(Loud rapid drumming sound)

(Hal drumming steadily)

Hey, wasn't me.

I'm keeping this rhythm like a dog keeps a bone.



(Loud rapid drumming sound)

Man-oh-man,

I don't think we can practice with... whatever that is.

Oh yes we can! Just play louder!

Whoa-whoa-whoa!

(Squeaking)

Hey, look who I found, it's Señor Screechy Shoe!

Como estas, amigo? Bien?

(In Señor Screechy Shoe voice): Yes. Muy bien, Hal.

(Rapid drumming continuing) What is that noise?

It's ruining our practice!

Only one way to find out, g*ng! Tally-ho!

Aha!

A woodpecker!

Hey, woodpecker?

Dude, I'm sorry, you gotta move it out, man!

(Squeaking)

You saved my house! Thanks, Squeeks!

Ah, it was nothing, big guy.

And now, it's back to band pract--ice.

(Woodpecker tapping)

Oh no! He's back! He's back! He's back!

Man-oh-man, what are we gonna do now?

No worries, my friends.

We just need to scare him away properly!

Tally-hoooooo!

Ah! Hoo-hoo, ha! Fly away!

(Grunting)

Is he gone?

(Tapping)

Uh, well, not so much...

Good try, though, Nature Cat!

We need a plan B, you guys.

Plan B? Hmmm, okay!

How about Plan BE nice?

That's always a good plan! Go for it, Hal!

Hi, Mr. Woodpecker sir, I am Hal!

Say, could you maybe kinda maybe stop making that noise please?

Pretty please?

(Yelling) Pretty please with sugar on top?!!

So, uh... how'd plan "Be nice" go, bud?

Not great.

No, it's almost like he can't stop.

Like he has to do it.

Hmm.

"Like he has do to it..." Curious.

Time for a little scientific observation!

Oh yeah.

Agreed! To the bird observatory!

Tally-ho!

SQUEEKS (Hushed): He taps and he taps....

DAISY: And then he looks at the sky.

HAL: Taps again, and hey, looks up at the sky again!

NATURE CAT: Hmm... Yes, yes.

Almost like he's looking for someone.

Or some thing!

Like maybe a UFO?

An Unidentified Flying Object? Wink wink.

Or another woodpecker. See?

Our woodpecker looks like a yellow-bellied sapsucker.

His red throat means he's a boy.

Females don't have red throats.

And it says here,

he makes loud drumming noises in the spring

to attract a lady friend!

Oh! He's making all that racket for true love!

TOGETHER: For true love!

Oh, but it's not working. Look.

HAL: Poor little woodpecker guy.

Hmm, no one's comin'.

Then what do ya say we help him find his true love.

Quick everyone, make a banging noise! Tally-ho!

(Clanging)

(Thudding)

(Thumping)

NATURE CAT: Ow.

(Bird singing)

(Gasping) Look!

(Bird singing)

Hi, Mrs. Woodpecker, it's me, Hal!

NATURE CAT (Whispering): Uh, Hal, they're having a moment.

HAL (Whispering): Right. Got it.

(Chittering)

DAISY: Aw...

ALL: True love wins!

And I get my house back!

Time to get back to band practice!

HAL: A one. A two. A one, two, three, fo--

(Loud tapping) Ah!

Huh?

True love? What about true love?

DAISY: Well, it certainly looks like they're still in love.

But they're also in love with banging on my house.

And two woodpeckers are twice as noisy!

Argh, what do we do?!

Time for some more scientific observation!

If we could just get close enough to get a better look.

A bird's eye view, perhaps.

Hey guys! How ya like me now?!

Whoa! You certainly look just like a woodpecker!

Thank you, thank you.

Okay! Let's do this! Hoist me up!

Oh yeaahhh!

Oh, hey there, fellow woodpecker who's just like me,

also a woodpecker.

Just pecking away next to each other. What are the odds?

(Whispering): Can you see why she's doing that?

Shh! Nature Cat! I got it!

So, uh... my fellow woodpecker friend, I was, uh,

I was kinda wondering....

Oh you're pecking for food and your food is a beetle.

Course you're pecking for food.

I knew that being a woodpecker myself and all.

Anyway, gotta go! Bye!

Whoa!

You guys, they're pecking for food!

TOGETHER: Ohhh....

Yeah, all sorts of beetles and bugs up there. Yuck.

Ew!

Fun fact!

They also drink the sugary tree sap they find as they drill.

NATURE CAT: Ohh... sapsuckers! Of course.

But that's the problem! (Sighing)

It's too bad we can't just make 'em little food place

away from my house so that we can practice. Meh.

That's it, Hal! You're a genius!

(Smooching)

Okay, hooray for me!

A genius! (Chuckling)

What is it? I still don't know.

Daisy, is it possible to make a special bird feeder

for woodpeckers?

Yup!

It's called a suet feeder.

Follow my lead. Onward and yonward!

Uh... I always wanted to say that.

Ooh. Nicely done, Daisy!

I got the woodpecker food!

Hey you woodpeckers!

Come and 'git it! (Ringing triangle)

(Gasping) They're eating! They love it!

