Ru Goldberg was a guy who designed

inventions that made simple tasks much

more complicated one of his inventions

used dozens of arms Wheels gears handles

cups and rods that were moved by ba*ls

Canary cages pales boots bathtubs

paddles and animals just to squeeze

oranges for orange juice the funny thing

about his inventions is that he never

actually built he only designed them we

thought it would be fun to make our own

R Goldberg invention our challenge is to

make a machine that squeezes toothpaste

onto a toothbrush in at least 20 steps

we got together a whole bunch of things

to do this let's check them out have

robes watching over there

ba*ls pipes oh shoes shoes sand we have

a nle crate an

alarm this stuff is really cool oh

look it's like for ba*ls to travel on oh

yes that's really cool let's get started

I guess okay wait I have an idea about

how we should start it instead of like

thinking of something to do and then

moving on from there if we start at the

toothpaste and then go backwards so then

like we could think oh well this could

power the toothpaste and that could do

that and like to power the toothpaste

and that could do that to do that to

that's a good idea we should do that

okay

so what could we use what about

to squee put it on the end like that but

then held it together somehow yeah how

would you hold it together is there's

something strong

enough no maybe

not well we need to find a way

to that might work how if we can find

something to like yeah to spin that spin

it that would be hard to spin it hey we

could use this to knock something over

to get something to start oh yeah

like knock over something and then it

hit a marble roll down

something maybe if something dropped on

it to squ it look like tie a string yeah

and then the string gets like cut or

something and it go that is such a good

idea so want to use pipe cleaners or

these to make a ball go let's

use here here we go so what are we going

to do going to put them on here yeah

we'll like build them on here and then

they'll and then what will the ball to

come and knock down the thing that's

popping up the hammer oh yeah and then

the hammer will get onto the toothpaste

and that is so

works so then now we have to think of

the way to get the ball to off that

there make something just like tap into

like instead of like yeah something

rolls into it yeah you guys should we

tape these things down so they don't

like bring this over here so it's like

completely out of yeah and then tape it

to the

wow need some more tape then we want to

well there's three parts of the machine

already this ball is going to

something's going to swing it and that's

one step there's going to be a marble

here that rolls down and that's two

steps and then the third step the ball

knocks out these wooden blocks and the

hammer Falls and squeezes out the

toothpaste so K's going to try it oh I'm

so excited I'm scared I want it to work

these yay yeah no toothpaste didn't come

out yeah maybe it to be at the end

couple more hits no okay I think we have

to move this up oh no it has to hit it

right here cuz look if you just touch it

lightly come out slide it back put it

brush try it now put the hammer up put

the hammer up like whoa that was scary

and then Falls in and and it still

doesn't

work it's going to take us a while to

get this to work just right so we'll

come back to it and show you how we're

hi my name is Kristen Deiter and this is

my friend Shani BOS hi we invented a

machine that makes an ice cream sunde

for you the Super Sunday machine starts

off with a simple pull of one lever this

one it's attached to this Rod which is

holding this box once the lever is

pulled this weight will go down pulling

the Box with it the Box will hit the

stick causing the banana to roll off

into the bowl then it will hit this

lever right here which will cause this

weight to lift up and the sprinkles to

pour down into the bowl next the Box

continues on to the whipped cream

station it pushes forward the lever and

squirts out the whipped cream then it

goes on to the Cherry station it hits

the stick and the Cherry rolls into the

bowl are you ready let's try it okay

uh-oh the banana didn't Fallen oh well

chat dear Zoom my name is Tammy and I'm

in a crisis I'm going to move I live in

Newberg and now I'm not going to be

living in Newberg I'm going to be living

in another town I'm not going to be

going to the same school and that is

going to be hard because all my friends

are there I won't be seeing any of my

teachers again I'm really going to miss

everybody at least I can still watch

your show every day your friend Tammy B

at all even from where am I sleeping but

you know I think that people who if

they're going to move they should look

at it with a positive like eye I mean

you can't think of moving than think of

missing everybody you have to move and

then think of all the new people you're

going to meet it's still really hard

because um I moved from a lot of times

and I moved from Las Vegas to here when

I was coming into fifth grade and I had

leave all my friends I knew since

kindergarten to move here and I had to

make all new friends and it was really

hard it was but it worked out really

good because all my friends are really

nice now yeah oh I don't know if you can

call cuz I like lived here and I moved

there I was like around the block yeah I

moved like half a mile away from my old

