a big farm takes big farm equipment to

keep it running and big equipment is

what we like to see

have you ever wondered what it would be

like to sit behind the wheel of a big

farm tractor ever imagine yourself

planting acres and acres of seeds of

your favorite vegetables or have you

ever thought about how much fun it would

be running your own dairy farm and

driving your own shiny milk truck and if

you ever dreamed of meeting a talking

scarecrow barney pokes well you're not

actually gonna get a chance to meet a

talking scarecrow but we are gonna get a

chance to see and drive some amazing

equipment that can only be found down

here on the farm now I'm not a real

farmer but I got my straw hat my

overalls what I almost forgot I got one

more important thing that's gonna make

me feel like a real farmer a tractor

almost every farm has one that's because

tractors are one of the most important

pieces of equipment on the farm today

we're gonna get to drive this one along

with some other bigger tractors and see

some really awesome machines so come on

let's hop on let's get some chow and get

this day started

a farmers day begins at sunrise with a

Breakfast

healthy breakfast

everything you see here has been grown

or produced on a farm bacon comes from

pigs eggs come from chickens let's see

the pancakes those are made of grain

milk comes from cows and orange juice

well those come from the orange grove

mmm no everyone these products has one

piece of farm equipment and comment can

you guess what that is oh well you don't

have to cuz here it comes

Introduction

hi farmer brucey Dave actually it's

farmer Dave today yes he I'm pretending

to be a farmer so we can see all this

cool farm equipment look at this tractor

man it's great I can't believe it you

know what I think of tractors like it's

kind of like a train engine you know the

way the train engine pulls all the other

cars and without the engine that train

wouldn't go anywhere right that's true I

never thought of it that way yeah with

all those attachments a tractor can plow

cultivate great plant

fertilize and even mow hey you know we

got some time here today and I'm here to

help is there anything special you need

for us to do as a matter of fact I have

a another farm I get a check on today

and how about list here for you to

follow I need some some fields plowed

you think you can handle that oh you bet

let's go it won't go hmm I can't even

get my tractor to start let me check my

list Oh yikes

number one is maintaining your equipment

well I guess I better get this baby down

to the maintenance yard

Maintenance Yard

all right I'm here the maintenance yard

they're working on tractors everywhere I

know I can get my tractor fixed here Oh

in the meantime though maybe I'll just

not wow I'm in a sea of tractors they're

Big Tractor

everywhere

let's go look at a really big one now

this tractor is big it's so big it

doesn't even use regular tires this

machine uses this it's a rubber track

it's also so enormous you got to climb

this big staircase just to get inside

you think the outside of these tractors

are huge and amazing you gotta check out

the inside where the driver sits first

it's got a comfy seat a computerized

electronic display air conditioning a

stereo with four speakers and even a cup

holder where you can keep a nice cool

drink

now the tractor this big you need a big

engine it's got 8.1 liters of

turbocharged power mmm and up here in

the front it's got this it's called a

ballast it's some weights to hold down

the front of the tractor a big tractor

like this whoa it can do lots of jobs

that's because it's got this every

tractors got a hitch this big tractor

has a really special hitch this special

hitch helps tractors pull all kinds of

implements and one of the most important

Plow

implements a farmer uses is a plow

depending on how big a job you've got

dealers carry plows in a variety of

sizes and shapes look how wide this plow

is and watch how it rips into that field

talk about power after the soil is

turned by disc there may still be some

large chunks of dirt out there

time for another cool attachment this

one's called a power Harrow the power

Harrow takes the earth at the plow or

disc turned over and chops up all the

large clumps of dirt making the soil

ready to plant it all the different

pieces of equipment that you can hitch

to the back of a tractor do amazing

things but I want to go back and drive

that awesome rubber track tractor myself

you wouldn't believe how smooth this

giant drives I feel like I'm sitting on

top of the world but you know tractors

aren't just for work farmers love their

tractors so much they created their own

sport you want to see this is what's

Tractor Hole

known as a tractor hole the sport

attractor Cooling's been around for

almost 70 years farmers used to add up

the poor engines to their tractors but

today by adding bigger turbos different

fuel and oil plugs they're now called

stock tractors and boy can they pull and

what they pull is a mechanical sled that

can weigh up to 65,000 pounds

the object is to see whose stock tractor

can pull the weight the farthest these

guys can take a stock tractor that has a

200 to 300 horsepower engine and make it

anywhere from 1,000 to 3,000 horsepower

that's a lot of horses and it sure looks

like fun farm equipment can have engines

Horsepower

anywhere from 125 to 250 horsepower this

tractor right here it's got a 155

horsepower engine and they call it

horsepower because back before they had

the tractors that's what they used to

use horses back then horses and farmers

pulled the early plows through the field

it was a long slow and tiring process

once they finish plowing they had to

spread the seeds by hand

oh good dirt

all right well now it's time to get to

work farmer Bruce left me this big thing

it's a 16 foot wing full disk that's

because these discs fold up and then

they fold out into the soil that's where

they mix it all up

it's called cultivating farmer Bruce did

that on this side and now I've got to do

it on this side where the ground is

still hard and compact all right let's

go

I forgot

Oh yikes I forgot I need seeds to plant

well

better check my list Oh

well you know I don't really think I

need my list I can remember what to do

hey at least I got my fields prep for

planning I can remember let's see was it

one bag of c-4 100 acres or 100 bag of

seeds for one acre

all right well I told the salesman how

Seed and Fertilizer

many acres I need the plant and he said

he was gonna get seed and fertilizer for

me all right but look there's some seed

right here maybe I'll just get it myself

let's see I've got 100 acres that means

maybe hey ten bags got you beam up Dave

