I can say with all honesty

that I've never
read a book as good as this one.

-What you doing, Daffy?
-What's it look like I'm doing?

I'm reading this book.

Yes, I can.

Prove it.

Okay. I'll read you this whole book.

Hey, everybody. Come here.

Daffy's going to read to us.

From a real book.

Daffy can read?

This I gotta see.

[gulps]

[clears throat]

Okay, the story begins:

-"Once there was a time--"
-[Tweety] Daffy.

Don't you mean, "Once upon a time"?

Hey, I'm reading this book,

and it says right here,
"Once there was a time."

Now, do you want me to read this or not?

-Sorry.
-Now, where was I? Oh, yeah.

"Once there was a time
when a beautiful princess...

and a real tall prince
lived in a beautiful place

where there were
lots of horses and birds in the sky."

Boring.

[snores]

Horses and birds,
and monsters in the trees.

[all gasp]

Yeah. And monsters in the river.

-[all] Oh.
-No.

And even monsters on the bus.

No! Not on the bus!

-[teeth chattering]
-[grunting]

There were so many monsters in this place

that they would sneak into houses

and hide under beds.

And in closets.

And in diaper pails.

Okay, everyone, time for bed.

[all gasping]

That does it.
No more Sugary Snappies before bedtime.

Eh, Daffy, that was some story.

But Granny's read from that book before,
and I don't remember any monsters in it.

Well, that's because I just made it up.

I knew you couldn't read.

Who needs to read
when you got a great imagination?

Did you see how jumpy I made everybody?

Just be careful that imagination of yours
doesn't make you jumpy.

Don't be silly.

[Granny] What's the matter, Tweety?

-You want me to look in the closet?
-Mm-hm.

You think there's a monster
in here or something? [chuckles]

Well, don't fret.
There are no monsters in here.

-What? You too?
-Mm-hm.

You silly willies.

There's no such thing as monsters.

[teeth chattering]

[grumbles indistinctly]

[Granny humming]

Everyone can rest assured

that there are absolutely
no monsters in this room.

Good night, little ones.

"Good night," she says.
I'll be lucky if I can even close my eyes.

[snoring]

Gee, I hope Granny's right
and there aren't any monsters out there.

[laughs]

[teeth chattering]

[giggles]

[teeth chattering]

I thought I saw a scary wolf.

[both gasp, then shriek]

[Melissa] A bat!

[both screaming]

[gasps, then screams,
then teeth chattering]

[laughs]

[Taz gasps]

Smile face!

[screaming, then teeth chattering]

This is gonna be my best one yet.

Eh, I'm not sure
what that's supposed to be,

but I don't think
it's ever gonna scare me.

[Daffy imitates wolf's howl]

Huh?

-Lola, did you hear that?
-Hear what?

[screams]

[both screaming]

[teeth chattering]

[gasps]

[babbling]

[screams]

[teeth chattering]

[footsteps approaching]

[gasps]

[howling]

[screams]

[teeth chattering]

[SNORING]

[howling]

Booga, booga, booga!

Hmm. Sound sleeper.

[gasps]

[snoring]

[screaming]

[all screaming]

[giggling]

[all] Daffy!

Say, what's the big idea,
scaring everybody?

[laughing] I fooled you.

It was me all along.

What a bunch of fraidy cats.

Huh? What?

Is it time for breakfast?

-That was so not funny.
-Yeah.

We should tell Granny
what you've been doing.

-Yeah.
-It really isn't very nice

to be scaring us, you know.

Yeah. Especially
when we're supposed to be sleeping.

[grumbles indistinctly]

Taz tired.

So why don't you just cut it out, Daffy?

Ah, you guys are no fun.

Well, don't worry.

No more scaring tonight
because I'm pooped.

[chuckles] Can you imagine,
being afraid of monsters?

[sighs]
Everyone knows there's no such thing.

[knocking on glass]

[gasps] What was that? Gah!

[crackling]

[gasps] A space alien!

Yikes! A dragon! Aah!

An octopus!

Who that? A giant!

[screaming, then teeth chattering]

The monsters are gonna get me.
The monsters are gonna get me.

Daffy. Daffy!

Help! The monsters are gonna get me.

Daffy, there are no monsters.

Huh?

No space alien?

No dragon?

No octopus.

[laughs]

And no giant.

[laughing]

Well, what do you know? No monsters.

Yeah, Daffy. No monsters.

Well, in that case, can somebody
please hand me that storybook?

Eh, what do you want this for?

I gotta learn to read, and quick.

Maybe one of these stories
will put me to sleep.
