wondered what it'd be like to drive one well strap in and hold on tight because there goes a monster truck

hey monster truck driver day and I'm monster truck driver Becky but we're not real monster truck driver no but the

real monster truck drivers have agreed to let us pretend for the day so we all worry about monster trucks in the how they work oh oh it's a big one too

you're right that's Frank he's one of the most famous monster truck drivers there is big dummy monster truck oh I

don't know close oh okay

oh hi Frank I am monster truck driver Becky and this is my friend come over

here with this monster truck driver Dave how are you great this is a neat truck you guys ready to join my monster truck

racing team joy gonna both learn how to

drive the truck I can't wait to get my

hands on that steering wheel like this you got a lot of work to do before we getting into this truck a lot of small

trucks to learn how to drive first and then you work your way up Oh start small and work our way up to the big guys yeah let's go right

I don't like all this instruction I just want to drive I know

I'll show Frank and Becky what a good monster truck driver I am I'll show them some tricks

I love this stuff I'm ready for the big monster truck now what do you say you gotta listen to instructions you can't

just be ticking off like that you're out of control yeah I'm a good driver and I want to

drive that monster drill up to start with Becky this time now it's time for

Big Dummy

the big monster truck big dummy [Music]

but wait why are these tires so small actually they aren't but the truck is so

big they just seem small [Music]

[Applause] [Music] these are the big times if big dummy had

these tires on it it wouldn't even fit into the trailer so before big dummy can go to work

Frank has to change the tires [Music]

finally big dummy is ready to roll and frag is about to put her through her paces

look at this trick big dummy even goes up and down just like an elevator

a thing that sets monster trucks apart from all the other vehicles is that they

are big they are awesome and huge look at the size of this tire it's almost

bigger than I am I'll bet it's bigger than you are these are firestone monster truck racing tires 66 inches tall

they cost $2,500 apiece and the neat thing about this is that when you steer all four wheels turn so you can make

very tight turns and look at those shock absorbers they're big there's 16 of them

all together on this big monster truck way up in there is the great big engine it comes down here to the transmission

and that turns these two shafts here one to the front one to the back and all four wheels drive that gives you lots of

traction four-wheel drive I know what you're probably wondering how do you get in this truck what's this just push this

button here and the door opens right up

well door may open up easy but getting in this monster truck is easier said

whoa what are you doing Frank I was

getting in the truck and I slipped and I I got hooked on something till me yeah please

let's go oh okay Dave now we finally got

you into the monster truck first thing always lock in your seatbelt mandatory

okay all the instrumentation that you're gonna need to know how to use is basically like a regular truck except

for right here you have the power of rear steering and you're gonna learn that one real well what you have here is

your ignition k*ll system that's where a track promoter to be able to shut down your truck any point in time for a

safety precaution okay Dave put on your helmet because I'm turning it over to

you wait a minute I got a check and make sure sure that we park this in a safe

place yes my dad's car loaned it to me special yeah I know telling my parking away from all the

rest of cars I wouldn't get banged up Wow boy believe we're gonna drive the

big dummy okay

it's ruined it's got a flat tire I should have listened to what he was

telling me when he was telling me how to drive it oh I shouldn't have done this oh oh I've really done it this time

Frank I'm really sorry I did I got put into the wrong gear and I you did a good

job I think you're really ready to go that's some good driving did it better than I could hang on

you're serious excellent haven't done it better yeah yeah well you know when I

put it in reverse and went up over the first hump there's a little concern of what I'm going to hit it quite square but it does look pretty good meant to do

it right I think you ready to go ready for the big race yeah you know I think you're right I know what my dad's gonna

say though it's pretty well smashed

shifted in the wrong gear that's all I won't do it again I have it all memorized now why all those gears I've

up to you guys you have to take the rig out to the show big monster truck race you know drive it right you're yeah it's

up to you guys your helmet there's the key to the monster truck I believe you guys can do it you're

you come back here and plant some food fine except the ones who just stay back here and take a nap alright stay out of

