My name is audrey karrasch.

I'm 20 years old.
I'm from reno, nevada.

And i'm here with my mom,
Katherine.

I am so excited.

Audrey: i started singing
When i was really young,

And i became obsessed
With music.

Ever since then,
I haven't been able to stop.

But when i was 17,

I submitted my pictures online,
And ford models found them.

So i decided to go model
In new york.

When i moved there, i was
So exposed to so many things.

Modeling is
A really superficial world.

I became depressed and lost.

You always feel like
You're not good enough

When actually you are.

Really, all i needed
To make me happy was music.

So i decided to move
To charlotte, north carolina.

The music scene
Is very wide and diverse.

So, i'd pretty much take any job
I could get to pay my bills.

I'm a musician, so it's random.
I never know what i'm doing.

What can we do here
At "the voice"?

Why is this
An important opportunity?

Audrey: this is gonna
Be huge for me.

It's finally the first time
In a long time

I'm finally gonna
Be recognized for my voice,

Not what i look like.
Right.

Based on, you know,

And writing my music,

And we've actually been together
For like 6 1/2 years now.

When i'm not playing
With my band,

I work with kids with autism

At a place called
Applied behavioral advancements.

These workshops

Where we like
To teach the kids music.

Everybody do that for a second.

But i was always really shy.

I sang really enthusiastically

But whenever it was time
To get onstage,

I would freeze and, like,

When i was 18.

And i did have a band.
We toured a little bit.

My lifestyle was pretty poor
At that time, you know?

My wife and i have known
Each other since middle school.

We had our kids
At a very young age,

And i had to decide
To go to work.

I actually was a landscaper
For nearly a decade.

Music just wasn't gonna
Pay the bills.

And i got back into music

Because my family
Was really pushing me

To really get out and do it
And give it another shot.

He's worked really hard to
Get here, and he's so talented.

I'm just really proud of him.
And i love him.

I first started on beale street
In late 2008.

Beale street is an amazing spot.

People come from all over
The world to see music.

In 2011, i won the award

For entertainer of the year
For beale street,

Which was a huge honor for me.

Growing up without

My self-confidence
And my self-esteem.

Was when we saw his first
Inclination towards music.

From there, it's just been
Running to auditions,

Running to competitions.

Being one of those avenues

To build a career right now.

As a wedding singer.

But me and my mom,
We make ends meet every month,

I started posting

A year later, they contacted me
About singing a duet

As a promotion for the "academy
Of country music awards."

Singing with sugarland

Was one of the best experiences
I've ever had.

So, after my duet,
I decided to do home school

And really go after
A career in music.
