NARRATOR: As our hungry heroes make their way toward Lilypad

Town and Dawn's next Pokémon Contest, a quaint village ahead

now beckons them to do a little exploring.

DAWN: It's a Marill, wow!

BROCK: And it looks like it's stuck, too!

LYRA: Hey, there you are!

MARILL: [SURPRISED]

LYRA: Now, how did you manage to get here?

DAWN: Does this Marill belong to you?

LYRA: It sure does. But it just disappeared!

LYRA: So! Lyra's the name, hi! I'm a Trainer!

DAWN: My name's Dawn! I'd like you to meet my partner, Piplup!

PIPLUP: [PROUD]

ASH: Hi, I'm Ash! And this is Pikachu!

PIKACHU: [FRIENDLY]

BROCK: I'm Brock, and I'm a Pokémon Breeder!

LYRA: Well, it's very nice to meet you all! You're a Piplup,

huh. Let's see

POKEDEX [MALE]: Piplup. The Penguin Pokémon. Although not

the most surefooted, it is proud nonetheless, getting right back

up after a fall with head held high.

DAWN: Awesome! Is that a Pokédex?

LYRA: Yeah, straight from the Johto region,

and it's brand new!

ASH: Whoa, are you from Johto?

LYRA: Yeah, have you heard of it? Hey, that reminds me, I've

got something cool to show you!

DAWN: Cool? Show us what?

LYRA: Back there!

The Johto Festival's going on now as we speak!

ASH: Johto Festival?

LYRA: Yup! You'll see soon. So! Ready to go, Dane?

DAWN: Dane? Okay!

KHOURY: It's Khoury, of course. Where did you go now?

LYRA: I'll be back soon! This is the Johto Festival!

LYRA: We've been traveling with it on the road everywhere to

help promote the Johto region!

LYRA: Welcome everybody!

DAWN: Look at that!

ASH: It's you, Lyra!

LYRA: Great to have you at the Johto Festival!

BROCK: So I guess that means you're on staff!

LYRA: Hope so! Well at least that's what they told me the

last time I checked.

LYRA: When you hear the name Johto, most people think of the

legendary Ecruteak City!

LYRA, : After you've spent a little time learning about the

legend of the Burned Tower where people and Pokémon bonded in

ancient times, then how about having a Pokémon Battle with one

of these lovely Kimono Girls?

ASH: Wow, Johto! Great memories!

PIKACHU: [PLEASED]

BROCK: More than great!

LYRA: But if you just want a place to have fun, then

Goldrenrod City is the place for you!

LYRA: Now don't forget Olivine City, which is famous for

Ampharos the Light Pokémon! And there's Blackthorn City, where

you can actually Battle Dragon-type Pokémon over at its

magnificent Gym!

habit of using its highly developed jaws to chomp on

anything in sight, so Trainers beware.

DAWN: Seems a bit distant.

KHOURY: That's Totodile. It's always acting like that!

KHOURY: What's worse, it won't eat any of the Pokémon food I

make for it.

BROCK: I think it may be a tad too sweet.

BROCK: You have any Chesto Berries?

KHOURY: Uh, well, yeah but

BROCK: Here you go!

TOTODILE: [SNIFFING] / [EXCITED]

LYRA: Now don't forget I brought them here! So! Pretty neat, huh?

BROCK: I want to be the greatest Pokémon Breeder in the world!

KHOURY: Wow, that's an awesome goal!

BROCK: Thanks! I'll give you some recipes if you like.

DAWN, PIPLUP, PIKACHU: [SURPRISED]

for the entire festival! And I guess you could call Khoury a

Pokémon Breeder if you stretched it!

KHOURY: Whoa you guess? Hey, that's cruel!

ASH: So Lyra, didn't you say you're a Trainer?

LYRA: Yup! I'm visiting all the Johto Gyms! What about you, Ash?

ASH: We're working to get into the Sinnoh League and win it!

We've already gotten seven badges to show for it, too!

LYRA: Wow! I've only won two so far. Look! The Zephyr Badge from

the Violet Gym and also the Hive Badge from the Azalea Gym! Dane,

DAWN: I'm a coordinator, see and my next Contest is the one

they're having in Lilypad Town!

