an ordinary day in terrytown

but for herky the helicopter it was a

very

special day and it all started with the

arrival of the mail

it's here it's here i know herpe i

already have the mailbag

here it is the letter from the chopper

scouts of america

you bet dear herky

we here at the chopper scouts would love

to have you join us

but before you can become a member you

have to earn

our special chopper scout merit badge

to earn that merit badge you first have

to do

a good deed as soon as you've done your

good deed and have earned that merit

badge

you can join us on camping trips

sing-alongs and all sorts of fun things

signed the president of the chopper

scouts of america

wow i wonder what that means

a good deed is something nice that you

do for someone

really a nice thing huh but it's gotta

be

more than that i bet they want me to do

a really

big nice thing a really gigantic

nice thing perky all you simply have to

do

is a good deed so go out there and do

something nice

all righty then i'll do something nice

nice and big and brave and

bold and fearless

the letter didn't say anything about big

brave bold and fearless

when herky left terrytown airport he was

in search of adventure

he was determined to do a good deed but

he wanted to make it the

biggest good deed he could find

to be a proper chopper scout you've got

to do

a good deed a very good deed and

exceptional deed you've got to find

somebody somewhere in incredible need

and show up like a proper chopper scout

when i become a chopper scout i'll do

good deeds even more if you please at

unbelievable speeds and when i do my

first deed i'll have a badge that will

read

group they soon will find out

there was never a doubt he's a real

yes herky was ready to do his good deed

but first he had to find one now who

could help him do that

the first plane he saw was big jake

you've been making deliveries all day

well that's right we'll have you come

across everybody who needs help today

big help well earlier today i passed

over construction site at the edge of

terrytown

and the boss told me he needed help

hauling away a huge load of rocks

that's great it's big it's brave

heck that's exactly the kind of good

deed i'm looking to do

well the site is right over there where

uh where my left wing is pointing

oh thanks bing jake you really helped me

out

when i get my merit badge i'll even let

you

wear it once in a while bye

so herky raced over to the construction

site

i'm an official chopper scout in

training

does anybody need any help

hmm i wonder who i should talk to around

hey there herky old buddy

are you doing here you see i was at the

airport minding my own business

when suddenly i got a radio call asking

if i'd come out here and help move some

big boulders away

so i did you did all of them

yep all of them boss said it was a great

job

and he wished he could pin a badge or

something on me for doing such a good

deed

isn't that a nice thing to say yeah real

nice

well my job here is all done gotta be on

the way

later oh well

i guess i could find some other good

deed to do

and so herky hovered off in search of

another way to earn his merit badge

luckily for him he didn't have to wait

very long

hey savannah hello there little one

what's on your mind honey well i was

just wondering

you've been traveling all over today

right

as fast as my supersonic jets can take

me

well have you seen anybody who needs

help today

big big help well now

let me think right yes as a matter of

fact i did

really oh well

just this morning as i flew over tippy

tippytop at peak

i saw a poor mountain climber who'd lost

his gloves

he asked me if i'd seen him but i told

him i hadn't

but that's just a guy who's lost his

gloves

well yes honey but he lost them on top

of tippett topic peak

and it's been so windy near that peak

lately it wouldn't be good for

anyone to fly knit windy huh

so if somebody went up there to get that

guy's gloves then

they'd be doing a really brave good deed

huh

why yes i guess so if they were silly

enough to try it and all that wind

thanks savannah i gotta run

and uh when i get my better badge i'll

let you

wear it sometime well all right

i wonder why he was asking me those

questions

even though savannah had said it was too

windy herky headed

right toward tippy toppy peak

right to the top of old tippy poppy pink

herky was tossed and tumbled by the

strong winds near tippy toppy peak

but the winds were so bad

that herky never even got close

instead he got blown all the way back to

terrytown

airport this

is terrible i never

got close to tippy toppy

and i never never got close to doing my

good deed

oh i guess i'll never ever ever

get to be a chopper scout

but just then herky heard a noise

hey hey herky

what's wrong can you give me a little

bump

i'm stuck on this road sure

no problem

hey thanks well see you around herky old

later herky sadly arrived home

[Music]

but when he got there he was greeted

with a big surprise

[Music]

herky you're just a helicopter i was

waiting for

but but who's it for it's for you

the chopper scouts just sent it over

you're their newest member

really for me but why

i didn't do a big brave good deed

herky you didn't have to do a big

brave good deed you only had to do a

little

good deed yeah buddy and when i told

brenda how you helped me when i was

stuck

she told the chopper scouts and they set

the badge right over

you did a good deed without even knowing

it

and that by the way is the best way to

do a good deed

it should just come from the heart herky

i hereby award you

this merit badge but not for doing

a big brave deed but for doing

a little brave deed and also for having

a big

heart

and so that's how herky earned his merit

badge

just by doing a little good deed

herky now knew that when it comes to

helping people

it doesn't matter if what you do is big

or

little just as long as it comes from the

[Music]

heart
