04x16 - Swan Song

Post by bunniefuu »

Why is it I'm always
behind the broom?

Because we need somebody
with broom talent...

...to get this place spiffed up.

Look at that.
You could see your face in it.

The El won't have
any complaints here.

What's an El, anyway?

The Ecology Inspector.

His job is to make sure the air,
water and land stay clean.

Never heard of him.

He's from
the Interplanetary Control Force...

...the same department as Mandora,
the evil chaser.

You've never heard of him because
he's constantly inspecting the universe.

That's millions of light years
to travel.

-Wow! How will he ever find us?
LION-O: It's tricky, Snarf.

His space vehicle has special
Space Way Airborne Navigation.

S-W-A-N or SWAN for short.

It's a direction-finder
that emits a songlike sound.

That's how they'll find
this speck of a planet.

Oh, I get it. A SWAN song.

Ha, ha.
Well, I guess you could call it that.

I'm picking up the sound.

There it is.

PANTHRO:
He's still a long way out.

Everyone, keep tight on your monitors.
We don't wanna lose him.

WILYKAT:
What direction is he coming from?

In over the Iron Glades,
then across the Mountains of the Moon.

I don't like that.

It's where Dome-Down
was last sighted.

But do you think
Two-Time is still active?

Let's hope not.

PILOT: We're homing in
on New Thundera, sir.

Only a few light years to go.

INSPECTOR:
Hey. The New Thundera file.

Boy. The Thundercats have been
a real bastion out here...

...in protecting the ecology.

INSPECTOR:
I'm counting on them...

...to help me capture
this intergalactic poacher...

...who's been stealing whole
endangered species and land masses.

TWO-TIME:
Blast! The El is on my trail.

I've got to take offensive action.

In order to discourage the SWAN,
something special is called for.

TWO-TIME: Now, because the SWAN
navigates by sound...

...it can be thwarted by it as well.

[CHUCKLES] Let's see.

[CACKLES]

TWO-TIME: We'll start with a really
stupendous electrical storm.

One of force 10 magnitude.

[ELECTRIC CURRENT CRACKLING]

Very nice effect.

Now, we need some results.

How about some rain? Meteor rain.

Uh-oh, rain on the roof
How [ love rain on the roof

[CHUCKLES]

Bad weather ahead, sir.
An astral storm.

Certainly we can go all around it?

Well, it covers a tremendous area.
It'll take us hours out of our way.

[STUTTERS]

Well, then, let's go through it.

With the SWAN system, we should
have no trouble navigating, right?

Ah. No, sir.

Engines, full ahead.

[THUNDER CLAPPING]

[INSPECTOR STUTTERING]

Maybe we should turn back.

Too late now, sir.

If I try that maneuver,
we'll be torn to pieces.

I'd say now is about time
to give them...

...what they think is a way out.

First, we open up.

All right.

Now for the hologram projector.

Showtime!

TWO-TIME:
Ta-da!

-Look!
INSPECTOR: Saved!

Go for it.

But, sir, the radar doesn't show
a break in the storm.

Ah. It might be on the blink.

What location reading
does the SWAN song give us?

[RADIO STATIC]

[PILOT YELLS]

The sound of the storm is fouling up
the SWAN song system.

The static is deafening.

Then, turn it off, man.

And head for that opening.

That's amazing. It's clear as a bell.

The storm has vanished.

Well, it seems too good to be true.

INSPECTOR:
Do you recognize this landscape?

PILOT:
No, but....

Well, it somehow doesn't look real,
but that can't be.

Now I open the rear of Dome-Down.

TWO-TIME:
And as they fly through my hologram...

...they won't see the Mountains of the
Moon in front of them until it's too late.

[CHUCKLES]

Yow!
Where did those mountains come from?

Do something!

Hey!

PILOT:
Look out!

Lion-O, the SWAN song
has gone off the air.

What? That's not possible.

CHEETARA:
Look. Their signal has gone.

LION-O:
Cheetara, note their last position...

...and trace their most likely
flight path.

They couldn't just disappear
into thin air.

It's time we saw for ourselves
what's going on.

Hmm. Just what I expected.

The Thundercats are airborne.

This is the perfect chance to draw them
into the same trap as the El.

Once they're all out of the way...

...I can proceed with my master plan,
the ultimate land grab.

[LAUGHS]

TWO-TIME: There's a good market
in real estate these days...

