Hello, one and all!

Welcome back to another thrilling episode

of Dimension 20: Neverafter.

I am your humble Dungeon
Master, Brennan Lee Mulligan.

With me, as always, are
our intrepid heroes.

Say hi, intrepid heroes.
- Hi, intrepid heroes.

- Last we left off, our intrepid heroes

were in the wreckage and ruin

around Bart's Funnel Cake and Cigar Shop

here on Toy Island,

where they had discovered
Mira, the Little Mermaid,

princess of the merfolk,
who you had found here

in this ancestral sort of
part of Pinocchio's story,

and fought for a brief
moment the Mer-King,

saving Mira of the merfolk.

You stabbed out the eyes
of the terrible Dogfish,

who retreated to the deep
after eating the Mer-King,

and you were left with the Sea
Witch and the Little Mermaid,

who now enjoin into some
kind of confrontation,

which is where we now speed to

as we return to the Neverafter.

You see that Mira takes
out that bloody conch shell

and just starts to stride
towards the Sea Witch,

who looks up and says,
right, Mira, hang on!

Look, I can explain!

And Mira begins to raise
the conch above her head.

Do any of you do anything?

- [Lou] It's their thing!
- It's their thing.

- But we can hang on for a second.

Let's talk it out for a second.

- You see Mira turns to you and goes...

- I don't...

I know, but she said she can explain?

- Can I message her?
- You message Mira?

- [Ally] Yeah, I say, Mira-
- Mira goes, talk it out?

This f*cking guy!
- Oh, I agree.

So what's this lady's
deal? She's Scottish?

(Emily laughing)

- You see Mira goes,
exactly! So you get it!

- Wait, no, whoa!

Hey, we're going down a trail
I didn't want to go down.

- We haven't even gotten
to get to know her yet!

- You see the Sea Witch sort of says,

right, okay, I understand.

There are hard feelings.

Please, allow me to make amends.

And you see she takes a
small, glowing nautilus shell

and flicks it to Mira,

who catches it in midair.

(Brennan gasps)

And you see swirling golden
light fills her body, and she...

(Brennan panting)

Hello. (choking)
- I give her some water.

- Do you need a lozenge?
My grandma was big on them.

- She gets her voice back,
but it's not just a quick fix.

It's like, you have not
used those vocal cords.

- She needs a licorice root.

- I've got a bunch of lozenges
that have melted together.

- [Lou] You want a hot dog?

- You see the Sea Witch

sort of steps up onto the
dock with you and says, hello.

I was coming here to rescue the princess,

but I understand that she is well in hand.

Mira looks up and goes, you...

You took my voice.

No, I bought your voice.

It was a fair deal.

You understood it when you made it,

and I didn't want you to
lose your voice forever.

I was trying to angle to
get the prince k*lled!

Didn't your sisters show up

with a magic dagger they
sold their hair for?

And you were supposed to take the dagger

and k*ll the prince!

And you see Mira goes, I didn't want to!

I was in love with him!

You see the witch goes like,
you were in love with...

He was literally about
to let you die, sweetie.

He was going to marry another princess.

I know we're in the middle of the ocean,

but even so, that's pretty thirsty.

- Wow.

- I think we should've let her stab you.

We should've let her stab her.
- I'm doing that thing where

when people I don't really know

are really going into a
fight, I'm kind of, like,

looking down a little bit and
just kind of dissociating.

- Yeah, I know, I was thinking

about how I'm kind of just
walking backwards away.

- Someone says something really heated.

- Gerard's staring forward,

pretending he's looking at something else.

A lot of ducks.

- Cool boat, right?

- Yeah, that's an awesome boat.

- Yeah, can I try out your g*n?

- [Ally] Should we go look at the boat?

- Give us a tour of the boat!

- You guys have your
thing, you guys keep...

Sounds like you got to catch up.

- We just cut to all of you

in a different part of Toy
Island as you hear shouts

from the two of them kind
of hashing stuff out.

- I think this is better. It felt awkward.

- Yeah, I want to try a cigar.
- They need to get this out.

- A loaded dynamic,
what are we going to do?

- Right.
- [Siobhan] For sure.

- Grandma used to love cigars.
- Your book starts twitching.

As it twitches a little bit,

you see Cricket crawls back out of it.

I died!

- [Lou] It's all right, Cricket.

I mean, hey, you did good.
- I died!

- Cricket, I'm so sorry.
I think that was my fault.

- No, I've been hiding
something from you guys.

- [Siobhan] Oh no!
- I had water earlier.

- Cricket, no!

- Cricket, you know you
shouldn't be drinking water.

- That's why I died. You
shouldn't drink water.

- No, you definitely should drink water.

- Okay! You see he gets
down towards the saltwater.

- Cricket!
- Not that water.

- Not that water, though, Cricket.

- Complicated.
- Do you want a lozenge?

We still have more, right?
- Yeah!

- I have a big fistful of
melted together lozenges.

- [Lou] It's not water!
- Have a lick.

- Could I get a lozenge?
- Yeah, pop him a lozenge.

- I actually have Create or Destroy Water.

- That's a really big lozenge.
- You see you get a lozenge,

and Cricket just sort of crawls
up and goes to bed on it.

- Yeah, that's pretty cute.

- Anyway, should we go check
on them to see if they're done?

- You go, they're up on one
of those sort of raised bridge

parts of the island, and
they're doing that thing

where they're sort of sitting
criss-cross applesauce,

but each, they're touching foreheads.

They've come to some intense moment.

- Okay, this is good.
- This is g*y.

- [Brennan] Hands on the
back of each other's heads.

- I think we should leave again.

- [Ally] They're downloading.

- We need to leave again. We leave again.

Can we just drive out into the ocean

and just let some rockets off?

- I guess I'll try some
whiskey and bubblegum.

- Oh my god! What are we doing?

Come on, guys! Come on!

- We all go to Whiskey and Bubblegum.

- I'm taking everyone to
Whiskey and Bubblegum.

- [Brennan] Great.

- Is there a bra section
of Whiskey and Bubblegum?

- Give me an investigation check.

- Great.
- [Ally] I help.

- I would also like to help.
- Great.

- I would also like to help.

- Actually, excuse me, I'd
like to use one of my destiny.

- [Ally] No, absolutely not!

- I get three every short rest. Hold on.

- This won't come back to bite us.

- That's a nat one. You
don't have to take that.

- Great, I did get a 14.

- That was the biggest nat
one I've ever seen, too.

- The closest thing you find
to a bra is a set of bloomers

full of firecrackers that's
part of a prank section.

- Oh.

- I trust you.

- I kind of put the kibosh on that.

We'll find a real, proper place.

- I think also, to Rosamund,
I'm like, by the way,

whenever we do get me a bra,

it needs to be able to
shift into a giant wolf.

- Got it. So, elasticated.

- Yes, yes.
- Got it.

- I think I pull Timothy
and Gerard up to the bar

and I'm like, are you more
a whiskey or a scotch guy?

- Scotch, of course.

- Scotch, right. What about you?

- Whiskey, sure.

- Great, I think there's
only one kind of whiskey.

- I don't know why you asked, but yeah.

- Is there some kind of fruit whiskey?

- No, this seems to be kind of-

- Raspberry, strawberry, peach?

- It has a white label.
- Honey whiskey?

- Honey!

- It's like a W and then a
backwards, kind of childish H,

and then, like, an I with a heart.

- I'll take some bubblegum.
- S, and a backwards K, E, Y.

I mean, it's made by-

- Is this made out of children?

- No, no, no, no!

- [Murph] It's alcohol made by children.

- Can I sniff and see if
it's made out of children?

- You can give it a sniff.
- [Murph] It isn't great, but yeah.

- I got a three.
- I'll drink some.

Let's do it. Cheers, everybody!

- I'm allowed to have it
when I'm feeling sick.

- First, okay, so everyone
take a piece of bubblegum.

All right, now put it in your mouth. Chew.

- Okay.

- I was never allowed this as a kid.

It was too unclassy for me.
- So sweet.

- Literally let that
perfume in your mouth.

You know, get the aromatics, yeah.

- Super sweet.
- Okay, now here we go.

- Aerating the bubblegum.
- Here we go!

- What?

- Mm!
(players choking)

- I swallowed my gum.
- I also swallowed my gum.

- [Lou] That's part of
it. That's part of it.

- The sweetness of the
bubblegum, but then burning.

- Yes, exactly!

- Okay, well, that was horrifying.

I need to find a good fernet, okay?

- I'm going to go make
sure they didn't leave us.

- You walk out and you
see that both of them

are approaching you, looking
for you guys as well.

They have that thing of, like,

sort of have wiped the tears away,

of some kind of reconciliation.

Their bodies, you know that thing,

you've been crying so hard
that your body becomes hot?

- I think they're
stronger for it, you know?

- [Ally] Yeah, I think so too.

- I think whatever happened
was really beautiful.

- Yeah, whatever happened
was really beautiful.

- Whatever happened in
the past, it's herstory.

- Hey, that water under that bridge

isn't the only water
that's under a bridge,

because this water is
also under the bridge.

- [Emily] That's a good call
- [Lou] Tell 'em, tell 'em.

There's water everywhere.

- Not enough to drink. What is it?

- Water, water everywhere,
not a drop to drink.

- Whatever. Anyway, ladies!

(players laughing)

- I look at Pinocchio. The
f*ck are you doing, man?

- I look at Pinocchio. I'm like, whoa.

That was kind of hot.
- I'm trying to really-

(Lou laughs so hard he starts coughing)

- Gerard walks to the boat.
(Lou cackling)

And waits.

- What can I say?

I've had a couple of shots
of whiskey and bubblegum.

I'm feeling myself.

- Did you guys want some
whiskey and bubblegum?

We just had some.
- I can rack them up.

- It wasn't very good, but
I thought I would offer.

- Could you have just the
whiskey without the bubblegum?

- Ooh, you're missing out!

- I think I'm all right missing out.

- The bubblegum helps!

- It's more utility than you'd think.

The bubblegum is there for a reason.

- Rack them up?
- Rack them up.

(Lou singing triumphantly)
(whiskey glugging)

- Are we all doing another shot? No!

- All right, I'll do another shot.

- Okay, I guess I have two colds.

- I mean, hey.
- [Siobhan] Sláinte.

- Cheers, everyone.
- All right, women!

- [Murph] Take the gum.
Don't forget the gum.

