it this is it the acorn stew I was

telling you

about I don't like it I know what I like

and I don't like this Julie and Leon

tried some and they liked it yeah sky

but they are not

me okay let me tell you how it's made

and then you can taste a little taste

and then you'll decide if you like it

Okay Kiki my aunt and she makes the best

Acorn stew

ever she uses a recipe that has been in

our family for a long long

time now she's a grown-up Kiki so she

knows how to be careful with sharp

knives and vanie cuts the meat into

chunks and drops them into a pot of

water

the pot is

heated and stirred

until the water

boils M you can smell the meat cooking

as the water turns into

broth after the meat is cooked Aunt

fangie shreds it into tiny pieces

[Music]

when all of the meat is shredded she

puts the pieces into a bigger stew

pot looks like she made enough for the

whole

family after all the pieces are in the

pot in goes the broth

[Music]

now now Kiki pay attention this is the

important

part Acorn powder it's what gives Acorn

stew its

name once a year we find the acorns

under special oak trees where we live

and we make them into a powder by

grinding them

up Acorn powder tastes m a little nutty

and it helps make the stew really

thick oh boy I can almost smell it from

[Music]

here well looks like it's ready and

vanie has made another delicious batch

of acorn stew

okay Kiki now then just take a tiny

little taste and if you don't like it

going to keep this cat off your back is

by being a dog me a dog yeah so go ahead

scary

wolf it won't work yes it will Sizzle

see cats are afraid of dogs cats

naturally respect and fear dogs she

Sizzle all you have to do is seem like a

dog and the cats Bing now come on Sizzle

I want you to dig down deep and use your

whole throat and give me a big loud

giant dog big bark woofy woof woof

that's it Sizzle you sound like a cat

but I am a cat you can't let that stand

in your way now come on try

again well Jody tell us more about this

mean kid who keeps taking your lunch

well he's a bully he's kind of big and

tough and he bosses kids

around so he's been taking my lunch

every day

today he ate it right in front of me oh

what a mean thing to do hey have you

told the teacher he says if I tell the

teacher I'll be really sorry I can't

believe that just because he's bigger

than you that doesn't mean it's okay for

him to BOS you around right yeah right

he said he's going to eat my lunch again

tomorrow too well maybe he'll forget

got it you could take two lunches to

school one for that bully and then one

for yourself oh he would probably just

take both of them who uh what's going on

guys it's a bully he keeps taking Jody's

lunch and then eating it

you're kidding me no really I've heard

of this happening at my school too yeah

bullies bossing kids around it can be a

real problem why do bullies do

that oh I'll get it I'll tell you one

thing I wouldn't let somebody like that

bother me uhuh I'm not afraid of anybody

very bad thing to be you should be

ashamed of yourself why don't you peek

it you know this is terrible no matter

what we say he just laughs in our face

what are we going to do now wait a

second wait a minute everybody just calm

down what do you think of other kids do

bullies well last year a girl came into

school with a stick and she hit me on

the head with it and I told the teacher

and she doesn't do that to me anymore

you should tell someone that can stop

them from bullying you I solved the

problem by telling my mother and she

went to the principal and the principal

suspended The Boy tell a teacher ignore

them and walk away from them like

they're not even there you you can stop

it by using words instead of your fist I

tell them that I don't really want to

fight I don't really want to hurt him I

just don't want to start anything with

them maybe we could be friends or

something do any of those ideas sound

good to you Jodie well you know Jodie

one of those kids had a great idea yeah

there's something we haven't tried yet

what what's that we should talk to a

grownup yeah and I know just the right

one weas get me

Sinbad hey kids how you doing hi Sinbad

we called you cuz our friend here Jodie

she has a problem oh right Jodie what is

the problem well there's this guy at

school who picks on me all the time he

steals my lunch every day and he scares

me me you know what you do have a

problem there Jodie Sinbad why is he

acting like this I never did anything to

him well Jodie that's because he's a

bully and bullies don't need a reason to

act like this they just like to be big

and bad and boss you around cuz it makes

them feel

important but he's obviously bigger than

jod so why shouldn't make him feel good

to bother her it doesn't prove anything

well check this out Leon bullies usually

don't feel good about the themselves in

the first place that's why they pick on

people smaller than them and try to make

them feel bad it makes them all big and

bad and important oh well but what can

Jody do well Sky I have three ideas I

think you could use the first one is you

can try to talk to this bully you know

have some friends with you and go and

say hey let's try to work this out you

don't have to be mean to me to get me to

share I don't think that'll work he

won't listen to

me well then let me see we'll go to plan

B Plan B is just don't be where the

bully is if you can't see him he can't

see you there can't be any conflict I

can't disappear all the time MH

sometimes I have to be around him that's

true that's right I tell you what plan C

you might just have to tell a grown-up

just just like you're telling me so they

can help you with the situation but

isn't that sort of like being a

tattletail hey Julie the guy is taking

the lunch now if he's taking your lunch

that's not being a tattletail it's

called taking care of yourself

now you might have to tell like a

principal or a teacher or your mother or

your father but somebody let some grown

up help you handle the situation okay

I'll try that tomorrow all right jod you

do that I tell you what and you call me

and let me know what happened because if

that doesn't work plan D is you can call

Sinbad and I'll talk to the bully all

right so call me and I'll see you kids

to listen to me you've been been mean to

me all week well you can't be very tough

if you pick on me I'm much smaller than

giving you my

lunch if you want to be friends I might

share my lunch with you but if you just

try to take it you're not going to get

it

yeah you're going to have to do better

than that Jody cuz when we get out on

the playground it's just you and me

well okay then tomorrow I'll have a

surprise for you it'll be the most

interesting lunchtime you ever had
