Welcome to Plum Landing.
"Habitat, Sweet Habitat."
We're on a mission for Plum.
We are making creature cards, writing about that creature,
drawing a pictureof that creature.
Plum and the kids learned about animals
in their habitats on Mount X,
and we're going to find habitats for the creatures we made up.
A habitat provides food, water, shelter and space,
and we are in our habitat: our house.
Harry, Cornell and I are making our own creature cards.
You make up your own animal.
I love your snickelywicker.

And it likes to hang outunder bushes
and digs a hole for a nest, likes to chomp on berries
So it's purple and green?
And blue.
I'm calling my creature "bighting snog."
My creature is good at climbing, likes to eat leaves and twigs,
has extra large eyes which help it see in the dark.
My creature is calledshadow bird.
No, not shadow bird-- shadow lizard.
It lives underground,
it eats roots and bugsand other insects,
has long claws for diggingin the ground.
Right now, I'm trying to find the habitat for my creature.

There's lots of plantsand shrubs here,
so I know there'sa lot of roots.
This tree has probablylots of roots
that probably spread outunder the house,
so that would be goodfor my creature.
I named my habitat after myself.
This is Beautiful Harry, my creature's habitat.
I'm looking for grass, fresh grass, a hole
and somewhere where there's berries.
This would be a good place for my creature.
There's already a hole there.
I think there are berry bushesdown back there,
so there's not that much of a trip for the animals to go.
I found another hole.
It can have two homes, but that one could be
like the summer home and that one could be the winter.
The hole is also good for protection from predators.
It likes to live in trees.
That one right there would be a perfect tree.
Likes to eat leaves and twigs.
I found some leaves and twigs.
I think everything my creature needs is in this habitat.
I'm going to call this habitat "flowers and vine"
because in the spring, I'm hoping they will grow here.
Once you find a habitat, you can give your habitat a name too.