- Chew, chew, chew, chew,
chew, chew, and shoo!

- I did it already.
- Chew and shoo!

- Chew and shoo.
- I hate that. I hate that.

- Just, like, really grape whiskey.

- Mira immediately swallows her gum,

and you see that the Sea Witch treats it

sort of like a lime after a shot,

so does the shot first and
then bites into the bubblegum.

- That's the way to do it.
- She knows how to drink.

- No, it's not.

- I want to look at the Sea Witch

and be like, excuse me, what's your name?

I just feel like I know everyone
else's name in this room.

- All right, you can call me Alba.

- Alba!
- Alba Mac Lir is my name.

- Alba Mac Lir, nice to meet you.

- It's a pleasure to meet
all of you here as well,

and a strange place, this.

An island without being an island,

connected to nowhere, floating
free out in the great ocean.

Mira obviously knows me quite
well, but for the six of you,

what brings you out here
to save a wayward mermaid

with this pair of legs beneath her?

- Can I make an insight check real quick?

- Oh, that's so smart. I'm
going to do the same thing.

- [Ally] She's a Sea Witch, not a fairy?

- As I go to tell her everything.

- [Ally] Yeah, exactly!
- [Siobhan] She has big fairy vibes.

- A 10 year old boy stops me.
- Nat 20 on my insight.

- Sick.

- On a nat 20 insight check,
let me roll, actually.

- Yeah, I'm just trying to see if she's on

that same fairy tip, or if
she's a more witchy vibe.

- She seems a little old school.

- Yeah.
- Yeah.

- She is definitely not on the fairy tip.

- Okay.

- You notice her eyeing
Mother Goose, number one.

You see Alba looking at
Mother Goose, and on a nat 20,

you see it's sort of a look
of camaraderie of some kind,

a look of Mother Goose's presence here

maybe being an explanation for this.

- Oh, but also a witch to a witch.

- A witch to a witch, exactly.

To your knowledge, Alba is the first witch

other than Mother Goose
that you've all met.

- I was about to say.
- [Emily] That's why I kind of asked.

- She does not appear to have

any kind of menace to all of you,

and did seem as though a
lot of her approach here

was just for the business
that she had with Mira.

You don't see someone

who's looking at you like, ah, the heroes!

Ooh, your book! You don't
see this sort of thing.

You see someone who is mostly
here on her own business

and is regarding you as a curiosity.

- We were interested in
what was happening out here.

We got- you know, wherever
the wind takes us,

is what I like to say.

- The wind literally shot us
here. Caused a lot of damage.

- I'm going to do one of my messages,

which is just, are we lying to her?

- I don't think we need to lie to her.

We are trying to unite the princesses,

because we have reason to believe

that the fairies are working against us.

- And if we can unite the princesses,

they can destroy the fairies or something.

- We stand a chance of
being able to stop them.

- All right, very well,
so you've aligned yourself

with Snow White and
Cinderella and their w*r.

- Oh, you're familiar.
- Exactly.

- You know. Okay.

- Aye, both sides of that
conflict have approached

a number of witches throughout
the Neverafter, and...

She looks around and says,

Mira, would you do me a favor, lass,

and make ready the boat for our escape

from this wretched, donkey
bone encrusted wasteland?

- I actually thought it was pretty nice.

- You see as Mira goes away-
- Whoa!

(Emily laughing)

- I don't know what it
was before, Pinocchio.

- Some of us like it here.

Wasteland?

- There's an element of nostalgia.

Why don't we take some
whiskey and bubblegum with us?

Because that's sort of what-

- It's a difference of opinion.

I didn't mean to make it a thing.

- Can I ask her, which other
witches are you talking about?

I myself am also-

- I thought I recognized this about you.

Pray tell, what is your name?
- My name is Timothy Goose.

- Well, Goose, it is a pleasure,

in that case, to make your acquaintance.

I had been reached out to.

I have a standing invitation to speak

with one of the eight
great fairies of this land,

a golden, radiant fairy
with hair of turquoise.

(players all humming in recognition)

- Yes, well.
- Familiar.

- She's very about getting things

back to how they once were,
and that being the answer,

but we're really not on
that side of the coin.

We don't think that it can be that easy.

- Can I ask, why would you

not just obviously ally
with the princesses?

- Wait, did she just send
Mira off to ready a boat?

- Yeah, she did.
- Can we see Mira?

- [Brennan] Yeah, she's
off readying the boat.

- Okay, sorry. I got worried.
- She sent them off

and was basically like,
the reason I sent Mira off

to prepare the boat is I believe

all of you,

this is not your first
life or your first world.

- No.
- Is it hers?

- Aye, 'tis Mira's.
- Okay.

- Alba looks and says, aye, 'tis true.

They've approached myself, as well as

a number of my kind.

I believe they may have even approached

the great one herself.

- Is that the Baba Yaga?
- Aye, 'tis.

- Have you encountered
her before, in the flesh?

- Aye, I have.
- Will you tell us about it?

Or are you magically bound
to never speak of it?

- No, I can speak about it.
- Okay.

- [Brennan] I'm a full-
- I'm not disapointed.

- Would you prefer that I was unable

to speak of the
interactions I've had with-

- No, of course not. What was it like?

Were you cursed by her?

Is that how you found
yourself to become a witch?

- Let me be clear, I'm a full
witch, so nobody cursed me.

- I'm a full witch.
- I'm a witch of the whole,

do you know how much of
the Neverafter is sea?

A tremendous amount.

- Well, Timothy's path to witch-dom-

- Was through a curse by a rogue goose.

- Which is ironic, because
his name was already Goose.

- Yeah.
- [Brennan] A goose, you say?

- The Gander.

- Aye, the winds of spirit

move upon this place profoundly now.

The Gander's wrath is great indeed,

and I fear he seeks
out his long lost twin.

The last anyone saw the Golden Goose

was north, far north, the land of giants.

- You have a bone to
pick with giants, right?

- I don't like giants.

Not all giants. Giants I know.

Kind of destroyed my kingdom.
- Aye, they can do that.

They're powerful and unruly at times.

But no, to answer your question,
none of us have seen reason

to side with the
princesses or the fairies.

The fairies say that ruin
will come to the Neverafter

should we not side with them,

and we don't see or divine
that as being the case,

and the princesses say the same,

and we do not see that as
being the case, either.

On that nat 20 insight,
you see a little furrow

of Alba's brow here as she
mentions the princesses,

just a little thought that
she's keeping to herself.

- What do you mean?

I feel like it's very clear
that destruction is coming.

I don't know about you,

but my life does get worse and worse

as I die.

- Is your life supposed to be good?

- I just don't think

it's supposed to deteriorate this rapidly.

- Deteriorates, rots,
falls away, comes back.

- But there are a bunch of you.

There are a bunch of different universes

where your life looks a little
bit different in each one.

- Do you think I don't know that?

- Yeah, just...

Don't you want to have some push

into that space?

- Give me a wisdom saving throw.

- Hope I f*cking crit.

- [Brennan] What was it, what
was it, what was it? One?

- Imagine what the opposite is.

- It was technically a crit.
- [Brennan] Technically a crit.

- [Emily] It's critical.
- [Brennan] It's critical, for sure.

- Nat one. Don't you want
to have some sort of...

- Timothy is obviously a
witch. You practice witchcraft.

Alba is not a human
that learned witchcraft.

She has never not been the Sea Witch.

She comes from the sea itself,

something old and powerful and
beyond, similar to Baba Yaga.

There are some witches that are witches,

and there are some
witches that are witches.

Alba looks at you, and you begin

to sort of fall into her eyes,

and she looks at you,

and you realize that you
are Twice Upon a Time.

You have two sets of memories.

You see Alba is living

every version of her story,

all at the same time.

You see countless versions of her life

where she is caught and k*lled.

You see a version of her life where a ship

sails into the middle of
her stomach and kills her.

She's struck by lightning.

You see versions of herself
where she is a benevolent force

in the Little Mermaid's life,

and you just get suddenly this sense

of a type of consciousness

that can't really bring itself

to the level of urgency you feel

about your life and about
the people you care about.

It's just, she's in every
iteration of the story,

all at the same time,
countlessly, forever.

- So no one timeline is precious to her.

- [Brennan] No.
- That's kind of sick.

- Are you aware of the Authors?

- You leave that vision, and
she turns to you and says-

(Ally whimpering feebly)

- [Emily] Timothy!
- Whiskey and bubblegum.

- I got you, I got you. I'm right here.

Pop that in there.

- It's just so hard to be you!

- Sorry, what did you say?

- It seems kind of hard to be you.

- That's actually quite
nice. I've never had...

That's weirdly affirming
to hear someone say that.

- I just kind of lay down.

- It's really low alcohol content.

We don't age it for too long.

- She turns to you and says,

can you say that name once more?

- (gasps) Oh!

- Oh.
- Oops.

- I write it and show her.

- She looks and says, ah.

I've heard that name
spoken only once before,

by one who claimed to know them.

- Baba Yaga?
- [Brennan] Aye.

- Baba Yaga knows them?
Does she like them?

- I would not wager

any amount of treasure nor magic

that my great and dear older sister

likes anyone.

- Oh, this is your older sister.

- I mean that in a sort of collegiate-

- [Ally] Oh, I see, like a sorority.

- Aye, you understand.

- Did you come here just to save Mira

just from her father,

or are you working for some greater force?

- I work to my own ends, but
I did owe the child something.

She fell in love with a prince.

The prince's great grandfather
had wronged me in the past,

and I wanted to see him dead,

but there were certain
protections placed over his house

by some petty fey, and so
I needed to work around it,

and then the Little Mermaid
fell in love with the prince

and said, oh, I wish I had legs!

And I was like, daft.

But, made a deal. Got her voice.

Said, make him fall in love!

The point was not for her to
die. I didn't want her to die.

The point was, you get her in a position

where she sees that the prince
is a nutter, and then you...

Her sisters sold me their hair,

and then I gave them a knife
that could k*ll the prince

if the Little Mermaid
was the one who did it,

and I said, bingo bango,

I get around the sort
of ward, the protection,

she kills the prince,
my curse still works.

But she didn't k*ll the prince, so.

- True love.

- You know, I hear a lot
about this true love,

and to me, if the love's
true, why are you marrying

another princess and
not the Little Mermaid?

- Well, no, but her love
is true. Her love is true.

- Oh, that's, like, no.
- [Zac] Makes me real sad.

