- Hello, one and all
And welcome back to another
thrilling episode of
Pirates of Leviathan.
I am your humble Dungeon
Master, Brennan Lee Mulligan
With me as always are Buccaneer Buddies
say hi buccaneer buddies.
- Hi!
Hi Buccaneer Buddies.
- Hi. Hi Buccaneer Buddies.
- Take it back.
- He nailed it.
g*ng...
Last, we left off,
our piratical pals.
They were stalking into the Sternwood.
After blowing, this case,
wide open.
With a show of force outside
of Jack Brakkow's domicile,
in the neighborhood of the Bilge
And with a trip up to the
surface in the neighborhood of
Aftward to infiltrate and do
some recon in the Crescent
Moon Trading Company.
We found out all the pieces
of this vast net that tied
together.
And as Sunny learned from
her goddess, Jane Wren,
the net is closing fast.
Thanks to some extremely rapid
persuasion of a huge fan.
By one Ms. Bob
of her
superfan Grover LeForge,
the gnomish clerk of the trading company,
Marcid was able to pop in and
grab a number of documents,
indicating that all of
these various magical items,
the infernal lamps being
created at Bowser's Foundry.
The daughter of storms,
this recovered piece of a
statue.
That has deific artifact,
level significance, that
she had found that morning,
that was expected to be found.
If you remember by Langley
Sheffield-Harrington
and Clive Mardres.
This...
Artifact got recovered and was bought,
but quickly stolen, back by young Cheese,
who made it all the
way to Jack's domicile.
To be discovered by Myrtle the cleric of -
a cleric of Umberlee, goddess of the deep.
Who along with Sunny,
Bob discovered Cheese,
Marcid and Jack all in the Bilge together.
Where they arrived
as a crew
after discovering
this massive
conspiracy, having to do with
artifacts, control of storms,
these infernal lamps, a
captured tiefling showgirl
and a great of deal of
insurance paperwork.
With many threads coming together.
Yeah, that's right. I did
a bunch of insurance stuff,
in the pirate game.
You God damn right!
Is it a statement?
You tell me!
- Like when you were like the
bad guys are insurance people,
I was like, "I'm in."
Yeah, no, I've completely,
I've completely accepted
this narrative. Yup.
- You have arrived at The
Sternwood, following Marcid's lead.
To discover the location, to which Trixie,
the captured tiefling has been taken.
Sternwood is a massive cursed forest.
It is a druidic,
blight,
back on
the
surface of
Leviathan created by
captured druids, long ago.
These druids, some say,
that many of them having
created the forest.
Were like, "Great. I proved my point.
"I'm going back to wherever I'm from."
Others were like," No, I'm
going to stay in this forest and
"keep it cursed and haunted to teach
these pirates a lesson."
It is dangerous place
within The Sternwood.
And as the six of you walk
Marcid leading the way,
Pass without trace.
I think, what's the time
limit on pass without trace?
- An hour, so you, you
tell me if, if, if you know,
if it's taken us more
than an hour to get here,
otherwise it's an hour.
- I'm going to say, go ahead.
Just give me a flat luck check.
Try to beat a 15 or higher on a D20.
- I will say I'm going
to... I got a big old one.
So right when I step in,
I'm all like, "I'm silent.
"I'm death."
- So pass without trace is no more.
You're welcome to cast
it again if you'd like,
but...
- I need a short rest.
- I'm like,"So we need to talk."
But I'm like,"Before the
tyrannosaur comes rampaging
out of the forest, I'm
like,"I am out with time.
Time, time, time, time.
And just a minute.
- Yeah. Are you still a little,
you know,
how's that head wounds
that you have there?
Are you okay? Are you
feeling a little rough?
- I very much like curl by lips
back so I can show my fangs.
And I'm a, like,
"It was a well struck blow.
"paladin."
- He called me a paladin!
Oh!
Oh my God.
Best day. Best day.
- All of you.
So...
Marcid, knowing the
time is of the essence,
but you do need this rest.
It is, it is up to all of
you to, to make a decision.
I would say that you probably
feel that time is pretty
pressing with the storms closing in.
Perhaps this will just be
an indication of great care
needing to be taken.
As you advanced into The Sternwood,
you see the bizarre nature
of the roots of these trees,
where... These trees don't grow
naturally from any sort of
dirt? Because Leviathan
is an artificial city.
Instead,
the decks of these ships were
for lack of a better word,
resurrected.
The Druids called upon
the spirits of the trees
that had been cut down to
make these ships and brought
them back to violent, angry life,
as they ripped Leviathan asunder.
And now this forest exists.
The vibe you get from these
trees is not only one of menace,
but one of their branches
exploding outwards,
like every tree was giving
a big double middle finger
to the entire city around it.
The malevolence is not
necessarily a sinister one,
but rather one that is
rowdy and
aggressive.
And in so being rowdy and aggressive,
weirdly conforms to the vibe of the city.
It's another rowdy neighborhood
in this pirate metropolis,
Myrtle, you feel right at home here.
- I want to start like rifling
through the like deeds and
paperwork that Marcid has.
Like, if there's one for here,
I'm going to...
This is great and I like it.
- When we were down there, when Cheese...
I saw Cheese turn invisible.
the night, he said he cast
was it "Waldo"? Was that...
- Control-alt-delete.
- But I saw him do it, right?
- Yes you did.
- I do like plop down on,
on one of these routes.
And I'm like," Oh, aye Cheese,
question for you lad,
" You saw what they did to Trixie?
" I myself can't make hide or hair of it,
"but they took something from...
"You seem like a magical soul.
"You got anything in your...
"Binder there about that."
- About what, what they took from her?
- Or what they did at all.
She like licked her or
something and then spit fire.
- Can I...
There wouldn't be anything in my binder,
but can I roll an arcana and see if it...
- Rolling in arcana with disadvantage,
- Okay.
- Because you're not present
with the phenomenon that you're
trying to study.
If you were able to get
your hands on either the,
the magical items they were using,
that dagger that that woman used,
or even to see Trixie in person again,
you would probably be
able to re-roll without,
a disadvantage.
- Can I try a disadvantage?
Cause even though I am not
a wizard, I seen stuff.
I've been places.
- Yeah. Go for it.
- Six and a six. All right.
- But 18.
I rolled a 17 and an 18, so I said, "18."
Yeah. I have a plus. I have a plus one.
- Gotcha.
You're looking through
your trapper keeper,
for anything.
All of your stuff is like how
to do cool little wards and
glyphs and charms. You
don't have any dark magic,
like steal, some,
like sh**t your tongue into
someone's neck and hurt them.
And... But Marcid, as
you're looking over...
As you're looking over Cheese's shoulder,
you see the page and
kind like, like, like...
Stop for a moment.
- Oh, this right here.
No, I've seen something like this before.
- There's a tiny scrap of
infernal writing on this.
You realize that there's a
connection between lamps and all
this, those weird giant copper
tubes are like these giant
industrial magic Arcana
industrial lamps. Right?
The object that they found in
Trixie's boudoir
was a
small version of a similarly
like mass produced,
magical item. The small lamp.
The one that was in Trixie's
room was all about enchantment
probably was used to kidnap her.
But...
It dawns on you that there's
something about all this,
which is infernal. You keep
seeing in infernal, infernal,
infernal. But none of the people you've...
Like, like, like all people
you work with are elves
or half elves. Right?
Some humans and things like that.
So you're not sure where all
of this infernal stuff is
coming from or what it's
necessarily all about or relates
to.
You would guess though,
that of the things that could
have happened to Trixie it
seems less and less likely
that something of the natural
world happened. She was poisoned.
She was concussed or something like that.
You're guessing something
more foul probably happened.
- To be clear.
Bob has not told Marcid to set
in front of him that a rich
man came to visit her. Right.
I don't think, I don't
think I was there for that.
I don't think that's
information I possess.
- I don't think you
were there for that as well.
- Yeah. Alright.
Myrtle, love.
You by chance.
Have any skill in the...
infernal.
- The language or the arts?
The latter.
- I... What little I can figure out.
I sort of like point at
the, at the runes, I'm like,
"Cheese, you were close lad
this'll probably make more sense
"later,
but look..."
And I'm like," Like the scrim I'm like,
"I saw something similar."
And basically like recount to
her what, what I think I know,
on the off chance that triggers anything
in her mind.
- Yeah. Can I, can I make a rule about it?
- Yeah, you can
do arcana or religion.
- Sweet. Let's
go religion this time.
Okay.
15...
- 15.
You look at it. Umberlee, you know,
trains her clerics in the
ways of the different infernal
realms.
You know, that you could
figure out what's happening.
If you saw this woman.
You've... If you saw,
either the nature of the
lewd or how she was behaving,
you'd be able to tell more.
But I think on a 15,
you also can intuit from looking at this.
Just some of the infernal stuff,
that's here and looking at
it on the lamp that you have.
A lot of work and hustle
is going into all this.
This is like a lot of work
for something like k*lling a
person.
like damn, there's gunpowder on this city.
You could like blow something
up if you wanted to.
So a lot of pain and hustle
was going into something
happening in a very specific way.
And it feels to you,
like pieces are being set up on a board
to maybe do a big piece of magic.
And when it comes to like
infernal magic on this scale,
usually one of two things is going on.
Someone's trying to move something
from somewhere outside of
the material world,
into the material world,
or take something in the
material world and move it to the
realms infernal.
And either way,
the power that those magical
effects usually run on our
are souls themselves.
- Yeah.
And I think Myrtle just kind
of sits there and gets lost in
thought and stops blinking
with her normal eyelids.
And it's just the nictating membrane
that kind of like goes a couple of times.
And then eventually she
like slowly turns and looks,
"Components.
"This is too big of magic for...
its component.
"They're components - that
spacing - for something big,
"bringing something here
or taking something away.
- Hey Miss Bob, you mentioned
that Trixie was a tiefling.
Yeah.
The horns and whatnot.
- Yeah. But she didn't
always wear them out
It was kind of one of those
things where she hit off a bit.
She has a little bit of magic, but yes,
she was a tiefling.
IS a tiefling. Not a WAS. She's a IS.
- She would try and hide that
she was a tiefling sometimes?
And she didn't want to know, to know?
- Yeah. Some people are really
not very nice to people.
They think of demons.
Cause they think demon
automatically means evil,
but she wasn't in the lead at
all. She was a bit of a mix,
but she's not evil.
- Yeah. I just wonder, you know,
maybe it's like she has this
kind of infernal blood or a
connection to that then maybe
that's why they need her.
Maybe she's also a
component of Myrtle's point.
- Yeah.
- Hey.
Marcid.
- Yeah.
- Do you know if your...
Your old crew, the Crescent Moon people,
do you know if they were like
kidnapping other tieflings.
- I do think there's
more than one person somewhere
in these woods.
Have... I have
- You think we're gonna find
like a whole bunch of abducted tieflings.
How crazy would that be? We'd be heroes!
- I do look at Bob and
I say, "Whatever. I,
"we saw what happened to
Trixie. She was still alive,
"when last I laid eyes on her."
- As you all continue
to move through the forest
Marcid sort of proudly leading the way,
Jack and Sunny and Cheese and also Bob,
just still in a full sequined gown,
treading through a cursed
forest. Looking incredible.
You already,
I'm going to ask for a
group investigation check.
I'm going to ask for a group message.
- So question.
Sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt.
Humanoids are my favored prey.
I have like significant
bonuses for tracking them.
- Cool. So you're going to
roll, you roll with advantage.
Yes.
- Okay.
Alright.
- Dirty 20
- Natural 20...
- Oh my God.
- Yeah.
- 25
- 11.
- A big old 15.
A big old 15.
- And for Jack?
- At 21 I rolled a natural 17.
- Oh my God. These, these are...
What is, Myrtle's adjusted 20,
by the way?
- 22.
- 22 that's Scooby-Doo GIF
where they all fan out,
they're looking at the ground.
- Straight up.
