the story of melvin the moose

[Music]

in a forest by a lake that was shallow

and weedy

lived a moose called melvin who was

terribly greedy

now melvin was big and enormous sized

moose

he had skin that was wrinkled some would

say it was loose

but unlike most moose who ate bark and

lake weed

melvin was fussy when it came to his

feed

his problem with eating had started at

school

when other animals food had made melvin

drool the ducks would eat grass seed

the squirrels acorns while the donkey

would eat spiny thistles and thorns

our moose smacked his lips as he gazed

at their feast

and when no one was looking scoff the

luck

the big beast

[Music]

for melvin the moose just never would

eat aspen and spruce like a growing

moose should

for the food of his friends always

looked more appealing

so that's what he ate but his friends

called it stealing

and his mouth is so big cried the ducks

when he bends he

eats our grass in a moose feeding frenzy

the animals gathered and had a big

meeting

to discuss poor young melvin's

uncontrollable

eating it seems very clear

said a thin owl looking glum that he

needs to stop

putting our food in his thumb he's out

of control

this problem won't end until the right

food is enjoyed by our friend

perhaps we could make up a list for the

moose

we'll write out the things he should eat

said the goose

you should eat just these things said

the group

we insist melvin said thank you

and then ate the list

[Music]

his friends retired to think again

then the answer came to penny the hen

as it's other's food that melvin devours

then let's pretend his food is ours

so they cut down some aspen some pine

and some spruce

and enough willow and birch to feed any

moose

melvin was called to join them for

dinner they all

held their breath would their plan be a

winner

drew to his fault the moose took the

bait

he left his own food but cleared each

friend's plate

our

he licked the plates clean well all but

his own

then melvin sat back with a long happy

groan

why i'm no longer hungry i couldn't eat

if i tried

for the first time in my life i'm most

satisfied

it's because said the owl it's the right

kind of diet

we knew you'd like moose food you just

had to try it

they explained what they'd done melvin

wasn't offended

for at last he had eaten what mother

nature

intended for what's good for the gander

the duck or the goose may not be

nutritious

for a wrinkly moose

now melvin eats lots and from his own

plate

so all is now well and the owl put on
