And we were there to get my first reporting job

along with that newshound, a pup named Scooby-Doo.

Like, it's pretty cool that Freddie's uncle bought

the Exaggerator, isn't it?

Get serious, Shaggy.

Who can take a paper seriously

if it doesn't give good fashion tips?

Look, there's Bigfoot.

Oh, Freddie, there is no such thing as Bigfoot.

Hi, Big F.

Wow! And there's his cousin Bighands.

Freddie.

- Hi, Uncle Eddie. - It's great to see you.

Seen any Mole Men lately?

No. But I'll bet they're hiding outside the window right now.

Zoinks! Like, I hope not.

Me, too.

Freddie, you wanna be a reporter, you got it.

- Really? - That's right.

My editor, Sam Schlok will give you your first assignment.

This is great.

We're official reporters for the Exaggerator.

[Shaggy] 'Like, I guess that means we can go in.'

[Scooby] I guess so.

Let's go scoop 'em, g*ng.

M-mr. Schlok, i-it's me Freddie Jones.

[squawking]

It's Chickenstein!

[all screaming]

[Chickenstein squawking]

I must destroy the Exaggerator!

[squawking]

The Exaggerator is finished!

[Scooby] Yikes! Come on, let's scoot.

[Fred] Let's get outta here.

[squawking]

[panting] Like, that oughta hold him.

[panting] I hope so.

Uncle Eddie sure will be proud of us catching Chickenstein.

Did you say Chickenstein?

Like, in the living feathers. He's locked in that office.

Wow! In there?

Uh, where did everyone go, Uncle Eddie?

Well, all my employees quit.

Quit? What for?

[Eddie] Something scared them all away.

Why, you'd think they'd never seen

a seven-foot tall chicken monster.

Imagine that.

Like, I wonder why he's trying to destroy the Exaggerator.

Ah-ha, how'd you know Chickenstein

is driving me out of business?

Yeah, huh, huh, huh?

Because that's what Chickenstein said he was going to do.

- Oh. - Oh.

boom

What was that?

Like, it looks like Chickenstein winged his way outta here.

[Scooby sniffing]

ding ding ding

[Fred] What is it, Scooby?

- Jinkies. - Velma said Jinkies.

Like, it must be a clue.

You told me that you found all the clues, Freddie.

[Scooby and Velma clearing throats]

Well, most of the clues.

[Scooby and Velma clearing throats]

Okay, so I've never found a clue in my whole life.

This dirt comes from the Coolsville cemetery.

[Shaggy giggling nervously] 'The Coolsville cemetery?'

L-like, that's a major heebie-jeebie zone.

I hate heebie-jeebie zones.

Don't worry, the Scooby-Doo Detective Agency

will stop Chickenstein and I'll write

the award-winning story about it.

We'll stop Chickenstein?

Sure, because we've got the best newshound in Coolsville.

We do?

A pup who's not afraid of Mole Men

Martians or monsters.

- Who's that? - You.

I was afraid he'd say that.

[crow cawing]

[Shaggy whimpering]

L-like, can we go home now?

[gulps] Yeah, pretty please?

It's the zombie go-go dancers from beyond the grave.

Oh, no!

Zombie go-go dancers?

Wow, now I've got two stories to write.

Cool it, kid, there's no zombies around here

dancin' or otherwise.

- Gosh, it's Scoop Byline! - Who's that?

Only the greatest reporter

the National Exaggerator's ever had.

I'll never forget your story

about the Pizza People from Pluto.

Oh, boy. Like, it sounds like my kind of people.

[slurps] Mine, too.

Yeah, that one was pure poetry.

Scoop was also the man who broke the Chickenstein story.

Ha, that's old news to me.

Now, I've got an even bigger story to cover.

Look, ever hear of Granny Sweetwater?

[Daphne] Who's she?

Oh, just your average fortune tellin' psychic

who lives in a cemetery.

Wow! Sounds like my kind of lady.

There's something fishy happenin' at her place.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I got some heavy duty

Exaggerator-type reporting to do.

Wow! Journalism in the making.

- Are you gonna interview her? - 'Nah.'

I'm gonna dig through her garbage and see what I can find.

Sayona-row.

Ha! That's my hero. Come on, g*ng.

Let's do a little investigating of our own.

Remember, the Exaggerator needs us.

[dramatic music]

Ah-ha! Thought you could pull a fast one on us, didn't you?

Yeah. Who are you?

Watch it, fleabag. You're talking to Bad News Bitterman!

Didn't you used to be the Exaggerator's

number one reporter?

Yeah, until Scoop Byline came along

and ruined everything for me.

Thanks to his reporting, I've been demoted to janitor.

- The editor? Oh. - No, janitor.

Look at these second-rate stories I had to write.

[Fred] '"World's meanest bully?"'

'Well, that's Red Herring.'