You know what this means, you guys,

we're getting the band back together!

Oh yeah!

ALL: Oh yeah! Oh yeah!

A one, a two, a one two three--

(Tapping) For goodness sakes!

They're baaaaack.

Man-oh-man! You gotta be kidding me!

My poor, poor, poor house!

The Woodpeckers found each other, have plenty of food...

Why are they still pecking on Hal's doghouse?

Oh, they're so high maintenance!

Time for a little...

ALL: Scientific Observation!

Oh yeah!

(Tapping) Ugh, observe quickly, please.

I don't know how long I can stay like this!

Okay, okay.

They're pecking in one spot.

They're starting to bore a hole in Hal's doghouse.

Nooooo!

ALL Whoa, whoa!

SQUEEKS: Guys, I'm up here!

NATURE CAT (Sighing): That was close.

Good observation, Squeeks. Now let's see what it means.

Uh-oh.

What? What is it? Who, what, why, when and where?

Says here woodpeckers also peck to make a shelter,

a place to nest.

Oh, that makes sense.

Now that they're an item, they're setting up a house.

Oh! I wonder where they are registered.

I have to get them something.

Argh! But this is my house!

ALL: Whoa!

(Grunting)

(Tapping)

You have to admit, the newlyweds do need a home.

They sure do,

but I don't think Hal's doghouse would work for them.

What she said!

We can't keeping shooing them away, they always come back!

What are we supposed to do?

How about we make them a better offer?

Um. How bout a one way ticket to Orlando?

No!

We'll make them a birdhouse.

Way on the other side of the yard near their food.

Oh! That's a win-win, baby! They get to stay in the yard...

I get my house back...

And we get to enjoy watching true love flourish!

Looks like it's a win win win!

Oh, sweet!

This says that woodpeckers love living in holes in dead trees.

Like that one!

Ha-ha, yes!

But it needs a little sprucing up for the newlyweds.

Tally-ho!

Oof!

Owie.

How can we get the woodpeckers' attention

so they'll go over there?

The same way they got our attention.

(Hal tapping)

HAL: Look, it worked!

He found a hole, and now he's making it bigger.

(Nature Cat sighing) We did it!

ALL: Hurray!

NATURE CAT: They sure do look happy together.



(Tapping)

No way! Is that-- is that what I think it is!?

No! It can't be.

We haven't heard from them in weeks!

(Tapping)

It is! They're baaaack!

Seems like the woodpeckers want to show us something.

What could they possibly want to show us!?

(Gasping)

NATURE CAT: Baby woodpeckers!

We're so excited for you!

Oh, how cute! (Chuckling)

Your new home is perfect for your new family.

(Sighing)

Adorbs!

(Sniffling)

True love gets me every time!



SQUEEKS: Whoo-hoo!

DAISY: Cannonball!

HAL: What she said!

Nature Cat!

Tally-ho!

♪ Good morrow one and all!

♪ It's time for fall-- ♪

Whoa, whoa-whoa!

Whoa!

You called that right, Nature Cat.

What a fall! (Snickering)

Well, yes, I kind of planned it, but...

Anyway, it's a big day today, my fellow adventurers.

The first day of fall!

Man-oh-man, I just love the fall!

The sights!

(Geese honking) The sounds!

And don't forget the smells!

(Sniffing)

Mmmmm. (Sniffing)

Mmm.

The crisp air with the sweet smell of leaves

with a hint of hay! It's the fall!

If I could just piggyback on all this fall love,

something amazing is going to happen today over in the Canyon!

Amazing? Well, I love amazing! Ask anyone!

What's going down over there man?

Okay, so when the sun is positioned just so around noon,

the sunlight will fall through rock gaps

into a cave to reveal...

The Golden Sun Stone!

SQUEEKS AND HAL: Ooooooh! Sweet!

And it can only be seen on the very first day of fall.

Today!

Whoa! What exactly is this, Nature Cat?

NATURE CAT: It's a calendar carved into stone hundreds--

nay, maybe even thousands of years ago.

People have used it to tell when fall begins!

Which is also the equinox! Oh, fun fact guys.

That's when day time and night time

have the same number of hours.

Oooooh! Whoa!

I know, a must see!

And the last few years, I've set out early

on the first day of fall to the Canyon to see this but...

Got bad directions one year.

Ha-ha!

(Croaking)

Slightly veered off course another year.

Ho-ho!

(Thudding)

And then there was the time I got totally lost.

Hee-hee!

(Truck horn honking, screaming)

I'm not gonna miss it this year!

It's still early enough to get there before noon!

Come on! This way, onward and yonward!

Or wait, maybe it's this way!

Heh-heh. No. Scratch that.

I think it's this way!

Yeah, I can see why he got lost!

I think I'm lost.

Hey. I hear you. I get lost in my closet.

(Chuckling)

Which direction again?

Nature Cat, how are we supposed to get to the Sunstone?

Easy! You just head north.

Or north... Uh, I mean, north.

Ugh! I can see why I get lost.

Well this is what you need!

Oh, a circle!

It's a compass, Hal!

A compass!

Oh yeah!