LYRA: Awesome! Actually since I specialize in battling, you're

the first coordinator friend I've made so far!

KHOURY: I think it's trying to let you know the

LYRA: All of which are pretty rare in Sinnoh, as I'm sure

you're all well aware!

LYRA: All right then Chikorita. You're up! Go!

DAWN: Wow it's a Chikorita!

DAWN'S POKEDEX: Chikorita. The Leaf Pokémon. Chikorita uses the

leaf on its head to scan for warmth and humidity in its

surroundings, and loves to sunbathe.

LYRA: Hey, you with the Piplup over there!

DAWN: Who, me?

PIPLUP: [SURPRISED]

LYRA: I was wondering how you two would feel about having a

battle with this Chikorita! Come up! Now don't be shy!

DAWN, PIPLUP: [WORRIED]

TOTODILE: [EXCITED]

ASH: That sounds like fun, Dawn! Go on, do it!

LYRA: And if you win, I've got a fabulous prize to commemorate

the occasion for you!

starting Pokémon from Johto and Sinnoh.

BROCK: Chikorita's got the advantage being a Grass type.

KHOURY'S FATHER: It's the battle between

Piplup and Chikorita Begin!

LYRA: Now Chikorita Razor Leaf!

CHIKORITA: [RAZOR LEAF MOVE]

PIPLUP: [PAINED]

DAWN: Piplup, Bubble Beam, now!

PIPLUP: [DETERMINED]

LYRA: Quick, Light Screen, go!

KHOURY: Peck is a Flying-type attack so it's super effective

against a Grass-type Pokémon like Chikorita!

DAWN: Okay Bubble Beam once more!

LYRA: Now, Light Screen quick!

CHIKORITA: [LIGHT SCREEN MOVE]

DAWN: Use Peck to break through!

ASH: Perfect!

KHOURY'S FATHER: Chikorita is unable to battle and the victory

goes to Piplup! Which makes Dawn our big winner!

DAWN: We did it!

BROCK: That Light Screen might have held up against Bubble

Beam, but it was no match against Piplup's Peck.

KHOURY: Looks like Dawn's strategy worked! I'm impressed!

LYRA: I guess my judgment was a little off Chikorita, and I'm

really sorry! But you still did a great job!

DAWN: Piplup, nice work!

PIPLUP: [PROUD]

LYRA: Congratulations, Dane!

DAWN: Thanks, Lyra! Your Chikorita battled hard!

LYRA: Thank you! Here!

LYRA: And the prize goes to our big winner, Dane!

LYRA: Go ahead, Dane, open it!

DAWN: Okay.

LYRA: And as you can see, Dane's prize is a fabulous Pokémon Egg!

DAWN: Awesome! An Egg!

LYRA: Of course the question now is just what kind of Pokémon is

inside that Egg! You'll have to wait and see!

LYRA: Who in the world are they?

ASH: Team Rocket!

KHOURY: Hey, that food's for the festival!

JESSIE : Whoa! Twerpland!

KHOURY'S FATHER: Give back that food back right now!

JESSIE: So sorry sap, but you're a dollar short and a day late!

JAMES: Though I'll say the vittles taste great!

JESSIE: On the wind!

JAMES: Past the stars!

MEOWTH: Groovy grub, there mate!

JESSIE: Filling our tummies at a breakneck pace!

MEOWTH: Wrong! If it's from Johto, it's gotta be an Entei!

MEOWTH: Well, we'll know when it pops.

Town I'd really like to go!

KHOURY: Dad, I want something, too!

KHOURY'S FATHER: What's that?

KHOURY: I'd really like to spend

some time traveling around with Brock!

KHOURY: I want to learn more about being a Pokémon Breeder,

and you can teach me!

KHOURY'S FATHER: I see. Well, would you all like to take these

two along with you for a little while?

ASH: Sure! That'd be fine!

LYRA, KHOURY: All right!

DAWN: Lyra, that's great!

LYRA: It sure is, Dane! And now I'll get to see a real contest!
