(dramatic music)
(thunder booming)
(mice squeaking)
- Hello, one and all, and welcome
to another thrilling episode
of "Mice and m*rder".
I'm your humble Dungeon
Master, Brennan Lee Mulligan,
and with me as always
are our Sylvan Sleuths.
Say hi, Sylvan Sleuths!
- [All] Hi, Sylvan Sleuths!
- Oh, lovely.
g*ng, last we left off, it
was a Showdown in the Study.
It was a Hoedown in the Drawing Room.
It was the moment of revelation,
as gentleman, Detective
Sylvester Cross showed the world
that indeed, it was
not solely Mrs. Molesly
who could've been responsible
for the m*rder of Squire
William Thornwall Brockhollow.
No, indeed, with the revelation,
not only of Mrs. Molesly's
mole-centric epilepsy,
which, with bright light
stuns her into a period
of not being aware of her surroundings,
and of losing her short-term
memory for a spell,
we also found a number of clues
scattered throughout the Study.
A position of a knife with
a pronghorn antler handle,
the missing knife from
Buckster $. Boyd's ankle
in the paw of Squire Badger.
And last but not least,
the revelation of a secret door,
leading from the hallway into the Study.
So it was true that not
only could there have been
Mrs. Molesly and Squire
Badger within the Study,
there could have been someone
else coming in from the hall.
Making a quick assessment
of where everybody was
within the grounds,
we discovered that a number of suspects
came about right away,
including Vicar Ian Prescott,
left alone with the Lady Lucretia,
Buckster $. Boyd and Daisy D'umpstaire,
reading the notice of
Squire Badger's intent
to sell 50% of his share
in Buckster's oil business,
the skulking Gangie Green,
watching from the shadows
as the American interlopers
read their business document,
and, in fact,
Mr. Sylvester Cross and
Sergeant Lars Vandenchomp,
all of them unaccounted for
at the time of the m*rder.
- This is a pipe!
(Brennan laughs)
- I have one too.
- That's his motto!
- We now return, not only that,
but before the moment of the m*rder,
we saw the ghostly image
of Fletcher Cottonbottom
by the dock outside, and
the strike of lightning
that occurred on top of Loam Hall's hill,
witnessed only by Sylvester
Cross and Lars Vandenchomp.
We cut back now to the
Study inside of Loam Hall,
where Gangie Green, Daisy
D'umpstaire, Buckster $. Boyd,
Vicar Ian Prescott, Lars
Vandenchomp, Sylvester Cross,
Dr. Corbin Magpie, Constance
Brockhollow, and Mrs. Molesly
remain behind in the Study,
as Sylvester has just
followed up the revelations
within the Study, to confer
with Lars that indeed,
they have witnessed The Dead.
Everyone here, go ahead,
Lars, you were planning
to go watch the kitchen staff, I believe.
Everyone else, I think
that we had some plans
to attend to some other things,
that people here wanted to do.
I will go ahead and say
Constance is over the body of her father,
along with her husband.
They're very distracted, but
also focusing on the body here,
as Mrs. Molesly looks over.
The scene is yours, what do
you all do in this moment,
as Mr. Gilfoyle, the butler
begins to go with Colonel
Hawkins to lock up the estate?
Yes, Gangie?
- So I know that one of my main skills
is that I'm very good
with criminal contact.
- [Brennan] Mm-hm?
- And so my thought is,
can someone confirm for me
what happened to Fletcher?
Oh wait, I don't know about that yet.
- You do, no, you overheard
Lars and Sylvester
at the end of last episode.
- Oh, that's right, I do know.
- Go ahead and I will say this,
make a...
We're gonna make a perception
check for you in the past.
So go ahead and make a perception check,
and this will be for all
the rumors and gossip
that Gangie was able to overhear years ago
at the time of Fletcher
Cottonbottom's demise.
- I rolled a 26.
(Sam hoots)
- That's a gold star difficulty class.
Gangie, you were a Cottonbottom henchman
for a long, long time.
20 years ago, the Cottonbottoms
were a well-respected family.
Sir Ignatius Cottonbottom
was knighted by the king,
and was also the sort of
benefactor of the British Museum.
However, they, for all
their good standing,
were still engaged in
criminal enterprises,
and with the arrival of the sarcophagus
of the Pharaoh Salamander V,
Sir Ignatius attempted to pull off
the insurance fraud of the century,
foiled only by a young Sylvester Cross
in his very first caper.
Gangie, you ran afoul of Sylvester
many times over the years
working for the Cottonbottoms,
but after the Cottonbottom family
was completely disgraced and ashamed,
even though they got off legally,
you know Fletcher-
(Grant chuckles)
Even though Fletcher
Cottombottom survived his father,
the Cottonbottoms became this weird entity
of Fletcher being this high society person
who had all this dirt
on people and blackmail,
and a lot of family wealth,
but could no longer be seen
with anybody in public.
It was like the family was
a wraith, a ghost of itself,
able to pull on all these
favors and move in the shadows,
but because of Sylvester's unveiling
of their criminal enterprise,
they could never show their
face in the sunlight again.
Fletcher Cottonbottom became
obsessed with Sylvester
back in the day for ruining
his family's reputation,
ending the wave of occultism
that had kind of spread over,
because the whole point,
their plan was relying
on this sort of hoax of this
curse on the sarcophagus
in order for it to make sense,
and that all got debunked.
So what you know is that
six years ago, that's 1899,
Sylvester went after one of Fletcher's
big sort of criminal
schemes of moving munitions
through Bavaria, and this
is during the Schnauzer w*r,
which actually a young Lars Vandenchomp
was fighting in back at the time.
You had heard rumors
that the munitions trade
was actually a way for
Fletcher to move art.
You, one time heard about a score
with some crusty London gangster
ending up finding a Bavarian r*fle,
that, when it was broken open,
had a original painting rolled up
and hidden in the barrel of the g*n,
and making a very pretty profit.
- It's a good thing you rifled through it.
(Brennan cackles)
- Awful.
- Even in the exposition,
he can't resist.
- Gangie, Fletcher Cottonbottom
was a menace across Europe,
throughout all of the years,
there's an about 15-year
period, where he and Sylvester
were constantly at each other's throats.
Sylvester would busy his time with, like,
solving cases in and around London,
that were not part of
master criminal plots,
but anytime he pulled on a longer thread
that attached to
something more diabolical,
it would always lead back
to Fletcher Cottonbottom,
the Naponyan of crime.
Naponyan, by the way,
a pony, who was a French
emperor and general for a while.
- Always hid his arm weird in pictures.
- Naponyan!
- And because ponies
are smaller than horses,
there's such thing as
a "Naponyan complex".
- Heard that was a rumor,
he was actually a totally
average-sized pony.
(Brennan laughs)
- That's fair, no shame
in heights for horses.
- Brennan?
Let me ask you, so,
Gangie was working for Cottonbottom
this entire time, up
until Fletcher's "death"?
- Up until Fletcher's death,
I will leave it up to Gangie
how long Gangie would've
stayed, because Fletcher
was much more devious and
diabolical than his father,
but also like, moody and
irrational, extremely dangerous,
prone to wild, impulsive
swings of violence.
- But how did he pay?
- He paid well. Pay was good.
When Fletcher went under the falls,
what everyone sort of
assumed was that, you know,
Sylvester was a stronger
swimmer than Fletcher,
and of course, Sylvester
emerged from that fall
with a terrible injury,
from which he's never really recovered,
he's been using a
walking stick ever since.
But, Fletcher himself
disappeared under the waterfall
and his body was never
found, it was always assumed
that he had hit the water first
and either the impact had broken a bone
or knocked him unconscious
and he just (whooshes)
disappeared, and the money dried up.
What I will say is this,
and you got a 26, right?
- Yes.
- On your perception?
- I did.
- You were never the person
that the Cottonbottoms allowed
into their inner circle.
For all their criminal
activity, they were aristocrats,
and Gangie was always going to be
their dirty-work guy, right?
So you were usually getting your orders
from someone in the chain of command.
Starting about four years ago,
three, maybe four years ago,
Fletcher lost everything
when Sylvester found
the base of operations in Bavaria,
where he was running his
munitions dealing from.
(mysterious music begins)
About three or four years ago,
old henchmen of the Cottonbottom family,
the most trusted henchmen
of the Cottonbottom family,
started disappearing.
- Hm.
- No bodies found,
no one ever took credit for
k*lling them or offing them,
but the people that the
Cottonbottoms went to
over and over again,
and this is the kind of thing that,
if it was quiet in your criminal circles,
you have to imagine how
quiet it would've been
in anything like polite society.
People started telling ghost stories
about some kind of "Cottonbottom
Curse" back at that time,
that the people that had worked,
that had been the most
loyal to the family.
I don't imagine that
Gangie ever was worried
about being hyper, like,
if this was a curse that was affecting
those most "loyal" to
the Cottonbottom family,
that was never gonna be Gangie,
but I think the rumor of something
coming after those most
loyal to the Cottonbottoms,
maybe was a little helpful scoot to Gangie
in eventually taking a job
that would move him out of
London and into the countryside.
- [Katie] Interesting.
- And I will say this,
a curse is the most common explanation
for why those people went missing,
but criminals are a superstitious lot,
and it doesn't necessarily mean
that that's the full story.
For everyone left in the Study,
what is on your mind to do right now,
as people split up throughout Loam Hall?
- Is it possible that, I
guess what I'm wondering is,
I mean, we are essentially the
core suspects at this point.
Whether I'd be able to roll
like an insight check of some kind,
to see whether or not I think
any of our party is guilty.
I have no investigation, so
I'd be going purely on gut.
- Give me an insight check.
- That is an 18.
- Everyone else at the table,
roll deception for me,
if you'd be so kind.
- Deception.
- And text me your results,
don't say them out loud.
- Brennan, am I still in
the room, or did I jet out?
- Up to you.
Do you think Lars would have left
after conferring with Sylvester
about Fletcher Cottonbottom,
or would he have gone to the Kitchens
to get to the staff real quick?