yeah here's your seed oh well they

either bigger than those blue one oh and

here's the first or your fertilizer Oh

okay Dave Dave here's the rest your

order oh man do you guys deliver

Seeding

alright well it's time to plant the

seeds now imagine if I had to plant all

these seeds by hand like these right

here hmm I believe these are wheat seeds

let me give it a try you know like this

that would take a long time that's when

we've got this piece of machinery it's

called a grain drill this piece of

machinery can put hundreds of seeds down

at one time just like the tractor and

Seed Drill

the plow there are lots of different

shapes and sizes of seed drills

different types of soil require

different types of drills the concept is

simple and pretty remarkable first the

seed is loaded into a hopper on top of

the seed drill then as the seed drill is

pulled by the tractor the drills make

furrows in the soil once the seeds are

released containers on the seed drill

deposit fertilizer along with the seed

while another container fills up the

furrow with dirt amazing huh

well now that we know how it's done

let's plant some seeds

but sometimes you need even more

fertilizer and that's where the manure

spreader comes in but newer may not

smell good but boy is it good for

helping things grow inside the manure

spreader change cheering up the manure

and spit it out to blanket the fields

it's plant food for your crops so let

the manure fly sure it's almost lunch

Dairy Trailer

and farmer Bruce's List said I still

need to go by the dairy and check on

some of his equipment there hmm where

can I get a ride to the dairy

wow this is a cool trailer here look at

that it can hold up to six horses

sometimes they use this one for cattle

too that's pretty neat

hey maybe he's going by the dairy maybe

I can get a ride we check

I can't wait to get to the dairy

Milk

hey who wants milk hi Nelly this is the

way my grandpa showed me they used to

milk cows in the old days

pretty good huh come on grandpa only had

four cows imagine if they had to milk

that mini cow cows get milked usually

twice a day well here we come with a

Cows

fresh batch of cows ready to get milked

they bring them in they line them up and

then they attach the machines

look you can see the milk coming from

the cow through the tube and off to the

tank good girl good girl

I can do this over here and it it goes

like this and then it goes okay

whoo Thanks not as easy as it looks here

Milk Tanker

comes an empty milk tanker ready to be

filled up let's give him the royal

treatment howdy sir

fill er up check your oil clean your

windshield all right how about just some

milk all right let's go

just like you fill your car with gas

we're gonna fill this tanker with some

nice cold milk hey I'm getting thirsty

before they start pumping the milk

through the hose from the tank to the

truck they have to open up the top of

the truck to relieve some of the

pressure

this truck is huge it holds six thousand

seven hundred gallons of milk that is a

lot of cartons

Feeding Cows

let's go feed some cows

whoo well this tractors has helped me

feed these cows their favorite green mix

and boy are they happy

Chocolate Milk Cow

this calf was just boys a day it's her

birthday she's not ready to give milk

yet with chickens you're drinking boy I

love milk hey I wonder which cow makes

the chocolate milk is it you are you the

chocolate milk cow what about you ah-hoo

nothing like a cold glass of chocolate

milk boy sure does take a lot of

machines to make one glass of milk hey

you know any other products made from

milk hmm

hey that's right ice cream and cheese

doing my favorite things in the whole

world want to take a quick look how it's

done here we are at the ice cream plant

Ice Cream Plant

you know this is a place that I wouldn't

mind working at whoo here come the milk

tankers first they have to drain all the

milk from the tankers these pipes carry

the milk to the mixing rule then the

milk is mixed with cream eggs powders

and a bunch of other tasty stuff

and of course everything is run by

computers and here's the containers that

you see in your local grocery store

whoa it's like a rollercoaster for

ice-cream cartons

I'm personally picking out the cookies

for the cookies and cream flavor hmm

ice cream cartons fresh off the assembly

line and ready to eat

let's get some spoons thousands of

gallons of ice cream are stored in this

enormous freezer that's enough to last

me for about a week then pallets of ice

cream are loaded onto big trucks and

finally take into a grocery store near

you here's a quick look at how they turn

milk into cheese

that's real pep-pep pepper hey sue

pepper jack cheese they're making

well lunch is over and I've still got a

lot to do today

ah let's see so far I've cultivated my

soil using the disc and I've planted my

seeds using the green and seed drill

I've even got a chance to spread some

manure around Oh yep guff darn these

bugs bugs I almost forgot

I bought some liquid fertilizer to help

our crops grow and a special spray to

keep the bugs off oh and these liquids

can only be put on my crops from the air

so you know what that means

I got to get to the airport fast come on

Helicopter

yeah Roger Tower this is one four Niner

Baker Apple gave he read me how you

doing

flying a helicopter is a great way to

get up in here and look down at the

ground it's also a great way to spray

protection or fertilizer on your crops

and I'm just pretended maybe I can find

somebody to help me spray my crops for

real somebody looking for a helicopter

so this is your as you fly this thing

yes sir I do Wow I love helicopters are

so cool but I didn't know they used them

to spray crops how long they been doing

that well we've been using helicopters

for 30 years now how come why

helicopters well hell comes and go in

real tight fields and they can stop and

turn around real quickly if you need to

so you think maybe Kevin you can help me

out and do a quick flyby and my crops

sure I'd love to Dave Wow can you go

Spraying

farmer Bruce's list specifically asked

that we spray liquid fertilizer and bug

spray on some of his crops that are

already growing Oh Kevin spraying the

right field

well looks like we got the whole feel

well even though I lost my list I think

we got everything done today why don't

we head to the field and check it out

I can't believe my crops grew in one day

boy that must be some powerful

fertilizer wow I did a better job than I

thought Dave you did a great job

knew that soon your fill to look like

oh man I can't wait and when it's time

to harvest a whole new crop of great

machines hit the fields it takes a lot

of hard work and a lot of big equipment

to run a successful farm