- I mean, I don't like it,

but I feel like you could be right.

- Who is the prince marrying?

- I don't know, some
princess. Some landlubber.

Probably they'll have a nice,
you know, life together,

now that he's not m*rder*d,
so, you know, disappointing.

But I thought that she
would, you know, do that,

and the truth is, in many other worlds,

she refuses

and dives overboard and,
you know, martyrs herself

rather than let anything
bad happen to the prince.

But this version, in the times of shadow,

I thought there was a chance

that things would be gruesome enough here

that she would still do the
deed and plunge the dagger in.

- And she didn't.
- [Brennan] Aye, she didn't.

- Interesting.
- What business have you here?

You've decided that you're
bringing the young lass

off to this council of princesses, then?

- Yeah.

- Yes, we're not sure
necessarily that the princesses,

of which I kind of am one,
but you know what I mean.

- It's hard to know if
they're actually good

or if they're just young and
hot and look cool with weapons.

- Right, but also, the fairies-

- I don't think we've
ever discussed that angle.

- I feel like are definitely bad, so.

- Yeah, the fairies, I
think, are bad for sure.

- I know we don't want it
to be exactly the same,

but we want it to change
in the way that the-

- I mean, I feel like we know
that at least the princesses

have a way to overcome what
the Authors have wrought.

- Shh!

- Oh, sorry.
- Are we not supposed to say?

- We've been drinking a lot
of whiskey and bubblegum.

- Pinocchio and Gerard,

go ahead and give me some
charisma saving throws.

- Hey, new key word for them.
- I have a minus one.

- Why don't we call them the Arthurs?

- The Arthurs.
- [Siobhan] Good idea!

- That's good. We can
picture them as Arthur.

- I actually still have
bardic from last time.

We'll hang onto that. Please.

(Murph blows on his dice for luck)

Okay, it's not great.

- But a bardic could really change that.

- Seven plus...

Jesus Christ, I'm f*cked.

Eight.

- Eight.
- 16.

- [Murph] No!

- Oh boy.
- [Brennan] There you go.

- I can say whatever I want.
- How many do you have?

Okay, I think I didn't
remember that the princesses

are going after the Arthurs.

- The princesses didn't even
really know about the Arthurs.

- Yeah, I thought they didn't
know about the Arthurs.

- They don't really know about them,

so our sort of, I think,
read on the situation is,

we know the fairies are trying
to put things back to normal

when things can't really
go back to normal,

so we're sort of against
them forcing that.

The princesses want to fight that.

That seems like a noble fight, although-

- We're also traveling with a princess

who's really quite powerful.
- Yes, and-

- [Emily] It's a good
testament to princesses.

- Takes one to know one, little girl.

- I look behind me. Who?

- [Ally] You!
- But there does seem to be

this looming threat of the Arthurs

that sort of no one is
properly worried about.

- Alba looks and says,

I might be happy to give you a word

of advice or caution,

but I'm not in the habit of
doing anything helpful for free.

- Okay, we could put on a dance.

- Now, that was so lightning fast.

I sort of made a cryptic
ask for something of value,

and you didn't even need a moment.

- [Ally] Okay, I'll do it.

- I mean, art is valuable.

- I only know courtly
dances that have a partner.

- A-one, a-two, a-skiddly diddly doo!

- But I bet Gerard knows them!
- Yes, we can dance. Ready?

- [Siobhan] Oh, I haven't done
this in a really long time.

- Pinocchio stripping on his nose.

- I'm just stripping on Pinocchio's nose.

- The three of us are just doing

the stripper walk around my nose.

- Me and Gerard are doing the
most impressive, crisp waltz

anybody's ever seen.

- How about this? Does
this do something for you?

- We barely look like our feet are moving.

- [Lou] How about it?

- [Murph] Gliding.
- [Siobhan] So smooth.

- All right, well, if you
need a ride back to land,

I'll give you a ride.

- Wait, what if we k*ll
the prince for you?

- Did the prince do anything bad?

- [Siobhan] What did the prince do?

- [Ally] I just want to
know how juicy this is.

- His grandfather

was rude to me!

- Wait, what? His
grandfather was rude to you?

- Greatly rude to me.

- Destiny's Children, come
over here for a second.

Destiny's Children, that's
what we call ourselves.

- Sidebar, sidebar.

- Hey, let's just slow
our roll a little bit.

We don't have to promise any huge task

that we don't even know what they are.

- Because even in that story,

I was a little worried
it was unsympathetic.

- Even the grandfather I
don't think I'd want to k*ll.

- We've got a long list
of bullshit to do, okay?

- This is Baba Yaga's kind of sister.

- Why don't we just see
if there's something

that's a little smaller?
- Why don't we see if we can

do something not murdering?

- We did offer the house.
- We can give her

one of those things, the stuff
you found in the spider pit.

Maybe she wants a-
- [Ally] Oh yeah, the bridle.

- She probably wants something weird,

like our voices or something.

- You're not using your voices, are you?

- I am absolutely using my voice,

thank you so much for asking.
- I'm a trained singer.

- What do you do when
you take someone's voice?

- You know, I sort of keep it.
- As just a little treasure?

- [Brennan] You see she says,
can I show you a picture?

- [Siobhan] Like a Funko Pop?

- Yeah, you can show me a picture.

- She opens a little clamshell,

and there's just a huge Blue
Man Group style pipe organ

full of other people's voices
with two little foam mallets.

- And this woman wasn't
impressed by our dance.

- [Lou] Okay.
- [Emily] Okay!

- You can give me a
group performance check.

- Yeah, let's do it, let's
do it. With the nose?

- Everybody crit.
- [Siobhan] Oh boy.

- Everybody crit.
- Hey!

- I got a six.
- [Murph] I got a 17.

- I got a two, minus one, becomes a one.

- I got high. 21!
- [Brennan] 16, 17. 21?

- I'm not wearing the right shoes.
- 17 as well.

- I got a six.
- [Brennan] 17 is it.

So you see she does take a
moment to sort of furrow her brow

and be like, better than normal dancing.

- Is she playing the music
out of her little shell,

and we're dancing to it?
- Yeah, play! Play!

- [Brennan] I don't have
it here, it's enormous.

It's back at my sea cave.

- Oh, it's a picture of
the setup. I see, I see.

- A picture of it.
- [Emily] I see, I see.

- But didn't this brighten your day?

♪ If you want my body ♪

- That was so perfect. I
never danced to that before.

- So, let me just talk
to you for a second.

- I mean, the group
performance check worked,

so isn't that enough?

- Do you have anything in mind?

- Yes, do you?

- We don't want to k*ll anyone.

- I would not ask you to k*ll anyone.

Listen, I'm a woman of
great magical means,

and if you have any sources of magic,

I will never say no to it.

There's always a chance
I'll be able to take

a treasure of yours and parlay
it into a future scheme.

- I don't want to part with this,

but I do have a blessing,
a terrestrial blessing

that might be really
pretty rare for the sea.

I hand her a Goodberry.

- You can't give that up!
- [Siobhan] She's a child.

- No, hey, you can't give that up.

We need that. We need that!

- I'll just hop in the
boat, take you to land.

- No, no, wait, if this is
worth it, what if this is good?

- I just don't have
anything else, that's why.

- Give her a magical item.
Nobody's using the golden bridle.

- Give her the golden bridle.

- If we find a centurion...

- Senator.
- Senator.

- Do we want to trade?
- Yeah, what do you hand her?

- And what were we getting in return?

- Would you be interested
at all in the golden bridle?

- Actually, all we're doing-
- Golden bridle?

That's the sort of thing

that a witch could give to a young lass.

- What are we talking
about hearing from you?

- It's not much, but it is
a sliver of a conversation

I had with my older
sister when she told me

why she had turned down the princesses.

- Come on, come on, we really want this.

- Okay, I was going to say
that's not worth a golden bridle,

but actually, I think that is.

- All right. (sighs)

Take my golden bridle.

- She clutches it, goes...

(Brennan cackling triumphantly)

Thunder.
(thunder booming)

In their entreaty to
the oldest of our kind,

I believe it was the Princess Rapunzel,

who has her own feelings about witches,

and the meeting between them ended

because the Baba Yaga
swore to snatch the tongue

out of Rapunzel's mouth
if she uttered a lie.

At the end of their conversation,

the Baba Yaga posed a question
to the Princess Rapunzel,

asking her after the entreaty
and desire to stop the fairies

and stop the return of the Neverafter

to the times before the times of shadow.

The Baba Yaga posed a question

at the end of the Princess Rapunzel's

rather magnificent oratory,

which was,

if instead of threatening

based on whether you uttered a lie,

I had instead conditioned my statement

on you telling the truth,

would I now hold your tongue in my hand?

The Princess Rapunzel curtsied
and left without a word.

- So she was already lying from the start?

- Or not telling the full truth.

- Yeah, not telling the truth.
- [Lou] A half truth.

- Mira walks back over and says,

I'll tell you, that boat is ready.

- Great, wow.
- [Brennan] That boat is ready.

- Mira, are you all right to go meet

with the other princesses and
possibly fight the fairies?

- To be perfectly
honest, I don't really...

I don't know.

If you're asking me what I want to do,

every step I take hurts
like knives in my feet,

and all of my sisters are gone,
and my father was just eaten

by a giant fish, and the ocean is,

instead of being a wondrous place,

is now a terrifying place,

and I can't breathe water anymore.

I am

complete driftwood.

- Well, why don't you
come with us, have a nap?

- Okay.

- And you don't have to
decide straight away.

- We'll tell you everything that we know,

and we can just kind of
put our heads together

and meet these other princesses,

and we'll feel them out together.

- I think we're in the
same position as you are.

We don't totally know

what we want, either, but it seems like-

- Alba holds the golden bridle and says,

I think not only do you
not now what you want,

I think it's quite possible
you don't know what you have.

And here, you see she eyes
your book for the first time.

- What do you think this is?

- The book you hold is

a true book.

That is why the people you put
into it are not truly gone.

Inside that book is the same

as being here in this story, no lesser.

That book, and I believe
you may have recently seen

a castle made of books much like that one.

- Whoa, that's the in between?

- Aye, 'tis the origin
of a book like that.

The only difference is this.

It looks to me like that
book is mostly blank.

- Yeah.

- I've seen many true books,
things of great power.

And here, she gestures to
Pinocchio's book he's holding.

A true book can do great
workings in the world.

I've never seen a blank true book before.