- Okay. This is,
this is a wildly better roll
than I was anticipating.
Well done. Everyone.
As you're moving through the woods,
you're passing through a
dangerous area of The Sternwood.
On this roll where you guys
actually kind of average like
at, or above 20,
there is an area in The
Sternwood not far from here where
you can see some smoke rising, not a lot,
just a little bit as
though from a chimney.
So there is a place nearby
where there's clearly
some kind of civilization.
And potentially a place for
you guys to like maybe heal up
or ask them what they
see in anything anywhere.
However, you guys also could bypass that.
There are tracks moving
directly through here,
that you recognize as boot tracks,
Marcid...
Humanoid to your favorite enemy.
These are Elven and
half Elven boot prints,
leading off, deeper into The Sternwood
- I look at the tracks?
And I'm like," Yeah, I'm
not going to be much good.
"And a scrap until I have the
minute to collect myself."
- I can heal you just a
little bit if you need to.
But I think we need to keep
moving. The net is closing.
That's what Jane told me.
- I like to think you tell me.
I like to think that I probably
have been here before I am a
ranger and this place is
spooky and I'm a gloomstalker.
Do I have any idea what that place is?
- That place is?
You're guessing it's probably
just a Druid's shack or
something to that effect.
You might actually be bypassing
a hazard by avoiding that
place. All things considered.
- If I know that I'll stick on
the I'll stay on the trail of
the, of the tracks then.
- Hell yeah.
- You need like a little, a
little, a little refresher.
Do you need a water? Do you
need, how are you feeling bud?
- Save it. If I
get knocked out again,
but thank you Sunny.
- As all of you continue to make your way?
I'm going to need now
a group stealth check.
- Oh, okay.
- A disadvantage.
- Nine.
- No, we don't currently
have passed it out trace.
- Six, I got a six.
- 16
- 14
- Oops
- 24.
- I heard 14, 16, 24.
- I got a 15.
- 15.
Okay, great.
Incredible.
Okay.
How are you guys?
What is the order that you're
all approaching and as you
move through the, through
the forest through
The Sternwood?
- I assume I'm in the front,
if I'm following the tracks.
- Yes, that is correct.
- I think I'll be taking
the caboose cause you know,
have my eyes peeled to make
sure we're not being followed
with my passive perception of nine.
- Okay.
- I'll be in front of Bob
wherever Bob decides to be.
- All right?
- Yeah. Where are you going to be Bob?
- I was gonna say that I'm
going to be wherever you are.
cause I really enjoying getting
to spend some time with you
outside of the murky water.
- Okay. We're in the middle.
- Girls in the middle.
- Yeah!
- Jesus a second from the last
like right in front of Jack.
Cool.
- I'll be right behind Marcid.
- Cool.
You all prowl through the dark
Sternwood still gray light
coming in through the storm clouds.
The rain has not reached you yet,
but the thunder is in the distance.
You arrive to the edge of the treeline and
I'm going to describe what you see.
But the first thing that
happens is what you hear,
which is a shout in a
commanding military voice going,
"Intruders, the forest
line, this movement!
"Men fall out!"
Your position has been given
away almost before you have
arrived here.
A number of factors,
could it be anything from the
giant bubbling sphere of water
propelling, Myrtle
forward through the air,
to the beautiful glittering
sequence of Bob's lounge, singer
gown.
But you move...
As you are at the treeline,
What you see before you
is a vast
bowl of
tangled roots, creating
a clearing in the forest.
The tangle of the roots
looks almost liquid,
but frozen in place.
Like when you see volcanic rock
that has solidified in that
frozen,
mid flow pattern of these roots
intermingling and going down
into the basin of clear
rainwater at the bottom,
from which these trees drink.
Surrounding the basin,
which is maybe about,
30 to 40 feet wide.
You see
perfectly separated around it,
are
15
bodies.
They are breathing shallowly, not dead.
You see,
there are a vast array of people here.
There is a tiny little bearded old man.
There is a sort of up and
coming dashing looking merchant.
There are a number...
There is a like sort of a warm
faced apron wearing matronly
woman. Who looks very sweet.
All 15 of them
are deep reds,
some bright blues,
some purples.
These are tieflings of varying ages,
from all across the different
neighborhoods of Leviathan.
Some from Aftwards,
some from Riggaba,
some from Cannon Court and
all over various walks of life
and professions, but they
are all gathered here.
And on the far side of the
Lake, Bob, you see Trixie.
All of them are submerged such
that their legs are in the
water and their torsos are
spread they're on their backs,
gazing up at the sky.
Surrounding that, this area you guys see,
there are probably about two
dozen armed musket wielding
guards,
naval guards.
And on the side of the
Lake nearest to you,
you see that there is an altar.
The altar has been set up
with a number of lit candles.
There are, there's an open scroll on it,
as well as
a blazing red
clearly magical Ruby bell,
a hand bell with a like rot
redwood handle coming up off of
it.
As the shouting starts,
the group of people
assembled turned around.
So
about a dozen of these
soldiers are near you.
The others are scattered
off to like the far woodline
patrolling the edges of the clearing,
are not immediate threats.
But those,
there are 12 surrounding the
three people at the alter.
The cloaked woman who turns around she's.
This is the woman that you saw
before that took Trixie here.
Her, she is an elvin woman.
Her face gaunt none, no
elvin vitality to her face,
gaunt eyes sunken
with a
hot red series
of scars across her
face marked like bolts of lightning.
Sides of her head are shaved
and a coarse gray flop of hair
covers one of her eyes.
Next to her is Monsieur
Langley Sheffield Harrington,
and the man that Marcid, you
know, as Leftenant Mardres.
Jack, standing in front of you,
in naval dress
is Clive Mcdoon.
Alive and breathing though,
he dresses differently your first mate.
- When I see all of this,
I just there from the tree line,
especially when they're
like, Oh, we're giving away.
And I heard them all stumping
and crashing through here.
Anyway.
I just look up and I
just go," Oh, I see, ah,
"I'm back with what you
asked me to retrieve."
And I just go stomping
out of the trees like,
" Sorry for the commotion."
- Oh my God.
I'm going to need the,
the, the deception rolls...
Of all deceptive rolls right now.
- []Yeah No sh*t.
- Yeah. And I, this is gonna be...
I I'm going to let
Marcid stand on its own,
but I will also need a group
deception check from the other
five of you.
And I'm going to roll.
I'm going to roll three
insight polls to the three main
captains right now.
And I'm going to let you
know what the highest one is.
We need three out of
five of you to beat this.
Re-dice...
- 14
- 18, it's not terrible.
It's not terrible.
- 12 for Sunny.
- What did Jack
get for on that deception?
- Eight.
- Myrtle?
- 21.
- Just so you guys are k*lling me.
You're giving away our
position. You're giving away.
- Bob. Bob, what
did you get on your deception?
- 30.
- Oh my God.
- The lesson is great.
- I just here to do a
performance for the troops.
- I'm going to say that Bob's incredible.
30 covers you for a minute.
But I think the shock like
Sunny, Cheese, Jack are like,
are you guys are Myrtle's
keeping it together.
But the three of you are not Marcid.
You step out.
You see that, Langley Sheffield,
Harrington looks at you
and goes,
" Marcid. My goodness,
You've found us here
"in The Sternwood. I didn't
even, did I leave directions,
for you?
- Oh you didn't need to.
I told you no man can escape
me when I want to find them.
- Ha ha ha fun.
Okay. And you see he looks around,
he looks around and goes.
He says, you see that, the, the woman
that intense spell caster turns over and
looked at him and says," Harrington."
And you see, he goes," Yes, I, Oh my God,
"Barbarella Sasparilla Gainglynn.
"Hi, what the hell is going on here?"
- I'm very much walking up
to them this entire time.
By the way, like, if nobody
shoots me, I just walk right up.
- Nope, nobody's sh**ting.
But you guys see, the other
soldiers are kind of closing,
closing in a little bit.
I'm gonna need,
I'm going to start with Bob.
What is Bob doing in this moment?
- "I want to do something so bad."
- Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it Bob.
- If not now when? Yes.
- " I'm just really,
really upset because I see,
that they've got Trixie and it
just makes me upset because
why would you take my friend?
You know, it's not really
a nice thing to do,
especially when she's just
minding the business and doing a
job. I was just really, really excited.
And I just need to know if by chance
these guys are within 30 feet of me.
- You can, you can absolutely approach
and get within 30 feet of them.
Let me see what everyone else is doing.
And then we'll come back to
you and you do what you do.
As soon as you get within 30
feet of them for Myrtle also
rolled a high deception.
What's Myrtle up to right now.
- Myrtle is like,
she's kind of shielding the
stone and she keeps getting lost
upward at these storm clouds.
And I think anyone that's
close enough to hear her
at some point,
she just mumbles," My storm."
And I'm going to start
casting call lightning
and turning the storm into my storm.
- Hell yes.
Give me...
So that's so cool.
Yeah. Call lightning.
Oh, that's so cool.
You start casting call
lightning. Holding this stone.
This spell has never
come more easily to you.
And not only is it coming
very easily to you,
you hear a voice in your mind's
eye from the storm clouds.
It is the voice of an
angry old King going,
"Bring my daughter
back."
Go and give me slight of
hand with disadvantage.
- Yeah.
Okay.
A...
Nine.
- Nine, you are doing your
best to wrap the stone,
but with your like leather
belts around your body and this
large object,
the best you can do is just
kind of try to hide it behind
your own body.
And even then some is still peaking out,
- Okay.
- But you start to
approach Cheese and Sunny,
what are you two up to?
- Go Cheese.
- I think Cheese is in... Intensely scared.
He is in way over his head.
He's had all these moments of like,
"yeah, I could totally do this."
To like," Oh no, I can't do this at all."
"I don't know who these people are.
"What what's she doing
with her hand right now?
"This is..."
but you know what I mean?
"Like I am under qualified
for this position."
And he's just like...
Kinda like, holding and like
holding steady and staring
forward at like all this.
And he is prepared to go
invisible and hide and run,
as soon as whatever
these adults are doing,
they do.
- Incredible.
I assume Bob and Myrtle
are advancing behind Marcid
Right.
So they're calling on the lightning.
Bob's readying her spell
Sunny and she is...
- I think I'm staying near jack
- Okay.
- Like yeah.
- Cool.
Sunny, are you keeping pace with Bob
or what are you doing?
- I'm gonna kind of split the difference.
I'm gonna, I'm gonna to
let Bob do her thing.
Cause she's a strong,
independent woman and she knows
exactly what she's doing.
So I'm going to let her go ahead,
but I'm going to kind of follow just,
you know.
Maybe 10 or so feet behind
her and I'm going to say,
" BoB. So... Everybody,
"Barbarella Sasparilla is doing her thing.
"Everybody pay attention." A
And then...
Kind of gather everyone around.
But then my eyes are
looking at that ruby bell.
And I'm kind of just clocking it.
And I, you know, is it,
is it like hanging in the
tree? Is it a stationary bell?
- It is a small handbell
- Roughly 50 feet away from me?
- Is it...
- It is a stationary hand bell
on the alter, highly magical unattended.
- I am clocking that bell
super hard.
- Incredible.
- I've seen
enough fights at the Row
and the Ruction to know,
which ones happened to be the
most dangerous in times of
tension.
So I'm going to follow the
rest of the group as they make
their way towards the
center, trying to keep pace,
which is not hard for a barbarian to do...
Kind of off the side to Marcid,
keeping my way towards
that weird wicked looking
mage girl.
But also ensuring that McDoon
over there sees me as well.
- You see Clive McDoon
who is dressed up in his soldiers,
uniform, crisp and clean.
This two bit pirate
that you drank into
the gutter with night after
night is now dressed in his
Aftward airs.
And he's alive.
Jack. You are not the only
survivor of the wreck of the Late
Bloomer.
Clive
freezes.
As he sees you.
You, you see, he goes
to the, stock's still...
The...
The spell caster.
