it was a glorious spring morning in

terrytown

and at terrytown airport brenda blue was

doing one of her favorite things in

all the world ah these look perfect

she was taking care of her beautiful

spring flowers

and jj and herky were helping gosh

your flowers sure look pretty well thank

you very much turkey

yeah and they have lots of colors i see

red and blue and yellow

and huh brenda herky

look what i found what is it jj

look look at this beautiful worm oh it

does look like a worm

but it's not it's a caterpillar

caterpillar

uh-huh hmm it looks like a nice little

worm to me

well it won't look like a worm for long

in fact one day

it'll be able to fly right alongside you

but brenda everyone knows that worms

can't

fly they don't have wings

well this caterpillar will when it grows

up

how could you ever fly

oops jj oh look at the time it's getting

really late

you've got to hurry or you'll be late

for your training flight with big jake

yikes

oh jj i've been thinking about how our

training flights have been going

yeah and i've come to an important

decision

i'm sorry i'm late whoa whoa uh i was

thinking you might be ready uh for a

route of your own

what i am yep my very own route

your very own route wow that would be

great yeah i suggested it to brenda and

she agrees

so after a few more training flights

you're going to be

on your own gee wow thanks big jake i

won't let you down

jj was so excited he worked very hard to

learn the new route

and now onward to our destination jj

sandy landing

sandy landing was where all the big

boats docked

on his new route jj would be delivering

supplies to a

big cargo ship

and the captain of that ship was none

other than captain

wentworth wow look what the wind blew in

if it isn't my old pal big jake you're

looking

ship shape as usual oh thank you captain

wentworth

it's good to see you too and you must be

jj

big jake has told me all about you i've

heard a lot about you too

captain wentworth i'm going to be

delivering your supplies

that's what i hear and you know what

something tells me

you and i are gonna become good friends

well jj thought this was a good

beginning

indeed

so he continued to train really hard

with big jake

but each afternoon after his training

flight

jj visited brenda blue to look at the

caterpillar

hi jj how's the caterpillar today brenda

well i think he's getting bigger but

i still don't see any wings you will jj

you will

jj continued his training and the harder

he worked

the better he flew finally one day

well jj today's your last day of

training

all right

yes tomorrow is going to be the big day

the first day that jj would fly his very

own route all by himself

that night jj was so excited

he could hardly sleep

the next morning he was up before

sunrise

the little blue jet was eager to show

everyone

that he could handle his very own route

he got the sandy landing just in time to

see

a beautiful sunrise

wow this is the neatest place i've ever

seen

i wonder what it looks like down on the

beach

hey maybe i'll go down there after all

there's plenty of time before i have to

meet with captain wentworth

but jj's sleepless night and early

flight

had made him very very tired

[Music]

the warm air felt so good

that without realizing it jj soon

closed his eyes and fell

fast asleep

[Music]

where am i oh no

captain wentworth the delivery my

first day jj tried

and tried and tried to start his engine

but it was waterlogged from the wet

ocean air

and it simply wouldn't budge

oh no i'm gonna be late

what am i gonna do now

[Music]

hmm

i wonder where that nice little jj is

he should have been here by now i hope

nothing's wrong

well he must have decided not to fly

this route

time to ship out anchors up

poor jj was stranded on the beach and

there was nothing he could do about it

oh i'm gonna be in so much trouble

so he just had to watch helplessly as

captain wentworth's ship

sailed off he knew he'd made a big

mistake

hey what's this mr caterpillar's gone

wonder where he went well hi there jj

what are you doing oh hi big jake i was

just

i was just looking for my friend mr

caterpillar

[Music]

caterpillar friend isn't gone he's right

there inside that cocoon

hey he must be hiding in there

did you make a mistake too can i hide in

there with you

well now what's the matter jj oh big

jake i

blew it today i fell asleep on the beach

and when i woke up captain wentworth was

sailing away

i wish i could hide away from everybody

like mr caterpillar

well you know the caterpillar isn't

hiding inside his cocoon

he's he's in there changing he's he's

growing up

what do i have to do to grow up big jake

well you're already doing it jj

every day you're changing and learning

new things

well that's what growing up is all about

i wish i could grow up

faster i think you're doing just fine

just to be sure to go to bed early

tonight and get plenty of sleep

you have to be ready for your next run

to sandy landing tomorrow

huh you mean i'm still on the route

even after what happened that's right

you can learn from what happened today

mistakes they can help you grow and

change

it's all part of earning your wings kind

of like what your friend the caterpillar

is doing right now

really you bet

the next day jj handled the sandy

landing route

perfectly and just as captain wentworth

predicted

she and jj became the best of friends

but that wasn't the only good thing that

happened

some days later jj received a

big surprise nice job

jj we're all very proud of you

and today because of all your hard work

we're happy to give you your very first

wings congratulations jj

you've earned them gosh i've earned my

wings

yes that was a wonderful surprise

but an even bigger surprise came when he

went to visit his friend the caterpillar

inside the cocoon when he got there

the cocoon was open and out of it had

come

a butterfly wow

brenda was right you did grow wings mr

caterpillar

now you're a butterfly hey wait for me

i earned my wings too
