very best wishes.

- It means a great deal to me, Barnabas.

- You know I want every happiness for you.

Of course, you realize that this will not

change my feelings for you?

Nothing ever will.
