Street Festival it's this place with all

of these stalls and all of this fabulous

stuff the African Street Festival is

filled with lots of wonderful things to

do you'll find African fabric and all

kinds of clothes and jewelry

isn't it

great just look at those colorful

Fabrics some of them came all the way

from

Africa people come from all over to shop

here everything is so

real gem B it's from West Africa I've

always wanted one and now I have the

best best drum at the puzzle place

the eura tribe from West Africa have

been making this kind of drum for a long

long

time look the jimbe drum starts out as a

log from a

tree the drum maker chisels and carves

the wood until it's the perfect

shape

a few finishing touches and the drum is

ready to

yes it's true West Africans make the

best drums in the

world wow isn't it wonderful Skye well

yeah but uh I have something wonderful

too Julie um wait a

second H Hey where's he going oh he's

picture of me and my swell drum yeah

huh wow Sky check it out you guys it's

my Apache water drums W yeah my

grandfather gave it to me Apaches have

made water drums for a long time too

Leon we use them for healing and for

celebrations with our family and friends

oh okay so uh so maybe I have the best

drum at the puzzle place

Leon oh you wish Sky come on it's

obvious that my drum is so much better

than yours I mean my drum can beat fast

or slow or loud or soft so can mine mine

is nicely polished and shiny yeah well

mine is made out of of a pot and and uh

oh and I have this drumstick with an

eagle feather at the end of it you Julie

please tell sky that this drum reminds

me of my ancestors in Africa going back

hundreds of

years

that my drum reminds me of my Apache

ancestors who lived in this country

the most important things in our lives

to know more about my Apache drum

used our drums for many many years and

Apaches have been making water drums for

a very very long

time

as simple as it is to make the water

drum has a wonderful

sound so you see Leon this drum that my

grand father gave me is every bit as

good as the one that you bought at the

African

Marketplace not necessarily sky as you

see you guys you guys don't start that

again look instead of arguing with each

other how about if you tell me and this

specially selected

jury about your drums huh okay Sky H you

jury as you can see this drum is just

like ones used by West African KS

400 years

ago