- I don't really trust all
these people that are saying
that we're the main suspects,
so I would love to get a jump on,
and quietly follow everyone
back, without being seen.
- Awesome.
I think what you see
looking at everybody else,
you see...
Gangie is a total brick wall to you,
but I think that you
probably really don't think
Gangie did it.
Vicar is so befuddled and
flustered, no f*cking way.
Sylvester just doesn't
seem the type to you.
Daisy you were with,
so you know, you don't
have to insight her,
you know it wasn't her.
- I think I'm gonna try
to cozy up a little bit
to the Detective.
- [Brennan] Mm-hm. Great.
- Well, you might be out of luck,
because I think my next move
is to see where that secret passage leads.
- Incredible.
- "Well now, Detective,
you don't need to be a man of your caliber
to know that that passage
leads right out into the hall."
- Quite, quite.
(Sam clears his throat)
(Grant sucks on his pipe)
He's right.
- "Now, Detective Cross,
I've been a fan of yours from
overseas for quite some time.
Why, I think I run my business
a lot like you run yours,
with utter pragmatism.
I tell you now, beast to beast,
this m*rder was not my
doing, nor was it the doing
of one Daisy, for she was with me.
Now, I don't have your
investigative talents,
I'm a pig of gut,
but if I share information with you,
maybe you can do more with it than I can."
- By all means, "Pig Guts",
tell me what you know.
(Raphael laughs)
(Sam clears his throat)
- "I have an informant inside this house,
a Gangly Green's been working for me."
- "Hey. I don't know nothing." (laughs)
(Sam laughs)
"I don't know nothing! Leave me alone!"
(Sam clears his throat)
- "And I know, without greater context,
that Gangly's been robbing graves
on the behest of the Squire,
the now late Squire.
I don't know why he's
been ordered to do so."
- I'm gonna pause us here real quick.
You guys are in the Study right now,
with the dead body of Squire Brockhollow,
and Constance and Dr. Magpie.
- Oh, is this too, it's
too public, got it.
- No worries, but I think it
would probably occur to...
I think it might occur to Buckster
that this is a little bit
out in the open right now.
- Got it, got it.
Then all I'll leave it as-
- Can we-
- I was gonna say, what
I'll leave it as is,
"I think you and I could
form a partnership."
- Now Buckster and I do
have a bit of a shorthand,
an ability to talk to each other.
Could we talk openly,
but with our you know,
in our innuendo style,
or are there too many other rogues around
who might be able to pick
up on what we're saying?
- I think you guys could actually
speak in Thieves' Cant right now,
which is effectively what
you're talking about,
with confidence at least that,
with confidence that Constance and Corbin
would not be able to understand you,
nor do you think the Vicar
would be able to understand you.
Gangie and Daisy are
another thing entirely,
and to my understanding,
unless anyone else wants to correct me,
Lars is the only one who's
left the room thus far.
I actually need to check in
with Katie, Raph, and Rekha.
I presume, that seeing Buckster walk over,
you guys are not just
standing inert in the Study,
looking straight ahead into
the distance, so, like,
as Buckster goes over
to speak to Sylvester,
you're either paying attention to that
or to Constance grieving
over her dead father.
- I'm paying attention to Buckster.
- Cool, so Buckster, you see
Gangie step to your side.
Daisy?
- I'm trying to decide between two things.
One, oh my God, wait, Sam, what? Text me.
- No no no, I was reacting to the fact
that Gangie had sidled up next to me.
- One of two things.
One, I still want to know
if this is really, sorry,
the Squire's body, but I also realize
that every instinct I've
had has been incorrect, so
(Ally laughs)
my other option,
my other option is I
have this key hidden away
and Sylvester is, for once,
not looking towards me,
and I heard a little birdie,
and remembered that Fletcher
worked in stolen art,
and I have a portrait to see
about in the Seance Room,
that I've been meaning to check in on.
- Yes you do.
- So is this my time
to duck away, can I do that?
- I believe this is
your time to duck away.
- Perfect.
- Go ahead, if you would be so kind,
and give me a stealth check.
- Okay. I bet I'll roll pretty poorly.
12!
- 12.
- You fart as you're trying to leave.
(all laughing)
- Yeah, I fart and
everything out of my purse
falls behind me.
- Rekha, these rolls,
I truly apologize for.
These are no good.
Go ahead and give me an insight check,
if you would be so kind.
- Okay.
A 10.
- Oh my God.
- Rekha, Rekha.
- You have great stats and skills!
I don't know what's going on.
(Raphael laughs)
Okay.
So, Gangie steps over with
Buckster and Sylvester.
What is the Vicar doing?
- Okay, so what I would like to know is,
can I have the Vicar go over
to the body, where Constance is
and close the eyelids over the body,
do a prayer, and then in that moment,
would I be able to perceive
more about the wound,
the messy wound with the
intricate or precise-
- Yes, absolutely you would.
First of all.
- Okay.
- You go ahead and say
a prayer over the body.
Go ahead and make a persuasion
check with advantage for me,
if you would be so kind.
- Disgusting.
I rolled a four and then I rolled a five.
(Rekha groans)
- Damn!
- What is happening?
- Dang.
- I know, the people
we need to do well.
- I'm a very influential man.
- So how does the Vicar really
f*ck up this last rites?
(Raphael cackles)
- Maybe all his feathers
fall off and, like...
- Really f*ck up these last
rites next to the body,
right in front of Constance
and her husband, Corbin.
- "This was your husband, no?"
Oh, wait a minute.
- "My father!
This was my father."
- "I'm so sorry, I'm
so sorry, I'm so sorry.
You just seemed so close.
(Grant chortles)
But still, this is an awful
thing that has happened."
- Implied incest in doing
the rites is pretty bad!
Wow, you seem really close
for a father and a daughter.
- "This is an awful thing that took place,
but I'm sure he's with the Lord now."
- "Yes, yes, Vicar, I am certain.
I appreciate you coming over
here to offer condolences.
I know that there is no love
lost between my father and you,
and so thank you, thank
you, thank you, Vicar."
- "You're welcome. It's really
my duty and life's work.
No problem at all."
- Shut up, shut up!
Stop talking, stop talking!
- Daisy? What is she saying?
- Wrap it up.
- Okay, go ahead and give me,
if you're looking at
the wound specifically,
I'm gonna ask for a medicine
check with disadvantage.
- Okay.
Oh, this is gonna be awful.
All right, that's a five.
- What's the matter
with all of you?
- What the hell?
- You're regurgitating owl pellets.
- Damn, and that was a 17,
so we're taking the five.
- Okay, taking the five.
Raph, go ahead and describe for me
how Vicar Prescott jams
his feathery fingers
into the hole
(Raphael cackles)
in Squire Badger's chest.
- Okay, so,
the Vicar is, as he's looking at the body
and the eyes wide open,
just staring at him,
he shakes his head, puts
his feathers over his head,
down to the knife, accidentally
takes the knife out,
and then shoves it right back in.
Then shoves it back in.
- You see, you take the
knife back into your hand.
You see Constance goes,
"What in God's name are you doing?
You sick man! You sick freak!"
- "No, I was putting it back!
I made a mistake and I
was trying to correct it!"
- You see that Dr. Magpie goes,
"Um, kindly release that knife,
kindly release that knife.
I am not an expert in
forensics, like Mr. Cross.
I can tell you
that touching the m*rder weapon
to ensure that you would have an alibi
should your fingerprints be
discovered on the handle,
in front of two people watching,
while you are already a
suspect, Vicar Prescott, is...
What's the word I'm looking for, darling?
Conspicuous."
- "I'm not that smart! Trust
me, I am not that smart!"
- Vicar Prescott's hands are feathers,
so he just erased whatever, not even just-
- He just dusted it!
He just dusted all the-
- You cleaned it!
- "Look, look, I'll make it right again,
I'll make it right again!"
- No, no!
- "Stop, stop, stop, stop!
You're splashing blood all over the room!"
- What?
- "You're splashing it,
you're splashing! Oh, God!"
- "Everyone calm down,
everyone calm down!"
- [Ally] You're just like a
Swiffer Sweeper that's, like-
- [Rekha] Look at the animation!
- [Ally] Cleaning the whole
room with your feathers.
- "Oh, the room, it's
all over, look at it!"
- So you tampered with
the blood splatter, too.
- "For the love of God,
okay, everyone calm down!
Just calm down!
You drink the blood of
Christ every Sunday."
- "Chill! Hey man,
chill! You have to chill!
Quit saying weird sh*t like
that, you have to chill!"
- Constance Brockhollow,
who is a model of restraint and civility,
looks in your eyes, and like I described
in the scene with Sam
in the Billiards Room,
the corners of her eyes
get bloodshot and she goes,
"Father, f*ck you!
I don't know whether you
m*rder*d my father or not,
but one way or another,
I'm going to see you pay
for this insult!" (snorts)
And Dr. Magpie says-
- Honestly, called for.
- "Now now, dear, now now,
dear, now now, now now now."
So that went pretty bad, Raph.
While that's happening-
- Welcome to D&D.
(all laughing)
- Oh my God, Raph!
- Believe it or not,
it is very good that
you tried to do stuff.
That was absolutely the right move,
you were not wrong for
attempting that stuff,
sometimes the dice come up low.
So that, however, is the perfect cover
for our three rogues, Buckster,
Gangie, and Sylvester,
to all discuss.
Every single one of you notices
Daisy slip out of the room.
- Yes.
- With a conspiratorial look.
What you do with that
information is up to you
as you notice Daisy leave.
- Do we all notice each
other notice Daisy leave?
- I'm going to say yes,
actually, you all do.
- Okay.
- "I think we should follow her."
- "I intend to follow you for
quite some time this evening."
- "Well, if
the two of you are making your way,
don't mind if I tag along."
- "Yes, it would appear that
you've been tagging Daisy
for quite some time, eh?"
- "Oh, come on!"
- "Now look here..."
- "Do you know what I mean by that?"
- "Oh, shut up already!"
- "I'm able to read
between the lines."
- "Okay, I think we got bigger problems."
- "You have bigger problems! I'm sorry.
