With just hours before Halloween Eve
starts in earnest,
the Ghostbusters are,
fittingly enough, on the job.
Oh, no, you don't.
Boy, this is tougher than I thought.
Have to catch my breath.
[Peter] Hey, Winston, what's small
and hairy and green all over?
This is no time for jokes, Peter.
Who's joking?
[growling]
This is one of the many hauntings
that have hit the city
as Halloween approaches.
Coincidence? Some aren't so sure.
This particular job
was described by spokesman
Dr. Peter Venkman as,
"A minor job, a piece of cake,
no problem at all."
A piece of cake, Dr. Venkman?
I never said that.
Even if I said it, I never said it.
[Peter] I think we've seen that
at least three times
more than we had to, Ray.
-[Winston] I don't like it.
-[Peter] Me either.
I always look terrible on TV.
No, that's not what I mean.
It shouldn't have been that hard a job.
But we had to fight like crazy
to get those things contained.
Right, Egon?
[Egon] Mmm-hmm.
[Ray] It seems like
the closer we get to Halloween,
the more cases we get,
each tougher than the last.
Interesting, huh, Egon?
Mmm-hmm.
Shh. Egon's working.
We wouldn't wanna

-Egon, old buddy!

I was just working out the last details.

[Peter] Who says blackmail's a lost art?
PKE readings have been increasing
all month across the city,
but they took a real jump
when some ancient ruins from
Ireland arrived two weeks ago.
The ruins date from the seventh century.
Seventh-century Ireland.
That's where Halloween started.
[Winston] I didn't even know
Halloween was that old.
Sure.
It marked the transition to a time
when the nights got longer, scarier.
[Egon] The Irish and Scottish immigrants
brought it to America,
where we called it Halloween.
[Peter] That's utterly fascinating, Egon.
But what's the point?
Those relics brought here from Ireland
go back to when Halloween started.
What if Halloween is based on something
that really happened long ago?
I keep wondering if those ruins,
and Halloween itself,
is the reason why everything's
been going wrong lately.
[Winston] Maybe we ought to
check those ruins out.
Keep them under lock and key
till Halloween's over.
You're kidding, right?
What can some relics

[gibbering]

Maybe Janine was mistaken.

the trees at Christmas?

-Peter, it's not Christmas.

[Peter] Uh. Then we're in

[ghosts gibbering]
[Samhain] My little ones,
it is time at last.

that Halloween never ends.
That from this moment on,
the world shall know only eternal night.
[gasps]

[Samhain] You disappoint me.
But no matter.
Night without end is coming,
and you will join my midnight army
or pay the price.
[growls]
[people screaming]

Scientists report a dark cloud
covering nation after nation.

to celebrate night's creatures.
Two, suddenly, we're up
to our hips in them.
Three, night's falling everywhere.
Four, time is slowing down.
Conclusion, it'll be Halloween forever.
This night will never end.
Actually, I think I liked
not knowing a lot better.

[gibbering]

as the Feast of Samhain.
Samhain was supposed to be
a creature of night,
who no one could stop.

It is good to know I am remembered.

for so many centuries.

out of the house
for the first time in 1200 years.
You want a little excitement.

The whole city's blacked out.
At least our power packs
are still working.

but I need a distraction.

that I'm not gonna enjoy this at all?
[Winston] I just hope Egon
knows what he's doing.

[ghost gibbers]

It'll wait for its chance to come again.

[gibbering]