This sort of priestess leans
over again to Sheffield
Harrington and says," My Lord,
the ritual they've seen it."
"This is not..."
And you see that Langley
just looks over again at,
at Barbarella and goes like,
" Like I honestly can't...
"This is incredible. My goodness.
"Well, Marcid, are these people with you?
- So two important points
of clarification. One,
I never got my short risks. Correct?
- Right. You
never got your short rest.
- So Marcid, Is visibly badly
beaten, walking up to him.
Cause I'm at one third hit points.
When I get within
my arms reach,
which is 10 feet,
I lay into the wizard. I'm like,
"Oh, it was the strangest thing.
"I was just walking along and..."
Boom! just like full gloom stalker,
unload on her.
- Cool.
So here's what we're going to do.
Because your approaching,
but Bob's got an effect
going off at 30 feet.
The last thing that happens
as everyone is approaching is,
the, the woman leans
over to Langley and says,
"My Lord, he is injured.
"These are not his friends."
You see Langley says," What? Oh my lord,
"Marcid, you look miserable...
"Clive
"Clive maybe we want to...
"Clive. Hello?
"You look like you've seen a ghost."
Clive staring at Jackson's,
"Move I think I have."
Bob. You are within 30 feet.
Go off.
- So I start to make the
symbol and the egg, you know,
the symbol, my symbol,
nobody knows what it is.
It's just mine.
So I started to make my symbol
and I'm getting really upset
and they don't get upset very often.
So all of a sudden the ground underneath,
everyone around me starts to shake.
It just starts to go down a
little bit underneath all of the
bad guys that I don't really
like. They took my Trixie.
And I said," Do you like my symbol,
"I bet it makes you tremble.
"It's a thing for which
I have an affinity.
"I see you there 30 feet,
not too far from me.
"Enjoy the feeling of
my channel to infinity.
"So roll your charisma,
"or prepare for real fall.
"If you fail, I'm gonna
have to restrain you all."
And all of a sudden,
a pothole appears underneath
all of them and the ground just
disappeared underneath them.
I don't know how far down they go,
but if they don't succeed,
they're probably all going to
be restrained by all of the
wires coming out of the ground.
And you know, like the
roots from the tree,
they're gonna just ensnare all of them.
- Incredible.
We're going to resolve this,
but everybody, this is going.
So Bob's going to take the
surprise round for herself and
then we're going to all roll initiative.
- Yes.
- So everybody go ahead. Roll initiative.
- Win.
- Oh baby.
- Iconic.
- Oh, that's a rough initiative.
- To be clear, that was spirit
of the city channel divinity,
which allows me to do that.
Not just increasing my attack.
- Copy that. Awesome.
Each creature must make a charisma saving
throw, on a failed save
the creatures knocked prone or restrained.
Okay. So we're going to make a
roll for each of the kinds of
lieutenants and then we're
going make a roll for,
My goodness.
Okay, hold on.
Here we go.
Let's see what we get here.
And the DC on this is 15
for your cleric stuff.
So here's number one.
Clive Mcdoon is restrained.
- Gotcha Jack.
- Oh, he's so good at what you do doll.
- The spell caster is restrained.
Langley with his half elvin
quickness dodges out of the way.
Let's roll for these,
for these pirates here.
Of the 12 that are within 30 feet of you.
Only four out of 12 are unrestrained.
Incredible. Who got initiative above a 20?
- 25.
- Oh, here comes gloomstalker.
- Oh no.
- I want to have a word with that mage.
- Incredible.
25... Did any one else get above a 20?
Cool. I'm gonna get above 15,
- 19
- 16,
- 19.16. Anyone get above a 10?
- 10.
- 10 for Cheese,
anyone above a five?
- Awesome. What did Bob get?
- A nine.
- Nine... And sunny?
- Five.
- Five, oh no.
- The roots leap up almost
an applause for Bob's song.
Cool.
And grip around the ankles and
legs of those gathered here.
Marcid.
You are within shot of this mage,
go for it.
- So important point.
Cause, cause I wrote
some things here already.
She is in fact restrained, correct?
- She is restrained. Yeah.
- Which means I have advantage
on the attack. Correct?
- Absolutely
brutal. Yes, that's correct.
- So that makes the first attack,
which everybody knows is the best attack,
a natural 20.
- Shut up.
- Gonna take ya to church.
But a second question.
The lowest I rolled on any
of these attacks was a 23.
So is that enough to hit her?
- 23? Hold on.
She might have some shenanigans.
- Yeah, no, she's just
got some shenanigations.
I get it. No,
I'm ... going to lay at
least one of these on her,
but I mean, I don't know.
Cause I'm just going, give
you all the damage if,
if that's enough, you let me know.
- No that hits her. That hits
her armor class for sure.
- Okay. All right.
Just is,
I walk up in the pit opens.
I'm just like Hunter's Mark.
So
yeah.
You know that's I think that's
that's enough dice there.
- Get em.
- So I get her for...
24. 48 on the first hit.
- Good God!
- Oh.
- Alison you're trident
speaks to you. It says,
it says," Be careful. It
seems we're all being almost
" too successful.
" Its gone to our heads."
- I'm like, I'm like,
" I believe there's plenty of failure
"to go around today love."
And then on the second hit,
which does not do as much
damage, second hit is just 10.
So I guess 58 total.
- Oh my God.
So I will describe Marcid.
What you see occur before you,
58 damage overall, right?
You go to plunge
Alison
into the stomach of this woman
as you, right?
You see her, see you coming
immediately know the jig is up.
Marcid onto us. Oh no.
You feel a thunk
as your
try to goes and catches
her badly.
And you're going to finish
her off with the yklwa
in your other hand.
And as that comes around,
she goes momentarily.
incorporeal in a crack of thunder.
As the spirit moves through her,
she turns briefly into raw storm cloud.
- And...
- f*ck.
She attempts to do something
to like electrocute you through
her own body. But you got a coral spear,
which is not as conductive as
metal and saves the day of...
This person is powerful enough
that they are arguably not as
close to humanoid as they once were.
This person has made some
deals with some beings.
But blood pours out of her
mouth as she looks at you and
goes," I speak for the storms,
"k*ll me
" and I come back on the wind."
And her eyes crackled with lightning.
- When she said that I just
look at her and let's go,
" All right."
- Awesome Marcid and
anything else from you?
- No, I expect this bet
to go poorly, but yeah, no,
that's that's it for me.
I'm just trying to be all over this lady.
- Hell yeah.
She...
Here's the thing.
This looks like a person
who walks through her day
invincible and regardless of
her attempt to intimidate you,
the look in her eyes is not one
of a cat playing with a toy.
The look in her eyes is
one of, we need to rapidly
improvise how we are going to
address the fact that I just
took 58 points damage.
- Yeah.
- You see that Our good friend,
our good friend Langley
is going to rush forward.
He's also going to make
a perception check.
- Actually and
tell me if we, if we've,
if we've gone too far here, I understand.
I made a mistake.
I actually hit her when, I
didn't give you the damage of the
30th.
- Oh.
- Cause I hit her three times,
My first gloom stalker round.
Sorry.
My bonus gloom stalkerisation,
although this will not be
as big of a hit though.
13.
So my 58
became
68, 72.
- Okay. Right.
- No that's too many
numbers. No that's yeah.
- Math.
- That's I can math. I
can math. Another 13.
Yes.
- Okay.
So the first thing is...
So Langley,
is not restrained.
Langley looks around,
looks at you and goes,
" Myrtle."
You see that he sees the
stone that you are holding.
He's going to take a swing on
Marcid just for good measure
as he does so,
is 17, which exactly hits.
- Yup.
And Marcid,
you are going to take,
Ooh.
- Yes.
- You take 24 points of damage.
- Down again.
- So Marcid, you stab this woman.
Langley sees how injured
they are and mostly sees his
soldiers are all f*cked
by Bob's spell. He goes,
"Marcid, you would doing so well."
And puts his rapier in a
flash through your stomach.
And you see it erupts out of your stomach.
You collapse to the ground.
He turns rushes you Myrtle.
He is going to make some
attacks against you.
The first one is actually
going to be an athletics check.
I need you to make an oppose
athletics check. Okay?
Okay. Okay.
- Please roll. Well.
Oh, I did not...
Eight.
- On a Nat 20,
Langley rushes up. You see, he says,
"Generally speaking, when
a transaction is made,
"one retains possession of
the purchased commodities."
He slaps the stone out of your hands
and is going to make another attack,
hits and is going to deal
Myrtle eight,
11,
11 plus
five
is a deal.
16 points of damage to Myrtle.
- Okay. As a reaction,
I'm going to use wrap the
storm and he needs to make a
dexterity saving throw against 16.
- Ooh,
- I don't like being touched.
- He fails.
- All right, let me roll my damage.
He's going to take,
15 points of
let's call it
lightening damage.
We have fun.
- You see snatches the
stone. And as he stabs
with his rapier,
you just full electric eel. He goes,
"Can't say it's been a pleasure."
And...
He
charges
back
towards
the
woman's storm caster.
You see, he calls her and
says," Alamaria, I think,
" I think this is maybe a wash.
" We seem to have been discovered."
Rushes forward, Myrtle. You
are next in the initiative.
- Sweet.
- And Myrtle's voice.
I think kind of just rumbles
out in a low like thundery,
" We weren't done yet."
And I'm going to call lightning on him.
So another deck save.
Please. And thank you.
And I did...
I have it, I have the w*r caster feat,
So I was able to hold my concentration.
- Copy. Cool.Cool. Cool.
He fails his deck save again.
- All right. Oh,
let's put some extra on it.
So this is four d 10 because
I'm in an area where a storm
was already starting.
And I'm gonna use my channel divinity.
I'm gonna give Bob a little wink.
That's a great idea.
And we're going to use a, what is it?
I want to say the thing, right.
- With the snake on it.?
- Yeah.
We're going to use destructive wrath.
So I'm just going to do max damage.
So all 40 points of lightning.
- You see Langley as bounding,
bounding over to, to the storm caster...
Is...
Bounding over to Alamaria and you see,
he goes, goes,
" I really think we'd better pick up."
You see, as the lightning strikes,
the lightning particularly
wraps around the stone and you
see his arm jerk up.
Like the lightning was trying
to drag the stone back into
the sky.
- My stone.
you see, he goes," No! My stone!
" Please don't do that!"
He's he.
This is, you can see he has
like a powerful, magical sword.
His boots now clearly have lit
up with some kind of magical
thing.
This dude Langley he seems like no joke.
He seems like a pretty proficient pirate,
even though he's behind
the desk most times.
But his, his beautiful
clothed hair is now boom.
And he's sort of got soot on
his face and a little smoke
comes out of his mouth.
Incredible max damage call lightning.
That is going to be the various
soldiers that are sort of
all around you.
The ones that are not restrained
are going to make some
attacks.
Oh my good God those are some bad rolls.
Four of the restraint soldiers
around you pull themselves up
out of the roots. Another
four are still left trapped.
More are rushing in from the
wood lines as they do so,
you see that several of
them take shots at you.
As the shots are taken,
you see one b*llet grazes,
Bob for,
seven points of damage.
You see that the other soul,
even other soldiers are
like," Good heavens Jenkins.
"Certainly not the Serafin of song."
And you see the one soldier is like,
" I'm sorry. Am I the as*h*le?
"For fighting some, I mean...
"Spell it out for me.
"I guess.
You see that's the soldiers turn
Jack. That is you.
- Oh man. Oh,
as a check-in,
is Clive still restrained
and he's he gone yet?
- Clive is restrained,
pulling at his restraints,
looking at you.
- Right. So I'm... And...
Marcid, are you conscious or,
or are you down?
- Oh, I'm in death saves.
- Okay.
- Yeah.
- Then, then I'm gonna go ahead,
and like the frustrating kind of
clenched teeth exertion, still
looking over towards Clive.
And just be like,
"Stay put. You're next."
I'm going to go ahead and
charge towards the caster,
that's down to Marcid.
