I have them one

I just want to show

and really chase their dreams.

I didn't have that.

My dad kind of disappeared
when I was like 8 years old.

And when I found music,
I feel like I found my place.

I've been singing my whole life.

But when I was 14, my buddy
Robert heard me singing a song,

and he was like, "What?!"

He was like, "Dude,
we're starting a band."

I started in a metal
band. I was a screamer.

And then I found
the acoustic guitar,

and that's when I
uprooted to Nashville.

I was 19 years old, not
knowing what I was getting into.

I tried for so long,

but living paycheck to paycheck
just wasn't cutting it for me,

and I went back to Virginia.

I came back feeling defeated,

but I had a daughter, and
it changed my whole life.

[ Laughs ]

As soon as my daughter was born,

providing for my family
was my number-one goal.

I play three to five
shows a week now,

and during the day,
I'm a booking agent.

I have to make calls to
venues. I have to do scheduling.

I have to deal
with cancellations.

I didn't have that.

And that's what kind of
drove me to get in that field.

It does give me a
lot of gratification

that I'm taking
care of the artists.

Whoa! Whoa!

But I'm ready for a opportunity
to show the world my music.

and I'm her biggest fan.

I used to practice

and tell my parents,
and they had no idea why.

When I first listened to you,

I am 28 years old, and I am
from Dallas, Texas, D-Town.

I was a high-stepper
in high school.

It was like the ladies
that dance at the halftime.

I learned ballet, hip-hop, jazz.

I've always loved to perform.

Isaiah: When I first met Azán,

there was a talent show
going on at the high school.

That was my first
time hearing her sing,

and immediately,
as she was done,

I shot up and just,
like, started clapping.

I'm like, "That's crazy.

That's Beyoncé
on stage up there."

My husband is my everything.
He's my high school sweetheart.

We've been
together for 10 years.

He's an artist.

So, he'll perform, and
he'll paint, and I'll sing.

And we do plenty
of gigs like that.

Currently, I'm a
part of two bands.

We do corporate
events, weddings.

Monday through Friday,

I am a quality
control specialist,

so I do a lot of auditing
in the finance world.

It definitely helps pay for
my mics and everything.

boy living in the city ♪

I'm Eli Ward, I'm 21, and
I'm from Waterloo, Illinois.

I'm a Big Ten D1 student
athlete at University of Iowa,

and I run track
and cross country.

You have to be dedicated.
Grueling is an understatement.

So, I was sticking
around 75 miles a week.

I think my fastest
mile time is a 4:12.

It was always a dream
of mine to be a D1 runner,

but it was also a dream to
chase the musician dream.

And going to college,
it wasn't very feasible

for me to try and do both.

So, I actually decided
that I would start

going down the
path of music instead.

That's who won
it last year, isn't it?

I picked up running from my dad,

and then the music

She put me into piano

three singles out,

and when I'm home
for the summers,

every time I'm gigging

I made it. She's here.

I'm Brailey Lenderman.
I'm 33 years old.

I'm from Roswell, Georgia,

but I live in
Nashville, Tennessee.

I've done music my whole
life. I know everybody says that.

I just don't remember a time

where I wasn't playing
piano or singing in church

and writing songs when I was 12.

Were they good songs?

No, but it was the
start of something

that was gonna be bigger.

After college, I
moved to Nashville.

♪♪

I remember rolling
up to Broadway

and being like, "Oh, my gosh.

This is it. This is where
I'm gonna be a star."

I had a little team that
kind of got me started,

like, recording music,

and I was like full country,
boot-scootin' boogie country.

I was getting told, you know,

"You need to lose
at least 25 pounds.

Labels aren't gonna look at you

unless you're
dressing this way."

I also was told I was
too old at the age of 24,

and my confidence just went...

I got really nervous
playing on stage.

I got really
self-conscious in my body.

I didn't feel like me,
and I didn't enjoy music.

Like, I had an identity crisis.

It was really hard.

But the good news is,
I got, like, a new setup.

I was learning how to
make my own demos,

and I started writing
what I wanted to write.

And for the first time, I
was like [exhales deeply]

It was like a weight
lifted off my shoulder.

Since going independent,
I've been able to release music,

regardless of what I feel like

somebody is
gonna think about it.

And "The Voice" is
such a great platform

to be able to put
all of that aside.

I'm feeling like I
have an identity again,

and I feel good.

I feel like I'm like a
singer-songwriter-y...

I want to call it
"coffee shop pop."

That might not be a genre.

She's got such a wide range.

She's got all these
different tones

within each of her songs.

And I think this opportunity
is almost a reward

for all the hard work
that she's put in.

Music is a really

It is a very small town.

So, right now, I'm
just playing and singing

at special events,
birthday parties, weddings.

If Reba McEntire turns,

that would mean the
world to me and my mom.

My mom and I are definitely
the musical ones in my family.

For my blind audition,

I'm singing "I Look to
You" by Whitney Houston.

Every time it came on the
radio, my mom would tell me,

"Dylan, I want you to
sing it at my funeral."

I would just say, "I'll try."

I never in a million years
would have dreamed

that would have happened.

I never thought I
would lose my mom.

I didn't even think about it.

About a year ago, she woke
up, couldn't catch her breath,

and drove herself
to the hospital.

As soon as she walked in,

hospital staff
said she was blue.

She just collapsed.

My mom was 47 years old.

It was a blockage in her heart.

I walked into the room,

was gone at the time.

I thought maybe
she was, um, asleep.

I just wish we could
have said goodbye.

We were shocked.
Our world just stopped.

She did everything
for all of us.

Our world is still stopped.

But this is keeping us going.

She would be jumping up and down

if she knew I was

This was her dream for me.

since my mom's funeral.

Yeah, I've been full-time
for just a year, actually.

I quit my job.

What I did before that
was I actually worked

Alzheimer's and dementia.

and connect with is music.

and just sing to them,

and I quit that job with 50
cents in my bank account.

Not the best move, but,
you know, pretty soon,

you just make the connections

pregnant, which is crazy.

I can't believe I get to be

the first person to do
this on "The Voice."

Can we consider myself a

Music has been the one
thing that's kept me going

through really difficult
moments of my life.

My husband and I got
married in October of 2016,

and we started to try to have
a baby in September of '21.

We journeyed through
a battle with infertility.

Every month when
I'd get a negative test,

it was just a constant
reminder this isn't happening yet.

It felt like the months
just kept dragging on

and kept dragging on.

I would sit at the piano,

just playing, and
I'd write this lyric,

"The valley is not my home."

This obstacle in my life,
I'm passing through this.

One day, this will be over.



We're on our way to
the second appointment.

I actually just started
my second trimester.

Tell me what's better or
cooler than being on "The Voice"

and creating a human,
all at the same time?

[ Laughs ]

Right now, it's
been a little bit slow

just because of the
stage of life that I'm in,

but I typically find myself
doing a lot of my gigs

at festivals in the summer,
gigs at coffee shops,

bands at church.

Just to have this opportunity,

I'm not going to
take it for granted.

This could be the start of
something new in my life,

propelling my
career within music

and also helping
me to tie together

being a mom and a
musician, all at the same time.

I worked at a juice shop.

different than my style,

because I am pop R&B,

but I grew up listening to

I was able to do so many things

and see so many different
avenues of an artist,

so I was able to, like, be