I'm sorry, a man has died,
you're absolutely right."
- If you'll...
Just trying to get oriented here,
have Detective Cross and I had our moment,
where I've inferred that we should collab,
or have we not yet?
- I think you guys had
that at the bar, honestly,
where you were like on the same page.
But yeah, you have not yet had that moment
where you've been secret together,
but I think you can
definitely get to some privacy
if you go follow Daisy.
- Cool, cool, I'm actually trying to see
if I can sneak Gangie
aside for a conversation.
- Cool.
- Me?
- [Brennan] I think Gangie and...
Sorry, say that again, Sam?
- I'm trying to see if
I can sneak Gangie away
for a conversation.
- Well if you sneak Gangie,
Sylvester will have to stay and watch,
so that'll keep them away
from me, so I'm fine with it.
- No, I want to follow Daisy.
- I actually think
that I probably agree with following Daisy
for a number of reasons,
not least among which is,
I wanna hang out with Daisy.
- Gotcha, so Sylvester I think probably,
so Sylvester, if you take off after Daisy-
So yes, Buckster has not yet been able
to like, have that
Thieves' Cant reconnoiter,
because Daisy left right
at the top of everything.
So, Buckster, you still need
to have your like "mano a mano"
with Sylvester,
but it looks like Sylvester,
you wanna head out the door
after Daisy.
What do Gangie and Buckster
wanna do as that happens?
- I wanna follow Daisy.
- Okay, so Buckster,
you watch the two people
you're trying to talk to,
take off up the stairs.
(Grant and Katie laughs)
- Well, great.
(Grant and Rekha laugh)
Always in the market
for a good conversation!
- To be fair, I was the first person
who said to follow Daisy.
- Yes.
- But that leaves me in the room?
- Leaves you in the room with the Vicar,
who is currently bombing out
with Constance Brockhollow and Dr. Magpie.
You turn to watch the
end of that interaction.
- Cool, I'll see if I
can lend my services here
to the Vicar for a moment.
(clears throat)
"Vicar, I've seen what you've done,
and I know that this is a ritual,
that in the modern-day Church
is all about respect for the dead
and the way that they passed.
We of modern Churches in America,
we see these routines all the time,
where the means of death is reenacted
out of respect for the
death and their passage.
I just want to say I appreciate your work,
even if that work may fall
among deaf ears here."
- "That is so kind of you
to say, thank you so much.
I really-
People forget that even
us in the Ministry,
as it is our job to give encouragement,
people sometimes forget
that we also need to receive it as well,
so your words are very much appreciated."
- "May I..." (clears throat)
"May I steal you away for a moment?"
- Oh, yes, please! Oh my God!
Lord have mercy!
- Incredible.
Buckster, give me a
perception check real quick.
- Ooh, 26.
- For the first time,
Buckster, for the first time,
you look down and see your
knife in Squire Badger's hands.
(Raphael sniggers)
- Cool, cool cool cool.
(all laughing)
- Cool, you walk away with the Vicar,
and we're gonna cut over
to Lars in the Kitchens.
Lars, you wanted to head over
to the Kitchens a little bit.
What are you looking
for in particular here?
- So, I don't know how to explain it,
but I think Gilfoyle
is interesting to me.
- Cool.
- I think with my kind of
like military w*r background,
I'm used to just kind
of like guarding a post
and just like sit and wait
for like a good long time,
and I imagine that's how like me and...
Me and Sylvester work, so I'm just kind of
off to keep tabs on a
whole area of the house,
so I would love to get to
the Servants' Quarter area,
but like, be hidden and watch.
- Awesome.
Carlos, can we move Lars
to the Kitchen Wing?
- New room!
- New room!
- New room!
- Uh-oh.
- Oh, this is great.
- It's so creepy.
- I like it.
- It's too long.
- Long things are creepy.
- This room is too long.
- Too long!
- You enter a hallway
back behind the staircase
from the Entrance Wing.
You hear lots of little
mice maids running around,
you hear people talking and whispering,
and people are shaken, the Lord
of the Manor's been k*lled.
You see a number of doors,
and at the end of the hallway,
you see a large freight elevator,
a like very old-timey freight elevator.
- [Ally] "I think they said
they turned this off, yes?"
And I go up to the elevator
to make sure that it's been shut down.
- [Brennan] Cool.
Go ahead and give me
an investigation check.
- I mean, I'm much more strong,
can I just kind of punch it?
(all laughing)
Okay, that's a 16.
- 16 investigation?
The elevator, to the best
of your knowledge, is off.
You see there's like
a little sort of empty
wheelbarrow in there,
you see that there is...
You see that there's like some, you know,
mud from boot prints from like porters
bringing stuff in and out of the house,
and I think on a 16 investigation,
you see that yeah, it has been turned off.
You see that there is
a little sort of key,
little keyhole kind of
thing that has been,
there's like a cabinet
that has been locked,
but inside it, you see
there's like a breaker fuse
that has been thrown,
to like take it off of the electricity.
- Okay.
Then I'd love to explore
one of these rooms.
Is there a way for me to kind of like,
get a peek inside before entering in, or?
- Yeah, give me a perception check.
- Really out of my element here.
Oh, this is all right.
- What's that?
- 15.
- 15, awesome.
15, as we've said, is bronze medal status,
so I'm gonna make you-
I know which of these doors,
(Rekha gasps)
(Katie gasps)
is the important one,
and on a 15, I'm only gonna let you listen
to what's happening behind one of them.
You hear
the calm voice of Mr. Gilfoyle
speaking to Mr. Harding and what sounds
like a larger group of
staff within the Kitchen,
which is the door you are right next to.
From the farthest door, weeping,
the sound of someone crying.
And from the middle
door, you hear nothing.
You have to tell me which of
those three doors you go up
to put your ear against.
- Oof.
- I'm going to have to
go with the middle door.
- Ooh!
- Ally, ooh!
- Wait, the "nothing door"?
- You walk up to the "nothing door",
because indeed,
Lars does have a soldier's
insight and a sense of danger.
All of the information you
would get from someone weeping
you already got, weeping
is its own message,
and any message that can be
given to a large group of people
is not a message that
will contain a secret.
You go to the door where you hear nothing,
and the reason you heard
nothing by the elevator
is it's not until you push
your pointed Doberman ear,
your bowler hat in hand, against the door
that you hear the whispering
of Edwina and Carolyn.
- Those stupid little mice!
- Hell yeah.
- Those dumb mice.
- The m*therf*cking mice.
- Those m*therf*ckers!
- They were not playing hooky!
They're criminals.
- They're criminals I know it.
- We're all criminals.
- Lars, you m*therf*cker!
- Now does Lars...?
So a few of us overheard through the vents
what was going on with
Buckster and the Squire.
Was Lars, does Lars know
who Edwina and Carolyn are?
- Lars, you find out,
because the very first thing
that Edwina and Carolyn talk about
is exactly the confrontation that happened
between Buckster and Squire Badger.
However, you get the information
that nobody else got,
which is they're talking about
if they should give the money
back that Buckster paid them,
not to say a word.
Now what's gonna happen,
now what's going to happen is,
as their conversation continues,
because you can listen
for as long as you'd like,
the first thing I'm going to do
is I'm going to roll a luck
check in the Box of Doom,
because this is a busy
hallway in the Kitchen Wing,
and people come down it all the time,
and seeing one of the prime suspects
with their ear pushed up against a door,
might not look exactly innocuous.
You want, going to the Box of Doom,
you want a high number, not a low number,
Sergeant Vandenchomp.
(tense music)
(dice rolling)
11. Exactly average.
Now, what we're gonna
go ahead and do is this.
I'm going to allow Lars,
for you to make a stealth check for me,
and I'll allow you to
do it with advantage,
'cause all you're doing is
paying attention right now.
- Okay.
So, stealth.
An 11.
- Oh, man.
- Cool.
You turn around, on an 11.
So you turn around to see,
to see Mr. Gilfoyle
walk out of the Kitchen
with some of the staff
following him and say,
"Sergeant Vandenchomp, what
brings you to the Kitchens?
Is there anything I can do to help you?"
- "Ja, I was hoping I could get a beer.
My nerves are through the roof and ja,
if I could just have a
Hefeweizen or something,
it doesn't even have to be that nice."
- "I believe Mr. Banks in the Ballroom
may have what you are looking for.
We understand that people
are not allowed to leave,
so we are bringing out spare furniture
for people to rest on.
Obviously there will be
no dancing this evening,
but food and libations
are available to you.
We don't know how long we're
all going to be here for."
- "Hm, okay.
Yes, I must have gotten a bit lost."
- Go ahead and give me a deception, Lars.
- "Hm!
Hm, just so lost, uh-oh.
(laughs)
Oh no."
Nat 20, b*tch!
- You're f*cking kidding!
- Nat f*cking 20!
- Wow, k*ller lie.
- It's so weird, because
on D&D Beyond it's a B,
so I was like-
- Yes, it is confusing.
- I was like, oh, sick,
that's a good thing.
- Incredible.
- Busted.
- So you see that Mr. Gilfoyle goes,
and just underestimates you, like,
the reason your lie works
is that you're kind of
just this like foppish,
pink-tuxedoed Doberman Pinscher,
so you see Mr. Gilfoyle says,
"Sergeant Vandenchomp,
I completely understand.
Loam Hall is a little bit of a labyrinth."
- "Maze, yes, exactly."
- Absolutely.
The door opens next to you,
and you see Carolyn and
Edwina both looking out,
they look up at you, and
with your nat 20 deception,
you just give them those puppy dog eyes
like you didn't hear anything,
and they don't suspect anything
and rush off down the hall
to go about their business.
Incredible. Give me one
last perception check.
With that nat 20, I'll say go
ahead and roll with advantage.
- Woo! Okay, come on baby, come on.
- Come on, baby.
- Ooh, 20, not nat.
- Dirty 20, awesome.
You look into the little
sort of mousy maid room
through the open door as they come out,
and within that room of theirs,
you see a pillowcase under
a little stack of linens,
probably some laundry
or something like that,
but you see the tiniest little
glint of silverware in there
as though these maids have
maybe helped themselves
to some of the good silver.