- Do you know who disrupted everything

and put these in here?

We've now met a couple
other people like me

who have books like this.

How did we get these?

Who introduced that into our ecosystem?

- Who brought the Gander?

I don't know, Mother Goose.

And she says, sun's
getting low over the sea.

Time for me to be going.

- Before you leave,

please don't hex me for
suggesting this, but-

- You've primed me to hex you.

- I know. Will you guys
heal me if she hexes me?

- Yeah, I got you.
- [Murph] Yes, we're good.

- I think, actually,
you can still help Mira.

And I look at the golden bridle.

Is that a Summon Steed kind of thing?

- There needs to be a beast
for you to be able to-

- But Mira could use
that to then kind of have

someone to ride so she
doesn't have to walk.

- Okay, I'll trade you for
this extremely rare berry.

- No, you can't give that up!
- I know, I just-

- You can't give that up!
- Your favorite, an heirloom!

- That berry!
- [Lou] What are you doing?

- Your dead son gave it to you!

- But I'm being 100% serious about this.

I would trade this for the
bridle to be back to us.

- That's crazy.

- And this. And it's a US American dollar.

- [Siobhan] Oh boy.

- Are you coming with us
in the boat, or are you-

- [Brennan] The boat is yours.
- We appreciate that.

- [Lou] Thanks.
- The g*n, too?

- Aye, I can't get it
off. It's screwed in.

Mira steps into the boat and
sort of has that lost look

on her face, and Alba
starts to sort of walk

towards an edge of the docks.

Best of luck on your journeys.

(sound of bridle jingling)
Thank you again for the bridle.

Hope you keep your head about you.

What you hold, you have
bargained for dearly,

and I think you know.
- Yeah, thank you.

- She turns and steps
out, steps onto the sea,

spreads her arms, and rises on water

as storm clouds crackle overhead.

Flies off into the storm.

- I guess we'll take
the boat and we'll just-

- Yeah.
- Sort of ride the long way.

- Yeah, head back to land.

I can get in and kick for a little bit.

We can take shifts.

- Oh, your little puppet feet

are going to kick for a little bit?

- You see that Mira
actually can get an oar

and seems to be pretty
good at nautical stuff.

- I'll get the other one.

- I'll cox.

h*!

- And you take off.

To where do you think you will head?

Is the plan to head back

to the other princesses, to Snowhold?

- Are we close to anything

that was really on our
list while we're over here?

- I know that we had, at one point,

Death, the Big Bad Wolf,
was going to go try

and get us an audience with the Baba Yaga.

- That's your two big to-do
list things, essentially, are,

do you want to go to the princesses

or do you want to go follow
the Big Bad Wolf and Baba Yaga?

- Look, we got to go to
both of these places.

One's going to be bad.
One's also going to be bad.

And then we have to figure out

what the f*ck is going on here.

- [Siobhan] True.
- And so, what do we think

is going to be the bad
thing we have to do first?

- That's a good question.

I mean, I'm in control of my destiny now.

- There are no taut strands of destiny.

They feel like your success in the battle

has kind of untangled them.

I will say, though, you do feel,
having bested that Dogfish,

you don't feel like
destiny's directing you.

You feel much the
reverse, and in fact feel

a brand new power come under
your command in this moment.

- Yeah, man, I'm sorry.

I don't feel a pull in
any particular direction.

If anything, I feel like
it's more asking me now.

- It seems like we're going to need

to speak to the Baba Yaga at some point.

Is there a chance that we'll
need her power or wisdom

when it comes to whatever
the princesses are facing?

- I just think her power or wisdom

is going to come at a really high price,

and I want you to see Elody
when you're, like, at your best.

- That's very nice of you.
- But what if she gives him

something that makes him handsome?

- Like a really buff frog.
- That would be actually sick.

- So maybe the price
would be worth it for him.

- What world is this that
she says, in exchange

for information, you have to
let me make you really buff?

- [Ally] I make you a really buff frog.

- I have to make you hot.

I think let's not think about this

within the context of my
relationship, and maybe-

- Wow, you've really changed.
- [Siobhan] That's mature.

- Thank you.
- [Ally] Such a sick team player.

- Thank you, Tim.
- I don't know, my heart,

I mean, if we just went around and voted,

my heart says princesses.

- My heart says princesses too.

- I mean, maybe it's just
because I want to meet them,

or maybe it's because it's easy.

- They have this impending battle.

It's probably happening now.
- Yes, that's true.

We could be too late.
- Forgot about the battle.

- I, a little bit, am leaning Baba Yaga,

but if everybody else is
pro-princess, let's go princess.

- I'm, like, mainly princesses,
but then I'm sun Baba Yaga.

- I'm, like, rising and-
- To the princesses!

- [Brennan] You take off
and head to the princesses.

The boat arrives at land,

and your coach is awaiting
you there, I believe.

- Our coach awaits.

- Did we have a full-on long rest?

- Yes, yes yes yes.
- [Emily] Oh, really?

- Yeah, full long rest.

The Baron of Bricks' sort
of self driving carriage

has come to meet you out
here as you rowed to shore,

and will transport you back to Snowhold.

- I look to Gerard and I say, I mean,

I was saying something kind
of weird, but honestly,

you know, you used to be so
like, I'm going to find Elody!

Yeah, you seem kind of
like you're really trying

to figure out the big questions.

- Thank you, yes, and
if I could be honest,

I'm a little afraid to face her.

- Really?
- Yeah.

- I give your shoulder a squeeze.

I give you a bardic
inspiration. I understand.

Hopefully, you know, she sees you.

You are still kind of
a buff frog right now.

- I've gotten some muscle
definition for sure.

- [Ally] Got some delts for a frog.

- Gerard, what kind of face

do you want to present
to her when you see her?

- I think maybe the problem in the past

was that there was a lot
of flash and presentation,

and I think I just want to-

- Go nude.

- Go nude?

- Emotionally.
- Emotionally nude.

- Yeah, emotionally nude, exactly.

- I would like to emotionally be nude.

- Okay, then I will support that.

- So you arrive.

You see Mira looks up at the
carriage waiting and goes,

yes, yes, incredible.
- We're not going to walk.

- Good good good, yeah,
we don't need that bridle.

Just so you know, Mira,
I can turn into a horse,

so you give me the sign
and I'll turn into a horse.

- [Ally] Oh yeah!
- You can turn into a horse?

- Yeah.

- [Ally] And you can
just ride a horse around.

- Would that be fun?
- That's great.

Is it going to be a
full transformation, or?

- Yeah, you hear my bones crack,

and everything becomes disjointed.

It's a wolfy horse.
- [Siobhan] Imagine a horse,

but really sharp teeth.

- Can you do it now just
so I can get a look?

- Yeah, real quick, sorry.

(bones cracking)
- [Ally] Oh god!

- So what Ylfa described as a horse,

which is a bone-snapped,
vivisected little girl.

- Hop on, honey.
- Okay.

- Honey, hop on.
- Just hop on, Mira.

- All right, kids.

- Ooh, whatever process that
is makes your skin really hot.

- Yeah, yeah, something's dying
and being reborn every time.

- She goes, okay, well I'm
glad that that's an option,

and that we have the carriage.

- I hop on. Let's go!

(Emily laughing and chuffing
as a horse/girl/monster)

- [Brennan] A nightmare.

- I go in the carriage with Mira.

- I also go in the carriage.

- So, the carriage of the Baron of Bricks

whisks you away from the
shore as you travel north,

back towards Snowhold, through the lands

of the Kingdom of Marienne, now fallen.

You look throughout these lands

as you travel in the carriage

and see

a land

not crushed or destroyed.

Pib, you look around and
don't see ruins here.

There's no people, it's empty,

but it's not like the one you
remember from your first life.

- I remember big feet prints around here.

- So this is where you're from.

- In the past one.

But I don't remember it, right?

- There's a weird memory
thing. Something's messed up.

You remember those seams
from The Lines Between,

those little seams of reality
that would kind of open?

It almost feels something like that.

Give me a perception check
and an insight check.

- Perception.

19.

Insight.

Seven.

- The insight's only a seven,

so you feel that strange memory.

You do get a flash of gold,

something.

You see leaves and vines
stretching off into the sky.

You see leaves and vines
stretching off into the sky.

- From this place?
- No, unfamiliar.

Just a momentary vision of
a strange, false memory.

On a 19 perception, as you're
traveling through this place

totally unpopulated by human beings,

you see there's animals or
loose livestock walking around,

and one morning, cresting over a hill,

early, soft dawn light
coming in through the trees,

and you crest over in the morning.

You're one of the first ones up,

because you can sleep
in the moving carriage.

It just goes on its own.

Mira's curled up near Sleeping Beauty.

You guys are are bundled.
Pib, you're up and looking.

You see, on a 19 perception,

there are some goats
and some sheep nearby.

Up on a hill, you see that
there is a mule with a mustache,

and you see the mule sees
the approaching carriage

and just turns and begins
to at first sort of trot,

and then sort of run off into the woods.

- I'm going to take off after this mule.

- Do you take any of us?

- No.

- You sprint off after this animal.

- Yo, Alphonse!

- No! No!

- That's not real. Mules
don't mustaches, Alphonse.

- I don't know! Who are le Fonz?

And you take off into the woods,

easily catch up, and
you see a panting mule,

the corner of the mustache coming off.

You see the mule turns and says.

Hello, you want-

(mustache ripping)
(Brennan gasps)

- I put it on.

(Ally laughing)

- What the hell are you doing here?

- What the hell are you doing here?

- Where did you guys go?
- We went, we got carried

by the wind all the
way out into the water,

we rescued a princess,
and now we're back here.

Where did you go? Why
are you here by yourself?

- I got sent here by Aesop

because you guys vanished
from The Lines Between!

You guys completely vanished!

- We got, there's a lot of-

- Listen, you keep going on your business.

I'm not going to narc on
you. They sent me here.

This place doesn't even
have people in it anymore.

It's just full of grass.

Turns out if you play your cards right,

if you're just a mule
in a post-apocalypse,

you can just hang out.

- Yeah, until I find you

and I rip the mustache off your face.

To start, what are you doing?

What do you think happened here?

- I don't know.

It's not like the world we
come from, that's for sure.

I don't see any big footprints anywhere.

- No, I don't either.

- Something weird.

I think there's something,

like, hiding somewhere,
I don't know where.

- Around here?
- Maybe not here.

This place seems pretty relaxed.