As I'm running towards them, bonus action,
going into a rage and just.
- Oh no...
Incredible.
You charged. I will say...
So Marcid was dropped by Langley,
but the caster is still restrained.
I don't know which of those two
would seem more dangerous to
Jack,
but go ahead and make your attacks
on whichever one you wish,
they're both right next to each other.
- Okay. Then I will go
first for the caster.
- Cool.
- Go ahead and make an attack.
Now she's restrained.
So that's advantage
the attack roll, right?
- That is correct.
- Oh, there we go.
That is a,
24 to hit.
- That'll do it.
- All right then.
With that. That'll be...
Having a six, 11,
18 points of bludgeoning
and damage against the mage.
- She is looking at hurt g*ng.
- All right. And I'm gonna go ahead and...
Second attack is going
to be against Langley.
- Cool.
- Who is not restrained? So
it's just a straight tackle.
Right?
- That is correct.
- Natural 20.
- No!
- I'm so happy.
Alrighty. And so for against him,
that would be...
23 points of bludgeoning damage.
- Oh my God.
Jack leaps into battle.
Again, this enormous wooden mast moves.
So scarily fast and also
the way Jack is fighting
like most of Jack's effort as always
is keeping the mask up in the air
and just using his whole body,
you're pivoting...
The storm caster
Alamaria, across the head.
You can see for all her mystique.
She looks pretty dumb after
getting a ship's mast across the
side of the head.
And Langley goes a*s
over tea kettle, wham.
You see, as it comes at him he says,
"I think I used to own that mast."
- As, as the mast
finishes swinging around,
you can see as a...
As a...
Jack kind of settles
himself there at the ready,
the mist emerges from the staff.
As the ancestral protectors
begin to swirl around the
ghostly spirits begin to kind
of Corinne around the mage.
- You see that
Clive fully screams.
As he sees the ghosts of the crew,
he may be dressed up like a fancy soldier.
Now that dude's a pirate and
ghosts scare the sh*t out of
him.
As you do that as well.
You see the...
The Castor is swarmed by them.
Langley looks up at you and
recognizes the man who sold you,
your ship. You see he
chuckles holding the stone.
He goes...
"Jack Brakkow...
"My heavens.
"The dead do walk.
"Our little guinea pig is still alive."
- What a d*ck?
- You see...
Yes.
The, the term guinea pig,
pings some, he, he
knows what rat folk are,
but it moves on from Jack's
turn. That's going to be Cheese.
- Cheese.
So Cheese was standing there
and he starts watching all
these people like his crew
wind up and he's like,
"Oh no. What, what is what
what's Bob about to do?
"What's going on?"
Sees like the ground fall.
He's like," Oh crap."
He casts like invisibility on himself.
And he's about to run.
But he sees like the damage that,
that Bob did and is like kind
of inspired by it's like,
"Oh, I can be."
And then sees Marcid gets stabbed,
It's like,
"Oh no."
And he's like,"Oh, what am
I, what am I doing here?"
And then like, see's
is like another storm.
He's going back and forth like
ping pong in on what he needs
to do.
And it's not his crew that
actually like inspires him to go
in. But like the people,
that have been kidnapped,
He gets a flash of that,
vision that he saw back at Jack's place,
of his brother and the roots.
And like, it's very similar
to the surroundings,
that he's in right now.
And he thinks like this
is not a coincidence.
And he looks up at that
stone and I'm gonna make,
I'm gonna run and try to try to grab it.
I'm invisible and this
guy's laughing at whatever.
They're having a moment.
- Hell yeah.
I'll give you this. Guy's
this guy's athletics check.
Tell you what you have to beat.
That is a natural seven
plus...
That is a natural seven plus
five.
You have to beat a 12
on an athletics check.
You may roll with advantage.
- Ooh, 16.
- You see Langley laughs.
"I beg..."
And the stone just... flies.
I wish I could say it zooms away.
It's more like it wobbles
away as a very tiny gnome
carries this massive stone away.
- Oh no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
I'm just running.
- You run baby.
Are you running towards the
Lake toward the forest line,
which, which direction?
- Probably back towards
the forest line. Yeah.
- You run back
towards the forest line.
Cool.
You were circling back to
the forestline. Next to go.
Is Bob.
- Well, you know.
I'm not very happy because
someone just shot me and I was
just trying to do the best
to protect my friends.
And they were the ones who
took my friend in the first
place. And I just don't
think it's very fair.
And so I'm starting to get
really upset and as I get more
and more upset and my eyes
take on a very dark golden tone
and my wings start to sprout
out from my shoulders and I
rise up from the ground.
And all you see is just the spot.
The gold just coming off of me.
It actually looks really good though,
considering the circumstances,
but
it's not my normal stage,
but I liked the change.
Mama's real excited
for the chance to rage.
You've never seen an angel
put on this type of shell.
You should be in fear
of my Brady and tool.
And also as a bonus section,
because I think I should
be within 60 feet.
Now that I'm in the air,
I'd like to cast shields of fate,
all the, to my buddy,
Who's on the ground there,
because I can't get over to touch
him and heal him.
But I can at least do a little something.
- You cast
shield of faith on Marcid.
- I do.
- And you cast...
And you, you use your radiant
soul ability incredible.
Oh my God.
- Wait. There's more.
Here comes my turn.
- Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.
Druid, looks
super
messed up.
You see, she looks like
she wants to fight.
Langley looks at the stone, rushing away.
He is going to use a bonus action dash
to close the distance
with Cheese.
He's going to...
Try...
He's gonna make two attempts
to grab,
Boy. Those are some bad rolls.
He made...
The first of his grab attempts.
He rolls a 12 and the next he rolls in 13
Cheese, you have advantage
on both of these rolls
because you're still invisible.
So you just need to be a 12 on
the first roll athletics and
a 13 on the second roll athletics.
- Come on Cheese.
- One.
- No!
- For real.
- One and a 17. Yeah.
Not a quick fail. Not a quick fail.
I have a minus one.
- Gotcha. Okay.
Cheese, You see Langley rushes
up as he's running over,
actually to, to grab this out of you,
we're actually going to
go to the arch druid.
It's going to delay her turn. Yeah.
Before we resolve this
with Cheese and the stone.
Sunny, that's going to be you.
You see Langley going
after Cheese with a stone.
You see a dying Marcid on
the ground and you see that
ruby bell on the altar.
What's Sunny gonna do.
- How far away is the bell?
Roughly.
- From you, where you are right
now, if you were following,
you're kind of splitting the
distance about 40 feet away
from where you are now.
- I am,
I am vaulting like an Olympic
swimmer off of this hillside.
And I am going to do my fly
speed of 50 feet straight to
that bell. Over top of all
of these douchebags soldiers.
- Ooh, you fly over them.
Your wings spreading heroic wind,
underneath you.
And you it's totally unintended.
You snatch the bell off the
alter with 10 feet of movement
left.
- I hold up the bell.
Is anyone looking at me? Is
anyone looking like, you know,
concerned?
- Oh yes. You see
Alamaria the storm druid,
screams and says," The
Mutineers bell, the bell."
- And then I say," Article
number one, of the pirates code,
"Everyone gets a vote."
And I ring the bell and I
hope that this doesn't like
summon the Balrog or something insane.
- Okay.
- I hope this wakes people up because,
that's what Sunny thinks it does.
- You ring this thing...
You heard her refer to
as the mutineers bell.
Bing, Bing, Bing, Bing, Bing, Bing, Bing.
You see that the bell catches a flame,
burns into the flesh of your hand,
sealing in place there,
such that you cannot let go of it.
As it does so, you see
the surface of the Lake
erupts in fire.
The ritual begins.
You see that Alamaria
has restrained below.
It goes," Oh, we weren't ready."
And you see, as the ritual starts,
they clearly were not ready.
Setting this up.
Magical alarms in The Sternwood start to
go off.
Clearly, this was not
supposed to be happening here.
You begin to hear roaring,
growling, trumpeting
and you
see that Alamaria below you goes,
" The beast, the beast are here!"
On the other side of the Lake crashing
through the tree line,
you see a full grown tyrannosaurus rex,
burst out of the tree line.
Dave, that was gonna happen even if-
The tyrannosaurus...
- It's almost like I know you.
- Tyrannosaurus rex
burst from the tree line.
This tyrannosaurus rex
is wearing an enormous,
tricorner hat, eyepatch
and has two little hooks on its chest.
- Tiny little hooks. It goes and goes,
Alamaria goes,
"What the f*ck is wrong with this place?
"Why can't the city be normal?"
- Sunny. You...
that's all that's object interaction.
So you're like 10 feet in the air now,
you ring the bell.
Something is happening.
You still have an action. If you want,
if there's anything you want to do.
- Hope that wasn't a mistake and
inspired by what
Bob does.
I cast shield of faith
right back at Bob and
cast shield of faith on Bob
- You guys are both like
similar sort of height,
so its like two flying, but...
Extend the shield of faith to Bob.
- That's my bonus action. So
that was my move action bonus
action. And I think that's all I got.
- Cool.
Springing from the restraints.
Clive MCdoon,
closes with
Jack,
and is going to take,
he's going to take his attacks now.
He hits
and
deals,
23 points of piercing damage
halved two 11 points of
piercing damage
to Jack.
He rushes forward and tries
to get you and ends up.
Just scraping your side with his musket.
He goes," You weren't
supposed to be alive Jack.
"Neither were you."
- As he ends
his turn, he's going to...
She does not take a disengage.
So you get a free attack
of opportunity on him.
As he goes to close with Alamaria.
- Alamaria you said is,
is delaying her turn.
- She's fully delaying her turn, yes.
- Then I'm gonna go ahead
and hold and let him go.
- Cool.
You hold your reaction.
He leaves and closes.
Langley resolves for those rolls that we,
we already rolled.
Actually I'm gonna need death
saves from Marcid first.
- That's one fail.
- One failed from...
- And now your dice suck.
- Langley...
- I said they would...
- Langley rushes over
on that one from
Cheese, rips, the stone away and
rushes back.
So he used his bonus action dash,
grabs that you use the rest of the
moment to close with Alamaria.
He smiles,
Clive looks f*cked up
and shaken and you see
Langley
looks at you. Looks, looks at Jack,
looks at the stone in his hands.
He smiles at you Jack and says,
"I'm sorry for the pain it cost,
"but it is somewhat pleasant
that we're all back together
"again.
"You, you're first mate, me
and this lovely stone that
"dear Clive was so willing to place
for a price.
"We needed to test to make
sure that the stone worked
and...
"Seems that the stone does
call storms quite fiercely.
"My dear sweet Jack,
don't worry.
"The price we collected on
the insurance policy was far
"greater than what we took
from you for the price of the
"ship."
Alamaria restrained there she is.
Alamaria puts her hands on
Clive and Langley pulls them
into her, embrace through the trees.
They move and are gone.
- Are they near a tree to get into?
- They're surrounded by roots.
They've moved through the roots...
- Oh yeah.
- That are grappling them.
And you see...
- And he had the stone?
- He had the stone.
- d*ck!
- Langley, Clive, Alamaria...
I will say these incredibly
powerful adversaries were caught
completely off guard.
And instead of pulling... this
ritual has failed clearly.
Whatever they trying to
do here, you have stopped.
So though, these villains vanish,
we are still in initiative.
You gotta still resolving things.
They disappear.
Myrtle. That is you.
- I'm going to blow over towards the
downed Marcid.
And
yeah,
I put my hands webbed,
though it is on his chest and I say,
"I thought I told you,
"I'm the only one allowed to k*ll you.
And with like a little pulse,
I'm going to cast cure
wounds at a third level.
- Hell yeah.
Marcid, you come to with a familiar...
of salt water and blood
coming out of your mouth.
You feel the cold of the
depths. Fill your body.
How much damage is he healed.
- 19.
- 19. Hell yeah.
Awesome. That is your action.
Any bonus action from
Myrtle? Are we all good?