- They're bad!
- We are going to cut now
back to Daisy D'umpstaire.
- D'ump!
- D'ump!
- You arrive back at the Seance Room.
- Yes.
- You have two rounds
before Gangie and Sylvester
follow you into the room.
- Okay.
- But you sneak upstairs.
You can hear noises coming
from around the house,
coming not only from this Leisure Wing,
but also from down the hall in
the like Master Bedroom Wing,
coming from the voices of
Jeremy and Osmond down the hall,
who obviously like have
rooms here and live,
it's like a family estate.
So you're realizing as
you're like, sneaking around
that this place is like a
little bit more populated,
so it's gonna be more important than ever,
to like, be on your guard.
There's not gonna be a lot of wings now
that are like unpopulated.
- Yes.
- [Brennan] However,
you dip into this room.
You have two rounds of doing stuff.
What do you do the second
you get into the room?
- [Rekha] I got to check out this painting
and see what the f*ck is up with it.
- [Brennan] Hell yes, give me
another investigation check.
- Cool, I bet it's a zero.
Wow, 11.
- Better than zero!
- Cool, you notice once again,
that the painting is completely
bolted into the wall.
You are looking all around the frame.
It is impossible to move.
I will say on your second round, give me,
'cause the last thing
appraised was that this thing
had been retouched or repainted.
- Yes.
- That the frame was older
than the portrait.
- Yes.
- So you've used your investigation.
I will allow you to use another skill.
So your investigation
doesn't yield any results,
but I will allow you to
use another skill here.
I will also say,
this is funny 'cause you just
failed your investigation roll
your investigator feat would
allow you on the second round
to re-roll your investigation
roll from earlier,
if you wanted to try and
get that DC 20 or DC 25
now that you're up close and personal.
So you can either go to a different skill
and try to get different information,
or you can re-roll that
earlier investigation check.
- Oh my God, what do we think, guys?
One is more interesting to watch,
but it's less likely I'll do it or get it.
- Come on, you can do
it, believe in yourself!
- Yeah, I think go for it.
- Okay.
- You're just as good as Sylvester!
- Exactly, here's what Daisy's thinking.
Daisy has not been herself
since she laid eyes upon
Sylvester at this Manor.
She feels the reasons she
left him coming to surface.
Reasons she hasn't really
necessarily explained to him,
that yes, the things that she is good at
waver in his presence,
and when you are with someone
who stands for so much good,
how can she be a criminal around him?
So, you're with the
person that completes you,
but when he completes
you, you are not yourself.
- Wow.
- And that's what she realizes,
as she stares boldly at
this painting and says,
"I'm going to investigate it again."
- Please roll this with advantage.
Please roll this with advantage.
- Nice.
- Okay.
Okay, we have one 14, now
I'm gonna roll it again.
Okay, wow, what is the
equivalent of doing this?
25.
- Hell yes!
That is a gold medal difficulty!
- That's great!
- Ooh, when the dice cooperate, baby!
- Okay, Daisy licks the
trash off of her hands,
she's so excited.
- Daisy, you look up and
think, "How can I be myself?
How can I see myself,
when I'm so wrapped up in
my feelings for another?"
And as you think about your
relationship to your identity,
are you, you've always been
good, but are you good?
You look up and look into the eyes
of the sort of medieval badger lord,
and let go for a moment
of this mounting pressure,
and instead just look, have
a moment of being pensive,
and looking into the eyes of the portrait,
and as you look into the
eyes of the portrait,
one of the eyes swivels just a little bit,
(Katie gasps)
in the painting.
You think that those eyes in the painting.
- Squire Badger.
- Yeah, you think that
those eyes in the painting,
you think that maybe
they don't always stay
in that painting,
and at that moment the door opens,
and Sylvester and Gangie
walk into the room.
- "Son of a b*tch!"
(all laughing)
- "I assume you're
talking to Gangie Green."
- "Hey, me mum died! Me mum died!"
- "I'm sorry, I didn't realize."
- "Everyone knows that about me, okay?
I was in an orphanage."
- "That's fair, yeah,
maybe she was a b*tch."
- "Did you guys come in here to bicker,
or do you have a reason
for following me around?"
- "Do I need a reason
to follow you around?"
- "I guess it's what you're good at."
(Grant grumbles)
- "I suppose I just came in to see
if anything became of your key."
- "Well, I reckon I haven't had a minute
to even do anything with it, but..."
- "So you admit it. You stripped a key."
- "You saw me, b*tch, I saw you see me."
- "Oh you, don't you talk to me that way,
don't you dare talk to me that way.
If anyone's a b*tch, it's Gangie's mom."
- "Hey, come on!
Me mum's dead!"
- "Gangie's mom is a b*tch!
This is fact!"
"Gangie's mom's a b*tch."
- "I didn't even know my mom!"
- "Yes, we know!"
- "I did not know my
mum, you cannot do that,
that's really rude."
- "Yes, Gangie, I can tell-"
- "I know your mom, I'll tell you
one dang thing about her."
- "No, you don't know my mum.
I don't know my mum."
- "Gangie, a woman's intuition
never lies,
I look at you and I know your
mom's a b*tch, I'm sorry."
- "That's right, that's
right. A big dead b*tch."
- "What key are we talking about?"
- "Well, not that it's-"
- "Daisy Dumpster..."
- "D'umpstaire!"
I find something else in this
room and I throw it at him.
- Go ahead and make an attack
roll, if you'd be so kind.
- Ooh, how do I do that?
Is that an unarmed strike?
- Yes, go ahead and
just do unarmed strike.
- What the f*ck? A 23.
I rolled a nat 20, it's a nat 20.
- You rolled a not 20? Oh my God!
- You crit on him!
- You crit on Sylvester!
Sylvester, you get brained in the head
for four points of damage.
- "I'm so sorry!"
- Oh no, oh no!
- "We need him!"
- I think Daisy,
you're so pissed, you grab
the full crystal ball,
but forget that it's a shitty,
it's from 1800s Party City,
so the sharp metal
stand is attached to it,
it's not a real crystal
ball, and you just throw it
and a sharp spike of metal just goes right
into the side of Sylvester's head.
- Why is this the first nat 20?
(Grant groaning in pain)
- "Oh, I was wrong,
there are two b*tches."
- "Do you want to go for round two?"
- "Oh, God, no, never mind!"
- I think Daisy is genuinely
astonished that she did that,
but is trying to play it
cool like she totally meant
to do that much damage.
- Gotcha. Incredible.
Cool, all three of you find yourselves
in this room real quick,
but without Buckster,
who was trying to initiate
that conversation downstairs.
We are gonna cut from the
Seance Room, actually,
to Buckster and the Vicar as
you guys step out of the Study
down in the Entrance Hall.
Buckster, where are you
taking the Vicar off to,
to go talk with him, and
would it occur to you
to try to like coordinate with
Daisy, your partner in crime,
so to speak?
- Yes, for sure, I'm
laughing at Rekha's texts.
Yes, for sure.
I think first with my arm around the Vicar
I wanna take the Vicar
out into the hallway
through the secret passage.
If I'm doing so, am I essentially standing
on the broken glass that's there?
- Oh, you're gonna take the
Vicar out into the hallway
through that open secret
passage, yes yes yes.
The broken glass is like impossibly fine.
It's like nat 20 fine.
- Got it, so I wouldn't see it.
- You might notice a
little bit of a shimmer
from that part of the thing,
but this secret passage,
it's the kind of thing where
there's like a chalky dust
underneath of like the stone
moves ancient wall, like
the threshold is scraped,
'cause unlike a normal
doorway, there's not, like,
it has to be flush to the
ground to be hidden, so no,
I don't think Buckster would
notice it, but you step off.
- In that case, I want
to turn to the Vicar
and I wanna say, (clears throat)
"Now, Vicar, you and me both know,
innocent man to innocent man,
that we have a duty to each other
to try to get to the
bottom of this mystery,
don't you think?"
- "I agree that we do need
to get to the bottom of it,
and I agree that I am innocent,
so yeah, we're cool, we're cool."
- "Vicar, as you are,
if I were to read to you
the names of the dead,
you might be able to tell
me what they had in common,
wouldn't you?"
- "I know!"
- What?
Is Gangie, uh... Hold on.
I feel like I can hear Gangie.
- Gangie is not here
right now, unless Buckster
takes you to the Seance Room
with everybody, but yes, I
think Vicar is very confused
by this idea of like,
the "names of the dead".
- "For instance, Vicar,
if I were to read to you
a list of names, five
off the top of my head."
- "Mm-hm?"
- "Brock Burrows, Jane
Burrows, Michael Burrows,
Agnes Burrows, Edith Burrows,
would you be able to tell
me what they had in common?"
- I am going to,
I'm going to need
a history check with advantage
from Father Ian Prescott.
- Yes, sir.
First one is 13. Goddammit!
Second one is- Oh my Jesus!
Oh, 15! Oh, so if I-
Oh, that's a seven, not a one.
It looked very close.
All right, so anyway, it's a 15.
- I would know what the ones look like.
- Stop it!
- Is there a way to boot
someone out of the call?
- Yeah, yeah.
You just have to hit them with something
until we k*ll him.
(Grant laughs)
- Okay.
- You accidentally k*ll me.
- So it's 15.
- Yes, absolutely.
Father Prescott, you're aware
not of these first names,
but you are aware of the name "Burrows".
You, in being in touch
with the sort of ecclesiastical community,
the Burrows family
was a working class family of
badgers about two towns over,
that, within the span
of about like a week,
all died of a highly
contagious consumptive illness.
It was very, very sad.
They lived on a family farm together.
There were no active children there.
Everybody there were adults,
but it was basically like,
an older father and mother
and their adult children
and some of the children's spouses,
farmers, people that lived off the land,
but that's what you would know on a 15.
- Okay so,
"Why, yes, yes, those
names do ring familiar.
I was familiar with the
family name, of course,
and if you're asking me
what they all had in common,
it is that they were all related
and faced an untimely demise."