But I think there's something about giants

that we're supposed to have forgotten

or something like that, I don't know.

Things got pretty dicey
back in The Lines Between

when you all skedaddled, by the way.

That whole wing collapsed.

There was some kind of monster

running around in that part of the castle.

What the hell happened?

- Can I make an insight check?
- [Brennan] Yeah, go for it.

- That's, like, a 10.

- You think Alphonse is a
dolt. There's not anything.

You see he goes, listen, all right,

you don't have to tell
Aesop that I'm here, okay?

Because, you know, I got out of there.

It seemed like he was going
to be in The Lines Between

for a long time.

That place doesn't have
any sweet grass to eat,

so, you know, I'm not
going to say anything.

I'll just be here, and listen,

you got out of your
world, you're still alive.

So we did it, we made
it, hooray. We're done.

- You are so shortsighted.

What happened in The Lines Between

after the tower collapsed?

- Well, it collapsed and, you
know, the towers collapsed.

Scheherazade and Aesop used their books.

So they can't use their books right now

because they're trying to
keep whatever's there at bay,

and it requires their books
to be constantly used,

so Aesop opened a door to send me here

to come find you guys,

see if you were alive or
what had happened to you

or anything like that, but
I kind of parked it here.

- So I just happened to be driving by?

- Yeah, yeah! It's been going fine!

- Okay, wow. Whose idea was the mustache?

- I thought if anyone found me,

they would think I was a different mule.

- Listen, I don't want to treat you

like you did anything wrong,

because you've just been scared, right?

You're just a scared mule
trying to eat some sweet grass

and ignore literally everything else,

and I think that there's
something very sad about that

and very understandable about that.

But what happens if all those weird lines

rip apart all the sweet
grass in the world?

- That'd be really bad.

- Okay, well, do you remember anything

about any sort of leaves
spiraling up to anywhere?

- It's really weird.

A man came by here not too long
ago and asked me about that,

asked me something about a beanstalk.

- Did you recognize the man?

- Older fellow, said
he was from Pottingham.

I think he took off north.

He was talking about giants and, you know,

I know the Snow Queen has
giants under her command.

- Okay.
- Hey, look.

Not all animals are brave or clever.

I don't know what I would do

if the lines came and got
rid of all the sweet grass.

But I'm glad that...

I'm glad that you're around.

- You know, don't worry about it.

I take the mustache off
and I put it back on his...

- I don't know if it
means anything to you,

but maybe I've been a pretty lousy mule.

Maybe I should be a little more helpful.

I couldn't find Tomas
or his brothers here.

You know, there's no...

The buildings here weren't
crushed by giants or anything.

I couldn't find their bodies anywhere,

and there are bodies around.

There was a w*r here.

- So you think they're
alive in this world, maybe?

- Could be.
- Well, I would invite you

with us, but we're going right to that-

- I don't want to go to that.
- Okay.

- I want to stay here
with my fake mustache

and eat sweet grass, and
if it gets destroyed,

then I'll be sad, and
if it doesn't, hooray.

- Okay, well, this was helpful,

and I hope you get to eat
as much grass as you want.

And, you know,

I think what you're doing is
what you need to be doing.

- If it turns out I was helpful,

tell them to sing songs of me.
- I'm not going to do that.

- One song.
- Yeah, okay.

(Brennan laughing)

- You head back and see the carriage now.

You have to sort of hustle
to catch up with it.

You rush back to the carriage.
(Zac meows)

And after long travels,

you arrive one again in the frosty north.

- May I make a snowball real quick?

- [Brennan] You may
absolutely make a snowball.

- We got to get a sweater
on Sleeping Beauty.

I'll just be her sweater.

- Can you shape change
into a really wooly animal?

- I shape change into a sheep.

- In a kind of weird dad joke way,

I throw a snowball at Sleeping Beauty.

- Go for it, yeah. Make
a little attack roll.

- She's freezing!

- I'm going to throw one at Mira.

- [Brennan] Okay, incredible.

- 16.
- [Brennan] 16.

- I got a...

Do I have proficiency
in snowball throwing?

- Sure, yeah.

- That's a 13.
- A 13. You do not hit Mira.

Mira goes to hurl a
snowball at you and misses.

The whole concept of aerodynamics,

of how you would throw something,

it just sails way over your head.

She's like, whoa!

Traveling through the north, you see,

glittering at the center of a vast tundra,

diamond white snow
spreading in flat expanse

for leagues in all directions,

a tall castle of ice

spires forth from the
center of the landscape.

Walking towards it, you begin to see

many, many snow covered mounds

with what look like rough-hewn,
frost covered stones

laid against them.

The stones have been
covered in a thin layer

of frost and rime, but there are many

here in this place as
the carriage approaches

on a now hard packed, icy road
through the snowy landscape,

and you approach the
castle of the Snow Queen.

- Are there any signs
on the barrows of who-

- You can give me survival.

You can get out and
investigate them, if you want.

- Can I do a history check?
- [Brennan] Sure.

- [Zac] What's a barrow again?

- Barrow is like a burial mound.

It's sort of like a mound that is covered,

sort of ancient, sort of mausoleum-like.

- I got a 21 history check.

- I would say 21 history is
enough to know these are fresh.

- These are fresh.
- And they're giant sized?

- There's no banner in the
top of them or anything

that's like, this is the graves of blank?

- No, they appear to be written

sort of plainly on the stone
with no banners flying.

- Oh, so the stones are a tombstone.

It's not to prevent their bodies

from being raised necromantically.

- Yes, yes yes yes, and
the barrows are large,

but they are large

in order to contain a body and some other-

- Those have got to be the
Snow Queen's, her soldiers.

Because, you know, Snow White's,

they just disappear into the mist.

- Sure.

- You're following Snow White's
army, the trail of her army.

- Okay, so these graves
are proof of the trail.

- Yes, these graves
are proof of the trail,

and you see banners flying
from the Snow Queen's castle

which show basically a field of black

with a sort of slender, white crown on it.

- We would recognize that banner

from the last time we saw Snow White?

- [Brennan] On a 21 history,
you would recognize that, yeah.

- Great.

- Should we have a plan in place

in case they immediately
do something weird?

If we got to get out, I don't know.

- Do you want to just have a codeword?

- [Lou] Yeah, or a sign.

- Okay, so we've got Arthurs.

- Oh, I like that.
- DW?

- Yeah, great.

- DW?

- Do this and say DW.
- We got to go, (exasperated) DW!

- As you arrive at the
castle, the carriage stops

at the arch, and all of
you look to behold now,

as the sun comes up, it's so freezing

that even direct sunlight
will not melt the snow here,

and you see that something shimmers

in the archway for a second,

and coming out of invisibility,

Cinderella takes off her helmet,
looks and goes... (sighs)

Rosamund. And goes in
to give you an embrace.

- I hug her back. Clank, clank.

- Clank, clank, clank.
- It's cold!

- Cold, very cold here.
Everything's quite cold in Snowhold.

She looks and says,

welcome to, formerly, the
castle of the Snow Queen,

now the castle, at least temporarily,

of the Consortium of Princesses,
the Daughters of the Crown.

Welcome. I have met
Sleeping Beauty before, but-

- We brought two other princesses.

- You see Mira steps-

- I look behind me. Who?

- Mira steps forward and
curtsies and says, hello.

I am Princess Mira of the merfolk.

Cinderella goes and says,

well, Snow White told me,
and I couldn't believe it.

How about it?

You see she says, I am Cinderella
of the Kingdom of Elegy.

A pleasure and an honor, my
sister, and embraces her here.

You hear a high, shrill voice
from up in the castle say,

should we set out some
places at the table?

And a beautiful young princess

who is Doc Ock-ing on her hair

comes down the castle wall.

(prehensile hair scuttling viciously)
(Emily laughing)

Hair monsters over, kind of floating.

But she's fully hanging from,
her hair kind of arcs over

and she's kind of dangling
from her own hair,

and she says, charmed, and curtsies,

and slowly is brought down to the ground.

She says, I am the Princess Rapunzel.

An honor, a delight, a privilege,

and a pleasure, honored guests.

Please, come in, come in,
come in out of the cold.

- You have some, I send
my birds up to get,

there's a couple of twigs in her hair,

and I send my birds up to pluck them out.

- Ooh, and you see she sort of fans

that section of her hair out.

She says, thank you very much.

- I'm not going to yell DW,
but this is big DW vibes.

- There's some DW energy. DWE.
(Emily laughing)

- It's MW, might worry.
- [Lou] Yeah, MW.

- [Ally] MW.

Well, it's great to meet you.
- Is the whole g*ng here, or?

- Yes, let's get you out of
the cold. Come right on in.

- I'll take a tea.

(players snickering)

- You see she says, tea?
- Yes, please.

- Hold on.

(prehensile hair moving closer)
(crockery rattling)

Teacup comes out of her hair,

which is trailing off into the castle.

- That's really impressive.

- All right, I'm walking it
back. I'm walking it back.

- [Brennan] She has fine
motor control on this hair.

- Wow, all right.

- I'm very tempted to play with your hair.

- Ha ha ha. Please don't.
- Okay. I'll try.

- Okay, well, let's get out there

and let's get out of this cold.

- Let's do it.
- So all of you walk

into the great grand
hall of this ice castle.

Anyone who wants to, give
me a perception check.

- Definitely.

- I'll tell you what I'm looking for.

I'm probably going to not do well

because I don't have good...

Okay, ooh! I got a 19.

I'm looking for Elody and
I'm looking at Gerard,

so you have to tell me how you feel, too.

- 24.
- I only got an eight.

- [Brennan] 24, cool.

- 11.
- [Brennan] Anyone beat a 25?

- No, 22.
- I got a four.

- Six, because this tea is hot!

- So you walk in looking for Elody.

As all of you enter the
castle, as you're walking up,

Cinderella says, I am deeply
sorry it took us so long

to come here after the
last time I spoke with you.

I'm glad to see that
you and your companions

have made it here at
least partially safely.

I mean, as safely as you
can be, given the manner

in which you tend to travel
from one world to the next.

- Sure, yes.

- But we've come here physically,

which is what took us
so long to arrive here.

- [Siobhan] How?
- It's difficult.

Snow White can do it more
easily, but there are ways to...

There are certain doors that
open up between the worlds

from time to time that can be traversed,

though it is very challenging,

and may at this point be impossible.

We nearly were destroyed by the
force of the Gander's wings.

