ASH: And the weather's perfect! Huh?

- BROCK: Was that lightning? - ASH: Not with this blue sky.

ELECTRIKE: [FOCUSED] BROCK: An Electrike!

DAWN: And it's fast!

POKEDEX: Electrike. The Lightning Pokémon.

Using the electric charge stored in its fur,

it can run faster than the eye can follow.

electric moves, and as you can see, we need practice.

ASH: Hey, it's okay! Hi, my name's Ash!

PIKACHU: [GREETING] DAWN: And I'm Dawn!

BROCK: And my name's Brock!

JACO: I'm Jaco. Believe it or not, I'm a Pokémon breeder.

BROCK, DAWN, ASH: Yeah?

ASH: Hey, Brock's a breeder, too!

BROCK: Well, I'm still in training.

JACO: Yeah? Wow, that's neat!

Hmm. This Staravia's great! You've really raised it well.

JACO: I just love Flying-type Pokémon!

Compared to Electric types.

JACO: Let's just say they're more of a challenge...

ELECTRIKE: [DEJECTED]

CAL: Jaco?

CAL: Say, who are these children?

JACO: Hi, sir! This is Ash and all of his friends.

- BROCK, DAWN, ASH: Hello, sir! - CAL: Hello! My name's Cal,

and I'm the head of the Pokémon Training Center.

BROCK, DAWN, ASH: Pokémon Training Center?

CAL: Yes.

CAL: Specializing in Electric-type Pokémon! See?

CAL: That's part of the Pokémon Training Center complex!

ASH: Bet there's lots of Electric-type Pokémon!

CAL: So Jaco, how are things going with Electrike?

- JACO: The truth? - CAL: Right.

CAL: But this one has so much potential.

CAL: And it's your job to bring that potential out!

I know you can do it, my boy.

JACO: Thank you, sir.

CAL: Now, how would you young people like a

little tourof our Pokémon Training Center?

BROCK, DAWN, ASH: Yeah!

DAWN: You mean it?

CAL: Long as you don't mind things being a bit quiet.

ASH: Whoa. So where are the Electric types?

DAWN: I don't see anybody.

CAL: I told you so. All the others have

finished with their training and graduated.

CAL: Of course, this Electrike will do the same

and then move on to the Power Generating Room.

DAWN: What goes on in there?

BROCK: First you train them to use their lightning

abilities, then they help you generate electricity, correct?

CAL: That's right. But in order to do that, they must have

complete control over all their Electric-type moves,

which is why they train here first.

ASH: Good idea.

CAL: So now we'll show you the results of their training.

CAL: Watch closely, please!

CAL: Electrike! Use Charge!

ELECTRIKE [C]: [CHARGE MOVE]

BROCK: First, Electrike's using Charge

to power up its Electric-type moves!

CAL: Thunder, now! ELECTRIKE [C]: [THUNDER MOVE]

CAL: Move it to the left!! ELECTRIKE [C]: [EFFORT]

ASH, PIKACHU, BROCK, DAWN: [AWED]

ASH: It turned!

CAL: Now upward!

ELECTRIKE [C]: [AFFIRMATIVE]

CAL: Now a quick descent, then hit the target!

ELECTRIKE [C]: [EFFORT]

BROCK, ASH, PIKACHU, DAWN: [AWED]

CAL: Well done, Electrike! ELECTRIKE [C]: [PLEASED]

ASH: Awesome!

BROCK: That kind of control is totally amazing!

ELECTRIKE: [JEALOUS]

CAL: Well, it certainly does make it much easier

to safely perform their work.

CAL: And you've got your work cut out for you!

JACO: Right!

CAL: And you may stay here for as long as you like!

ASH, BROCK, DAWN: Thank you so much!

CAL: Let's go, Electrike!

ELECTRIKE [C]: [AFFIRMATIVE]

DAWN: So you'll teach the same thing to this Electrike as well?

JACO: No! DAWN, ELECTRIKE: [SURPRISED]

JACO: If you ask me, this Electrike is doomed to fail.

JACO: Look, it lost control during the last training session

and caused you guys all sorts of trouble.

JACO: I know the boss tells me it'll all work out, but I'm the

one specializing in Flying-type Pokémon breeding, right?

DAWN: Well, that's what you said.

JACO: Right!

But even so, I'm now in a place

that specializes in Electric-type Pokémon.