- "Is that a fact?
And, the name "Diggory", Martin
Diggory, Samantha Diggory,
would they have met the
same untimely demise
from the same unfortunate disease?"
- "Hmm, Martin and Samantha, you say?"
Wait, should I roll again?
- Give me another history check. Hold on.
- With advantage or no?
- With advantage, yes.
- Okay.
Ooh, 22.
And yeah, we're going with 22.
The second one was 16. 22.
- Martin and Samantha Diggory,
you've met personally.
There was a bad carriage
accident in a storm.
Martin and Samantha
Diggory were both badgers.
- Mm-hm.
"Ah, yes, yes yes, I
remember, a very kind couple.
Just an awful thing that happened to them.
Yes, yes, I do remember them very well."
- "Father, these Burrows
and these Diggorys,
what type of beast were they?"
- "Well, the Diggorys were badgers,
and the Burrows, I think,
were in the digging family."
Wait, what were the Burrows?
- Badgers. They were badgers.
- They were both badgers?
- All f*cking badgers!
- They were both g*dd*mn badgers!
"They were both blessed badgers."
- "Thank you, Father,
you've been very helpful,
peace be with you,"
and I zoom down the hallway
in the direction of Daisy.
(all laughing)
- "Wait, I thought we were friends!"
- "We're friends, we're
friends! We're good friends!"
- Friends!
- Incredible. You zoom off.
Vicar, you're welcome to
follow Buckster if you wish.
- Okay, yeah, yeah, let me do that.
"Okay, okay, I was just checking."
- "We're not that close!
We're not that close!"
- Lars, you see Buckster
hoofing it up the staircase
followed by the Vicar as you
emerge from the Kitchen Wing.
- I follow.
- Oh my God, everybody's crashing.
- Everyone crashes into the
Seance Room, closes the door,
and as you do so, you see
bleeding from the head
is Sylvester Cross.
- "Sylvester!"
I run forward.
"Who did this?"
(Ally barks)
- "I'll tell you who did it,
his bad mouth and bad manners did it."
- "In what way?"
- "This idiot lady threw something at me."
- "Do you love each other?"
- "Okay.
You've got a screwy
relationship with love."
- "The flirting is off the
charts, I just have to say it,
I know we've all been thinking it."
- I think I sort of like, sidle
up in the direction of Daisy
and try to give her eyes and I say,
"Now Daisy, when you hold
the key to someone's heart,
you'd best be careful with it."
And I sort of motion with my hand very low
in a direction that I'm
hoping only she can see
to hand me the key.
- Yeah, can I sleight of
hand give him the key?
- I'm gonna need, let
me get sleight of hand
from Daisy and deception from Buckster.
- Can I roll a perception to
see if I can pick that up?
- You absolutely may,
but hold on one second,
'cause we're gonna give you
the average of these two rolls.
- Ooh!
- Deception from Buckster and
sleight of hand from Daisy.
- 17.
- 26.
- 17 and 26, hold on one second.
- I have a +8 deception.
- I am gonna need a 22 DC
perception to notice that.
- Can I also roll?
- [Brennan] Yes, Gangie can roll as well.
- 18.
- 18. Rough.
- Oh, my head! Ugh!
I have blood in my eyes,
I can't see anything!
- 17.
- Gangie doesn't spot it either.
- My blood's in Gangie's eyes!
- So Ian and Lars are
welcome to roll as well,
but otherwise, cool, go for it.
- I didn't get it.
- Cool.
- Oh, g*dd*mn! A five.
That's a natural one.
- Daisy, slick as you like,
you palm the key over to Buckster.
The six of you are all together here.
Buckster, what's going on
in your head right now?
Because you seem to have caught
a lead on this list of names
that was slid to you by Gangie Green
back at your arrival here.
- Yeah, can we speak openly?
- I think what happens now is this.
I think all of you look at each other.
There's some animosity here,
but I think as you all look at each other,
there is a dawning moment where Buckster,
someone took your f*cking
knife off your ankle.
Sylvester, your name got
thrown out into the mud here
and you just saw the ghost
of your arch nemesis.
You're looking around at
everybody in this room,
and I think that it dawns on all of you
that whatever plan is afoot
here f*ck everybody very badly,
and the only people that
you have on your side
amidst all these high society aristocrats,
nobody, nobody is gonna
stick their neck out for you
other than the six of you for yourselves.
A lot of secrets have been gleaned,
and I think there's a pregnant pause
as you all look at each other and realize
how high the stakes are in this moment,
and how quickly the snare
is closing around you all.
- May I make a perception?
- Yeah.
- To see if anyone
is spying on us in this room?
- Give me a perception check.
- Since I just kind of
tumbled in here.
- Sure sure sure, absolutely.
- Maybe a little mouse?
- 18.
- Maybe a little painting.
- Now that I know these
mice are there, 18,
can I just be sniffing
around on the ground,
the walls, anywhere I can reach?
- You sniff around. The
room is clear to Lars.
They feel like it's clear here.
- But what about the eyes in the painting?
There's somebody there.
- Well Daisy, you could
go and investigate that,
but now you're in a room full of people.
- All right.
- Perhaps Daisy
could tell everyone?
- Yeah.
- I think let's cut over to Buckster.
Buckster is announcing
something right now.
You guys have this moment where you all,
I think you all look and are like,
"We're all f*cked, but we
also all have a lot of secrets
that could be helpful."
So Buckster, take it away.
- "Now look here, y'all.
Granted, us Americans are known
for being a little bit more
open with our playing cards
than most, but I have the
distinct intuitive feeling,
and I'm known for good intuition,
that all of us are pawns
in someone else's game.
We are at the bottom, folks.
At the bottom of the bottom,
and if we don't form
some kind of alliance,
it's gonna be our head
on the chopping block."
- "He's right."
- "I do believe that's correct, old boy."
- "Yes, I agree, I agree."
- "Well, Sylvester, spill
every secret you've got.
You heard him."
- "I was gonna say
the same thing, Sylvester.
Spill everything that you got."
- "Well, I suppose I'll start with one.
If anyone has a knife,
go ahead and put it on
the table right now."
- I take out so many knives.
- 50 knives.
- "I, of course, carry a
tiny blade just in case.
I'm gonna put my knife
right here on the table.
Lars, I know that you have some knives."
- "Ja."
- I stole a bunch of
silverware from before,
so I just keep putting it.
- You have like a bunch of butter knives
that, like, end up on the table.
- "It's true. My... (clears throat)
I typically keep a knife at my ankle,
the same knife that was
used, it would seem,
to m*rder Squire Badger."
(Ally gasps)
"Wasn't me, y'all. It was not me."
- "Mein Gott!"
- "I heard a scream,
came running eventually,
went down to my ankle,
and my knife was gone.
Someone done took it from me."
- Can I roll to see if I believe him?
- Yeah, go ahead and roll insight.
- Dirty 20.
- Dirty 20.
- Sylvester, you look at...
You look at Buckster in this moment.
Sam, 20 I think is good
enough that I think,
Sylvester, you're reasonably confident
that Buckster is not lying to you.
What does Sylvester see in Buckster's eyes
on a dirty 20 insight check,
as he sort of sizes him up?
- I think he sees cold capitalism
and the knowledge that,
unless it would directly
benefit this dude,
he is not gonna out-and-out
m*rder somebody.
I think he sees he could k*ll,
but didn't k*ll in this moment.
- Copy that. I think that is
probably what Sylvester sees.
Yes, absolutely.
- "All right.
Let's say for a moment I
believe that you aren't
the Stabber of the Evening.
That old chestnut of a phrase."
- "Yes, that is how we with
pomp refer to murderers.
'The Stabbers of the Evening'."
- "The Stabber of the
Evening that we all-"
- "That is what they are
called in high society."
- "Lady of the Night,
Stabber of the Evening."
- "That's right, that's exactly right."
- "Master of the House,
Keeper of the Inn."
- "We all understand.
Gangie, you're not from
quite the same class.
The 'Stabber of the Evening'
is how we refer to the m*rder*r
in the upper crust."
- "Hey, f*ck you.
Hey, f*ck you!"
- "f*ck you."
- "Hey, f*ck you!"
- "Hey, no, f*ck you!"
- No, f*ck you!
- "No, f*ck you!"
- No, no, you were hanging
out with those Cottonbottoms,
so definitely f*ck you."
- "No, f*ck you!"
- "Please, please,
please, please, please!"
- "You just put 10 butter
knives on the table!"
- "I was stealing them!"
- "The Vicar is right.
- f*ck everybody."
- "I'm a thief!"
- "No no no, that's not what I said!"
- "Anyway, anyway,
is there a possibility that someone else
got their hands on your
knife, Buckster Boyd?"
- "Well (clears throat) I've thought about
that very such thing,
and, retracing my hoof
steps through the night,
I was in close physical contact
with different folks at different times,
but I did have a physical altercation
with the Squire himself.
Now, in that moment-"
- "Not when you were k*lling him, right?"
- "No, this was earlier, this was before."
- "All right."
- "This was before
the Stabber of the Night
had his way with him,
the Stabber of the Evening.
And (clears throat) in that moment,
my knife could have escaped my person,
perhaps the Squire took it himself.
There were also a couple of
mice in the room with me,
hiding behind a curtain.
They claimed to be playing a game of pool,
but for all I know, they
could've found my knife
and ran with it."
- "Two mice, you say?"
- I think I share
what I learned about-
- The mice?
- Edwina and Carolyn.
- Yes, Lars speaks up and shares
Edwina and Carolyn's story,
and I think this maybe prompts,
just for as you guys are
sort of talking here,
I'm gonna move us from sort
of in-character dialogue
to out-of-character dialogue
as you all sort of begin
to compare notes over the evening.
Does anyone keep, as you
guys are kind of talking
about next steps, 'cause
I think it's become clear
that like, something very foul is afoot
and you all need to work together.
I just want to do a quick recap,
'cause we've been going HAM
for the past day and a half.