house but it was still really different

I've lived in every time zone in the

United States who wow so I moved like um

here to here to here to here to here

five or six times wow I moved two times

I moved since I was born in a different

country I moved where were you born

Dominican Republic oh yeah oh cool okay

then um I moved when when I was four to

New York because that's where my mom was

I lived there for like five years and

and then I moved here and I was like and

then all my my history and my friends

were there and I didn't and I didn't

you'll always have memories and stuff

but when I moved I moved I still was in

the same town but my old house I've been

there all my life and my best friend

lived there and so now we don't see each

other as much but we still see each

other a lot but we used to like go over

each other's house every day so if I had

move even if I had to switch rooms

because I've been in the same room since

I was born you know I think it kind of

be hard just to like all the memories of

my room but leaving all the memories of

where I live I mean that would be hard

sometimes you kind of have to like get

out of the place that you've lived in

for so long though you know what I mean

if you lived in a place for half of your

life I would think that you kind of get

tired of it and need to it'd be good to

move once I love where I live now so if

I had to move I'd be really sad because

like if I walk down one street I'm at my

friend's house if I walk up there the

same street I'm at my other friend's

house walk a little further up at my

other friend's house and then I just I

can walk in any direction and somehow or

another I end up at my friend's house so

you know well I guess the basic thing is

like um moving can be good and moving

can be bad I like my new house a lot

better than my old house cuz there's so

much more kids and everything and we all

Bond really well and we're awesome and

it's such a more outdoorsy house and

it's so much better I love it so that's

why moving can be good it can be bad but

you have to look at it in two different

points of view and so it's not really

how you feel about moving it's what how

hello my name is Joy I live in France in

Paris a friend asked me if I was French

or American and I said I'm both because

my mom is French my dad is American and

I was born in the US

I have to speak French because because

friends this is my house it's a bit old

visit going through Paris there's a

river

I like Wednesdays because I go to my

dancing class and I really really love

it it's the best thing of the

week the first time I saw some people

dancing while I wanted to become like

them because it was so pretty and

graceful so I start at 4 classic

Dance One in dancing every part is

important if like your you're doing a

movement and your legs are correct and

not your arms well it's not good you

have to try to make everything correct

so practice with your hands your your

feet your legs and your

head when I didn't dance very well in

dance class I'm not very happy but when

I danced good while I go back

home and I dance on this tree 10 I'm

happy dancing dresses a poem by Allison

checkered mixed colors of bouncing these

things are no lesser than the things in

the dresser and when we are done way

into the night we climb into to the

dresser and close it up

favorite thing to wear my favorite thing

to wear is t-shirts that have running on

them like like like the thing I'm

wearing now my favorite thing to wear is

my Cape Cod sweatshirt because it's big

and fluffy tie-dye shirts and I like

purple pants with them my favorite thing

to wear is shorts because they look

they're real cool and they keep you cool

sweaters in the winter because that

because they keep me warm my favorite

thing to wear is jeans because they make

me comfortable my favorite thing to wear

is this necklace because all my friends

have the same one it's a shirt that's

got red and white stripes I like it

because it got different kind of colors

my favorite thing to wear are my black

ovall cuz they're cool and they're

velvet my favorite thing to wear are

tank tops cuz they make me look very

cute long dresses and long skirts just

because I like them well my favorite

thing to wear is t-shirts and jackets

because they look sporty on me when I

tiger and this is an elephant they're

both really cool this was an idea sent

in from Sarah K of hopeful New Jersey to

make it you'll need a pair of socks yarn

buttons fabric markers and washable

fabric glue both of these you can get at

a craft store first decide what kind of

face you're going to make I'm going to

make a mouse face you can draw the

features on or you can glue them on I'm

going to glue them on I'm going to glue

on some Bel for the

ears I like

M another pink layer for the inside of

the ears

I'm going to glue on some buttons for

the

eyes purple

there and I'm going to glue on a bite

for the nose

I'm going to draw some whiskers on with

some more f for the teeth and the cheese

tail make get a nice long tail

I think that's long enough fold it over

too here's my fun sock

you can make any kind of front sock you

want and you can sew on the features

like the felt and the buttons but be

careful you don't throw the sock yet

then you won't be able to get your foot

in you can wear your fun socks around

the house with slippers and remember

there's no right or wrong way to

decorate a fun sock so try it at home
