[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
uh
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
welcome to the world of amazing animal
[Music]
partners
it's so cowboy what's for supper
same as usual cow polk
means again that's all we ever eat
that's
how the west was won
are you talking to yourself henry i have
to
there's nobody else to talk to out here
maybe you need a partner
it's like they say in that old country
song
a cowboy needs a partner like a spotter
needs a fly
but i ain't got nobody i'm so lonesome i
could cry
[Music]
now i know why you don't have a partner
did you hear that i think we're being
watched
maybe it's a bandito what's a bandito
kind of like an enchilada but no cheese
all right you
vermint i'm coming to get you
henry your bandits out here
well i'll be hey get out of there
wait a minute you're a cowboy henry and
you said you needed a partner
he is perfect oh i don't know
hey don't look a gift horse in the mouth
okay howdy horse
ah you know this could be the start of a
beautiful partnership
we both love beans after all oh there's
a lot more to animal partnerships than
beans henry
especially when the partnership benefits
both sides
now that's one way to pick your partners
some partners have their squabbles
[Music]
others are great at sharing maybe they
split the bill
you don't have to be a beauty to get a
partner you can
say that again
[Music]
but what about sparring partners they're
always there in a pinch
here's a partnership of little and large
talk about getting your ticks this
little fish feeds on the big ones scale
slime
how nice for both of them and finally
the decorator crab
which has a special partnership with the
sea anemone
looks like the anemone is an enemy to me
not at all here the anemone gets to
hitch a ride and troll for food
while the decorator crab gets decorated
candy disguise
way to go partner
[Music]
[Applause]
you know partner you're lucky winding up
with a real cowboy like me
i can spit
i like cows and i've got a yahoo hat
why a yahoo hat because when you're a
cowboy
you always go yeah
uh-oh looks like
one prickly customer
hey look at this it says wanted real
rootin tootin deputies needed to clean
up this town
byoh what's byoh
uh maybe bring your own horse well i'll
be
that's the job for me and my partner
now stand still a law lizard needs his
hat
almost
[Music]
it takes more than a minute to forge a
good partnership henry
some animals work at it their whole
lives you'll just have to
hang in there very funny
take a look at the albatross birds that
are completely monogamous their whole
lives oh i don't think they're that
boring no not monotonous
monogamous means that they have just one
partner like
batman and robin more like superman and
lois lane
albatrosses form the animal equivalent
of a married mom and dad
but they only see each other once every
two years when they come together to
breed
they must have a lot of catching up to
do
not exactly each albatross pair must
find each other in the midst of a
crowded breeding ground
with up to 20 000 birds all over the
same island
this can take time
[Music]
that's their courtship dance in which
they re-establish their commitment to
one another kind of like humans making
vows to each other at their weddings
it's so romantic the female lays just
one egg
once their chick is hatched and it's big
enough to look after itself
the parents will separate they won't see
each other for another two years
maybe that's the secret of a happy
marriage
in a large given marriage the partners
spend their whole lives together
both the mother here and the father with
a darker fur protect their home from
intruders
like this guy is he a gibbon too yes
[Music]
he has his eye on mama gibbon so daddy
gibbons singing to chase him off
i see he's giving it all he's got
mother and father seeing a duet to each
other announcing their close partnership
the rival male seems to get the message
the song is particular to each couple
with no given pair having exactly the
same song
i know what this one's called a family
that sings
together clings together oh brother
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
oh
how are the horse riding lessons going
henry pretty good
i think he's starting to get the hang of
it i thought you were the one who was
supposed to be learning
learn i'm a natural i was saddle sore
before i could walk
let's go step on it vamos
i think the word is uh giddy up
[Music]
thanks what do you say for stop can you
stop
stop stop but i thought you were a
natural henry
i am a natural faller offer
what you need is practice okay
i'm practicing
[Music]
i think you'd better take a look at how
some real naturals hit your ride henry
hey come back
you could learn from the goby fish who's
popping out of his tunnel to have a look
around
his partner is a blind shrimp which
can't see a thing but is a fantastic
tunnel digger i can dig that
the partnership benefits both
the shrimp digs them a home however
shrimp sized
while the gobi acts as the shrimp's
guide dog with the shrimp keeping a
constant touch with its antennae
in the cave now boy
or should i say finn fit boy finn
hummingbirds move so quickly you
wouldn't think any animal could hit your
ride on them
but you'd be wrong can you see those
bugs
those are mites henry about the size of
a grain of sand
that's mighty small for a partner don't
you think
yep and these few seconds are the mites
only chance to descend on a new flower
full of nectar
and it looks like they'll make it i
thought they
might ah
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
henry henry it's time for your report on
animal bloodsuckers
what now yes now
out of my way journal lizard coming
[Music]
through
[Music]
jellyfish plays vegas and
lizards visit mars i like it
but now our top story
the farm yard was flabbergasted by
reports of vampire cows
by day they made chew grass and moon but
late at night
these bovine beauties don capes
wear slick-back hairstyles and sprout
fangs often pretending to be bats
except with putters they fly through the
sky in search of prey
leaving a trail of scared rabbits in
their wake
the problem may be spreading with
unconfirmed sightings of werewolf lambs
and the attack of the 50-foot turkey
so shut the barn door where garlic
flavor pajamas
and beware of that saying
[Music]
because the vampire cows are moving in
[Music]
do you think they bought it you couldn't
even give it away henry
let's
but you did make me think of one animal
bloodsucker which causes a lot of
trouble
the tiger take a closer look
i'm talking about the tick they're
parasites
bloodthirsty insects which offer nothing
to their partners but discomfort and
disease