So the things that get
shared, first of all,
I'm gonna go ahead and say,
does Gangie share the list
of names of the bodies
he's robbed for the Brockhollow estate?
Awesome, so I'm gonna
read these names off.
Otis Hornsby, Bartholomew
Bighorn, Ramsey Rook,
Sven Hugen, Gavin Stripely, Brock Burrows,
Jane Burrows, Michael
Burrows, Agnes Burrows,
Edith Burrows, Arthur
Mossflower, Martin Diggory,
Samantha Diggory, Rufus
Roundear, and Claude Fromage.
Of those, Gangie, about half
of them have been badgers,
and there have been other kinds
of animals in there as well.
The first two that you dug
up when you first started,
are Rufus Roundear and Claude Fromage.
That was back closer to
when you started working
for the Badger estate.
Now, that gets shared.
I think Sylvester, you obviously
shared most of your stuff
back down in the Study.
Do you share the stuff, obviously the pen,
is there anything else in
terms of anything you gleaned
in the Study that you share?
The glass under the door or
anything else like that, or-
- I don't share that, I
don't share the letter
that was about to be written to me.
I think the only thing
I'm sharing right now
is about the knife.
- Hell yeah. Is about the knife, gotcha.
- So all I shared was
that I dug up a bunch of badgers?
- Badgers and a couple
other types of animals, yes.
You see that, bum bum bum...
So, that list gets shared.
I'm trying to think, and again,
the things that happened in the evening,
like the Vicar's
interaction with the Squire
about the Cardinal, Sylvester's
little thing with the fee,
Lars seeing Carolyn,
hearing Carolyn and Edwina,
Buckster, you shared that you
had this sort of altercation,
although you probably keep
your business interest
private, right?
- Exactly.
- Cool.
- I think I keep
the business interest private,
and I keep the key private.
- Keep the key private as
well, that Daisy lifted, yeah.
- I overheard the mice talking
about how Buckster paid them off.
- Yes, absolutely.
- We all understand that, and
do you like explain why, or?
- Lars, you can wait to see if Buckster
offers that up or not.
- Great.
- And Buckster doesn't, does not offer up,
so Lars heard the maids specifically talk
about getting paid off, and
Buckster omits that detail.
- Hm!
- Gangie, so now what happens is,
as you go over the list of the bodies
that you have been digging up
on behalf of the Brockhollow estate,
on behalf of Squire Badger,
you give the list of names and Gangie,
you have not yet shared the
manner in which you received
these requests, so Gangie,
go ahead and take it away
as he explains who gave
him these instructions.
- "All right, so I haven't
been completely open.
The thing is,
yes, I'm a gravedigger, but
I'm also a grave robber."
- "No!"
- "Oh, shut- f*ck off!"
- "f*ck off!"
- "f*ck off!"
- "f*ck you."
(Raphael singing loudly)
- "The Vicar is right,
f*ck everyone. Continue."
- "Anyway.
So I thought I was getting, you know,
the instructions for who to
dig up from Squire Badger,
however, I just remembered I
never actually dealt with him.
It was always going
through Ambrose Harding."
(Grant gasps)
- "The turtle?"
- "I knew there was
something off about that turtle!"
- "Curious."
- "Him and that Gilfoyle,
I don't like the sight of either of them."
- "I don't like either of them.
Anyone who talks that slowly
has carefully crafted
whatever they got to say."
- "Yeah, totally."
- "Oh, I just remembered something!"
- "Say it!"
- "Speaking of Gilfoyle,
I believe," Brennan
correct me if I'm wrong.
- [Brennan] Yes.
- "That during the Squire's speech,
I happened to notice that
Gilfoyle was nowhere to be seen.
He was suddenly absent from the premises
in a way that I clocked as conspicuous."
- "Hm, interesting."
- Is that right, Brennan?
- That is absolutely correct.
- Cool.
- I think as you guys
have played as many cards
as I think you have, and
I could be wrong, I think-
Sorry, Rekha, yes.
- One thing I wanted to
add to the Gilfoyle thing,
you can correct me if I'm wrong,
and then I can say it in
character if I'm right,
did Gilfoyle call the freaking police?
Wasn't he supposed to do that?
- He was supposed to, he said he did that.
- Yeah, I don't see any police here.
- Yeah, that's a good point.
- "Okay, now if we're on
the subject of Gilfoyle,
I got a lot of thoughts.
Now, I reckon when someone
says they're gonna call the police,
that's a pretty urgent action.
It's about three numbers in the States.
Phones are new, so, you
know, I'm not positive.
Now-"
(all laughing)
- "You know they're owned by Eel Musk
and he's spying on everyone."
- "Eel Musk!"
- "These theories, everyone
thinks that debilitating illness
came from 5G, which is
the name of the landline.
Okay, but all I'm saying
is, it's been a minute.
I don't see any police
around the perimeter."
- "That's a good point."
- "Is this some sort
of a lower class coup?
No offense, Gangly.
Are they all teaming up on us finally
to get some kind of revenge?"
- "It's quite possible, but keep in mind,
that present in Loam Hall at the moment
is the new Squire, Squire
Badger, Jeremy. Jez."
- "I have something I'm
thinking about that,
isn't Jeremy's partner running
for some sort of office or something?"
- "Oh, yes. Isn't he
running for mayor of-"
- "Parliament."
- "Parliament?"
- "Wouldn't they have something,
is there some sort of takeover
that we can look at the family
or something with that?"
- "This could be from coming-"
- "That's worth looking up."
- "And there's one more
little thing I wanna share.
This painting has eyeballs."
- Everyone darts up, yeah.
- Such an afterthought.
- Yeah, such an afterthought-
Darts up to look at the
painting in the corner,
and as you look at it, Daisy,
there's a small like
sort of stool for sitting
at the sort of raised crystal ball table.
I think, for the first
time, you can actually go up
and just get your little
raccoon paws on that painting.
As you do so, Daisy,
(scampering) you go up.
With that incredible investigation roll,
you put your fingers on the eyes, swipe,
and the eyes swivel up
behind the painting.
They are on nails, and the eyes can,
almost like, you know
a look hole in a door,
that some of the old ones
have a little like hinge,
and you can rotate the covering up?
The eyes work that way, but
clearly from the other side.
So you rotate the eyes,
and a little musty smell,
a little sort of gust
from another room comes in
through the eyes of the painting.
It is pitch black in the room inside.
No one is in that room, but
you can immediately smell
the fusty smell of ink and parchment
through whatever is beyond these eyes.
- "Way to bury the lede, Daisy!"
(Brennan laughs)
- "Yeah, what the f*ck?"
- "Yeah, we just went through, like,
a secrets kind of like greatest hits,
and like maybe we could have known
that there were eyes
there the whole time."
- "Yeah, well, if I could get a word in,
if I don't have to clobber
somebody to say something.
- "Always the victim, okay, moving on."
- "You have no idea."
- "Good one."
- "Okay, are we airing secrets
about me, or are we gonna
follow these eyeballs?"
- "All right, yeah, fine,
fine, let's have a look."
- "Much as I like a
lover's quarrel, Sarge,
are you getting that smell
from behind that painting?"
- "Lars?"
- Can I do
a little investigate
with my sense of smell?
Or do we already know-
- Yeah, I'll say scent
gives you advantage, go for it.
- Hell yeah.
- Oh, hell yeah.
- That is an 11.
"Oh it's, um, ink, and, um, parchment."
- "Well we can all smell
that, ain't you a dog?"
- "Hey, hey! You do not
talk to them that way!"
- "Thank you. Thank you."
- So, here's where we're at right now.
I think you look through, having
discovered this other room
that is pitch black,
but has this smell of parchment and stuff,
the issue you see, Daisy,
this painting is bolted into the thing.
There is solid wall, so the opening,
it's not like you can just, like,
running through paper at a football match
like bust through the
painting into the other room,
it's just an opening
wide enough for someone
to push their face up and
look through the eyes.
Anyone who wants to make an insight check,
for this one we're definitely
looking for a DC 20
and definitely you want a 25 or higher.
- What about a two, does a two clear that?
- I have-
- My-
- I have very good insight numbers.
I daresay I should do the investigation.
- Oh, that's something
I've never heard before.
- Everybody's rolling insight
right now, so everyone roll-
- Oh, but let Sylvester take it.
Everybody, just chill out,
Sylvester's got this one.
Nobody needs to have a
job if Sylvester has one.
- I betcha I'm the one who investigates!
- Did anyone beat a 25 on their insight?
- I got 25.
- Oh, you got 25? That is beating 25!
Beating 25 is getting that.
Gangie, did anyone else beat a 20?
- Yes, 23.
- Okay, so you look at that.
On that insight, Buckster,
beating the 20 insight,
I'm gonna say you smell...
Buckster, you know the difference
between published novels
and encyclopedias.
You don't smell books in there,
you smell ledgers.
On the other side of whatever this is-
- Oh my God!
- Is ledgers and accounting books.
You know the smell like
the back of your hand,
and immediately, you just
spent, you know, an hour
with everyone dealing with
the death of Squire Badger
in the Study,
you were looking around Squire
Badger's study downstairs.
Bullshit.
You realize Squire Badger
wouldn't have his f*cking office
on the first floor outside
of the Drawing Room,
with all this shady-a*s
sh*t that he gets up to.
Whatever that is on the other side,
that is Squire Badger's actual study
with the f*cking numbers in it,
and the only f*cking thing
on your mind right now is,
you can't squeeze through these eyeholes.
The door to that study is
somewhere in the Manor House.
Somewhere, there is a manor, and Daisy,
you think of that f*cking key.
Now, that's what you see.
On a 25, Gangie,
Buckster's thinking about the money,
you're thinking about the crime.
Look at what these eyes...
You guys are all looking at
what's behind these eyes.
Gangie, you look at where
these eyes were situated.
What happens in this room all the time,
the room you're in right now?
- Seances.
- Seances!
- Yeah, seances.
- Seances.
Gangie, it's seances.
- I said that!
I literally said that.
- Katie, it's seances.
- What is this weasel doing? It's seances.
- I know!
- I'm going to text something
to Katie and Katie alone real quick.