- Oh wow.
- This world in particular,

this specific world of all
the worlds of the Neverafter,

his focus is on greatly.

- Yes.
- Which is very troubling,

but I understand that we
have seven of us here now.

Speaking of which.

And you walk into a hall

where there is a military
map spread on a table.

You see there are some
dwarven attendants here.

Arzt and Schläfrig and
Mürrisch are all here.

Snow White looks up and goes,

Rosamund, friends, hello.

You've made it back, and in record time.

Next to her, there is
a hulking monstrosity,

huge, muscular, fur-covered Beast.

(Brennan snarling bestially)

- Hello, I'm Rosamund.
- Bonjour.

- What's your name?
- La Bête.

- La Bête?
- You see Snow White says,

she is one of our number,
one of the princesses.

She is the Beast.

She looks over at you, Red, and...

(Brennan snorts warmly)

(Emily does the same snort)

- Bonjour, mademoiselle.

- Bonjour, miss.

Ma'am? Mademoiselle.

- Oui.

You see Snow says, our wonderful-

- Daddy yes, daddy no. Daddy yes?

- Her Highness the Beast
has been instrumental

in poring through the
Snow Queen's libraries

while we've been here,
which we spoke about

on our last meeting.
- Yes, what did you find?

- Much, much that concerns
the power you wield.

You see the last person
who's here at the table,

Princess Elody, in full golden armor,

kite shield over her back,
golden ball and mace head.

She turns to look at you,

and this is Elody from the first world.

- Elody.

I'm so glad you're all right.
I try to give her a hug.

- She goes to give you a hug.
- I'm glad you're all right.

We have some things to speak about,

but there's bigger things at hand,

so I won't trouble you

with the things...

The things of me.

- You see Princess Elody

turns to Snow White and
to the Beast and says,

may I speak with Prince Gerard privately?

You see Snow White turns
and says, of course.

Let us busy ourselves

with the business that
we were speaking of.

- Yes, the library.
- We love hanging out with him

but if you want to talk to him-

- Yeah, you're going
to have to twist my arm

to take him away, but I'll let you do it.

- Go ahead and give me
a group deception roll.

- I light a little match

and then make a little fire for them.

- He actually just won a
snowball fight 80 to 1.

Hey, that's pretty good.
- You don't have to make

a deception check on that one.

- I got a dirty 20.
- [Brennan] Dirty 20.

- I got an eight, unless I
can do it with advantage.

- [Brennan] You may not.
- 22.

- [Brennan] 22.

- 16.

- 13.
- Okay.

17 on the die. She goes-

- I didn't put them up to this.

I know it seems like the type of thing

I would do, but I didn't.

- So you're traveling...

Okay.

I'm very glad to see you.

It's been explained to me

how this all sort of
works, that... (sighs)

I found your body in the other world.

- Oh.

- And I was very...

I was destroyed. I was
destroyed to see it.

I am glad that you are, in some way,

still here, still alive.

- I've been hearing of
your exploits, and I've...

That's sort of why all my
friends are putting on an act.

I think they really were excited

for us to meet again,

because I've really wanted

to say some things to you.

I'm just, I'm sorry.

I know that you've been
dealing with all of this

for much longer than I've
been dealing with it,

and I'm sorry that I
made you do that alone,

and that my desire

and that my desire

to sort of keep our happy ending

to sort of keep our happy ending

meant that I was pretending
that bad times weren't here,

and that meant that I wasn't
there for you in the bad times.

So, you know, I don't expect
anything of you, and...

I don't know

exactly where we left off,

but if

you've moved on,

which I would understand if
you have, that's all right,

and if you haven't,

we can figure it out
after all of this, maybe.

I'm rambling, but I just
wanted to say I'm sorry.

(Brennan sighs)

- I appreciate it.

I don't know that you've done anything

so horrifying that it
warrants forgiveness,

but I accept the apology.

- Well, I think as your partner,

the trouble you were taking on

should've been my trouble as well,

but it was something
you had to face alone.

- I can't blame you, Gerard.

You were a prince.

You were cursed,

and you escaped,

miraculously.

A condition was met that
never should've been met,

and you should have been
swallowed by a heron

in a lake outside the castle.

And you weren't,

and maybe you were just aware

that no matter what you did
for the rest of your life,

the story people were
going to tell about you

was that there was a period of
years where you were a frog.

If you'd become amazing at statecraft

or signed some important treaty,

well, that's just what princes do.

That's not the kind of thing
they tell stories about,

and I never faulted you

for believing

that it had ended.

And I think I carry a lot of anger,

because I think the way I was brought up

by my mother and father led me to believe

that at the end of extraordinary
and unprecedented things,

you just sort of float

like a lily pad on a pond.

But it never really
stops, and the truth is,

the adventures I had
falling in love with a frog

were one of the simplest, most
straightforward of my life,

and all of the things they
don't tell stories about

were infinitely harder.

And I guess I assumed
you would come with me,

and I had a lot of anger and
resentment that you weren't.

But when I saw your body

in Elegy,

I don't know, a lot of that anger left.

So I appreciate you saying
what you needed to say.

- Yes, I don't blame you for being angry.

I think that the story
that's happening now,

I've come to learn,

will maybe lead to something better.

Because you're right,
stories don't just end.

- There's a whole lot
left in that ever after.

If you had never found
me, if I hadn't been able

to come here, what would you be doing now?

- If I could be honest,
Elody, if I didn't know

you were out there fighting,
I wouldn't have done it.

I would have done nothing.
But you inspire me.

- I'm going to...

I just need a minute.
- Of course, yes.

- And she excuses herself from the hall.

- I think Gerard just has a sit.

- For everybody, scale of 1 to 10,

how froggy is Gerard feeling right now?

- I think the parts of him
that are ashamed of himself

are making him feel

more frog-esque,

and then also realizing that, kind of,

the frog body has helped him

in some ways along his adventure,

so I don't even think
he's thinking of himself

as a prince right now.

- Yeah, it takes you a second.

You just sit to have a moment,

because the conversation with
Elody, she didn't yell at you.

There was no anger, but
it also didn't resolve.

It wasn't like a joyful reunion,

and I think partway through
sitting in this empty room,

because I think your friends
have gone off to the library,

part of the way through this moment,

you realize that you are sitting, like,

your butt totally on the
ground with your legs

fully folded to either side
of you, perfect frog pose.

Your musculature and
skeleton has changed so much

that you're able to perfectly do that sit.

- Concerning.
(players laughing)

- Sitting like a frog,
saying, "Concerning."

- Concerning, concerning.

Snow White and the Beast
are ready to head off

to the library with Cinderella as well.

Rapunzel looks and says,

would anyone like to be put up?

Some rest or a change of
clothes or anything like that?

- Yeah, actually. I would like
to have my little quarters.

I'm carrying so much stuff.

I would love to put some of it down.

- [Brennan] Absolutely.
- Some kind of blanket.

- You see that Snow White says, very well.

You can meet the Beast and myself.

We'll be in the library whenever
you're ready, Mother Goose.

- Great, I mean, if anyone
else wants to be chatting

about the books and stuff.
- I'll come to the library.

- I'll go to the library as well.

- I'll go with Tim, put our
stuff down, get settled.

- Yeah, put our stuff down.
- [Brennan] Yeah.

- I think I kind of want to
go get a vibe for Rapunzel.

So I'm not actively spying,

I'm not going through medicine cabinets,

but my eyes are darting,
my sniffer's going.

- Give me a little perception check.

- Can I also make one?
- [Brennan] Yeah.

- Are your sniffers going?
- My sniffers are going.

I'm tapping stuff with my broken nose.

- Just see if I see anything. 14, 14.

- [Siobhan] I crit on a perception check.

- Yes!
- Yeah, I crit.

- You got a nat 20?
- [Ally] Yeah.

- On a perception check?
- [Ally] Yeah.

- Amazing, what are you looking for?

- There's just something,

it feels like there's
something off about her.

Maybe it's just the uncanny valley

of her hanging from her
hair, completely unconcerned.

- [Emily] Well, we also have intel.

- But there's also the Baba Yaga stuff.

Does this seem like a
person who is maybe made mad

by the circumstances of her life?

- Snow White referenced
Rapunzel as a diplomat.

- Uh-huh.
- And you see

that some of Rapunzel's energy
is just very incandescent.

You know how you can't see

what's inside of a light
bulb while it's on?

She has a very radiant personality
that I think on a nat 20

would come across as, oh,
this is a very fake person.

- Yeah.
- But it's hard to tell.

It's not like, oh,

and that's covering
something deeply sinister!

It's just like, that's a
very performative person.

- She's putting on a show for us.

- [Brennan] Right, putting on a show.

- Okay.
- Interesting. I convey that.

- I'm going to go to the library.

- Cool, so splitting up,
Gerard's talking with Elody

in the sort of map chamber.

Who's going to the library?
Give me a show of hands.

- I mean, Timothy,

I think it seems like maybe
you should go to the library.

- Yeah, I'll go to the library.

- I kind of just wanted to
get a vibe for Rapunzel,

but we just got the vibe
we're going to get, so.

- What happened to the Snow Queen?

- Rapunzel says, the Snow Queen.

Well, Snow White was able
to overcome the tsar,

at which point we marched together,

we had arrived at that point,
marched on the Snow Queen.

We parleyed. We attempted to
show the Snow Queen reason.

We asked to have some
access to her records.

She denied our request.

We asked if she would be
willing to give any knowledge

about where else that information
could be sought after.

She refused that request.

We said, well, our mission
is of dire urgency,

and knowing only one place that
this knowledge may be found,

we regret to inform you that
we cannot allow this matter

to rest at loggerheads indefinitely.

- So you besieged the
castle, and then she refused,

and so you took over the castle.

- We took over the castle.

Of the many things she refused,

one of them was the offer
of mercy provided to her.

- Oh, so she voluntarily-

- Was k*lled by you.

- Yes, I would say that she opted out

of a number of alternatives.

- [Emily] Okay.
- Got it.

- And is no more, in this world.

But of course, of the many
worlds that there are,

we can presume that the Snow
Queen is alive and well.

- Vibes are off.

- I took a tiny bit of French,

if anybody wants me to give
a shot talking to the Beast.

- [Emily] Yeah.
- [Ally] Definitely.

- You enter the library,
this massive, massive,

snowy white tomes, white,
leather-bound books

with silver and blue embossments on them,

and you walk in and see Snow White here,

again in her black lace dress,

who turns around and
says, welcome one and all.

