people have a ceremony when a boy or

girl is 13 and it sort of turns you into

a grownup really a ceremony that makes

you a grownup yeah what's a ceremony oh

well people get together and they say

certain things and do certain things and

it means something special now the

Jewish ceremony is a bar mitzvah for a

boy and a bot mitzvah for a girl B

Mitzvah and welcome these are home

Hebrew at Adams Bar Mitzvah there's one

more thing that has to

happen the rabbi blesses Adam then the

ceremony is over and Adam is a

grown up

MH wait a minute I have an idea I can

have my own ceremony I mean I'm not

Jewish so I can't have a bar in Mitzvah

but I can make up one of my own will you

help me H wait a minute let me get this

straight okay you make up your own

special ceremony and you want us to help

you and then you're going to be a

grown-up right okay sounds good to me

yeah it'll be fun definitely more than

fun it'll be great to finally be a

grownup when I'm a grown

up I'll ride around in a stretch

limousine I bet you it would have a big

movie

screen with room enough for 18 of my

friends when I'm a

grownup I'll make calls on my cellular

phone to tell my parents when I'm coming

home and of course I'd be

late when I'm grown up

I'll know all the things that grownups

know when I'm grown up when I'm I'll go

to places only grownups can go and when

I finish

growing I'll be so big and

strong I can't wait to be a grown up I

wish it didn't take so

long when I'm a

grownup I'll carry a brief case that's

filled with toys and when I jump around

and make lots of noise no one will tell

me how to beave anymore when I'm a grown

up I'll be important a real big deal

instead of Leon I'll be Mr

mcneel I'm a grownup can't you

see when I'm grown

up I'll know all the things I grown ups

when I'm grown

up I'll go to places only grownups can

go and when I finish

growing I'll be so big and

strong I can't wait to be a

grownup everybody sing

along we can't wait to be a grown

up why does it take so

long

yeah one quick little ceremony and then

I'll be a grownup but now we need some

more ideas about what the ceremony

should

because it's my day it's some a day that

God gave

with the readers and the priests you

own special things your own special ways

of doing it you know it's your mass it's

parents language my first

it's very special to be on the altar

because you're apart from everybody else

it makes you feel beautiful like God has

soul my dress may look like a wedding

dress but it's not it's for a young lady

or someone who's becoming a young

special the way people look at you now

have to act like a young lady I'm in it

so if they can then I can

you're 13 or 15 and then grow

because it would take too long I want to

wanted to be a grown-up so I had this

whole ceremony to make me a man my

friends even helped me and afterwards I

I sort of felt grown up but now I just

feel like a little kid again

mhm you know Leon lots of groups have

these ceremonies to help boys become men

and girls become women I know but the

ceremony alone isn't enough to do the

trick man what a wait wait wait wait

wait wait listen listen listen what if

we were to give you a birthday party

today would that make you a year

older no we'd have to wait for my real

birthday exactly and it's the same thing

with becoming a grownup man you have to

learn more have different experiences uh

mature

m you'll be able to understand more and

do lots of different things and then

then you can have the ceremony when

you're ready for it but but but but but

but grown-ups can do lots of things that

kids can't

do but but but but but but grown-ups

have to do a lot of things that kids

don't have to worry about such as

responsibilities

oo check it out kids can do a lot of fun

things that grown-ups can't right well

um come on come on yeah see hey you're

right so my advice to you little buddy

is to do all the fun kid things you can

while you can because you'll be a

grownup soon enough okay okay deal deal

just pretend that's what you did you you

put on a a doctor costume but do you