- I rolled a 10, so I'll say,
"Well, we know that the
entrance to this office
must be some place in the Manor."
- "Oh, I'm sorry, did you
not have much else insight
into this situation,
Sylvester, 'cause I thought
you were gonna go ahead
and take this case."
- "No, I'm sorry, I got hit
in the head a minute ago
and I'm trying to get my wits about me."
- "Maybe getting hit in
the head is what it takes
to get your wits about you."
- "I would like a secret."
- "Gangie, it's seances."
- I know it is!
Don't make this-
- Cool, I just texted Katie.
Katie, feel free to text me back
if any part of that is confusing.
Otherwise, for everyone else here, yes,
so Buckster, you smelled that.
I'm gonna go ahead and say you guys have,
all the cards you're
willing to show each other
you already have.
That being said, there
are definitely loose ends.
You guys know that the snare
is closing in around you.
You know that you are pawns
in somebody else's game.
However, you are also aware
that there are several other loose ends.
Do you guys want to rattle off,
while Katie's reading that,
what you guys think the loose ends are?
Buckster and Daisy
obviously just discovered
a huge loose end,
which is whatever's on the
other side of this painting.
- I have a loose end I want to ask about.
- Go for it.
- "Now, this is a Seance Room, right?
People come in here, and
Vicar you can attest to this,
they're sad and they talk about
dead people in their lives?"
- "Exactly."
- And real quick, so
yes, Gangie, on that 25,
you get that information
I just texted you,
which you can feel free to
share with the group as well.
- I don't want to.
- Cool. Great.
Hell yeah. Daisy, go for it.
- Okay.
"So this is a room with seances,
people grieving and crying
over a dead person, right?
Why does anybody have the need
to see who somebody's grieving over?
Now me, a shrewd businesswoman,
I myself tried to profit a
little bit earlier this evening
off of dead people in people's lives
and seeing if they wanted
to bring them back.
Now, is there something to figuring out
who's dead in somebody's
family, digging up the body,
putting up a relic from that
body or something like that,
and being like, 'Wow, I discovered-
Wow, your person came back,
they love you, here's your watch!'"
- "I see what you're putting down,
I see what you're putting down.
Some sort of connection
between the seances-"
- "You know what? Lucretia...
Lucretia did mention that she runs seances
with high-profile, high
society members around town."
- "And listen, I appreciate
a good businesswoman,
so I would do the same,
and that's why I would say
I would put eyeballs in a
painting in my Seance Room.
(Rekha claps)
And Sylvester, that's what
I could do without you."
(Brennan cackles)
- "Well if I may say this,
it's not here,
but the entrance to that room
is somewhere in the building."
- "Oh my God!"
- "I'm still bleeding."
- "Sylvester, that was brutal."
- "Hurt like hell. Threw
a snow globe at me."
- "Now, I am sorry that I hit you.
Violence is not the way.
I thought that that was a prop
because it looked like sh*t."
- I have another loose end.
- Yeah, go for it.
- This is, okay, so now out of character,
another loose end that I'm thinking about.
Fletcher Cottonbottom.
- Yeah, Fletcher Cottonbottom.
- Fletcher Cottonbottom, I saw him,
and I don't believe in ghosts.
So...
Sylvester knows...
Sylvester thinks one of two things.
That either Fletcher Cottonbottom is here,
or that he's losing his mind,
and both of those things
are possibilities.
He's getting, he's maybe
a little past his prime.
55 is older for this time.
Maybe he's seeing things, he's lived hard.
- Wait.
When we went outside to
get some air, why was that?
- Because there was dancing happening,
and Sylvester is-
- It was a quiet choice.
- A little ashamed to not
be able to dance anymore.
- I wasn't remembering if we
like really heavily telegraphed
like, "We will be outside now,"
'cause someone could've
been posing as the rabbit.
- No, we thought of it.
- No, we quietly...
- f*cking Brennan just
had somebody out there
all of a sudden.
Jesus Christ!
- Another loose end is the
smell of ozone in the office.
- And where that's coming from.
- Ozone, burning, furnaces.
Furnaces and ledgers, I don't know.
Something feels connected about that.
- But the electromagnetic field,
I thought it had
something to do with that.
- Oh, that too, yeah yeah yeah.
- Yes, as you guys are going over this
in this short, hurried conversation,
the biggest loose ends that
are facing you guys right now,
is the secret study, obviously,
and then parentheses around that, the key
that Daisy purloined from Squire Badger.
You also have the whole thing of spotting
Fletcher Cottonbottom
outside by the docks,
down the hill from the
front door of Loam Hall.
There is the matter of the smell of ozone
around the desk, and Raph,
I will also remind you
about what you spotted on your
history check in the Study.
- Yeah, right.
Can I just say that?
- Yeah, I think the Vicar
would probably offer that up
at this point as you're
all, like, discussing
the different clues you found, go for it.
- Right right right.
Okay, so,
"During all the commotion,
I noticed that, you know,
me being a history of, or, sorry,
a student of history and
knowledge of the Church
and how far back it goes,
the date on the bust of
Barkus Aurelius was wrong!
It was mistaken!"
- "It's more fake-"
- "The date!
It's probably the passage,
maybe the entrance to the passage."
- "The entrance to the passage, and also-"
- "Entrance to the hidden office."
- "Excuse me, but who do we know...
We've got weird sh*t happening
in artwork all over this house!
We got eyeballs in paintings,
what, a brain in that statue?
We got to go to that statue!"
- "We do indeed!
However, that room will
be watched very closely,
as it's the site of the m*rder.
So we have to go in there,
but everyone, act casual."
- "Well, you know, Sylvester...
(all laughing)
I'm the epitome of casual.
I don't know what you're talking about."
- "You're wearing a full-"
- "I know you don't, Lars.
You're the height of style."
- "Excuse me, you're
wearing a big purple suit."
(Ally barking)
- "No, the Detective is absolutely right.
Six suspects in a high-profile m*rder,
all we have to do is act casual."
- So yes, the Vicar shares
that something is wrong with the date
on the bust of Barkus Aurelius
in the Study of Squire Brockhollow.
What a sentence!
You see that,
in addition to that, so
the loose ends, again,
are the secret Study, whatever the key is
that Daisy purloined,
spotting the ghost of Fletcher
Cottonbottom by the docks,
the smell of ozone in the Study,
the appearance of that
broken glass under the door.
There's also, Sylvester, you're realizing,
the whole question of the Squire's body.
Whatever else is the
case, Mrs. Molesly claims
that she saw Squire Badger
stabbing himself to death,
and I think there's a moment
where you all realize, like,
that is still a huge question mark here.
That, like, for being a m*rder,
the only eyewitness to the
death of the individual
in question, claims that
it was self inflicted,
which is pretty strange for a
m*rder even though Sylvester,
everything you gleaned from the Study
suggests that something else is afoot,
and maybe Mrs. Molesly
was, like, as you said,
was in an altered state when
all of this was happening.
Other than that, I think that.-
And then, of course, there's,
the last loose ends are
like suspicious people,
which I think is like,
Gilfoyle and Harding are the
two that you have focused on,
and the absence of police being here.
Other than those things I've just listed,
are there any other loose
ends that we are forgetting?
- "Well the entrance to that room
is somewhere in this house!"
- Oh my God!
- Awesome. Cool.
I think that you guys are beginning
to feel mounting pressure.
You've been in here for a little while,
and can hear voices picking
up around the Manor.
What is it that you all want to go do,
like when you break and
leave from this room?
- Correct me if I'm
wrong, but me and Daisy
are the ones that actually
know about the premise
of a secret study, and Gangie.
- Yes, I believe so, yes yes yes.
- 'Cause we've seen into it.
- Well, I sniffed it.
- Everyone knows there's-
- You sniffed parchment.
- Well I'll say this,
Buckster, everyone knows
there's a room on the other
side of that painting,
but I think most people might assume
it's like a secret hallway or something.
You're the only person
who's really put together
what is on the other side of that room.
- Wait, I have too,
right? 'Cause I had a 25.
- Yes, you do, you had that 25 insight.
So Gangie, you know as well, yes yes yes.
- Got it.
- Is there a reason...
Maybe this is something
to text Sam, but whatever.
We would want to lead in
there, get in there first,
you know, Sam, to, you know, I don't know.
- Yeah.
"Well look,
I don't know if anyone's
brought this up yet,
but the entrance to that room
is somewhere in this house."
- "You're so right, Buckster.
When you're right you're right.
You're a genius."
- "I can't believe it."
- "I say what we do is-"
- "I can't believe it."
- "I say what we do is we
split up and search for it."
- "Oh, yes."
- "Miss D'umpstaire and I-
- Hey, Brennan?
- Yeah.
- Can I do a strength check
just to see if I can move that painting?
We say it's like really bolted,
but can I do some sort of wacky...
- Give me an athletics check, DC 25,
and you'll be able to move the painting,
and DC 20, you'll be able to
like adjust it a little bit.
What did you roll?
- 26.
(all cheer)
- Sorry.
- You rip the painting off the wall,
revealing a fully intact
stone wall behind it.
The bolts come out, and as you
rip, the painting comes out.
The house suddenly goes silent,
and you hear a voice down the hall say,
"What the devil was that?"
- "Is this helpful?"
I try to hang it back
up, I try to hang it,
it keeps sliding down.
- "It was very helpful!
It was worth a shot!"
- You know how, like-
- "Good job, Lars!"
- A dog's ears go like this when they're-
- Yeah, my tail.
- "Absolutely worth a
shot, great try, Lars!"
- "Oh, nice going, now
all these little mice
and little freaks in this
house are coming after us."
- Is there a good painting
at least inside the painting?
Did I find it? I'm just
ripping things apart.
- You like rip, it's bolted,
boom, it comes off the wall,
revealing this stone wall behind it.
I'm gonna say on that 26, you
throw the painting back up
and just like, bam bam
bam it into the wall.
As you do take the painting off, though,
you see...
This painting's been up
here for so, so long,
you see that there's some
writing in, like, olde English
on the stone from like back when this
got put here or whatever.