- Nop we're good.
- You say the lengths I go to
to get your attention. Love.
- You have it.
- Amazing.
The rest of these soldiers
begin
to escape from
their restraints.
There are, you see it about eight of them.
Stay behind but call out
to the other ones that are
approaching as their leaders
straight up abandoned them and
go," Fall back, fall back.
"Langley.
"Ms. Jewish Sheffield,
"Harrington has made it away!
"Fall back!"
And just begin to be a retreat.
There's a couple that
stayed to fight though.
Jack, three close on you.
And as they do so,
once that's going to be three hits.
You take five, half to two,
four, half to two and six,
half to three.
So seven damage all told
from bayonets and muskets.
Another two come from
Myrtle, both miss horribly.
Your sphere of water moving around you.
And then another three are
going to come from our Marcid
Only one hits Marcid for
five points of damage.
You see also across the Lake,
the tyrannosaur begin stomping
towards some of the fleeing
soldiers.
It fully devours a soldier in one bite.
It looks like whatever this thing is,
doesn't seem to have a dog in this fight.
It's just a giant pirate
tyrannosaur that is coming in out
of the forest.
Jack. That is going to be your turn.
- All right.
Taking all the blows and the
soldiers that are surrounded,
just kind of still caught in
the anger and fury of watching
them vanish from right in
front of his grasp and watching
Clive shocked as he may
be, just disappear again.
Quietly centers himself for a minute,
the rage still burning inside.
Does he see or any of
the soldiers around him?
The one that shot Miss. Barbarella.
- There is one guy
who's actively fighting you,
Who's still explaining himself
to the guy next to him.
- I... as they're like
yelling and hitting me,
I just turned without
even flinching and say,
"You should learn how
best to aim that piece
"you son of a b*tch."
And just start and just like once, twice,
like full on, over ahead,
putting in the railroad spikes,
slam him as best I can with this.
I am doing this with
reckless strikes. So...
- Hell yeah, go for it.
- I'm super angry.
First attack is
21.
- 21 hits.
- Second one is Ooh, 24.
- Yes, absolutely.
Go ahead and roll damage.
- 14.
And 13 bludgeoning damage.
- You see he's goes like he goes,
"I'm just saying isn't it kind
of sexist not to attack the
"woman, right?
"Like that's also in its way."
- His mangled body just full of splinters.
Spread out on the roots..
It's huge. The scene you guys are seeing,
even for Leviathan,
it's a Lake of fire with an
active pirate tyrannosaur on the
other side, eating soldiers.
There's the tieflings that are
still partially in the water
still alive. And, and.
- This guy's gone.
Your ghostly crew surrounds
you all howling going,
- Do you guys feel like these insane.
ghostly whales from Jack's crew.
Cheese, that's gonna be you.
- Jeez... Cheese is just...
- Every time I love it.
- He is cute.
- Cheese. It's like, Oh, I got the stone.
I lost the stone. Oh crap a T-rex.
- He was like," Where did
he even get a hook hands?
"Those are anchors that
doesn't even make sense.
"These Druids are messed up."
And he's like running
the opposite direction.
He just wants to be useful,
but he's also like gonna stay invisible.
So he's going to try to pull,
try to help some people out of the water,
I guess.
- Awesome.
Like something he's going
to like run up and like
try to pull him out.
- Yeah. Heck yeah,
go ahead and actually give me
an arcane check if you'd be so
kind.
And go ahead good to go
into the advantage actually.
- Cool.
First one is a 22,
second one's a 23.
- Awesome.
You do a quick arcane check.
The bell, the bell in Sunny's hand,
you can see,
it's powerfully cursed.
The, the thing they were not
done yet in the ritual was
A, hiding the ritual from
the Druids in the forest.
And B it looks like they were
summoning something that is
not really properly bound.
They were trying to use this
bell as a component to get
something bigger,
like putting a worm on
a hook to get a fish.
Now you get the sensation that
because the ritual went off
half c*ck,
like it looks like Sunny's idea
about what would happen when
she rang the bell was
optimistic, but it did stop,
whatever the really
bad thing was gonna be.
So that's cool.
So, so mixed success.
- Middle of the road result.
- Middle of the road result.
You see that, you have no
chance of getting whatever this
fish was.
Nor do you think that
this metaphorical fish
was to be something
that you wanted to get.
It's still possible, you
think to get the worm,
you would, it's, but
someone's gonna need to like,
do something to dispel or
undo the curse on this.
So you know that it needs to be dispelled.
So I'm wanting to do
some dispelling of it.
But that's your arcana check.
You know that these tieflings
aren't ensorcelled anymore.
They're just unconscious.
So anything you can do to just
wake these tieflings up will
work. They, they, you can do something.
- So I think as soon as I get
there and like I realized that
I do that, arcane check,
Sunny's still holding the,
the bell, right?
- Yeah, absolutely.
Yeah. I want to send a message.
I want - Cheese casts what he calls,
" Tickle, whisper."
And like sends a message to
Sunny, like conveying that like,
"Oh man, I mean, that
was bad, but don't worry.
"It could have been way worse,
"like super worse."
As like, they're both
staring at this T-Rex or,
and conveying to Sunny, like,
"Okay, we got one thing and
we got to spell this thing.
"We got to end it.
- I'm just going to say,"
Cheese, I think it's fused
to my hand.
- Oh.
- I think it's melted into my flesh.
I... Help.
That's all I got.
- Awesome.
Great,
Cheese that's that's your
action to cast a message.
You're rushing over.
I'll go in, just as a
free audit interaction.
You can shake the first
tiefling awake. If you want to.
You see you shake the
first tiefling awake,
they snap open and you see just this,
this young tiefling man,
sort of like a beautiful
brown velvet coat.
He looks like a sort of up
and coming like haberdashers.
And then like that this goes,
" Murray Murray."
And you see the same vacant
expression in his eyes that was
in Trixie's after that
thing happened to her.
But you see
that
he does stand up and kind of
absent mindedly look to get
away from the... From the fire.
He looks very impressionable.
If that makes any difference.
After she's Bob,
that's going to be your turn.
- Oh. So is anyone still attacking?
- There are
seven of these crescent,
moon soldiers down on the ground fighting.
She is gotta start
waking up the tieflings.
Sunny is screaming with a
cursed burning bell in her hand.
So, yeah, still scrapping below.
And then you got the t-rex and
the fleeing soldiers on the
other side of the Lake,
which could be a problem.
Or it could just be
something that's happening.
- Well, I don't really
wanna assume that the t-rex
is the bad guy, just because he's a t-rex.
I think he probably seems like
he's only going after the bad
guys, so I'm going to leave that alone.
But I do look down and I
see that there's that guy,
that was bothering Jack.
So I'm gonna go after him.
And I'm going to cast the guiding bolt.
- Awesome. Go ahead...
- I'm still in the air.
I'm still in air. Great.
So when you look at it,
it looks like I just gone
I've got a clear shot
directly for his eyeball.
- Amazing. Go ahead and roll.
Go ahead. Roll your attack.
- It's 26.
- 26 damage.
- No, no, not 26.
- Yeah. Good, good, good.
- Don't be so presumptuous.
- 24 Points of damage.
- Incredible.
You see...
Bob.
You lay your hand out and a
pure mo of light with little
radiant, like musical notes,
like literally the symbols,
like musical notes symbols,
like,
And you see that this
guy looks up and says,
" My God, beautiful."
and his skull is,
obliterated done collapses to the ground.
Completely gone.
- Sorry.
- Bob. Any bonus actions from Bob?
- Oh no, I don't think I'm gonna do that.
- Cool.
Sunny. That's you.
- Okay.
- I'm gonna fly down kind of near Bob
and I'm going to just
start taking out guys.
- Hell yeah.
- Just start going for it.
Yeah. So first guy.
whack.
I'm going to hit them with my hook.
- Awesome. Go for it.
- However is nearest.
- Yeah. You fly that...
There's three guys on Marcid,
two on Myrtle, two on Jack.
- Three on mine. I'll go for
one of the dudes on Marcid.
- Cool.
- Okay. Okay.
20 to hit.
- That is a hit. Go ahead and roll damage.
- Six, sorry.
Six plus four is 10.
- You thud the hook
into his shoulder and...
Yells out in pain.
- And I'm go ahead and divine smite that,
at first level for two more, d8.
At one c*ck...
That's...
It's a straight two d eight.
So seven more damage.
- Cool. So your first hit deal.
17 points of damage you...
And rake the hook across this
dude's chest badly injured.
So he looks up at you and
says," What the hell is that,
"you even have a,
"how hard is it to get a
weapon in a pirate city?
"You can't get a regular sword?"
- And I'm just gonna
with my second attack,
take the curse bell that is
fused to my hand and just go
whack and b*tch slap him.
Not as great. 15.
- 15 still hits.
- Okay. Okay.
And I'm assuming this is
like an unarmed attack.
Cause it's not my w*r pic or I'm like,
- How you just say it's
one D six fire damage.
It's a magic burning bell.
- Okay. Okay.
That was terrible. That was one.
I rolled a one on a D six.
- A plus. What is, what
is your strength modifier?
- Oh, I'm sorry.
A plus four. So five total.
- These guys have 20 hit points.
This guy mouths off to
you and you take a flaming
bell.
You smack him across the head
as it does his eyes burst in
flame. He goes,
and you watch his flaming soul
get sucked out of his eyes
and mouth into the bell.
And you hear his body collapses dead.
And you hear ringing out of the bell.
"Open the bell, open the bell!"
"And am on fire! And the bell is hell!
"Inside the bell is hell I'm in here!
"I'm in here!
"Why did you do it?
"Why did you do it to me?
"It wasn't necessary."
We've m*rder*d Sam Kinison
Oh no.
- Oh my God.
Sunny just like, kinda cries a little.
Cause she doesn't know
what she's just done.
And then,
I can,
Okay. I'm actually just gonna
now kind of stand near Bob
and ready my shield and kind
of protect Bob just in case.
- When I watch her k*ll this
dude right in front of me,
I look at it and I go," Ah, you
always remember your first?"
- Yeah.
- Sunny's first k*ll a
hundred percent. I'm just,
I'm like that. A stoic face
with just tears streaming down,
but no real emotion. Just
really processing it.
You know?
- You always
remember your first when
you suck a pirate soul into a magic bell.
- I mean who among us
hasn't though. Really?
I was gonna say the same!
That's a Wednesday!
- Marcid,
one of the dudes on you
has just gotten a soul,
sucked into a bell. You
got two more left on you.
- I sort of like look at her
with like pride and I'm like,
"Well, but wait though,
you just rotate your hips
"slightly more."
And I got a natural 20.
That's 30 points I put
on the first guy and...
- Oh dude, just like...
tried and corkscrewing a guy's midsection.
He, he is just dead before,
before he can realize it.
On the ground.
30 points of damage. Good grief.
- And then I put
15 with the,
on the second guy with the equal outcome.
- The last guy on you screams out
as you bury your short halved spear,
into his torso.
- I lean in and I'm like,"
Run. No, I'll let you go run."
- You... he's considering it.
Myrtle. That's you, you
still have two guys on you.
Marcid is finishing off his
last one. Jack's got two on him.
You also do see that burning
bell still in Sunny's hands.
- Yeah. I may have gotten rid
of my high level spell slot.
I made a mistake it'll be fine.
We just need to take a nap first.
But she's gonna look over her
shoulder and then turn and
face like one of the ones that's
like right in melee range.
And I'm going to call lightning
down just right in front of
me. Cause I'm unbothered.
- Amazing.
- Deck save, please and thank you.
- Natural two. On the deck save go ahead
and roll damage.
- Fast math. I hate it.
22.
- 22 points of damage.
One of the guys right in front of you.
You've never seen this before
because it's normally your
underwater. So the lightning
is not as dramatic, but Hey,
you're fighting under an
open sky. Let's go for it.
This dude's just gone. There's
a guy and then lightning.
And you're just looking
at like a smoking crater.