...if you're on top of it.

We're coming up on the area where
the SWAN went off the air, Lion-O.

WILYKAT: Wow!
It looks like one heck of a storm.

That's odd, because the radar shows
no natural disturbance.

Does that mean it's not there?

Something's there.
And we're going through it.

Lion-O, the Feliner can't take
much more of this punishment.

We're going to shake to pieces.

Look!
There's an opening in the storm.

WILYKIT:
Just in time.

I'm still not getting a reading.

We've got to take a chance.
I'm going to take her in.

The Thundercats have responded
quicker than I thought.

Well, then, it's showtime number two!

I'll adjust the position
of Dome-Down again.

Perfect! With my hologram,
the Thundercats can't see behind me.

TWO-TIME: And when I open the back
of Dome-Down...

...they'll fly straight through
the hologram and into the mountain.

Bye-bye, inspector...

...and now,
bye-bye, Thunderdummies.

[CHUCKLES]

Everybody hold on.

WILYKAT: Hey, this is all right.
WILYKIT: Sunshine and clear skies.

CHEETARA:
I don't know.

For some reason,
this just doesn't feel right to me.

-A mountain!
-Look out!

Pull up! Pull up!

I can't! It's too late!

Hang on, everyone.
We're going to make it.

LION-O:
If the skid plates hold out.

PANTHRO:
How's the control feel, Lion-O?

Shaky, Panthro.
We may have damaged our landing gear.

Look, down below.

I think they've seen us.

Yes, sir, but it's gonna be
a tricky place to land.

They must be survivors of the SWAN.
I'll come around for a landing.

I don't know if we can trust
that bent landing gear...

...on this rough terrain, Lion-O.

We'll just have to take the chance,
Panthro.

We can't leave them here.

Look, there, just on the horizon.

CHEETARA: Dome-Down. No wonder
we couldn't see it on our overflights.

It's camouflaged.

-Get set for emergency landing.
-Locked and set.

-Ready.
-Take her down.

The left gear is holding.

Lion-0O,
there's an enormous rock ahead!

Stand by. I'm reversing the engines.

PANTHRO: We'll never take off
with that bent gear, Lion-O.

Here come the Thunderkittens
with the survivors of the SWAN.

Greetings, I'm the Ecology Inspector
and this is my pilot.

-We're in your debt for the rescue.
-You're welcome, sir.

I'm Lion-0O,
and these are the Thundercats.

Now, let's hope
we can find a way out of here.

So the Thundercats
missed the mountain.

Uh-uh. I'll fix that.

TWO-TIME: It looks like
the Thundercats' vehicle is broken down.

This is perfect.

WILYKAT: Great Jaga,
look at the size of that thing.

INSPECTOR: That's the machine
we're here to apprehend.

It's been responsible
for the wholesale theft...

...of irreplaceable jungles,
deserts and lakes.

But why would someone steal a lake?

To sell to unscrupulous parties
who have ruined their own lakes...

...with neglect and pollution.

PANTHRO:
And Dome-Down can do it.

It's capable of lifting thousands
of times its own weight.

It's coming this way.
We've been spotted.

Here's a little something
for the Inspector's Clean Air Act.

That filthy polluter
is dumping his oily waste on us.

LION-O:
Everyone under the Feliner.

CHEETARA:
Go. go!

That should hold you
while I make an important pick-up.

PANTHRO:
Would you look at this. What a mess.

WILYKIT:
What a terrible thing to do.

That's what we're up
against these days.

People who don't care
where they dump their waste.

So long as it's not
in their own backyard.

It's Two-Time's next backyard
that has me worried.

We've got to find out
what he's up to.

Panthro, how long will it take us to fix
that landing gear and get airborne?

I can't say, Lion-O,
it's completely mangled.

Gentlemen,
it might be a long shot, but--

Well, the wreckage of the SWAN
might have our solution.

Perhaps our landing gear can be salvaged
and adapted to your ship.

A long shot's better than no shot.

Lead us to the crash site, captain.

I tell you, they should have been back
long ago.

They've dropped off of the monitors...

...and I can't raise them
on the communicator.

You worry too much, Uncle Snarf.

They're probably into radio silence
and for a good reason.

[RUMBLING]
Do you hear that?

Maybe you're hearing things, unc.

That's probably
our astro generators recycling.