I'll bet he's working with Chickenstein.

You're a real featherbrain, Jones.

[Red] 'Hey.'

'That's not very funny.'

Out of my way.

I'm gonna help Chickenstein ruin Scoop's career

like he ruined mine.

Hmm. If you ask me, that lady has a problem.

I'll say. Her dress is gross.

It's time to look for clues.

- Uh-oh, you don't mean.. - 'That's right.'

Let's split up, g*ng.

[wolf howling]

[Shaggy] Like, I sure hope we don't see Chickenstein, Scoob.

[Scoob] Me, too.

Like, it's Chickenstein's third cousin, Owlstein.

Let's split.

[panting]

Zoinks! Like, this place is creep central.

Shaggy, look.

Oh, no. It's the nest of Chickenstein.

[squawking]

I will exterminate you.

[squawking continues]

Like, let's wing it, Scoob.

Open up, in the name of

the Scooby-Doo Detective Agency, Granny Sweetwater.

Oh, hello.

Um, would you like your palm read or fortune told?

No. I wanna know where you're hiding Chickenstein.

And I wanna know now.

Oh, there must be some kind of mistake.

Uh, why don't you children come inside?

Like, don't mind if we do, Granny.

[Scooby] 'Yeah, thanks.'

What happened to you two?

Oh, boy, like, we saw

hard-boiled horror, Chickenstein.

Yeah, Chickenstein.

Oh, I might as well tell you kids the truth.

I'm the reason Chickenstein's return from...the beyond.

How could you possibly be responsible for Chickenstein?

Well, first I called upon the spirits of the other side.

Uh, like this.

[screeching]

Then, I tapped into a foul force beyond my control.

[squawking]

This is so great.

This is so stupid.

[screeching]

[Scooby] 'Granny Sweetwater!'

[Shaggy] 'Like, what's going on?'

[squawking] Death!

Oh, no. Chickenstein got Granny Sweetwater.

And now, I've got you exactly where I want you.

[all whimpering]

[laughing maniacally]

[teeth chattering]

[all whimpering]

[roaring]

Like, don't just stand there, Scoob. Do something.

Okay. Help!

[upbeat music]

[squawking]

Way to go, Scooby. That's my newshound.

whoosh

[music continues]

[clucking]

Like, welcome, Mr. Chickenstein.

You're just in time to have your fortune told.

[Chickenstein] Huh?

Please be seated.

Introducing the mystic with the mostest..

...Madam Doo.

That's me.

I see. I see.

Like, what is it, Madam Doo?

I was handsome.

[giggling]

[clucking]

Like, don't get your feathers ruffled, Mr. Chickenstein.

Madam Doo is also an excellent palm and wing reader.

I am?

Oh, yeah, I am.

Hmm..

[gasps] Oh, no!

[clucking nervously]

Ooh! Like, is it bad news, Madam Doo?

Terrible!

[Daphne] A fast-food restaurant is in your future.

You better lay low for a while.

[clucking]

[Fred] That's right. You don't come out all day.

Or all week.

Or maybe longer.

Let's get outta here.

[squawking]

That was close.

- Like, I'll say. - Me, too.

I wonder what happened to that dear little Granny Sweetwater?

I'm not sure.

But I bet my Uncle Eddie will stop the presses

when he hears about this.

Lead the way, newshound.

Who me?

[Eddie] This is a great story, Freddie.

I can see the headline now.

"Chickenstein lives."

[Scoop] 'Not bad, kid.'

Unfortunately, my story turned out be a bunch of garbage.

Eww, I'll say..

You really hit the bullseye

uh, make that birds eye, with this story.

Wow! Thanks, Scoop.

Huh, it's too bad we're going out of business

and I can't print it.

[all] Aww!

Did someone say that the Exaggerator's

going out of business?

Like, yeah. Why?

[blows raspberry]

Too bad.

[laughing]

Who's he?

You're Hank Laughenstock.

The guy who Scoop proved to be Chickenstein.

Ever since you wrote that stupid story about me

everyone thinks I'm that rotten egg Chickenstein.

Yeah, well, how do you explain those eggs and feathers

I found at your house, huh?

- Yeah, explain that one, buddy. - Yeah, buddy.

That's because I own a chicken farm!

Gee, I...never thought of that.

But now, the Exaggerator's out of business.

And Scoop is out of a job.

Oh, you know life just don't get much better that this.

Fear not, Uncle Eddie, nothing will stop

the Scooby-Doo Detective Agency from bagging this bird.

Because we've got the best bird dog around.

I hope he doesn't mean me.

Yes, a newshound who's not afraid of ghosts, vampires

Mole Men, giant spiders, eels or even three-headed zombies

who eat puppies for dinner.

Oh, don't be afraid now.

Shaggy, Scooby!

Would you two let go of that desk?

Like, Daphne, we told you.

