to people lining the streets

seeing one of their own

comfortable with the role.

about who leads the pageant

without considering everyone.

But as one of the organizers,

The winner of the eventing medal in

was a Rosemary Cross.

She was a senior at the pony club

when I was just starting out.

I think her family left the district

We weren't far from home when her--

her leg went into an old mine shaft.

She just laid there...

and I stroked her head...

until she went cold...

and still.

The search party found me a little bit later.

Accidents happen.

I decided then and there that I would never ride again.

And to this day, I haven't.

Smokey would have been a champion horse if I--