What could have happened
to his body? We don't know.
He's so dead.
One guy left in front of you
as the after Myrtle's turn.
- Oh wait, can
I use my motor section?
Yes. Go for it.
- Sweet.
Cause I guess we're just
burning all of our spell slots
today. I'm going to cast spiritual weapon,
just a bonus action and
not a concentration spell.
And her spiritual weapon. Isn't
like, like a giant weapon.
It's just the water that like
sort of like expands out and
becomes this like spectral wave
that attacks on her behalf.
- Awesome.
- So we'll do that.
Yeah. And I'll make a melee attack.
Ooh. I get to like roll a die.
Oh, I got a natural one.
It doesn't do anything.
Its fine. It looked fine.
- It looks fun.
You see that the other guy
staring at where his friend is,
was and was erased by a bolt of divine.
lightning looks over and a
little sphere of water comes out
and gently licks the side of his face,
and he just goes,
"Why are you making this
so humiliating for us?
"We're just some guys."
- His point of view.
- That he is just some guy,
goes home, has dinner.
- Oh no, but he won't
be doing that anymore actually.
- And his beige pants...
The most uninteresting...
- No tags on the back.
They're not even brands...
- Very proud of
riding lawnmower though.
Very proud.
- White rice and chicken for dinner.
- And the label.
- Sadly. No one will remember him.
- Oh no.
- Jack, you take five points of damage.
Halved to two. And then you
take 14 points of damage.
Halved to seven from the
two guys left attacking you.
How's Jack looking right now.
- Jack still sitting pretty at 33.
- You the one left
on Myrtle attacks and misses.
What a mistake.
The one left on Marcid misses Marcid.
- You can go. I said you could run.
- He goes and tries to
get you with the bayonet.
Missing you by one.
He needed a 12 and he rolled an 11.
- Too late now.
- Jack, that's you.
- All right. So there are two
other guys still at my sides,
right?
- Yes, that's correct.
- I'm gonna look to the one that they did
the 14 points of damage
to me last round and say,
"What's your name?"
- Oh, my name is."
- " Say, your name is Clive."
- This is some weird role playing...
- Say it!
- My name is Clive. My
name is Clive. I'm Clive.
- Die Clive!
I gonna ahead and attack him.
- Can't have the real one.
I'll go with the proxy.
The first, the first attack is a 17.
- 17 hits.
- Okay.
That'll be Ooh, nice...
17 points of bludgeoning damage to him.
- And I'm trying to remember.
Yes. This one right here.
You bludgeoning on death's
door, hanging on by a thread.
That's your first attack.
- That's my first attack.
Well, I'm going to, I'm
going to finish it off.
Clive.
- I cast therapy.
- You're far too late for me on that one.
Like you just like tears
in his eyes and be like,
"You set up this curse to ruin my life."
And I'm just like taking
it out on the poor guy.
The second attack is
going to be 24 to hit.
And that'll be 18 points
bludgeoning damage.
- So far a, a mess...
you've made a mess, Jack.
It's just...
You've made a terrible mess.
The roots are drinking it all up.
- I'm standing heavy
with the blood splatter.
And I look over to the one
guy who's still there and say,
"What's your name?"
This is honestly f*cking
crazy, but it is also Clive.
And I mean really.
No I mean f*cking Roger - wait!
- What is your favorite color?
- You see...
Cheese that is your turn.
Make a perception check
with advantage for me.
- Okay. 20, but not natural.
The other one is a 21.
- She's, as you're helping this
first tedling up out of the
water.
You look into the water, which
again is covered in fire,
but it, as it gets towards,
sort of like the roots,
the roots have some kind of
druidic protection on them to
keep the fire.
These are a couple like
inches away from the very,
very edge where they can catch the trees.
You look down and see a
reflection next to your reflection
in the water.
Spaulding smiles up at you.
"Great work kiddo you're close.
"You're on the right track
"Here. Let me give you a hand.
- You see that Spaulding
closes his eyes and
the reflection disappears.
All the tieflings
around the Lake, wake up and
look to be in sort of a daze.
And you see they're all kind
of like muttering something to
themselves. You hear them all
muttering, a different name.
They're all just muttering,
a name to themselves.
What does Cheese do?
He sees them.
And then he looks back at the
water and his brother's gone.
He's going to jump into the water.
Can I jump in or no?
- Hell yeah.
You can jump right in.
- Okay. Yeah.
I want to cast... Cheese
would call it "Bibble Bobble"
but it's a water breathing
and he's just going to dive
and see if he can pull him out.
- You dive, you dive through magic flame.
You cast the spell to
allow yourself to breathe.
Some weird thing happens with the ritual.
Like there's so much wild
magic around here because a big
ritual didn't get pulled
off in the right way.
Because you're diving into a Lake of fire
and you cast water breathing.
You also somehow cast fire,
breathing on yourself and you
can feel fire like entering
your lungs.
As you move through the
water you're suspended.
And there are like multiple
levels of fire, water, fire,
water,
almost in those places like in
deep subterranean caves where
you will be underwater, but
see another type of water
underneath you or like a different surface
appears underneath.
You swim through again and again.
You see that your coat is
almost like animated around you,
helping you swim.
And you realize this
wasn't always your coat.
You swim down deeper towards
the roots and you see where the
roots grow tangled and thick
at the base of the lake.
Strapped in on trapped deep underneath
you're in some kind of
extra dimensional space.
You don't even know if they're
really in Leviathan anymore.
You're doing some kind
of real magic and yeah,
you've got it off a torn off
corner of the page and it
didn't have the warning section
and it didn't have the other
stuff you needed.
This is real magic.
You dive and you can see Spaulding.
He's trapped. The roots are
across him like the bars
of the cage, but he's
got his arm through it,
and he reaches it up to you?
- Oh yeah.
I'm I'm reaching like right for
him and like saying his name
underwater like, " Spaulding."
- He reaches his hand up to you.
And go ahead. I actually
am going to to ask for.
Give me a, give me an arcane check first.
- 23.
- You realize...
I was going to ask you
for an athletics check
until you realize that you
need to stop swimming because
you're not really in water anymore.
You're in the spell and you
realize that you don't need to
use your real physical legs
to swim down here and you tear
down.
And grasps Spaulding's hand.
You see, he looks up at you and goes.
"How did you do that Cheese?"
- "I gotchu.
"I'll always catch you. You always got me.
"We need to get out of
here now I have a crew."
- I use tries to swing back or.
- You see you
grab him. And as you pull,
you see that the roots tighten around him.
Spaulding looks at you.
You've got his hand.
You see, he goes,
"Cheese I'm not really here.
"They put me away somewhere.
"But I figured out a way
to get part of the way out.
"I can see you. I can look after you.
"Not, not physically
anymore, but from the mirror,
"from the shop windows,
little bits I can see through,
"but you found me here. Listen,
"I've never been able to
say this much to you before,
"they got me.
"We went on pilgrimage. We
had the crew of gnomes going.
"I was going to go make
money for mom and dad.
"You know,
mom and dad are.
"I don't know if it's right
that they sent us to go do this
"stuff, kid.
"I wish I'd stuck up for
you more. And I'm sorry,
"I messed up.
"I shouldn't have let them,
but it was all a trick.
"It's not an honor.
It's it's, it's a trick.
"It's a con.
"They have kids like us that
are gifted at this stuff.
"Go to do this for them. And
it was all part of a plan.
"They're gonna try to destroy Leviathan.
"It's almost too late.
"They are gonna try to
destroy the whole city.
"look."
And you see, he points out.
You look through flame and you
can see that the fire as the
tieflings are getting up out of the water,
the spell is fading.
You see another tiefling deep
down in the dark and you see a
door that was supposed to
open all the way to the nine
hells.
But you see some little spark.
There's something down
at the bottom, a spirit,
something could even beat
another tiefling is trying to get
out and get into the bell.
There is something there
that is trying to get out.
You feel like,
because you've dive into
the middle of the spell.
If you wanted to allow
this thing, passage out,
you could.
With that 23 Arcana,
this thing is infernal,
which is always kind of suspicious,
but it doesn't seem imposing.
It honestly seems kind of
like a weaker infernal spirit.
It seems like in that
worm and fish metaphor,
this seems like the worm.
This seems like something that
might know what was supposed
to happen here.
- What's my brothers.
Can I roll an insight to get
my brother's feel on whatever
this thing is.
- Not to be cheesy. I think
with you and your brother.
- You always roll a
Nat 20 insight on each.
- Oh, okay. Yeah.
Yeah. I'm going to go, go for this guy.
I'm going to like, look, look
at him and like, be like.
"I'm goinna be, I'll be back.
"I'm going to get you outta here.
- Like our hands, like
slowly, like separate.
And I'm going to like go
deeper to get this guy.
- He says, I know you will.
I know you'll find me. You
always were a tag along.
You see you leave your brother
spoken to you for the first
time. It seems like he's gone.
Maybe he's not dead.
You reach over, find a spark, touch it.
And for everyone else,
all this long interaction,
having to spend a seconds.
You guys Cheese dive into
the flame is gone underwater
for a couple of seconds and
rockets out of the water
like a comet, sparkling magic, Sunny,
he streaks right towards you
and slams into your chest.
She is...
You see that you are sparkling.
You're holding a like magical
ball of sh**ting sparks and
flame. That ball gets sucked
into the bell in Sunny's hand.
And the fire on the bell goes
out and is now it is still
stuck in your hand, Sunny,
but it's no longer actively hurting.
And it's just throbbing with a dull glow.
What a turn.
Bob, you see Trixie on the
other side of the Lake,
get up stumbling around.
All of them are muttering names.
Trixie looks at you and goes," Bob, Bob."
And begins to stumble.
Still looking spaced out and out of it.
What is Bob going to do on her turn?
- I think I want to go and get Trixie.
I've been waiting this entire time.
So I think I'm going to float
over and try to get Trixie.
- You flew over, tried to get Trixie.
You fly to her, lift her up in your arms.
And you see, she looks at you.
She can't quite make eye contact.
She looks confused and muddled.
Something's not right here.
She just looks and cradles
her forehead into the crook of
your neck and goes,
"Bob."
"Bob."
And begins to look scared in
the way that someone who can't
remember something looks frightened.
It's like her whole mind
is escaping from her,
but there's one word on
her lips and it's yours.
- I think you've got to
try and use healing hand.
- Awesome. Go ahead and use healing hands.
She is partially injured
from the scuffle before.
So you see her wounds heal,
but you can tell from deep within that,
a deeper kind of
restoration will be needed
for whatever is
afflicting Trixie.
But she smiles and you see not
unconscious from the casting
of spells or magic, but you see,
she simply with the healing
collapses and closes her eyes.
As you carry her back.
There is still some combat going on.
Sunny. That's going to be your turn.
- All right.
How many dudes are left?
- One on Jack.
One on Marcid.
One on Myrtle.
- I'll go for the one.
I'll go for the one Jack.
- Go for it.
- Okay.
No, that's so bad.
Ah, 12.
- That's their exact armor class.
These guys are...
- Oh my God.
- These guys are not wearing
armor. They're at sea.
They've got...
- Oh, well, bam.
Ooh, that was a good damage roll though.
11.
- Ooh. Awesome.
- Just hit him again.
Actually. No, no, no. Sorry. Bonus action.
A shield attack.
I'm going to try and shove
him over with my shield.
- Awesome. Cool. Cool. Cool.
Go ahead and make your shield attack.
- Which
is
definitely something
I understand how to do.
You can add your shields...
deck save.
- Your roll in your athletics versus his.
- Exactly.
- My athletics. Okay.
That's pretty good. 19.
- Yeah. You sat with the
hook, shield across the head,
knocked this guy to the ground.
You have another attack,
left.
- Another attack with advantage. Now?
- Advantage now. Yes, yes, yes.
I rolled a five and a six,
- Oh no.
but I think that ironically
still hits cause it's with
a plus seven. So 13.
