Nobody stands a chance
against us at Soakchella this year.

Yeah, especially since I built this
mega-wicked water balloon launcher.

It can throw water balloons
approximately super-duper far.

And I designed shields
to stop water attacks,

so we don't get wet.

Good thinking, Iggy.

To make sure other people get wet,
I made sneaky fake flowers

that squirt water
when I press this button.

-Shield up!
-[all laugh]

Tricky! And for my first Soakchella,

I programmed Calypso
to deliver water balloons

so we'll never run out.

Calypso, water balloon.

-[whimpers]
-Oh, man. That's not a water balloon.

Must be a bug in his programming.

I gotta fix that.

Well, well, if it isn't the kids
with their little water gadgets.

-Little?!
-Huh?

These are cute, but they won't
work against me and my friends.

-Our water-fighting skills are advanced.
-Bring it, Big A!

-Betcha we'll water-whomp you first.
-Ha! Good luck with that.

See you on the water-field.

Soakchella sounds like
the most epic video game ever,

but real life.

My old town didn't
have anything like this.

Well, get ready for a wet and wild
water bonanza, Benny B.!

Yeah, everybody loves Soakchella,

even the grown-ups.

The street is full of people
throwing water, squirting water,

dumping water, launching water.

It's chaos, and I love chaos.

It's the best!

Come on. Let's see
if my parents are ready.

[both] Oh, no.

What's wrong?

This is Cherry Chen,
delivering some devastatingly dry news.

This year, Soakchella is… cancelled.

-No!
-What?

-Please, no.
-Is she serious?

Blue River is deep in a dreadful drought

because we haven't
gotten much rain this year.

She's right.

My dad has a tool that measures rain,

and he says we've
only gotten a few inches.

So we can't waste
precious water on a water fight,

no matter how thrilling it is.

So, call in later
to my Wonderful World of Weather show

-But Soakchella can't be cancelled!

We've been waiting a whole year for it.

And I've been talking a huge game.
I've gotta prove I can back it up.

I won't become a Soakchella pro player
like you guys this year.

This stinks like rotten eggs.

I'm not letting
this water fight get cancelled.

We'll solve this drought problem
with science.

-Oh, yeah!
-That's my baby girl.

Hopefully we're not
having an idea drought.

-We need to brainstorm.
-Let's do it!

I'm getting an idea download.

We can use drones
to scoop water from the ocean,

then drop it on the town.

I like it, but what if the drones
accidentally pick up fishies too?

[all gasp, exclaim in disgust]

-[laughs]
-[sighs]

[yelps, crashes]

-Fish belong in the ocean, not on my head.
-[all laugh]

Maybe instead, we can
design a super long tube

to bring snow
from Mount Everest to Blue River,

it would melt
and turn into water along the way.

I don't know.

It wouldn't be nice to steal snow
from the people who live there.

Or the Yetis that live there.

Oops, didn't think about that.

I've got an idea! In some places,
there's water deep underground.

So, if we drill into the Earth
with a gigantic unicorn horn,

maybe we'll find some.

You can't drill into the Earth
with a unicorn horn. [blows raspberry]

True. Their horns are so powerful,

they might drill
to the other side of the planet.

What about you, Arthur? Any ideas?

Nothing. I mean, I'm good at magic tricks,

but even I don't know
how to magically make it rain.

Wait, if we figure out how rain is made,

maybe we can make some
and end the drought.

Say hello to…

the Rainmaker!

This simulates the water cycle
so it'll show us how rain is made.

-[Arthur] Cool!
-Fab-tastic!

-Neat.
-Next level.

According to my notes,
there are four stages of the water cycle.

The first is evaporation.

That's when the sun heats water
and it turns into gas.

-Right?
-Exactly. Also known as water vapor.

Check it out.

-[machine whirring]
-[gasps] The water went invisible.

-Incredible!
-Mind. Blown.

Next, there's condensation.

That's when water vapor
turns back into a liquid.

-It's how clouds are made.
-I love the cloud.

It can store so much data.

Huh?

Oh. [chuckles]

You mean clouds in the sky.
Got you. Those are cool too.

-[all laugh]
-Yep, then there's precipitation.

-Princess-petition! Love it!

Plus, I love dancing in it.

-Boogie-woogie!

-Dance time!
-Break it down!

-[kids laughing]
-Oh, kids.

That does look kinda fun, though.

[scatting]

[laughing and dancing grunts continue]

So, what's level four
of the water cycle, Ada?

The fourth stage is collection.

That's when rain fills up
the ocean, lakes, and rivers.

Okay, I think I understand
the water cycle now,

but we can't make it rain on our own.

Iggy's right.

[sighs] Rain happens naturally,
we can't just make it whenever we want.

Hmm. Maybe we need to figure out
why a drought happens in the first place.

Then we might be able to fix it.

Hello! You're on Cherry Chen's
Wonderful World of Weather show.

What quizzifying question do you have?

Wait a minute. Is that Quizzy Peck
and his inquisitive friends?

-Hi, Miss Cherry.
-Howdy!

We were wondering,
how do you fix a drought really fast?

Quiz-tastic question.

But I'm afraid the answer is, you can't.

-[all sigh]
-I know, not a fun answer.

Rain clouds bring us water,
but if the wind whisks them away,

we won't get rain,
and it can cause a drought.

But droughts also happen

because climate change's making our planet
a lot warmer in some areas.

Like Blue River, for instance.
I encourage my viewers to go outside,

and see for yourselves
just how dry our town looks.

Aw, troubleshoot. Cherry Chen was right.
The creek barely has any water.

And the grass is yellow
like an old tennis ball,

not bright green like usual.

[sniffs] Yeah, even my nose can
tell the soil's really dry,

because dry dirt always makes me…

[sneezes]

…sneeze.

-Gesundheit, kiddo.
-Dad! Hi! [grunts]

-Hi, Mister Peck.
-Hi, Mister P.

-What are you doing?
-Giving a drink to these plants.

I rationed water for 'em
so they don't die.

Ration?

Hmm…

Oh! That's when you use a little bit
of something so it lasts longer.

-Right?
-You got it!

Rationing conserves resources like water,
which is important in a drought.

Yeah, we should be saving water right now.

[sighs] I guess there is no fixing
this drought problem.

So cancelling the water fight
was the right thing to do.

Yeah. Sorry, kiddos. I'm as bummed as you.

-Soakchella is the coolest!
-[giggles]

-[Rosie] Aw, boo!
-That is not the business.

Guess I have to delete my hopes and dreams
of playing in Soakchella this year.

Too bad we can't have a water fight
without wasting water.

-Wait, maybe we can.
-[Arthur] Huh?

Isn't the point of a water fight
to get super soaked?

No, it's to have fun, silly.

But if there's a way to have
a water fight without wasting water,

the Green Team can find it.

Maybe we could engineer water fight gear
that gets us wet but doesn't waste water.

Yeah, and we could have Soakella
in the park instead of the streets.

So the water'd fall
on the plants like rain.

Then we could ask my dad
to use the water he has for the flowers.

I think we have our plan.
Let's get back in the lab.

Because sponges soak up water,
they won't waste as much as balloons do.

[upbeat music playing]

[barking]

This is Cherry Chen
with some splashy news.

Soakchella is uncancelled!

[crowd cheering]

And we have our very own
Green Team to thank.

Droughts can't stop these clever kiddos.

They found a way to make
Soakchella happen while conserving water.

Now, who's ready for a water fight?