We used it to follow Bad Dog Bart's treasure map!

Yep!

Remember, the way the compass works

is I hold it very flat on my hand and move myself

until the "N" on the compass lines up with the needle.

So according to the compass, this way is north.

North is the way we need to go!

Okie-dokie!

And just in case, the compass shows the other directions:

east, south and west!

Guys! Guys! Guys!

I know how to remember directions:

Never Eat Soggy Worms.

Soggy worms? Blech!

Yeah, yeah. It helps me remember the order of directions.

Never starts with N for north. Eat starts with E for east.

HAL: Oh, oh, oh! I get it!

Soggy starts with an S for South.

And worms starts with a W for West!

HAL, SQUEEKS: Never eat soggy worms!

S-- soggy worms. Ugh.

Oh this map can help too.

"Head North, in the direction the compass needle points,

through Sunset Park, the Forest,

the Prairie, and then to the Canyon.

It's easy as cheesy pie!

Sure is!

Between my nature survival skills,

and the compass' directional ability,

we'll be at the Sun Stone in no time.

Onward and northward! Yeah.

Halt!

Hey guys, why are we stopping?

This is where I think I got really lost the past few years.

So, we need to proceed with caution!

Copy that! Now let's move on out!

The most important thing to do

is keep following our trusty compass northward!

Yeah, yeah, compass, compass. Now, can we go.

NATURE CAT: The compass.

This remarkable navigational tool has led explorers

to new worlds, guided pirates to buried treasure,

directed nature adventurers to wild destinations.

Wow! No way!

And this same tool will lead us to a beautiful sight!

Hear, hear for the compass!

Onward and northward!

(Smashing)

Whoops. Slipped. Heh-heh. Ugh...

Well! There goes the compass!

(Dramatically): We're doomed!

Ha-ha! See! No worries, g*ng. Good as new!

(Smashing) Huh.

It's okay, guys. Don't panic.

I have a directional app.

Ohh. No signal!?

Maybe we should panic, now?

I don't know, just a suggestion!

Oh no, we're gonna run out of time!

I'm going to miss the Golden Sun Stone again!

DAISY: That's it! Oh! The sun!

The sun always rises in the East.

Always? Wait, really?

Yup! Always!

But what good is that, Daisy?

We need to go North, not East!

Hey! Remember this? Oh, it's so cool!

Since this way is east,

we can figure out the other directions.

Okay, the opposite of east is what?

Sou... nuh... west?

DAISY: Yup! West!

Yeah, oh!

And-- And now remember? Never Eat Soggy Worms!

Yuck!

Eat soggy worms. So soggy, south is here!

So guys, that means north is here, opposite of south.

So, if I wanted to head North...

You point to the sun out from your right side.

And my nose points north like the compass needle!

We're back in business!

Onward and northward!

We're gonna make it!

Golden Sun Stone here we come!

Nothing can stop us now.

SQUEEKS, HAL, DAISY: Nature Cat, watch out!

NATURE CAT: Whoa!

Ahhh!

Ah!

Ohh! Nature Cat!

Hmm, nuts!

Such a wonderful treat to gather for faaaaaa--

SQUEEKS: Hal!

DAISY: Squeeks!

ALL: Whoa!

NATURE CAT: Whee!

(Grunting)

I-- fun-- down-- had there.

Now that's an adventure. Whoa, momma!

Again! Again! Again! Again! Ha-ha-ha!

Hey guys, look at the sun!

The higher it gets in the sky, the closer we are to noon!

Oh no! We're really running out of time!

What he said!

Right arm east. Follow my nose north!

Onward and noseward!

We're getting there, team!

Golden Sun Stone, here we come!

SQUEEKS: Go, go, go, go! Go, go, go!



Uh, where's the sun?

Hey, where did the sun go?

Where did it go? Where did it go?

Oh! Now which way is north?

Oh no!

Without the sun, we don't have help with our directions.

This is a flawed system!

Aw. What do we do now, guys?

We're gonna miss the Golden Sun Stone!

Whyyyyy?

Hey, Nature Cat, it's okay. There's always next year.

Gosh, it would've been so amazing

to see the Golden Sun Stone.

I'm sorry, Nature Cat.

NATURE CAT: Wait!

Stop! We can't quit, guys!

We will see the Golden Sun Stone today!

It's our fate!

It's our destiny!

SQUEEKS, DAISY: Uh, Nature Cat...

Yes, Nature can be unpredictable!

Ju-- Uh, hold one sec, Nature Cat.

And you never know when the rain will fall,

when wind will blow, or when the sun will shine!

So, we'll will keep trying and trying...

DAISY, SQUEEKS, HAL: Yippee!

We're back, baby!

Pointing right hand east! Heading north!

Tally-ho!

The Canyon!

We made it!

This way, team! Look sharp!

Huh. This is the spot!

The Golden Sun Stone should be here!

But nothing's happening! Did we miss it? Did we miss it?

Did we-- uh-- whahadawah-- Did we miss it?

But it's not noon yet?

I hereby proclaim:

It is now officially fall!

Picture time!

ALL: Fall!

(Camera clicking)