JACO: The worst!

BROCK: May I take a closer look at your Electrike?

JACO: Sure

ELECTRIKE: [CURIOUS]

ELECTRIKE: [UNCERTAIN]

JACO: Now see what I mean?

BROCK: Nope!

It's just like what your boss says. I think it'll be fine!

JACO: You do?

BROCK: Hey, all you can do is your best.

I'd like to help, too!

BROCK: That is, if we could stay here for a bit.

ASH: No problem, Brock!

DAWN: I figured you'd offer to help out!

BROCK: Thanks, you guys! What do you say, Electrike?

ELECTRIKE: [EXCITED]

JACO: Well, I'll give it my best sh*t, and with

your help, who knows what we can accomplish?

JESSIE: Ooh! A Training Center Pokémon

should make for an excellent recruit!

JESSIE: Especially when that recruit gets ripped off!

MEOWTH: But that Electrike's got issues!

JESSIE: Not for long!

Leave it to the Twerps to smooth out the rough spots.

JAMES: But that could take eons.

JESSIE: All bad things come to those who wait.

JAMES, MEOWTH: Like us for you?

WOBBUFFET: [AFFIRMATIVE]

BROCK: Electrike stores up electricity in its fur,

so it's good to brush that fur all the time!

JACO: Just like this!

ASH: Major jolt!

JACO: What was that?

DAWN: Must be the brush!

JACO: What do you mean?

BROCK: Use a brush that's not made out of metal!

Metal brushes conduct electricity, you see.

JACO: Right

BROCK: First thing you want to do is relax Electrikelike this!

ELECTRIKE: [PURRING]

BROCK: Then you have to trust Electrike,

and doing that will teach it to trust you right back.

BROCK: It's really just the same as raising Flying-type Pokémon.

JACO: I guess you're right!

The problem with Electrike is I haven't really had any faith.

ASH: Man, you talk like Professor Oak, Brock!

DAWN: Ash is right.

ELECTRIKE: [SLEEPING]

ASH: Electrike's gonna be fine.

JACO: All right, Electrike, ready for some training?

ELECTRIKE: [AFFIRMATIVE] JACO: Let's start with Charge!

ELECTRIKE: [CHARGE MOVE]

JACO: Now Thunderbolt!

ELECTRIKE: [THUNDERBOLT MOVE]

PIKACHU: [SHOCKED]

- DAWN: Ash! - JACO: Electrike! Stop!

ELECTRIKE: [CONFUSED]

PIKACHU: [CONCERNED]

DAWN: You okay?

ASH: What's with me and Thunderbolts?

ELECTRIKE: [ASHAMED]

JACO: What went wrong now?

BROCK: The problem was in the timing!

JACO: What do you mean by that?

BROCK: Hey, Ash and Dawn, what do you say we show him?

ASH: Sure! PIKACHU: [EXCITED]

DAWN: This ought to be fun!

PIKACHU: [DETERMINED] PACHIRISU: [DETERMINED]

ASH: Store up your electricity!

DAWN: Both of you!

PIKACHU, PACHIRISU: [FOCUSED]

ASH: Pikachu! Thunderbolt!

PIKACHU: [THUNDERBOLT MOVE]

ASH: Bull's-eye! PIKACHU: [TRIUMPHANT]

JACO: Wow, great sh*t!

ELECTRIKE: [IMPRESSED]

DAWN: Pachirisu, ready to go?

PACHIRISU: [DISCHARGE MOVE]

ASH, PIKACHU: [ALARMED]

ASH: Somebody's out to get me!

DAWN: No, Pachirisu! Stop! PACHIRISU: [CONFUSED]

DAWN: Let's try it again! Here's a Poffin!

PACHIRISU: [HAPPY]

JACO: Poffin?

BROCK: They're Pachirisu's favorite thing to eat!

Things should go much better this time around.

DAWN: Now store it up, one more time!

PACHIRISU: [FOCUSED]

DAWN: All right, let's go!

PACHIRISU: [DISCHARGE MOVE]

DAWN: Perfect! PACHIRISU: [JOYFUL]

JACO: Wow! Right in the middle! ELECTRIKE: [IMPRESSED]

BROCK: The best timing for storing

and f*ring electricity depends on each Pokémon.

JACO: That makes sense to me.

