Welcome to your new home,
little Mr. Tree-Sapling.

Granny,
you've been growing these baby trees

in the house for a long time.

Why are you planting them today?

Today is Arbor Day.

The day we thank the trees
for all the wonderful things they give us.

What things?

Like wood for our homes and furniture.

Comfy shade to nap under.

Fresh new air to breathe.

Leaves that change
pretty colors every autumn.

Arbor Day reminds us that trees...

well, they don't grow on trees.

You mean,
whenever we cut down a tree to use,

we gotta grow a new one
to take its place?

Precisely, Bugs.

Now, I've got some more trees to replace.

[wind rustling]

Oh, my, it's breezy.

Why don't you little ones play inside?

I'll be in soon to make us
all a tasty Arbor Day treat.

If Granny's gonna make us something,
how about we make her something back?

A thank-you gift.

Okay, we need a really special
Arbor Day gift for Granny.

Any ideas?

We could make our own forest.

With our own trees.

All made out of different stuff.

Like blossom trees.

From crepe paper.

Paper-towel tubes.

Taz make palm trees.

than a super-duper box of forest?

Ehh, what do you got in mind, Lola?

Well, I don't know.

I just thought it should be
something extra special.

Granny will really like this forest.

This Granny gift's gonna be big, kiddo.

Well, maybe I'll just make
something by myself.

But maybe we need all this space
to make our present.

my present way better than your present.

is so extra-special-er

that Granny doesn't like ours as much?

and we've got all of us.

Something extra, extra-special for Granny.

Now, what kind of great gift
will make Granny go,

"Gee, Lola,
that's a great Arbor Day gift."

The best way to make blossoms
is one by one.

Really careful and neat,
so each one comes out exactly the same.

Her sneaky plan to take us away
from working on our project.

from everybody I didn't want to help.

Forests gotta have trees.

And leaves.

Lots of crunchy, crunchy leaves.

Hey! Your messy trees are blocking
all my perfect forest pictures.

So, then, I guess you could say,

"You can't see your forest
through your leaves?"

No. And the saying goes,

"You can't see the forest
through the trees."

I don't get it.

I think your present's
turning out really nice.

she's having trouble.

No nasty ol' wind's
gonna blow you over again.

[all] Ooh!

I made pancakes
with fresh maple tree syrup.

And thank you so much
for your lovely present.

I can tell all of you worked
very hard on it.

Well, except Lola--

I don't recall this tree being splinted.

The wind pushed it over, Granny.

It needed our help.

Well, everyone did a wonderful job.

It was all Lola's idea, Granny.

Except I didn't help
with your other present, Granny.

I wanted to make you
something extra-special,

but then I realized
I couldn't do it on my own.

Oh, Lola.

What's extra special
is what you did for this tree.

You saved it.

And saving trees
is the most generous gift you can give.

Not just to me, but to the whole planet.

Which is just what Arbor Day is all about.

The others helped, too, Granny.

It was a team effort.

[Taz] Everybody, see?