Scoob and I aren't settin' foot into that fright zone again.

Yeah, we're staying right here.

But it's only a dark and spooky cemetery filled with graves.

[both] Yikes!

I swear, you two are such a pair of chickens.

Like, you said it, Daphne.

[both clucking]

Oh, brother.

[clucking]

[farting]

Huh?

Oops. Hee-hee-hee.

[loud squawking]

- W-who's that? - Look, it's Chickenstein.

[Daphne] 'And he's going inside that mausoleum.'

Well, g*ng, there's only one thing to do.

Like, don't say it, Freddie, please.

Pretty please.

We've got to follow him in there.

- Like, he said it, Scoob. - I know.

Would you go inside for a Scooby Snack?

No way, it's too spooky.

Would you do it for a gourmet Scooby Snack

that's been sauteed in cheese?

Hmm, well, okay.

- Jenkins! - Yes.

Scooby is ready.

Yes, Ms. Blake.

Dinner is served, sir.

Oh, boy!

- That will be all, Jenkins. - Yes, Ms. Blake.

[moaning]

Ah.

Okay, I'm ready.

Let's go, g*ng.

[dramatic music]

Wow! This really is the nest of Chickenstein.

[Scooby sniffing]

Like, you can't walk on the ceiling, Scoob!

I can't, oh-oh.

[Velma] Jinkies! Good work, Scooby.

Thanks, Velma.

[sneezing]

What did I do?

You sniffed out that clue

you wily old newshound you.

[Daphne] I wonder what Chickenstein would need

with feather pillows and glue.

[squawking]

To make you kids egg-stinct!

[Fred] It's Chickenstein!

Oh, boy, it's time for us to egg-zit stage left.

[chuckles nervously] Somebody start the music.

Thanks, Velma.

[ethereal vocalization]

[all] Yikes!

[screaming]

sure got a lot of neat stuff in her basement.

I'll say.

It all looks brand new.

New furniture that looks this tacky?

Eww.

Jinkies.

Like, I think Velma solved this mystery.

And I'll bet she has a plan too.

Well, I think we can work something out.

[Shaggy] Like, welcome to the grand reopening

of the National Exaggerator.

The paper Chickenstein couldn't stop.

We'll see about that!

[both] Yikes!

- Let's split! - You said it, Scoob.

[squawking]

I wonder what's taking Shaggy and Scooby so long.

[Shaggy and Scooby] Yikes!

Oh, great, what will we do now?

[squawking]

Run!

[all] Yikes!

[Fred] Let's get outta here!

[groans] Oh, no.

- We're caught in our own trap. - Don't worry, Daphne.

Scooby and Shaggy and Freddie will catch the monster.

Oh, right, Velma.

- Like, he's gaining on us. - He is? Yikes!

[Fred and Shaggy] Whoa!

thud

[squawking]

Like, you wouldn't wanna talk this over, would you?

Yeah. Uh-oh.

Huh?

[screaming]

Good going, Scooby.

I knew my newshound could do it.

Why me?

Like, thanks to old Scoob

this chicken will be cooped up for a long time.

Get it, Scoob. Chicken, coop!

[laughing]

I don't get it.

Just think, I finally get to meet Chickenstein.

He's not really Chickenstein, Mr. Jones.

He's not? Darn.

Yeah, darn.

Phew! Thank goodness!

It has to be Bad News Bitterman.

She hates Scoop Byline.

Besides, anyone who dresses that tacky

wouldn't think twice about climbing

into a chicken costume.

Like, no way, Daphne.

It was Hank Laughenstock.

He was really mad at Scoop and the Exaggerator.

Well, you're both wrong.

Chickenstein is really Red Herring.

I think you may have something there, Freddie.

Why don't you Jones jerks bother

someone else for a change?

Hmph! What a pair of major and minor twits.

Actually, Mr. Jones

Chickenstein is none other than..

...Casmer Codwaller.

[all] Huh!

Like, who's he?

I don't know.

Perhaps, this will help.

[all] 'Granny Sweetwater!'

[Velma] I first began to suspect Granny when I saw that closet

Scooby hid in was full of men's suits.

And after Scooby found the feathers and glue

I used my computer and discovered that everything

in Granny's basement was stolen.

So, that's why he pretended to be Granny Sweetwater.

It was so no one would guess

that he was selling stolen merchandise.

But then, Scoob came along and started to watch the house.

Like, yeah, so he became Chickenstein

to scare Scoob away from his home.

And closed down the Exaggerator.

And I would have gotten away with it

if it weren't for these kids and their puppy.

He plucked my costume.

[chuckling] Sorry.

Hey, that was a great piece

of investigative reporting you kids did.

Thanks, Scoop.

And just to show how impressed I am

I'm gonna stick my name on your story.

[gasps] Would you really?

Like, it looks like your story's a big hit, Freddy.