Thank you so much for coming.

I think Mira is going to
just straight-up go to sleep.

Mira, she's just going to
collapse in a bed somewhere.

Snow White turns to look around and says,

so, Mother Goose.

Much has been discovered.

Well you know the wording of
your own wish for that book,

but if you come here and take a look,

and begins to show you a bunch of stuff.

Go ahead and give me an
arcana check with advantage.

- Dirty 20.
- You go pore through tomes

within the Snow Queen's
libraries, and you find a couple

that have scraps of parchment within them,

tiny, almost little bits of paper,

but you can sense almost
as you look at them,

you begin to get an eye for
that otherworldly parchment,

stuff from The Lines
Between, the worlds beyond.

- A true book.
- A true book, exactly.

Sitting here talking,
you see the Beast says,

we have looked for a long
time in this library,

awaiting your return
with the Little Mermaid.

There are a number of references

to the power that you hold here.

You have made a wish for this true book.

Looking in it, you see images,

and you see an image

of, sort of drawn in ink,

a hand moving through space,
and you get that same chill

of when you looked into the Canonade.

Snow White turns to you and says,

true books are almost never blank.

It's very rare to find

something with open pages.

Now, with a true book,

incredible things are possible.

The issue, though, is that,
as I'm sure you are aware,

your book will reject certain things.

Certain things will not
rest upon its pages.

We believe it is possible,
and you see she turns

to another page, and on that
20 arcana, you see an inkwell.

- Drawn?

- Drawn in, an illustration of an inkwell,

and you recognize it very
much from The Lines Between.

And you see Snow White says,

even with your own

terrestrial, simple writing ink

from within the Neverafter,
you are able to rescue people,

provide them restoration to
the canon of their own story,

hide them from the times of
shadow, secret them away.

As you said before, there are those

that you have already saved
and placed within your book.

They exist in a world

as real as the world we are in right now.

Your book that you wished for

from one of the most
powerful beings in existence

has the ability to create that.

But what we do not have
here, and she puts a finger

to the illustration of
the inkwell, is this.

- Mm-hm.

- [Brennan] With this and your book,

I believe truly anything is possible.

- But if the book is real

and the things in the
book are the same as here,

why can't we reach into
that book and grab them?

- Tim can.

Timothy's cast spells

by drawing on the power of
the stories within there.

He hasn't gone all the way
and pulled the people back out

because they're living in
probably a kinder world

than the one you are now in.

I think with that dirty 20
arcana, there's an understanding

that combining that ink you
saw in The Lines Between

with your book that
you made this wish for,

it dawns on you slowly,

would give you the power
of the Authors themselves.

You as-
- Do I actually believe that?

- You believe that based
on what you have read here,

this is what the great witch,
the Snow Queen, supposed.

- Okay.

- And you know that she was
a witch, much like, you know.

You know your book has
this profound magic,

but you also know that
the thing the book rejects

is sort of this terrestrial ink, right?

And you saw that ink in there

and saw the power that it wielded.

Whether Tim believes that or
not, I fully leave to you.

It wasn't a nat 20 arcana check, right?

What I will say is, if that is true,

you move from a conversation

that you and your friends have
been having for a long time,

which is, we don't know how it works.

We have the book, but we
don't know how it works.

We have the thing, but
we don't know what to do.

The truth is, if what this book is saying

here in the castle of the
Snow Queen is correct,

you determine the how.

That ink in that book, it's all of it.

It's all of it.

It's not a question of what
criteria do I need to satisfy,

it is the shuddering,
thundering horror of,

it can be whatever I say.
- Wow.

Can I spend some time reading these books

and talking with them and do
some sort of check to see,

because I feel like my
book and books like this

are kind of splintering.

There are so many worlds,
and it becomes less potent.

It's like, yes, I'm happy,
but this is one of 25 stories,

and I'm unhappy in all the other ones,

and what does that feel like?

Could I bring us back to an
original and master story?

And if so, could I make the
Authors, could I write them,

and write that they write good stories

where they're good to their characters?

- In a weird way, there's
not a question of power.

Do you have the power
to do that? Absolutely.

It's truly a situation of,
what would you ask for?

How would you word it?
What would you write?

And in terms of binding
the Authors with this,

that, you're almost unsure of.

You know the Authors use the ink

or are of it or are beyond
it or something like that,

but being like, could I use it on them?

It's possible. It's possible.

As you are going over those books,

you see that Snow White
turns to you and says,

I see now clearly that my
vision of the seven princesses

being assembled was obviously incomplete.

Again, you've already
dispatched the Baron of Bricks,

which was my plan after
dealing with Snowhold.

That being handled, the truth is,

our next goal,

easily and obviously, is
to make sure that that ink

does not fall into the
hands of the fairies,

because that is absolutely...

They wield the power of destiny.

That ink is destiny itself.

- What are you and the
princesses planning? How can we-

- If you had the ink,
what would you do with it?

(Brennan sighs)

- Freedom to avoid

the will of the fairies.

To not go back.

To not go back again and again and again.

- So you think they'll take
the inkwell and they'll try

to bring us back all to
our original stories,

and you don't want that to happen.

- Do you think it is possible

for the fairies to get
their hands on this ink?

- I mean, I suffered an
absolute psychotic break

just looking through the keyhole at this,

so I don't really see
them going into the room,

but maybe, I don't know.

The Stepmother is very powerful, it seems.

- You see that Cinderella
looks up and says, Stepmother?

You see Snow White turns and says,

we have much to talk about, Cinderella.

Cinderella looks at the
mention of the Stepmother,

and looks very unsettled.

You see that Snow White
turns to you and says,

the keyhole you saw this through,

it's not anywhere terrestrial,

because the eight fairies
are here in this world.

- Really?

- Yes, the eight fairies
are here in this world.

At the moment, the Gander's
force is so powerful

that none may leave at the moment,

but if that ink that you said
you saw through a keyhole

lies here in the Neverafter,

then they may be moving upon it right now

and we have no time to waste.

- I still have one question.

We are meeting you all,

and we've brought two princesses.

Obviously, we want you
all and your numbers.

But your position really
seems like an anti-position.

It's not what the fairies want.

The only thing you've
given us is, "Freedom!"

And that just doesn't...

That isn't specific enough.

What would you do with
the ink? What do you want?

Would you just sit on it
and keep it out of the hands

of people who would do
something wrong with it?

- She says, well, that's a start.

I mean, even knowing it exists
is obviously a huge threat.

But if you're saying that we are safe

and that the ink is not
within the Neverafter,

then we have time to discuss this.

It's your book, Mother Goose.

If you have a vision for what
you would write in it, then-

- I don't believe it's
in this world, right?

- I don't think it is, right?
Was the library in the sky?

- [Zac] Not technically.

- Yes, The Lines Between
is not this world.

- But we do have a way
back to The Lines Between,

and that's using the cloak of stars,

but only one person can go
back while they're wearing it.

- And they're going to be going back

to a nutso situation, I think.

- So this Lines Between, this
castle that you had been to

previously, that is where
this ink, this Canonade is.

- No, it's actually at
the bottom of the ocean.

- Yeah, no, remember, you got lost.

It's a labyrinth in between
the different stories.

I mean, you've traveled
between stories, right?

- Yes, I have, absolutely.
- They go physically, right?

- That library is disorganized.

They don't have a system.

There's no kind of filing situation.

The rooms keep disappearing.

- Yeah, thankfully with Red's
connection to the Hungry One,

we were able to get there
through the bottom of the ocean.

- [Brennan] Go ahead and
give me a deception check.

- Can I give a help check

by making no reaction?

- I'm going to use the lines of destiny.

- Red huffed and they puffed
and they blew the sea down.

- I got a 16.

- You're going to take it.
You're going to take that 16.

- I'm going to reroll with a luck point

to try to beat my 16.
- Okay.

- Yes! Okay.
- That's much better, okay.

Deception, that's a 24 deception.

- And you reached it through
the bottom of the ocean?

- We were able to reach it

through the bottom of the
ocean, through the Hungry One.

- Message me.

- I message Red.

- I'm just worried.

I'm not worried about her,
but there's a part of me

that's worried about if
Rapunzel hears about this,

that suddenly she might make a play.

- I think that we're not
in danger of the fairies

getting to the ink right now,

but maybe if they

get down there somehow.

- Is it just sitting at
the bottom of the ocean?

- No no no, the entrance
we were able to enter

was at the bottom of the ocean.

- You know when a bath...

- Yeah, like a bath, and then just a door.

- We messaged, and what
did you want to know?

- No no no, I was just saying,

we don't fully trust Rapunzel.

- [Zac] Rapunzel's not
in this room, right?

- [Brennan] No.
- Yeah, and if Rapunzel

finds out where it is, then, I don't know.

- I also didn't trust her, I don't think,

because it was just
very pointed questioning

and it felt a little like,
so we're fine, right?

So we're fine?

Because of course it's not
here, right? Where is it?

- And then she clarified,
and it's here? Okay, cool.

- [Ally] Yeah, yeah, so does
that feel okay? I don't know.

- Yeah, no, I just wanted to let you know

why I lied in case you felt-

- I decided we're going with it.

- Amazing, you see Snow White says,

very well, then we have the evening

to have you rest after your long journey.

In the morning, we can decide
the best course of action.

Mother Goose, we should decide

Mother Goose, we should decide

what makes the most sense
for you to attempt to do.

- Yeah, are you trying to
defeat the fairies in this world

or are you trying to get to the ink first?

- The ink, we have just now discovered,

is not in this world, which
poses a large problem,

given Cinderella's accounts of the Gander.

You see Cinderella speaks up and says,

we barely made it here.

I don't think we'd be able to make it out.

I don't even know what
magic you would need

to try to get back out
through the Gander's wings.

It's looking to corrupt this
place as fast as it can.

- Pib, maybe we should go see

what's going on with the giants.

- I'd love to,

but it feels complicated
to leave here for that.

- Well, there might be
beanstalks that lead elsewhere.

Something is going on if
the giants aren't here,

and in your world, they were here.

- Can I make an investigation check?

- Sure.

- I'm just looking for any
signs of the Snow Queen.

- [Brennan] Yeah, give me
an investigation check.

- I don't know.

- You see Snow White and the
Beast leave the chambers.

You see Snow White looks at you and says,

would you like to try some warmer dresses?