SNARF:
Look. It's getting darker.

SNARFER:
Probably a cloud in front of the sun.

SNARF:
No! No! I can see the sun!

SNARF:
It's clear. It's a shadow over us.

You know, it is getting harder
to read in here.

[RUMBLING]

SNARF:
The whole Cats' Lair is moving.

SNARFER:
Look. We're going up!

[POUNDING]

That's it. You can let it down.

Climb aboard.
Let's see if this bird will fly.

Heading for home.

WILYKIT: Look!
CHEETARA: Cats' Lair is missing.

That doesn't seem possible.

Oh, yes, it's very possible.
It's Two-Time and Dome-Down.

Undoubtedly.
It's Two-Time's work all right.

INSPECTOR:
He's probably looking for a buyer...

...for your Cats' Lair as we speak.

There will be no sale if we can help it.

Cheetara, can you pick up
any directional signals on Dome-Down?

Yes, I read a vector at one-point-niner
light years, north by northwest.

Stand by.
I'm kicking in the afterburners.

We're coming up on Dome-Down,
Lion-0, it's straight ahead.

Panthro, take over the controls.
Thunderkittens, Cheetara, follow me.

Wilykat, help.

LION-O:
Easy does it.

We don't want Two-Time
to know we're onboard.

What's this? I'm getting
a blurred image on the bottom monitor.

Something must be blocking it.

I'd better deploy a telescope camera
to make sure nothing is shadowing me.

[WHIMPERING]

LION-O:
Snarf? Snarfer? Are you here?

[YELLS]

-Lion-O, you scared me.
-Shh. Quiet.

What was that? I thought
I heard something from Cats' Lair.

There's something down there,
all right.

The Feliner!

Then those felines
have climbed up inside Cats' Lair.

Thundercats, show yourselves
or face the consequences.

You're the one who'll face
consequences, Two-Time.

LION-O: The Feliner is standing by
to take you in tow.

If I pull this lever,
it will release Cats' Lair...

...and drop it right on top
of the Feliner.

Then goodbye
Thundercats and Cats' Lair.

Do that,
and you'll be in serious trouble.

Me? You're the ones in trouble.

I warn you, don't touch that lever.

You, warn me?

No!

[SCREAMING]

Now, you've made me mad.

Thundercats, h*!

I surrender nothing.

[GROANING]

Well, well.

[CHUCKLES]

Did you forget
about my little reverse gravity fields?

So this is the famous
Sword of Omens...

...that works magic
for the Thundercats.

What will it do for me?

I warn you, Two-Time,
do not touch that sword.

You warned me before
and look what became of it.

See, nothing happened.

Now, sword, are you ready to strike?

h*!

What--? What is it?

What--? What are you doing? Stop!

I can't let go.
My hands are frozen on the grip.

Help!

Somebody, please stop this.

Sword of Omens, release him.

[SCREAMS]

Well, Lion-O, you did tell
the Sword of Omens to let him go.

He just happened to be
on an upward swing at the time.

That's right.
It wasn't the sword's fault.

All right.

Contact Panthro
that we've gained our objective.

We're taking our home home.

WILYKAT: Boy, what a relief
to have Cats' Lair back.

I'll say. I mean, that's our home.

What happens now?
Do we destroy Dome-Down?

I was in favor of that,
but Lion-O had a better idea.

Two-Time was ripping up
the environment...

...for his own greedy reasons:

to sell it off to the highest bidder.

He didn't know it,
but he really had a good idea.

Why not use Dome-Down to move
abundant top soil to needy farmers...

...or lakes to areas
where they need water?

That's a great idea.

That way, we can help balance
the food chain...

...and stock wildlife and forests.

Hey, I got an idea too.

How about moving
some of that stuff to Cats' Lair?

-Like what?
-Well....

Let's start with a swimming pond,
nothing fancy.

Just, say, big enough for a raft
and maybe a swan robot.

Yeah. And how about
an astrotennis court while we're at it.

[LAUGHS]

I don't believe you two.

Next, you'll want a laser bowling alley
and a fly-in movie.

Great. Can you fix it?

Don't be ridiculous.
Our job here is a serious one.

We don't have time for luxuries.

Panthro's right, we get enough exercise
without those things.

Well, maybe a space golf course...

...might be good to help us unwind.

Yeah, I suppose we'll be caddies.

[LAUGHING]