BROCK: And Electrike's not doomed to fail.

I'm sure of that!

JACO, ELECTRIKE: [CURIOUS]

BROCK: In fact, I'd say Electrike has

more power than a normal Electrike does!

JACO: Huh, really? More power than normal?

ELECTRIKE: [SURPRISED]

ASH: You really think so?

DAWN: You know, maybe it had trouble because of excess power!

BROCK: Right!

JACO: So that means all I have to do is figure out

what Electrike's perfect timing is, and we're all set!

BROCK: That's all you need.

JACO: Yeah, that's great!

JACO: Okay, Electrike, let's get back to training!

ELECTRIKE: [EXCITED]

JAMES: Look! That didn't take long.

MEOWTH: Hey, waiting's easy!

JESSIE: Oh yeah? Whoever said that's an idiot!

MEOWTH: But bad things come to those who wait.

JESSIE: Well, you two just wait, because very soon,

all sorts of bad things are coming to you!

JACO: Wow, you're still up?

BROCK: Oh, I'm just whipping up a little

bit of foodfor Pikachu, that's all!

JACO: A little? Brock, you made all of this?

BROCK: Different food for different Pokémon.

And we've got lots!

JACO: But even so...

BROCK: It takes lots of time

and care if you want to raise Pokémon that are strong.

BROCK: And of course, that's our main job as breeders!

PIKACHU: [THUNDERBOLT MOVE]

PIKACHU: [ENCOURAGING] ELECTRIKE: [UNCERTAIN]

PIKACHU: [EXPLAINING] ELECTRIKE: [AFFIRMATIVE]

JAMES: They're at it /!

MEOWTH: They're getting strong while we're getting wiped!

JAMES: You know what? They sure know how to act like a team.

MEOWTH: They sure do!

Kind of puts a lump in my Pokémonic throat.

JAMES: Yeah! My throat, too!

MEOWTH: That's the way a real team should be!

JESSIE: Touching.

JESSIE: Though I think you're touched in the head.

JAMES: You would think that!

MEOWTH: We could learn a thing or two from them!

JESSIE: Don't fall for that gobbledygook!

JAMES: Oh, now I understand!

MEOWTH: You don't help friends out like that, so no one can.

JESSIE: Cut the psychology!

JESSIE: I want Electrike right now!

JAMES: Aren't you being hasty?

MEOWTH: They're not done yet!

JESSIE: I don't like anything overdone!

PIKACHU, ELECTRIKE: [SURPRISED] PIKACHU, ELECTRIKE: [ALARMED]

JESSIE: Time's up!

PIKACHU, ELECTRIKE: [WORRIED]

PIKACHU, ELECTRIKE: [SCARED]

JACO: What could've happened here?

- ASH: Pikachu! - JACO: Electrike!

JESSIE: Perfect! Just ripe for the Poké-picking!

Picked at the peak of power! Good, aren't I?

ASH: Team Rocket!

BROCK: You can't take them!

JESSIE: Listen! Is that the voice of Twerply gloom?

JAMES: Join our pity party. There's plenty of room.

JESSIE: On the wind!

JAMES: The stars

MEOWTH: We're doomed.

JESSIE: Bringing chaos at a breakneck pace!

JAMES: She's dashed all my hope. What a bummer.

JESSIE: A rose by any other name's just as sweet!

JAMES: When everything's worse, then of course, it's much worse.

- JESSIE: Jessie! - JAMES: James the pain.

MEOWTH: I can't say my name.

JESSIE: Putting all you do-gooders in your place!

JAMES: Team Rocket, sad to say.

JESSIE: We're in your face!

JAMES, MEOWTH: Ouch WOBBUFFET: [AFFIRMATIVE]

MIME JR: [MIMICKING]

JACO: Who's Team Rocket?

DAWN: The bad guys, who love to cause us trouble!

JESSIE: And it's time to cause you more!

JESSIE: What's with you?

JAMES: You can't rob those two mid-quest!

MEOWTH: When it comes to teamwork, that team is the best!

ASH, DAWN, BROCK, PIKACHU, JACO, ELECTRIKE: [CONFUSED]

JACO: Hold on. You sure they're all the bad guys?

JESSIE: Now you hold on, smart mouth.

JAMES: No, you!

JAMES: I will not allow you to defame that

devoted duo and destroy their destiny!

