[ominous music]

NARRATOR:In the great house of Collinwood

in the present time,

Barnabus Collins, and Julia Hoffman

have learned that something terrible

has happened to Quentin,

but they don't know what it is,

nor do they know where he is.

But they're aware that his disappearance

may be the prelude to the total disaster

that will soon thr*aten the lives

of everyone at Collinwood.

Barnabas, this is where it is.

Yes.

Then he's still alive.

Yes.

But this portrait is his only way of communicating with us.

He's either been taking prisoner somewhere and

is close to death,

or Gerard has buried him alive.

[eerie music]

Buried alive?

Barnabas, what're we going to do?

[shriek]

It's all happening the way it did before.

Tad, that means we're next.

We're next!

First Gerard k*lled Quentin,

and soon after that, Carrie and I died.

Gerard has forced history to repeat itself.

Children, you must tell me,

if you know where Quentin was originally buried,

you must tell me.

Now do you know?

If Quentin was buried in and where?

If Quentin dies, we'll die too.

This is our only chance.

CARRIE: Then we might as well tell them.

He was buried in an unmarked grave,

near the part of the cemetery that is fenced off.

[whistling wind]

BARNABAS: The fenced-off area is over in that direction.

JULIA: If there is a freshly covered grave,

that'll be it.

Barnabas, Barnabas, over here.

This is freshly covered.

Quentin is buried here, he has to be.

Let's just hope we're in time, Julia.

They shouldn't have left us here alone.

We're not alone, Willy's downstairs.

A lot of good he'll do,

when Gerard finds out that we've told them

where Quentin's grave is.

Gerard!

Oh, Gerard, what're you going to do to us?

He wants us to follow him.

BARNABAS: Let's get it open.

[coughing]

Julia, he's still alive.

[coughing]

Daphne!

Are you all right?

We didn't know why we were to come here.

But if it's to see you.

What're you doing in that dress again?

Daphne, answer me.

We weren't brought here just to see Daphne.

Gerard brought us here for some other reason.

Daphne, what's going to happen to us?

I have new clothes for each of you,

and I want you both to put them on.

Right now?

But why, Daphne?

Gerard, please, don't go through with this.

Gerard, we took life from them once,

don't do it again, you have no right.

Please, Gerard, spare them and take me instead.

Please, Gerard, take only me.

Daphne, what's going to happen to us?

You must put on these new clothes.

Now please, just do as you're told.

It was as though I'd became

the Quentin Collins of ,

and I had the memory.

I had the memory of Gerard,

of Gerard waving a green flag at a window three times.

Which window, I don't know.

But the destruction of Collinwood

came right after that.

You mean the destruction was caused

by waving of the red flag?

Yes, yes, I don't know why or how,

but that is how it happened.

And then, it was like...

As if I had the feeling that

I knew where the play room was,

and it was in exactly the place where you said it was.

Julia, where're the children?

At the old house.

I can guarantee you they're not there now.

Come on.

JULIA: I still don't understand how you knew

they wouldn't be in the old house.

QUENTIN: Let's just hope we find them here.

No, no, if you open the door,

the play room won't be there.

I don't understand.

I don't have time to explain, just watch.

Julia, it's the same as it was in the future.

But where are the children?

We've got to keep looking until we find them.

Yes.

Daphne, now can you tell us what's going to happen?

QUENTIN: Tad and Carrie?

Can you hear me?

TAD: It's Quentin.

He's alive.

QUENTIN: Children, if you can hear us, you must answer.

JULIA: We're here to help you.

We should answer them.

Don't you wanna see Quentin again?

No, no, no, we must be very still.

Why?

Why?

Barnabas, Barnabas, the clothes they're wearing,

they're the new clothes.

Quentin, I'm so glad you're safe.

Look, no one is safe in this house tonight.

Now listen to me, all of you,

I've got to be alone with the children.

Why, Quentin?

I've no time to explain now.

Barnabas, you take Daphne and Julia with you.

You've got to trust me, all of you.

All right, Gerard, I'm here.

All right, Gerard, if you won't come out willingly,

then I'll force you out.

All right, you come over to the window,

right over here.

I want you to stand right here,

and look up at the sky.

We seek the guidance of a star,

a very special star,

a star out in the cold of time and space,

far out beyond us,

a star that is responsible for the guidance,

not of two, but of four children.

For David Collins, and Hallie Stokes

are the ancestral twins, the astral twins,

of Tad and Carrie who stand before me now.

Only by the light of the star

was their possession possible,

and only by the light of the star

can they be restored to theirselves.

Restore them now!

Bring back the rightful bodies

to David Collins and Hallie Stokes.

I can feel it happening.

I can feel it.

Tad, we're going to be as we were.

Perhaps it's better that way.

We'll be so much happier.

We were so happy.

You have lost Gerard.

It is all over now.

Do you understand that?

You have lost.

[tense music]

[thunder]

What is happening?

I failed.

I failed to stop Gerard.

The children are gone.

Where's Daphne?

She got away from us.

The destruction of Collinwood is beginning now.

We've got to find Daphne and the children.

It's our last chance.

Tad, Tad, thank God I found you.

No, Gerard!

No!

Leave us alone, Gerard.

Gerard!

Leave us alone!

No!

[tense music]

Daphne, where are you?

Are you with the children?

David.

[groaning]

Daphne.

Daphne, Daphne, are you all right?

Tad and Carrie...

They're gone.

So are David and Hallie.

I'm so sorry.

I wanted it to be the way it was

when we first met.

Do you remember?

Yes, yes, I remember.

I remember.

Now I know it never can be.

Why did he burn Rose Cottage, Quentin?

Why did he have to destroy Rose Cottage?

It was such a beautiful house.

Daphne?

Daph?

[thunder]

[tense drum music]

[crash]

Quentin, what is it?

Daphne, Daphne and the children,

they're dead.

No, no!

[mumbling]

This house belongs to the dead.

BARNABAS: No, Quentin, wait!

Oh.

Barnabas, Barnabas, the stairway has reappeared!

Julia, go, I'll follow you!

Julia!

The staircase is gone!

[mysterious harp music]

It's Carrie.

She's alive.

But the clothes she's wearing.

She could only have worn them in .

Yes, that's it.

That's why the corridor looks so different.

I'm in the th Century.