No No what's wrong we're out of gas out of

gas oh yeah you said we had enough until we got to the next gas station oh yeah but this truck middle of nowhere see

where we are oh no we're 30 miles away from the nearest town 30 miles if we follow the

highway but if we were to go over that mountain there we could be there in 20 minutes how are we gonna get there we're

out of gas you forget we got a monster truck in the back we can go anywhere you're right

let's break it out we kind of get to the big show we can't let Frank down okay [Music]

The Hill

uh-oh we're never gonna make it up that hill well Frank could make it up that

hill well Frank's not here and he wouldn't run out of gas either and he

wouldn't run over his father's car he told me I was a good monster truck driver well your father's gonna be mad

yeah well what are we gonna do now we're

gonna have to back out of here well now

what's wrong we must have broke a wire when we ran into the hill we're in the

middle of nowhere well maybe if we follow that pipeline it'll lead to a road or we can get

somebody to give us a ride you're kidding if we hurry we still have time to get to the big show come on let's go Becky all

right we should leave Frank's truck out here see a tow truck Bob it's gonna have

to be an awfully big tow truck you and your big idea take it a shortcut yeah

well I don't know what I wouldn't have got lost if you have been nagging me the whole way

The Monster Truck

it's called Dragon Slayer but I think dragon on the side

Wow look at this one this is Bigfoot

it's a mini monster truck

oh you know what these are horse I do mud trucks I don't miles per

hour in two seconds 1,700 horsepower whoa driver Becky you've been doing your homework you know this is a USA

Motorsports monster truck event they're the biggest and the best and you know their slogan this is a mud truck it's

different than a big monster truck it's a lot smaller but actually the engine is a lot bigger 1,700 horses it runs on

pure alcohol because it keeps it cooler if you'll notice there's no radiator to cool the engine so they can only run the

engine from three to four minutes at the very most no does it go fast from zero to over a

hundred miles an hour in less than two seconds and look at these tires designed for just one thing four-wheel drive to

go as fast as possible over [Music]

Paula Harvick

hi kids my name is Paula Harvick and this is my mud racing monster are you ready to go right

these trucks race in mud in an indoor arena like this mud doesn't just happen it has to be made

[Music] everything on the track has to be built

by bulldozers in our Hills to jump the mud pit is repaired and cars to crush

[Music] Wow look at this place it's big whoa Oh

Dave and Becky where have you guys been we have a little problem

where's the truck we had a big problem actually we left it in the desert it's

not here if you don't have the truck and you want to stay at this show you're gonna work on my mud pit the pit yeah

Motorcycle Racing

finally after all the preparation it's time for the big show to begin [Music]

[Music] first on the program it's time for motorcycle racing

[Applause] [Music] look at this it's a steel cage

motorcycles race inside this steel ball and one false move and it's all over for

these guys oh boy now there's three motorcycles in there

Mud Racing

next on the program its mud racing but watch closely this is one of the shortest races on earth these trucks

can't go very far because they're indoors so they race against the clock first they go as fast as they can

through the mud pit and then they have to stop as fast as they can to

oh this one didn't stop fast enough but the safety equipment is good so nobody got hurt

better call the tow truck [Music]

now it's time for the event we've all been waiting for it's time for the monster trucks

the treiber's take their trucks to the track the competition is going to be tough

everybody wants to win my name's guy would I'd ride the jerky

maker I'm here to challenge all these guys race night they don't have a prayer I'm gonna beat them all

hey this is Bigfoot I want you to let you know that I am here and snakebite

gravedigger you ain't got a chance I'll be in the finals will you I guarantee I'll be there to win Oh Coco

I'm gonna win this race these boys ain't got a chance to just get out of here so

who will win the race well sometimes it's a little hard to tell these trucks are so big and so heavy and so powerful

driving can be very dangerous unless you know exactly what you're doing [Music]

Bigfoot is putting on quite a show

a tire pop as he lands on the other side

they jump cars and race against the clock other times two trucks race side by side