see this one filling itself up with
blood and i thought the cows were the
vampires
ticks have three different stages of
growth and must feed on a different host
animal for each
here's a nymph stage tick on a deer
thank goodness for birds
uh little turtle left oh that's better
Egrets
[Music]
on the african savanna birds like these
egrets spell trouble for ticks
and i'll bet it spells relief for those
buffalo
you're right henry plus ticks aren't
just itchy
many diseases some of them deadly are
carried from animal to animal by these
deadly parasites
i see a pair right there and they're a
sight all right
get them egrets eat them all oh they'll
never get them all
but they do make the buffalo more
comfortable all he needs is a good
ticking off
Cowboy Town
oh this is town huh man am i
thirsty where's the snack bar this is
cowboy town henry
if you're thirsty better head for the
saloon i
hear the local watering hole can be
pretty rough
but that's okay cause i'm even rougher
[Music]
nice move tough guy are you calling me a
turkey
uh no offense two root beers one for me
and one for my partner
in a dirty glass
[Music]
got it
no i think it hit the rabbit careful
henry you don't want to annoy
anyone in here hey no problem everybody
just stay calm better sit down partner
we don't want any trouble
Big Mule
ah i didn't mean on a chair i hope you
can pay for that
well now you've done it you big mule
will get thrown out of here for sh
oh look out henry
now i know why they call them bouncers
from now on no more mr tough guy
maybe i'd be better off working alone
animals don't always get along these two
rock wallabies are sparring partners
but play fighting teaches them skills
they'll need later in life
wallabies are just lightweights here's
the main event
kangaroo kickboxing animals fight for a
number of reasons
to claim a territory to be head honcho
to protect their young or to win a mate
Kangaroo
these adders both want a mate with the
same female
to add her to their families eh
giraffes fight for control of a
territory
elks lock antlers
minks
and siamese fighting fish lock jaws with
just about anything
those ruffs play pretty rough
and beetles will take a beating when
it's time to win a mate
excuse me but that's amazing
Golden Gecko Awards
and now ladies and gentle lizards it's
time for henry's amazing golden gecko
awards
the winners of my all-time best amazing
animal partners
are
[Music]
in third place we're not being able to
keep their paws off each other
the red kangaroo
[Music]
in second place albatross is the name
kissy face is the game
but tonight's golden gecko award for the
The Honey Badger
most amazing animal partners
goes to africa's honey badger and his
very special friends
like the gus hawk the badgers cleanup
partner
who follows him for whatever food he
leaves behind
honey badgers have huge appetites are
afraid of nothing
and will eat almost anything from fruit
to reptiles
the goshawk has learned to follow the
honey badger for food
a snake tastes good but what honey
badgers really love to eat
is honey and they'll rate a bee's nest
whenever they can
and you're a bird called the honey guy
this is the badgers hive hunting partner
the goss hawk is happy to finish
whatever the badger leaves on his plate
but the honey guide has found something
much more interesting
because she can't break into the hive
herself the honey guy
calls for her honey hungry partner i'm
coming
he says stop badgering me this pair make
a great partnership
because they both thrive on the fruits
of the hive the birds find the hive
and the badger pulls out the honeycomb
you think that these things would be
unbearable but the honey badger can
barely feel them through his thick
loose-fitting skin
it's honey that he's after and he comes
back for more
when the honey badger has finally had
his fill the honey guide can move in
and get what she loves best the beeswax
and the young bee eggs so tonight we
salute this amazing freeway partnership
we call the honey bunch henry what are
Henry
you doing
the poster said cowboy tryouts at high
noon
this is as high as you can get in this
town and i'm the only cowboy up here
henry high noon means 12 o'clock
what time is it nearly
12 o'clock i
[Music]
[Music]
noticed
hey you saved me way to go partner
i knew your partnership would get better
henry it's just a matter of
i scratch your back you scratch mine how
do you know she likes being scratched so
much
it's an expression henry it means both
animals are getting something out of a
partnership
it's a mutual arrangement enjoyed by
Baboon
animals as different as the impala
and its partner the baboon they stick
together for
safety's sake i wouldn't want a baboon
for a partner
they're always monkeying around but what
would you do if you spotted a leopard
oh i think they come spotted already
[Music]
the impala sees one but has no voice to
warn the others
so it's handy having a baboon around to
sound the alarm call
loud and clear
[Music]
he'd rather eat antelope than cantaloupe
oh those liberals they drive me right up
a tree
whoops the impala are safe for now
thanks to this unique partnership
leopards rely on a surprise attack for
hunting success
not much chance of that with old big
mouth there around
baboons live in troops of 40 or 50.
taking to the cliffs for safety the
males stay
back to warn away that leopard
he's really put his foot down he's done
enough to ruin this leopard's chance of
dinner
poor leopard all she wants is a dinner
partner
yeah who doesn't mind being the dinner
funny funny
Ants
another partnership which benefits both
sides can be found here
where tiny red tree hoppers spend their
day sucking sap from trees
all day suckers
and their partners ants which feed on a
sugary liquid they squeeze out of them
like milk
what's in it for the tree hoppers just
watch
oh good grief that ant just risked his
life to protect the tree hoppers
seems like a high price to pay for a
little bug juice
sheesh
oh
[Music]
[Music]
um
a cowboy needs a partner like a treasure
Beanie
needs a chest
i've got the bestest partner in the
whole wild west
henry henry tell us did you get that
cowboy job or not
oh i got it all right now i know what
they meant by
cowboys wanted to clean up this town
come on beanie this load is ready for
the dump
ah at least you've settled on a name for
your partner
but why beanie because we love the same
food
cowboy fishies need a drink
we love to eat our beans all day and
that's why we both
and so henry the lizard fastest street
sweeper in the west
rode his trusty partner beanie off into
the sunset
proving that you'll never be a lonesome
cowboy as long as you've got an amazing
animal partner by your side
hey