- 13 hits that's correct. Yes, yes yes.
- Ooh, that, and that was
an eight on my damage rolls.
So, or on my damaged tie.
So 12 damage.
- Brutal.
Whatever he says, you've
got a taste for it.
So you... I'll say because
you have a shield,
you've stowed your hook.
You're just k*lling
people with the bell now.
its stuck in you hand.
So you just smashed this. Guy's
head open with this Burton,
this like red hot bell.
And...
He is done.
We go back to the top of
the order with Marcid.
The one she just k*lled was
the one that's on Myrtle.
There's one that's on Jack.
- No, she had the one on Jack.
So Myrtle's,
- Okay.
- got one and you've got yours.
So I look at this guy in
front of me and I'm like,
"I told you, you could go."
And I turn it I throw the
ye claw at the one that,
that is fighting Myrtle
and I hit him for 13.
- Awesome.
- Yeah. And then I like,
look back at this dude.
I'm like," All right, fine die."
I give him for 12.
This guy was on death's
door to begin with dead.
Incredible. And then the bad news
is just the one badly injured one.
- Believe it or
not. I have a third attack.
I flung the, trident back at
the one that I thought I'd just
hit Myrtle.
- Go ahead and roll...
- That is 10 more on the guy.
- It's incredible martial display.
You see the first guy gets
these spear he's gets licked
by this water is so strange.
He goes," There's a melee weapon in me,"
yes you melee weapons in me.
He collapses to the ground.
You guys...
Emerge victorious, Sunny you land,
Cheese you hop out of Sunny's arms
Bob, you fly back with Trixie there.
She's with this incredible revelation,
Myrtle, you're looking at that bell,
Marcid and Jack are
surrounded by mangled bodies.
And you see all these
tieflings sort of confused and
stumbling. They're not making eye contact.
They just kind of crowd around Trixie.
Like they're all trying
to stay together. Kind of.
And because Trixie moved, they
all would moved after Trixie.
You guys here across the Lake.
- Oh right yeah.
- I hit all of them with
pass, pass without trace.
All the tieflings. All of us.
I'm like," Time to go."
- I want to start playing like
Wrangle the t-rex with call
lightening.
And I'm just like, no, back, back in,
go back in the back in the woods.
- And the tears...
and begins to...
You guys see other creatures
start coming out of the woods.
You guys see there is an enormous,
like a legendary cave bear,
a bear that's 30 feet long,
but it has a tricorne hat and...
Legs that are each like 15 feet
tall. He's like mammoth like math.
So it's just like four table legs.
You see that there is a,
like a forearmed monkey that
draws like four flintlock
pistols, leaps out.
This is a bad forest.
And you guys are getting out
of here just in the nick of
time. Hey, let me tell you good thing.
Y'all avoided that cottage earlier.
You tear off with a pass without
trace and are ghosts in the
night with these stump.
Even these stumping tieflings
who are rolling with
disadvantage, still all have
a plus 10 to their checks.
You guys vanish into the shadows.
- Yes.
- Injured,
hurt
with a lot of information and
all of you
venture off into the forest.
You travel quickly to get away
from the surging of beasts
that surround this place and
eventually emerged from The
Sternwood in the
neighborhood of Galleyard.
You all can consult the map
to see sort of where that is,
but you're emerging sort of
just due East of The Sternwood.
And all the tieflings again,
kind of,
looking around,
see that there's like this
sort of like motherly looking
tiefling has like old
bearded tiefling man,
who's having a sort of harder
time walking is leaning on her
arm.
So some of the people that are
more like having a hard time
getting through the forest
have been helping each other.
But also look like
confused and turned around.
You guys all pile out
and being free of danger,
have a moment to process
what just happened?
What do you all do?
- "Do I know anyone around here?
"We need to lay low for a while.
- The, if you look at
the map, you can see the,
like the closest possible
hideouts to this,
to where you are due
East of The Sternwood.
Cannon court is not too far
from here with the Foundry,
but that's not necessarily a safe place.
Cheeses family home,
which is probably not a great place to be.
The ramble occurs to Sunny as an option.
You were also very near the gold gardens.
Myrtle puts her proverbial foot
down since she doesn't have
feet and says," If I'm staying
dry, we're staying somewhere.
"Nice."
- Yeah. All eyes turn to Bob.
Who's an employee of the
gold gardens who works there.
- "Well, I'm sure I
could get you a discount.
"Some of you could stay in my
room and maybe like we could
"bundle everyone up.
"And now that we've got Trixie
back Trixie rooms probably
"open too. And I'm sure
everything will be fun.
"And I know we're safe there
because I've got the security."
- "Do you think we'll have
access to that buffet too?
"I have heard great
things about the crab legs
on that buffet."
- They are so good.
- While, while they're talking,
I just lean over towards
Jack and I'm like,
"Oh, so I sold that.
Look, I know that Look,
"what's it to you?"
Jack has had this kind of
like haunted sown look in his
face,
this merge of like deep seated
betrayal and fury and his
eyes who briefly went like," Crab buffet."
"Oh, right, right.
"He was a good friend
of mine for a long time.
"It was my first night.
On my maiden voyage.
"But...
"Seems to me a lot of that was
false or at least changed and
"went ahead and sacrificed
We had his friends,
"for the purposes of whatever,
foul intent, all this is.
"So what do you means to me right now?
"Is vengeance."
- "You know what else?
That means, of course."
"this whole thing you got with
the gloom and the sorrow and
"the goes, you can let all that sh*t go.
"Because the thinking
that your vessels, weren't
"your fault."
- "You don't carry guilt this
long and have it evaporate
"like that.
"It stays as long as he lives."
- "Now, that's a language that I speak."
Can I do this sort of
like clap him on the arm?
- Marcid you, yeah.
You like the cut of this Jack's gib.
This is not a sad handyman
wandering the Bilge.
This is a man possessed of
rage and fury! Old Jack has
finally snapped. And
honestly, as Jack says,
that line of like the guilt
lives, as long as he lives,
the mist gathers around Jack's feet.
And you can see figures in the
mist, sharpening cutlasses.
And readying their blades.
- "Well, like I said, it's
all right when they have it
"coming."
- "Indeed. My mum always used
to tell me to turn the other
"cheek.
"I think now I realize if you
hit hard enough on one side,
"they'll turn it."
- Incredible. Bob leads all
of you to the Gold Gardens.
The Gold Gardens is one of the
few places in Leviathan that
is truly
lovingly tended to.
it is a campus of
vaudevillian and burlesque
and lights and dancing,
banners and streams, all this things.
It is a campus
of theaters
and venues and spas.
You see that there are
rooms and bars and taverns,
a whole campus of just delights
of the flesh and pleasures.
You see courtesans, walking, arm and arm.
With their clientele.
You see jugglers and acrobats,
people getting massages.
Some pirate is like,
"Oh, lower, lower, that's good."
Like healthcare stuff, like taking a bath.
It is a
bizarre
oasis of pleasure and
good times and healing
energy. As you walk in
Myrtle, I would say actually,
Myrtle and Sunny can go ahead
and give me religion checks.
- Okay.
- I got a natural 20
- As well I got an 11.
- Okay. So Myrtle,
what you recognize about this
place very simply is it's laid
out like a glyph.
The buildings are punctuated
with little white gravel
pathways in the stern.
This is a complex rune
made of the buildings here.
And it's a religious symbol.
It is a celestial rune.
So not exactly your vibe,
but what's interesting is it is from the,
orcish pantheon, this rune.
And in the same way that when you
have a God of the upper planes
and they have celestials that
work for them and fiends that oppose them.
Gruumsh One-Eye has his
fiends that worked for him.
And then weirdly orcish celestials
that are like the demons
of Gruumsh One-Eye
This orcish celestial runes
has been laid out in, is a
powerful sanctum spell. So
whatever entity is like, the,
the sanctum keeper of this
place is incredibly powerful on
the grounds of this campus.
You guys walked through the Gold Gardens.
You walk into a enormous
like wrap around bar.
Like it's, the bar has gotta be like,
like some incredible length
as it like zigzags in and out.
Everything is swirling and
loopy for like art deco. Yeah.
Dave.
- I would just say, as we're
even moving into this place,
I look at Sunny and Cheese and I'm like,
"Away you two keep an
eye on your coin purse
"and don't do anything we do.
Do what Jack does.
"But don't do what the rest of us do."
- Sunny. You have enough
religious knowledge from your
upbringing to probably have clocked this,
but the powerful adult sexual
energy in this place makes you
so uncomfortable.
That's just the like, it's like, okay,
those people are just
topless and making out.
And that was this doing a line
of like blue powder off of a
mirror and snorting it and, okay, cool.
I think for Cheese and
Sunny are kind of pure heart
characters.
I don't know what's going
through your guys head as you
enter into the Gold Gardens,
but it's a wild place.
- So have mercy
Oh boy.
- I think Cheese, just so
shell shocked that he's,
he's not even like taking
in. He's just like, okay,
where am I going? This take
me wherever I need to be.
Okay. He saw some messed up stuff today.
- Yeah. And also
Sunny still definitely has a
bell,
fused to her hand.
- Yes.
- There's a lot going on. Yeah.
- A lot going on.
- You're going to see
more messed up stuff. Lad,
don't worry.
- Hey that's an excellent point,
Marcid,
and a question for you too Cheese.
Are parents going to think we're dead?
Are you planning on going home
or are you planning on letting
your parents know that we're
definitely not going home tonight.
- Cheese gets this like jolt
of like fear and anxiety that
he normally would get when
he thinks of his parents,
you know, and like,
" Oh man, my parents, I gotta be home.
"They're gonna k*ll me."
And like, it completely washes away.
Like nothing matters anymore.
Like his, his world is rocked.
Like he's just like,
" I don't know.
"I don't know.
"Yeah."
- "I k*lled a guy today."
- "Oh my God yeah, you did."
- "Yeah."
- "Yeah. You see that jack guy."
- "I did."
- "He was asking for names."
"Names."
- "I know."
- "He wanted more information."
- "Before he just crushed him."
"Like he was nothing."
"I have blood and a demonic bell
fused on my hands.
"That's a lot to have on my hands."
- "I have." And he just
thinks, and he's like,
"I've only done one point
of damage this entire time."
- "We're gonna be so grounded."
- "My moments, I guess."
"Yeah."
- You walk through the swinging
doors of this beautiful.
It's a, you know, it's not even art deco.
It's the wrong term,
it's like art nouveau.
It's like, everything
is like swirling vines.
The marble bar is like swooped.
Everything is curving and
lovely. The whole place is lit,
like lit and styled, like
an Alphonse Mucha painting.
Like all of the servants have
like beautiful olive branches
in their hair.
The tables are all low and
there's cushions everywhere.
There's like topless coming
out as like little fried things
of goat's cheese,
little plates of honey and
like tahini dishes. You see,
there's some like falafel that
people are eating and you see
that as you walk in Myrtle,
there's a section by
the bar that is aquatic.
There's like a pool that you see.
There's like some Tritons
and merfolk hanging out in,
but they can just like
swim up and order a drink.
- Swim up bar
- Swim up bar.
- Swim up bar. You see the
proprietor looks up Bob,
as you enter.
You guys are covered in
blood and have 15 bamboozled
tieflings with you that are all
kind of just staring around.
You guys see the
proprietor Garthy O'Brien.
They are a non-binary half-orc
aasimar, harem pants, sort of
pointed slippers.
They have gold floral tattoos
and geometric celestial line
work. They are fully topless,
but almost have like a
shirts worth of gold jewelry.
Like armbands, rings, bangles, earrings,
like a little sort of
like septum piercing.
They have, they are
green, like a half orc,
but also are clearly aasimar,
as their eyes are
black pupils,
black sclera.
And then just in
metallic gold iris.
And then a little bit of like
metallic lipstick and eye
shadow on as well and a flop
sort of shaved sides and back
of the head and a flop of black hair.