- I would love to.

Message me?
- I message you.

- Why don't I try and keep
the princesses distracted,

and you guys look around
this castle a little bit?

- Great, sounds good.
- Love it, great.

- [Ally] So you're still sitting,
but you're kind of nearby.

- Just sitting.
- You're here.

- Staring into the void.
- We're all here.

You're leaving to go try on warm dresses.

- So Pib, give me a stealth check, Pib.

- We're having a fashion montage

with my sisters, who are princesses.

- [Ally] Literally so
fun. I wish you could go.

- 15.
- You'll sneak around

and then look up in
the corner and just see

a trail of moving hair along
the molding of a hallway.

- That's what I thought.

- That's what I was worried about.

- She's always listening?

- Yeah, I think she's got tentacles.

- [Zac] I think she's always listening.

- Pib's investigating.

Is anyone else doing any
other sh*t like that?

- I would love to...

Do you tell us that, or motion to that?

- Maybe we go find that room

that you were trying to
put your stuff down in.

- Great, I think I try
to have a convo with them

that we all know is fake after
messaging and being like,

it's so great that we got
all the princesses together.

It's going to be great to work with them.

They have great ideas,
and hopefully we'll get

the Hungry One to bring us
to the bottom of the sea.

- Cool.
- We're having a conversation

about how fun it is to enter
the bottom of the ocean,

but we're talking and messaging.

- Can I do an investigate,
or can we all, for Mira?

- [Brennan] Yeah, yeah yeah yeah.

- Where'd she go?
- You guys go to find Mira.

You're with Snow White.

You walk into the chambers
of the Snow Queen herself,

and you see Snow White looks
and says, the Snow Queen,

she had a very athletic
build, very broad-shouldered.

- Cool.
- Yes, absolutely.

- It wasn't, like, a shoulder
pad situation? This was full-

- If you can believe this, it wasn't,

and there's actually one or two
in there with shoulder pads.

I think she liked the-
- Okay, I deeply respect that.

- You do have to respect it.

You see Cinderella walks in,

starts looking through, and says, wow.

Now, what is the point of a fur-lined gown

if you yourself are made of ice?

Is it the aesthetic? Is
that the only reason?

- There's nothing wrong with
a little bit of aesthetics.

- Of course, of course.

You see Snow White and
Cinderella look at each other

and are like, yeah, we are princesses.

Yes, absolutely. We get it, we get it.

- Montage!
- Montage.

Awesome winter dress montage.

- Everybody's trying on everything.

- Trying on this dead woman's clothes!

- Montage!

- This woman we m*rder*d's clothes.

- As I'm doing it, I'm
surreptitiously checking

the pockets for any clues or anything.

- Little clues and stuff.
Give me a perception check.

- [Siobhan] Great.
- Call it a DC 20.

- 20!
- Hey!

- You find only little sort
of hand warmers and stuff

in the pockets and things like that.

You do look onto the balcony
partway through and see,

with glass white hair

and a blood covered crown,

the Snow Queen's head just on the balcony.

- Oh.

Oh!

- Mm-hm.
- Wow, you, she...

You retired her!

- You see that Snow White says, yes.

I was utterly disappointed.

I really thought that she would see reason

before the end, and she did not.

- Wow, and the crown?

Magical, cursed, creepy?

- You see Cinderella just sort of goes,

you have to figure, at a certain point,

even money it's cursed, and
it's just not worth the effort.

- That's fair. That's absolutely fair.

- I don't want to be a Snow Queen.

- I mean, it is cool.
- You see Snow White says,

I might already be a Snow Queen.

- You kind of are.

- So Rosamund, have you put any thought

into what you would
change about your story?

- I think what I would
like to change about it

is that it has the capacity to change,

and there's not any
kind of predestination.

- Cinderella sits on the foot of the bed

and leans her spear against
it and puts her helmet

on the bed, and you see that Snow White

sits on a little
footstool, like an ottoman.

- I mean, if I'm being brutally honest,

wouldn't it be nice just to fall in love?

There's a simplicity to
the old story that I...

I understand that I didn't have any power,

and I understand that that's bad,

but I don't think hoping
for love is bad, right?

I don't know anymore.

It's all very confusing.

- I think love is wonderful.

I think there are many who deserve it.

- But I don't know if you get
love just by deserving it.

- No.

No, I think deserving

is a little bit too close
to destiny for my taste.

I want to tell you what
it is we're fighting for.

But I'm worried that your
friends may not understand.

- Okay.
- Cinderella looks up,

and you see Cinderella
gives you a warm smile

that looks deeply sad,

and looks over at Snow White,

and you sort of get the
sensation that Cinderella knows

what the deal is, and Snow
White is sort of here.

You can give me an insight
check if you want to see

sort of what they are
thinking in this moment.

- 11.
- You see Snow White

looks and says, love would be wonderful.

I wonder in what worlds

I get the kind of love I could believe in,

and I know Cinderella does too.

You see Cinderlla sort of is
lost in thought a little bit,

but nods her head sort of halfheartedly.

This deep sadness fills the room here.

But the truth is, Sleeping Beauty,

I don't think our stories are very good.

- I don't know if it's even the stories.

I think it might even be the
stories within the stories,

because if my parents hadn't told me

that my entire existence

was to find true love,

then maybe I wouldn't
hurt so bad about it.

Then I would've gotten
up out of the thorn bush

and I would've gotten out myself,

and I would've been fine with that,

and I would've met my friends,

and then I would be here.

But it's the stories
within the stories that

have really broken my heart.

- That,

I feel as well.

The stories we tell within
the stories of our lives.

And I think the truth, as I see it,

and I think the truth
as Cinderella sees it,

and we are hoping, the
truth as you see it,

though of course your mind is your own

to make up as you will,

is that

no matter how hard we fight,

the fairies will always have
that castle on their side.

They will always have

the way our stories were,

and even if we try to tell a new story

and we try to fill it
with all of the things

that would make it feel good,

it will still be just a reflection.

It will be a shadow of the old thing,

because you know and I
know and Cinderella knows

that things weren't good
before the times of shadow.

- No.

- So, we are fighting

for an end.

We are fighting for an
end to these stories.

- You mean, an end like...

I point to the queen's head.

Like an end?

- You see Cinderella speaks up and goes,

but without a head or
a crown to worry about,

and a more final end than that.

- That's dark.

- You see Snow White, her
eyes just go to pure shadow

and she says, not everything dark is bad.

- No.

- But the truth is,

I had hope

that my friends would live,

and when they were all k*lled,

I had to find something
different than hope to rely on.

And for me, the only
little hope that's left

is that whatever's out there

might make something more worthwhile

if it didn't have to contend

with all the horrors

of all the versions of
our story told before,

and that if it all just went away

and all the pages drowned in ink

and everything went away

for good,

then maybe something new
and better would come.

That's what we're fighting for.

- But who's to say

if you'd be around for
that something better?

- You see here it gets
icy cold in the room,

and Snow White looks at you.

I think as long as I'm around,

the old stories of me will be around,

and as long as they are
around, nothing can be good.

Mist comes from her mouth.

- I'm so sorry.

I'm sorry.

That's a terrible choice.

- I know that this is a bleak banner

under which we fight.

I know that. Will you
at least think on it?

- I will absolutely think
on it. I give you my word.

- I think this last one is
the one that suits you best.

- Oh my god, the pink?

Why does this woman have a pink fur?

I bet she bought it and she never wore it.

The tags are still here.

- You see Cinderella takes
the sleeve and... (sniffs)

That's stayed in the back
of a closet for a long time.

Yes, absolutely, absolutely. Coward.

- Coward, yes.
- [Brennan] A coward.

This woman was a coward.

- Black, white, black, white,
black, white, pink? No.

- [Brennan] Yes, liven it up!
- I bet every now and again,

she took it out and she
tried it on and went, no.

- Yes, absolutely. And every
time, she died a little.

That's probably where
the cold heart came from.

- Probably.

- Cinderella looks at it too and says,

who wouldn't want to
pop in their own castle?

You don't want to pop in your own castle?

- Right? Pop.
- Pop in your castle.

- Everything is black and white.

You could be pink in here. It's cool.

- Snow White comes up to
you, weeping a little bit,

smiles, and kisses your hand.
- I give her a hug.

- She gives you a hug
as well, freezing cold.

- You're so cold. Even through
the coat, you are freezing.

- You see that Cinderella
takes you both up

and leans her head against
the two of your heads,

and for a moment, these three princesses

are here in this room, embracing.

- I'm going to go rejoin everybody.

- [Brennan] You go and
rejoin your friends.

- Message me.
(Emily and Brennan laughing)

- What's up?

- D f*cking W.

These guys want to f*cking
destroy the world, it's bad!

- And that's all for this
episode of Dimension 20!

- A bunch of hot b*tches with cool powers

squatting in a dead woman's castle?

- Things are complicated.

- Splitting up to go talk to everybody.

- Wolf out. Ride the wolf, be the beast.

- You seem to be very troubled.

- Pivot after pivot.

- I got swallowed by a really
big fish, like, yesterday.

- Okay.
- And I'm fine.

- Pivot after pivot.

- Pib's got some stuff with the giants,

and we're going to go deal with that.

- Pib's got some stuff.

- I'm a good friend now.
- Okay.

- It's an insane social
interaction, because you're trying

to talk to someone who
you're f*cking scared of.

- Cinderella, has anyone ever
called you Cindy or Cinds?

- My dad used to call me Cindy.

- Well, hey, it's his, so.

- Can we rewind and I gave
everyone a half a Xanax?

- We got to get out of here!

- I don't think we can at all.
- This is a ticking clock.

- Just to express a fear that
maybe we were brought here.

- Is there a standing army here?

- And they don't want us to leave.

- If we run away, they
can find us really quick.

- Ah!
- Oh my god.

- They're much more magical than we are.

- You got this.
- You got this.

(Murph groans)
(Siobhan grunts)

(Emily groans)
- I think we don't have time.

- f*ck.
- Run that back for me.

- What is wrong with-
- Are you all right?

- What a question.

- I can't believe that happened.

- Okay.
- Damn.

- That's, like, pretty wild stuff. Wow.

- Scary.

I'm going to choke the life out of you,

you simpering old fool.

- I don't know if I can do this.

- I don't want to destroy my story,

and I don't want my story
to go back to normal.

- With that ink,

you could write anything in
this book, anything at all.

(ominous music)

(ominous music continues)
