FLASH GORDON
[VOICEOVER]: Blasting

off on a desperate
mission to save Earth

from the evil plottings ofa tyrannical space lord,

Ming the Merciless.

[laughs]

Dr. Hans Zarkov and Dale Ardenhave joined me, Flash Gordon,

on a fantastic journey
into worlds where

peril and adventure await us.

[roar]

[roar]

[growl]

[explosions]

NARRATOR: Crashing on Mongo,Flash, Dale, and Zarkov

are taken before
the evil emperor,

Ming the Merciless, who plansto add Earth to his chain

of galactic conquests.

While Dr. Zarkov is forced towork in Ming's laboratories,

Flash and Dale escape with theirnew ally, Thun, the Lion Man,

and flee into the
dark cavern world

beneath the planet surface.

And now, Chapter Two.

The Monsters of Mongo.

[music playing]

[growling]

[roar]

Hey!
Hey!

Hey!

[roaring]

[roars]

Dale, get ready to run forit when that thing let's go.

[growling]

Dale, Thun, spread out.

Run for it!

I'll try to lead it off.

Hey!

I'm no wilting violet.

I share the risks with you.

One for all, and all for one.

Here comes double trouble.

[growling]

[chomp]

[chomping]

Oh, those horrible things.

I thought I was lost.

Not as long as I live, Dale.

[galloping]

Bring me the Earthlings.

You can have the Lion
Man for yourselves.

Run!

After them!

We can make it.
This way.

[growls]

Thun.

They've got him trapped.

So, we meet again.

Did you think I would
let you escape me?

Not if you could help it.

OK, you've won
this one, Princess.

Now what happens?

You'll go with me.

[thrusters roaring]

[whoosh]

[growl]

[fire crackling]

[growls]

Your Imperial
Majesty, I must protest.

You are in no position toprotest anything, Dr. Zarkov.

Not You are alive
because I permit it.

Remember this.

FLASH: I promise you,
Ming, one day we'll

settle our score, man to man.

[laughs]

The dauntless hero
speaks, foolishly.

Our "score," as you call
it, will be settled now.

Dr. Zarkov will continue
his scientific research

in my laboratories for me.

The girl, Dale Arden, amuses me.

She will join my other woman.

As for you two, you havecaused me trouble enough.

You will spend the
rest of your lives

as sl*ves in my Giridium mines.

No!

Nothing can live long in theradiation in those mines.

No, Father!

I want the Earth Man.

Give him to me!

I promise.

You will not interfere withmy commands again, Daughter.

Even you are not
exempt from my anger!

No!

You can't do this.

Flash!

[splashing]

[bubbling]

[snarl]

[coughing]

Somebody ought
to fix that step.

[rumbling]

We won't last long here.

The Giridium ore burns
with a cold fire that

rots flesh and blinds eyes.

Radiation.

Zarkov knew.

In that case, we'll make ourstay here as brief as possible.

[snarl]

You have saved my
life more than once,

risking your own to do so.

Why, Earth Man?

Because we're
in this together,

and by sticking by
each other, well, maybe

we can accomplish something.

[whip cracks]

[snarl]

You have spoken of thisbefore, standing together

against the common foe.

Now I understand your
words, Flash Gordon.

[rumbling]

[clanging]

How long can a man last here?

THUN: A few days.

No longer than a hundred.

Even a week could take
a toll on your health.

[whip cracks]

[growls]

[grinding]

Rest period.

And they will feed us.

I've more appetite for
a way out of this place.

[roaring]

Few men have ever escapedfrom Ming the Merciless,

and none from the
Giridium mines.

Until now.

I don't intend to leaveDale and Zarkov, or myself,

to the whims of Ming's mercy.

[roars]

Eat it.

You'll need your strength.

I'd rather starve.

[chomp]

By the gods of
Mongo, I'll starve

with your before I'll eat that!

You'll eat this gladly beforeyou're through down here.

Slumming, Princess?

I can save you, Flash Gordon.

Just me?

You are the only
one I care about.

Thanks, but no thanks.

You refuse my help?

Why me?

I will not be questioned.

It is my desire to save you.

Let me help you.

[laughs]

You are honored, Flash Gordon.

Any prince of Mongo would givehis soul to hear the Princess

Aura say she cared for them.

Silence, Lion Man!

Or I will have you
silenced, forever!

THUN: Now speaks the PrincessAura I've known and loved.

PRINCESS AURA: I warn you, Thun!

[inaudible] me, Earth Man.

I swear you will not
wear the silver chains

and servitude for long.

By the Emperor's beard,
for when she loves you.

[laughs]

I'll teach you manners!

[buzzing]

[boom]

FLASH: Stand still.

Drop your weapons.

Now.

Do as he commands.

sl*ves, strike now!

It's the only chance
you'll ever get!

[clamoring]

[boom]

[fire crackling]

[water rushing]

[rumbling]

Looks like Ming's out
to dampen our spirits.

[growls]

I'll show you another way out.

Be quiet.

Water cascading down
through the tunnel.

I hope you're a good
swimmer, Princess.

PRINCESS AURA: This
way to freedom.

THUN: Don't trust her.

We've got no choice.

[whoosh]

Hurry, Thun!

This the only chance we have.

No!

Not that way.

It is too dangerous.

FLASH: In you go, Princess.

No!

Wait!

Ow!

[crash]

All we need now is the
monster of the minds.

How could you know of Tesak?

Hey, look, I was just
trying to be funny.

There's nothing
funny about Tesak.

What is it?

PRINCESS AURA: The ancient one.

The guardian of
the mines of Mongo.

Tesak will not harm me.

I'll be interested infinding out if you're right.

OK, we'll worry about
Tesak when we find him.

Or it finds us.

[zapping]

[growls]

PRINCESS AURA: Tesak!

FLASH: What's it waiting for?

It's blind from these caverns.

It hunts by sounds only.

Stand still.

Don't move.

[growling]

[laser]

[thud]

Pretty fancy weapon, this.

A multi-ray projector.

Every power setting
from white frequency

to raw-burning energy.

Zarkov would love
a toy like this.

Zarkov.

Dale.

I've got to find a wayto rescue them from Ming.

But first, how do
we get out of here?

There is a way.

See?

THUN: Daylight!

[squawking]

[birds calling]

Arboria!

Prince Barin's domain.

We're lost.

It's a constrictor plant.

[snarling]

[thud]

[horn blows]

[swoosh]

[laughs]

We meet again, Aura.

And I gave you fair warningto never cross my path again,

Earthling.

If I'd known you'd use thesefunny little plants to do

your dirty work,
I might have tried

harder to avoid you, Barin.

I need nothing to do
my work, man or plant.

[boing]

[crackles]

[thud]

Welcome to Arboria,
Princess Aura.

I'll make your stay
a pleasant one.

Release us!

I command you!

We will discuss
it later, privately.

What about us?

You two will join theother enemies of Arboria,

in the sl*ve camps.

You'll have to catch us first.

[growls]

Let the Earth Man go, Barin.

So, you favor Flash
Gordon over to me?

I would favor any man onMongo over an egotistical fool

such as yourself.

The day will come whenyou will desire my love as

much as I desire yours, Aura.

PRINCESS AURA: That
day will never come!

We'll see.

Bring her along.

[grunt]

THUN: Why do we waste
time doing this, Flash?

To make the chase a littlemore difficult for Barin.

That'll do it.

Come on.

[thump]

Come here.

Hurry.

[growls]

The chase ends now!

We're trapped!

[flapping]

It looks like
we're all trapped.