And they have a pretty like
five and a half foot tall
falchion behind them,
double-handed falchion with gold
rings that have been clipped
into a series of holes,
carved into the back of the
blade so that it jangles as it
sort of swings.
But right now, sort of behind them.
You see guardians just
kicking it on a cushion,
smoking a hookah with some lovely looking,
very magical people.
They look up and go, aye Bobby, darl-
"Oh, hello! Okay!
And they stand up, walk over.
And they are, "My darling,
my pool, my virtuoso.
" I see that you've made some
friends. Hello, welcome to the
Gold Gardens.
"My name's Garthy O'Brien can
I be of some service to all of
"you?"
- " Well, I guess first and foremost,
"we have 14 people who should
probably find their way home,
"or at least find them a place to rest.
- She's got like," Marie."
"Richard." and it's just saying
different names. Garthy
looks at him as like,
"Like, do we feel like they're
in a great condition yet to
"like wend the merry way."
- "It's hard to say.
"Cause we kind of pulled them
out of a flaming lake and they
"were definitely probably being
used for like some sort of
"crazy ritual.
"And they just keep repeating names,
"like one name over and over and over.
"So it's kind of hard
to say if they're okay,
"they probably fine. Right?"
- You see that Garthy takes
their hands clasps them
sort of touch their fingers
back and forth and moves
this golden light over
the group for a moment.
It feels good.
Garthy turns to look at you Bob and says,
"Bobby darling, listen,
we love guests here.
"And in a right a series of hotels,
"so we're not unaccustomed to
foot traffic off the street,
"but you've made a lot of strange friends.
"Could you introduce me to
some of these fine people?"
- "Oh yeah. I just need ya help
because remember you told me
"you should go and find Trixie
because you didn't really
"believe. So, I went off to
find Trixie and I became a
"pirate for the day. And these
are my merry band or crew."
- "I have to make sure
I get everybody right.
"This is Sunny, 'n Sunny's
an aarakocra and is super
"nice and all super, super fun,
"very young and sweet. A guy
that's for hire to do m*rder,
"but he's actually really nice
and he's been super helpful.
"And we see this little guy,
his name is Cheese, he's so
"adorable, but he just makes
you want to protect him.
"Cause he's such a tiny little guy.
"You along with this are the right.
"No, you've heard of Myrtle, Myrtle,
"the b*tch, and love 'er to death.
"Love 'er to pieces, some fantastic.
"And now she came up outta
the sea and now she's here
"and she needs you, I think.
"And this is Jack and Jack
has like one of those really
sad backstories situations,
"but he's actually a
really kind guy at heart.
"He's just not really allowed to show it.
"And he's been having some
issues since a little while ago.
"He's still this guy and I'm
pretty sure he recognized the
"guy because he got pretty
upset and attacked another guy
"and made him see that his name was his.
"So anyway, these are my friends
and I did, I found Trixie,
"but I also found a whole
bunch of other tieflings.
"And I don't feel like
we should send them out
"when they don't really know
what's going on with the world
"right now. And they don't
really have their wits about 'em.
"So I think the best thing to
do would be first to set 'em
"up with rooms, ya know? Kindness
of ya heart 'n just let em
stay here."
- Garthy looks at Bob
after this epic speech.
"Lovely, darling.
"My angel... you've
explained this perfectly
"and I understand that completely."
"All right, Cullen? Yeah. We
got 15 tieflings here. Yeah?
"Well, I'll tell you this,
"these 15 tieflings is the
reason they're acting so out of
"sorts. Yeah. Obviously they've
got a mind because their
"bodies are moving. They
can walk and they can talk.
"What they don't have, at
present, yeah? Is souls.
"So can't let a bunch of
tieflings go wandering around the
"neighborhood with no souls.
"So we'll give him a bath
and some snacks. Yeah.
"And then, you know, I guess
try to get their selves back.
"Ultimately, as for your friends, my,
"my darlings, my loves,
"this is the Gold Gardens.
"Everything you could want
with desire is for you.
"Some of you I've met before."
You see Garthy looks over
at you, Myrtle, and is like,
"Oh, I can't believe it. The
honor, the immaculate honor to
"host The b*tch herself. Sweethearts."
You see, they look at you and go.
" By the way, dovey, you know the drill.
"I love you. You welcome all things. Yeah.
"But divinity within the Gold Gardens
is limited to that
"divinity. We bring ourselves
with our own bodies.
"I don't want a visit from
anyone up or downstairs.
"We understand. Yes."
- "That only happened the one time."
- [Brennan\} "Or not, but it
did happen extremely hard.
"And it was a mess and it
costs a lot of money to repair.
"So,
you see,
they say, could we get
this wonderful lady,
"a little bit of a drink
and some space in the pool.
You see, they look over at you Marcid
and sort of steeple their fingers.
"My friend, is this
something you want to ask me?
- Do I, I had, no,
I don't know Garthy but do I
at least know them by at least
reputation?
- He doesn't
have a reputation for sure.
- I slap the policy where,
of the building nearby.
That's going to be destroyed.
And I proceed to tell
Garthy everything like every
everything.
Like, because if we die tomorrow,
someone else needs to know
what's going on.
- So you see, they go,
" fantastic. Well,
in addition to being a lover of people
"and textures and experiences,
"I also am a rather
accomplished business person.
"So this is extremely alarming
"and speaks to a sort of rapid
"and unfortunate G*ntrification
of our dear city.
"These foreign conglomerates
are coming in and buying up all
"the lots, yeah?
"It's like, are we a pirate city?
"Are we at the mercy of these
kinds of trading companies?"
- "I heard a story once a
far-flung construct
"and a great w*r on a place
called Detroit with some sorts
"of robo-guardian of some sort
and they were by buying up
"everything so they can drive
down the land values and
"gobble it all up.
"But this time I think they
are going to just wreck it all
"and cash."
- "Oh dear.
"Well, I hate that.
"Dear lovies rooms, accommodations.
"We do not as policy charge
here at the Gold Gardens for
"people actively undertaking
efforts to save not only this
"establishment, but the
city at large. Yeah.
"It doesn't make sense as
against my business interests.
"If my entire establishment
goes under the waves.
"So we'll get you some
lemons. Get you in towels.
"Two lovely young ones.
Can I get you a pop?
"A cherry pop and grenadine,
yeah? Something sweet?"
- "Can you make a Shirley Temple?"
- " Darling, a Shirley Temple."
You see, they snap over
and this dwarven bartender
mixes, this thing up, passes
it up on a silver plate.
Comes over.
Garthy says, "For the lovely
miss...? Your last name
dovey?"
- "Biscotto."
"The lovely Miss Biscotto, put
on my tab and how old are you
love?"
- "18. Yeah, so basically legal."
- "All right. Understood."
"But are you from like a place
where an 18 year old could be
"doing all manner of
alcohols and dry? You know,
"it's a lot of places in
the world and the laws are
"different in all of them."
- "Yeah. Yeah. I mean,
I'm from, I'm from here.
"I'm from Leviathan,
first generation.
"Very, very proud of that."
- "Lovely. You know, a good
friend of mine lives up in
"Crow's Keep. Yes. Its nice,
Riggaba is a lovely neighborhood."
- "Its great. Yeah"
- You see, they look over
at you Cheese and say,
"And for you young master
a fizzy pop, a snack.
"I think we can make like
a, I can ask the kitchen
"Maybe we get some like
chicken nuggets. I don't know."
- "Just a pop, pop. I guess."
- "I'll have chicken nuggets."
- "You'd like
some chicken nuggets?
"Oh, can we get some chicken nuggets?"
See, they turned back around
and say," And a pop for the
young master. You look,
not 18,
fair to say?"
- "Yes."
- You see, they look at you and go,
" Darling and I mean
this with all respect."
They leaned down, put their
hands on either side of your
head, give you a chaste
little peck on the forehead
and a little gold rune appears
on your forehead.
And it's like,
" where so ever you go
here in the Gold Gardens,
"You are under my protection,
my heart bleeds for the young.
"And there are places here
that are not appropriate for a
"child. Yeah.
"Also that lets all the
bartenders know that you're 16.
"So no trying to order
anything. All right."
- "Yeah."
- "No funny business because
we had a group of high
"schoolers come back in here.
They did a bunch of snuff
"powder, they got blasted off
their asses and it was all a
"mess.
"So enough."
- "Yeah, I know, no, I have
no intention on doing any of
"those things. I just...
"a pop...
"Just someplace to go to
sleep would be great."
- "Wonderful. Yeah.
"We getting you the pop and
I know you have no intention
"now, but it's usually the
types like you that have no
"intention right now, but get
to college and absolutely go
"berserk. Right?"
- "You realize you're
giving the young ones the,
"to-do list right now. Garthy,
you know you do with that,
"with the talking."
- " Of course. I want them to do that.
"I'm like I've dedicated
my life to the, to-do list.
" So to-do list is great. Oh please.
"When you are of age,
avail, avail oneself.
"Yeah. Lovey. Of course.
You see, they look at you,
Jack, finally and say,
"Oh dear, you look like a man
and knees a drink, a massage,
"a show, a bed, a nice meal.
"A haircut? Maybe a delousing? And
a night with at least
"one, if not several, lovely companions.
"My dear lovely man, what is your name?
- "My name is Jack. Whatever you offer,
"I'll take it. I've never
seen a being more beautiful.
"Thank you for your hospitality.
"I've never been to a place s'nice.
"I don't know if I belong here.
"I feel bad that I'd being
anything in your presence, but
"I was outside of voice meant
inside again. I'm sorry."
- "Oh darling.
"You of course belong here and
"I would be
"More than happy to show you around."
And you see the Garthy
reaches out and does that sort
of familiar biceps squeeze
and arches their eye
over at Myrtle and goes,
"Oh my goodness. Alright, well
let's get a bath for the rat
"man. Yes."
- Can I jump in
with like a cutaway gag?
- Yeah, absolutely.
- It was there for that like
eye contact and then she's gone
in the next shot. And then
you just see her in the back.
She's in one of those like big burlesque,
like martini glasses,
full of water with a martini
just immediately ready to go.
- In a giant martini glass
kind of swirling around. Yeah.
Beautiful.
- Myrtle von Teese.
I like it. Yeah.
- All of you are washed up.
You're taken to your rooms.
You assemble one last time,
the tieflings are all brought
somewhere safe,
before you all either go
to bed or don't that night.
you see,
Garthy
just acknowledges with you and says,
"With everything you've told
me, the daughter of storms.
"Yeah. Those infernal lamps,
these tieflings with the
"Crescent Moon is up to.
Tomorrow's going to be a very
"important day."
And you see it they look at you
Sunny with the bell still in
your hand
going,
"I think you taking that bell
may well have saved this city
"or at least bought you
all enough time to save it.
"Tomorrow when you awaken and
are refreshed, I suspect that
"there may be a great deal more at stake
"rest well,
"eat well
"be well.
"And tomorrow we will try to
crack this case and figure out
"how best to save this
darling city that we all love.
"All right.
"There's some shots lined
up at the end of the bar.
"We got some more snacks outside.
"Show inside starts in 15 minutes
"Jack. I'll meet you upstairs.
Yeah me love?"
- "Of course. Friend,
Garthy. Whatever you say."
- I look at Sunny. And I just say,
"If you don't mind, Paladin,
I will sleep near you
to help
"keep an eye on this because
who knows who's going to come
looking for it."
- "Yeah, no, that'd be great."
I have to sleep with this
after sleep was a bell.
No, one's really addressed that.
- Well, I just pulled the yklwa out.
I'm like," There is a direct
approach of bell removal."
- "Wait to explore my options."
- "Right. You're better
off than you thought.
"And besides if something
terrible happens,
"Alycon'll wake us up.
"It's fine."
- "Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Sure."
- Those of you here the Gold
Gardens have a moment of
respite in the madness of this day.
You wend off to your merry way
and wait for whatever danger,
the morrow brings.
And that's it for this
episode Dimension 20
- We meet next week for