MEOWTH: Yeah! If you want to mess up

somebody's life,then do it to yourself!

JESSIE: What? To myself?

JESSIE: That's it!

JESSIE: You won't have Jessie to kick around anymore!

JACO, DAWN, BROCK, ASH: Whoa

- JAMES: Pikachu! - MEOWTH: Electrike!

JAMES: Your hard work is dedication inspiration!

MEOWTH: You guys rock!

So won't you please let us be your training buddies?

ELECTRIKE, PIKACHU: [UNCERTAIN]

JACO: Hey, that's great! Thank you both!

DAWN: Hard to believe at first he didn't know

anything about Electric-type Pokémon.

JAMES: It's like Jaco and the Pokémon are growing up together!

MEOWTH: Gets you right here.

JACO: Now one more time! Electrike, use Charge!

ELECTRIKE: [CHARGE MOVE]

JACO: All right then, Thunderbolt!

ELECTRIKE: [THUNDERBOLT MOVE]

ASH, BROCK, DAWN, MEOWTH, JAMES, PIKACHU: [EXCITED]

JACO: Electrike, that was wonderful!

POKEDEX: It is constantly discharging the electricity

it collects in its mane.

JESSIE: Now that you're so big,

how am I supposed to hold you in my lap and pet you?

JESSIE: Change of plans. Target left!

PIKACHU: [SCARED]

JESSIE: You're still small enough!

ASH: Pikachu! PIKACHU: [SCARED]

BROCK: No, not again!

JESSIE: We've got the Pika-goods, so hop on board!

JAMES: I realize catching Pikachu

is the culmination of years of work.

MEOWTH: But we've also got to consider the friendships

we've created with all these Twerps.

JAMES: No contest!

- JAMES: Ready, Meowth? - MEOWTH: Watch your hair!

- ASH: What's that? - JACO: The insulation!

JAMES: Right here!

MEOWTH: Target this and fire big time!

JESSIE: What?

JACO: All right, Manectric, use Charge!

MANECTRIC: [CHARGE MOVE]

JACO: Now use Thunder!

MANECTRIC: [THUNDER MOVE]

JESSIE: Too little too late!

JACO: Right!

MANECTRIC: [EFFORT]

JESSIE: Where did you get that aim?

JACO: Now to the left! MANECTRIC: [EFFORT]

ASH: Manectric's got awesome control!

JAMES: That's it!

MEOWTH: Now, straight for the breadbasket!

- JESSIE: Time for plan B! - MEOWTH: It flies?

JESSIE: Ha! I stole your thunder!

DAWN: They're up too far.

JACO: No way. I believe in Manectric!

Raise your Thunder high!

MANECTRIC: [THUNDER MOVE]

PIKACHU: [IMPRESSED] JESSIE: Pika...

MEOWTH: They did it!

JAMES: Yeah.

JESSIE: You and your soft-heartedness!

JAMES: I'm actually looking forward to this.

MEOWTH: Do-the-right-thing bliss!

JESSIE: We're blasting off again!

ASH: Hey, Jaco, Manectric's control was unbelievable!

JACO: Thanks! We'll need that on the test!

CAL: The test is over. JACO: [SURPRISED]

CAL: I've seen all I need to! Manectric graduates with honors!

JACO: Really? Manectric, you're in!

MANECTRIC: [HAPPY]

DAWN: I think you both are in!

ASH, BROCK: Well, you two sure earned it!

PIKACHU: [HAPPY]

JACO: We did! Thank you!

MANECTRIC: [CONFIDENT]

CAL: Let's go, Manectric!

We'll really be able to use all the help you

can give over at the Power Generating Room.

MANECTRIC: [PLEASED]

JACO: Manectric

JACO: I'll miss you. MANECTRIC: [AGREEMENT]

DAWN: After all the hard work they did together,

it's too bad they have to say goodbye.

BROCK: That's part of the job.

BROCK: Great breeders prepare their Pokémon

for living life to the fullest, like Jaco!

BROCK: So Hearthome City awaits.

ASH: [AGREEMENT]

NARRATOR: A lesson in trust can go a long wayto

deepen relationships between people and Pokémon.

NARRATOR: And with that lesson fresh in their minds and hearts,

our heroes bid farewell to a Pokémon breeder who just

happened to be at the right place

and time to learn that lesson!