As you like rip the painting off,
the writing you see on the stone
just seems to be
instructions about repairs
happening to Loam Hall,
and you see that, like,
repairs happening to Loam
Hall back in the day,
and it talks about, like,
almost in the way that you know
carpenters will like
write on a 2x4 to be like,
"This is where this is supposed
to go in the building."
These stones in here, you
see that there is something
about, like, the upper
story where you are now,
and you see that there is a little
sort of written-out
fraction underneath it.
One of three.
- One of three.
- One of three.
You guys are upstairs.
The Entrance Hall is beneath you.
To your knowledge, and
to Sylvester and Lars,
you spent weeks here this summer
and were in Loam Hall many times,
other than the, you
know, lovely wine cellar
that Mr. Banks keeps,
there is no third floor to Loam Hall,
or at least you've never heard of one.
You begin to hear footsteps
coming down the hall towards you.
On that 26, Lars, no sweat,
you just like "Bam!",
hit the painting back
in, boom, into the wall,
and all of you guys-
- Good show!
- I'm gonna need a group deception check.
I'm gonna need a group deception check.
Everyone roll deception.
Only half of you need to pass
for this to be successful.
Let me know what you all get.
- I rolled a 10.
- Dirty 20.
- 13.
- 13.
- Okay, that's 10.
- Seven.
- Seven, six.
- Dirty 20.
- Dirty 20 from Buckster,
what did the Vicar get?
- 13.
- Okay.
It sounds like the only
person who even beat a 15
was Buckster.
Did half of you beat a 10?
- I got over a 10.
- Yes.
- Yeah, I got a 13, yeah.
- Got a 10, okay.
We are gonna roll in the Box of Doom.
You need the people that come here
to roll below a six, you
need a one through five.
- Oh, God!
- Oh, God!
- Let's see what happens.
- Come on, baby, let's go.
- All right, everyone act casual.
(all laughing)
(tense music)
- That is a natural two.
(all cheering)
- I told you it would work!
- Un-f*cking-real. The doors-
- I'm running like on the
wooden floors and slipping
like dogs do, like.
- Yeah, all of you guys do
the f*cking "Rocky and
Bullwinkle" legs in the air,
and as the door opens
to see Colonel Hawkins,
Mr. Gilfoyle, Jeremy Brockhollow
and Constance Brockhollow,
you open the door and it's like full
"'Breakfast Club' tableau"
of like someone like sideways on the table
and everyone just super
f*cking casual as the door...
Colonel Hawkins says,
"What in the blazes is the idea?
All of you sequestered away
here in Madame Lucretia's Seance Room.
What are you all doing in here together?"
- "Well, Madame Lucretia just gave
the most marvelous seance tips
that I was sharing with everybody.
She's really just such a dear."
- "There are 75 ghosts
in this room right now."
- "So crazy."
- Colonel Hawkins and Mr.
Gilfoyle each raise an eyebrow,
and you see that Lucretia
pokes her head around and says,
"Everyone, leave this room at once!
These individuals and
their 75 spiritual friends
mustn't be disturbed!"
Slams the door, you guys have
privacy again, and she says,
"Shoo-shoo, shoo-shoo all of you!
There's important work being
done in the spirit world,
and I shan't have it disturbed,
not on the birthday and death day
of my dear departed brother!"
And you guys, against all
f*cking odds, got away with it.
Incredible.
You guys miraculously dodge that b*llet.
It's on camera, I rolled a f*cking two.
- No notes. Let's just do that all night.
- Hey, I've been doing
that all night, baby.
- It's about the only
thing you do all night.
(match strikes)
- Wait, that was Rekha as Rekha talking.
- Rekha f*ck all night.
- Daisy's not talking
about her rolls, Grant.
- That was Rekha.
- I was talking about your rolls!
Your rolls haven't been good!
- Incredible, so all of you
hear the footsteps lead away,
and the only thing you hear
is a marching back and forth
of the Lady Lucretia just taking, like,
a four-pace march outside
of the door, being like,
"I use my presence and
the strength of my aura
to abjure this hall!
Let none interfere with what transpires
in the porous membrane
between this realm and
the great beyond past!
Let none interfere with the spiritual work
of these brave souls!"
- She's going back and forth.
- Just like how Buckingham Palace guards
would like patrol just
like outside the door.
- It's so cute!
- It's so cute.
I think someone's making
her actually pace on Roll20,
it's very cute.
- That's f*cking perfect.
Oh God, that's perfect.
Buckster, you're the only
other person that's been
up in this area of the Manor today.
Down the hall from here
is the Billiards Room.
- Got it.
- Which you would know for a fact.
And then that painting
up there, you can see
is the painting in question.
- Got it.
- Lovely, lovely.
So Lady Lucretia is
guarding you guys right now.
You have a moment to
strategize about what it is
you wanna do when you leave this room,
because Lady Lucretia's protection of you
will end once you leave the Seance Room.
- Okay, to clarify, that painting
is the eyeballs painting?
- Correct.
- Okay.
- We're in the same room, right?
- Got it, yes, okay.
- Well, I'm gonna strategize
out of character for a moment.
It seems like almost definitely,
that statue in the Study
is a secret passageway
that leads to another room.
- Can I offer an alternate theory?
- Yeah.
- I'll bet that wrong date
is a sequence of numbers
that we may end up needing at some point.
- Yes.
- Yeah, definitely.
- Oh, wow.
- It's definitely something.
Like, I feel like we should
go back to investigate that.
- Do you know the numbers?
- I don't know the numbers,
I just know that they were wrong.
- Maybe we should come up
with a few different things
to do and split up.
- I was gonna say, I bet
next we'll want to split up
to accomplish a couple
of tasks simultaneously.
I want to get another look at the body
to look at that wound again,
which is in the same room as the bust,
so maybe the Vicar and I go in
there to take a closer look?
- I have pretty good investigation.
I don't know if that would be helpful
for me to go into that room
and either investigate
the body or the statue,
but maybe the statue, since you're-
- Yeah, let's split up,
Daisy and Sylvester go
and check out the body.
- In that case, Daisy, I'm
gonna hand you back the key
in case it's relevant.
- Yes, great.
- And then maybe what I'll
do, is I'll investigate
your elevator hunch.
- Ooh!
- What elevator hunch?
- So there's a third floor to this place.
Maybe the servant's elevator goes there.
- That's what we believe.
- Can I point something
out about the elevator?
- Yes.
- Again, we're out of character.
There's a keyhole in that
elevator, and we have a key.
- Exactly.
- Okay, never mind,
I will take the key.
- I'll go with you.
- Okay, again,
I'll hand this back and
then you hand it to me,
and I'll give it right
back, and you give it to me.
- Good good good.
- Can we make a copy of this key?
If I'm going to explore
some weird part of the house
or if I'm gonna make that my mission,
I could use some protection,
either in the form of Gangie or Lars.
- I'll go.
- How about both?
- How about both?
- Yeah, Lars says that as
they lock hands with Gangie.
- Get off me.
- Honestly, hot couple.
- I ship it, I ship it.
- The biggest dog in the world
with the thinnest, slinkiest weasel.
- I've seen that g*y porn.
- Amazing.
- Wait, so we're looking
at the elevator.
Was there anything else that...
That people have secrets about?
Or that's not a secret,
that's just what you saw.
- Something else we're going
to need to do at some point
is talk to...
Forgiving my memory, did Gangie tell us
about the turtle man?
- Yes, you guys know about Mister-
- So at some point we're gonna need
to chat with him as
well and with Gilfoyle.
- Is the Vicar doing anything?
'Cause the Vicar is a man of the cloth,
maybe he can have some pull
and talk to these people
in a bit more of a way
that seems like as a priest
rather than as a suspect?
- Sure.
- I could.
I definitely do wanna,
at least at some point
get back to that bust, but-
- Of course, you have history.
- Oh yeah, you do the bust.
- If you guys are going back to the body,
it makes sense that
the Vicar goes with you
to do like more bless...
Well, yeah, you did kind of feather blood-
- But if we run into Fletcher
in the Servants' Quarters,
I have good charisma,
I could try to get something out of him.
- Jesus, the next time we see
Fletcher I'm gonna freak out!
It's gonna scare me.
- Oh sorry, not Fletcher.
Sorry, Gilfoyle or Harding.
- Gilfoyle, yeah.
- 'Cause Fletcher is dead, or whatever.
- We don't know, really.
- We don't know.
- So it sounds like we're
in two groups right now.
We're in an "Elevator Group"
and we're in a "Back to the
Study" group, is that correct?
- Hell yeah. Study Group is
Sylvester, Vicar and Daisy.
- Yeah.
- And then Elevator Group
is Buckster, Lars, and Gangie.
Hell yes.
You guys get your stories straight.
Buckster, you walk away from
the smell of that Secret Study
up here on the upper floor,
and whatever secrets await in that place
to head back down to the first floor.
And I think also, Sylvester and
Lars, as you see Lars, like,
you see them patting the
portrait one last time
to make sure it's secure,
I think you also remember
that the desk in the Study
was similarly bolted to the ground.
You all leave from this place
and walk down the stairs together.
You open the door, the Lady
Lucretia turns and says,
"Ah, brave mystics!
Were you able to glean any
wisdom from the deceased?"
- "Yes, Lady Lucretia, we
found out something bad
might happen or something
good might happen,
and we should react accordingly."
- "What a treasure trove
of vital information!
It's this type of insight
that makes the burden of
being a medium so impossible!
What knowledge ye hath
wrested from the gods!"
And with that, we are
going to end this episode
of "Mice and m*rder"!
Tune in next week for
another thrilling episode.
Bye bye!
"Oh, Vicar, there is a
grieving family downstairs
that requires the ministrations
of a man of the cloth.
Lo, boy, I wouldn't want to
be in your talons tonight,
if you understand what I mean."
- "Yes, I think I do, I
think I understand, yeah."
- "I think our business here is concluded.
Please do tend to Ms. Constance."
- "Sure, of course, yes, that's
what I was gonna do anyway."
(all laughing)
