to get ready for Bonkers.

You destroy my office and drag me out here

to show me a drawing of a tree,
a mailbox, and a book?

Wash that mouth out
with soap, you bad-- bad-- bad boy.

All I said, was a tree, a mail--

Filthy, filthy, filthy.

Don't you know
that's toon graffiti Mr. Man?

Toon to toon, I should know.
I've been one most of my life.

-What it really means is you can't...
[whispering]

Whoa, hold the-- It does? It means that?

Oh, sorry, pal. Really, I--

I had no idea,

but, you know, to a human,
like, oh, say me, for example,

it's really not all that bad.

We have to wipe this clean.

Remove every smear, smidgen,
every smudge of a smidgen.

[gasps] I missed a whole half a molecule.
We'll have to, sandblast!

[coughs] Yeah, well fine then.

I'll be in the office if you need me.
Knock yourself out.

[Bonkers screams]

Turn your back, close your eyes,
bury your head.

Whatever you do, don't look!

It's so gratifying to see
the public admiring my creation.

Gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling
down deep where my heart should be.

Hey, Bonkers, careful. No, don't.
That wall's government property.

Leave it... Ouch.

G-a-s-p. Gasp!

Oh, no, no, no, Bonkers, not the car,
anything but the car.

This car has to last me til retirement.

Oh, this is evidently evidence.

We'll save it to show the chief.

[sighs] Look, Bonkers, the graffiti's bad,
but it's not that important, huh?

We will not bother
the chief with-- Bonkers?

-Chief.
-Ooh.

[Chief] Tell me, Bonkers,
was that a hook or a slice?

Need to work on it at any rate.

I'm just practicing
for the division polo tournament.

As you can see, Bonkers,
the chief's busy so we'll--

It's about this
horrendous crime wave, sir.

Can't have a crime wave
in my jurisdiction.

just an isolated case of toon graffiti.

Graffiti?

this case top priority.

I will not have some fiend
wantonly destroying property

and wreaking havoc on this city.

[crashing]

Uh, needless to say,
neither of you saw that.

[Lucky] Couple of lousy pieces
of graffiti causing a crime wave.

Top priority. Criminal mind.

[gasp] Broderick, isn't that
Fall-Apart's address?

That's a big 10-4, 10-4, 10-4.

Okay, so I'm sitting here, okay?

I pour a cup of hot chocolate
like this, okay?

I add sweetener like that, okay?,
I take my first sip like this, okay?

Then it-- then it happens.

-Yeah?
-Okay

I remember.

I don't like hot chocolate.

So, I go to the fridge
for a soda like this, okay? And--

Will you, get on with it
and don't say okay?

So, I hear this noise outside my door,
and I take a look.

All of a sudden, whip, brr, boom.
This guy sees me and makes a run for it.

Can you give a description?

Not legally. I'm not a doctor.

Not prescription, description. D--

What'd he look like?

Well, I only saw him from behind.

The little guy, on the thin side,
red hair, yellow pants, a yellow shirt.

Reminded me of, um, um, um...
what's that word?

Got a pencil?

Yes! A pencil!

You took the word right out of my mouth.

Mm-mm. uh-oh. I took my mouth
right out of my mouth.

Pencil? What pencil?

I don't see a pencil.
Anybody see a pencil? Heh, heh, heh.

Nobody here, but us crayons.

We have to find that pencil, boss.
So get the lead out.

Get the lead out. That's pretty good.

Putting another pencil on my case, huh?

That would make my life difficult.

[squeaks]

Pardonez moi.

I'm looking for a guy
by the name of Scribble.

That's me. And who are you?

Me? I'm you.

[muffled speech]

Marilyn! Marilyn! Marilyn!

Marilyn! Yo, Marilyn! Yoo-hoo!

Scribble, have you seen Marilyn?
We have to ask her where you are.

Hi, daddy. Hi, Bonkers.

Marilyn. Oh, thank goodness.

Hey, you put on some weight, pal.
Chunked out a little.

Wait, how do we know
we can trust this clown?

What if he's as bad as the bad one?

Scribble, happens to be the most
honest, most decent,

most law-abiding as
writing instrument I know,

thank you very much.

And to prove it,

I'll tell you the one surefire way,
to catch a toon pencil.

The only way to catch one,

is to head out
to a grape vineyard at midnight.

Midnight.

-Midnight?
-In scuba gear.

Scuba.

Forget it.

Hey, you want to catch
this guy, don't you?

Remember, you have to lie in cookie dough.

Of course. Why didn't I think of that?

Oh, and don't forget to... whistle.

[whistling]

Lucky, you're not whistling.

[both whistling]

[whistling]

Oh, no, sir. It does not get
any worse than this.

Ooh, get a load of the tough cookies.

Ha-ha! Tough cookies.
That's rich. [laughs]

So are they. They're rolling in dough.

[all laughing]

Dough. You're k*lling me. I love it.

Shh! Hey, guys, get off our case.
We're on a case.

[chuckles] That one has a chip
on his shoulder--

A chocolate chip.

They're both half-baked.

[grape 1] That toon pencil's
just too fast for them.

I hear he's quick on the draw.

Yeah, while they're out here,

[grape 1] he's painting the town.

[grape 2] Painting the town.
I can't stand it.

What? Where'd you hear that?

Oh, uh, through the grapevine.

[all laughing]

There! There! It's him! It's him!

Scribble? It can't be. It's unbelievable,
unthinkable, impossible and stuff.

Adios, amigos

That's Spanish for hasta la bye-bye!

[tires screeching]

[crashing]

[screeching]

I'm going to get him now.

He's gone. He was just here,
and now he's gone.

Where could he have gone?

I'm not sure, boss,

-But I think he may have gone--
-Where?

-Never mind.
-Mind what?

-It's not important.
-What is it?

-I think I rather not discuss.
-Which is?

Don't make me tell you. Don't make
me tell you. Don't, don't, don't.

All right, you win.
I'll tell, but not here.

Somebody might be listening.

[gasps] Okay, I think we're alone now.

There's this place
that only toons can go to,

where all the rough types hang out.

No human has ever, ever, ever been there.

You must never breathe
a word of this, Lucky...

[panting] I am gonna stop that pencil,
and I'm going to do it tonight.

♪ Ooh, big mean cop's gonna get me ♪

My house. He's been here.
He could still be here.

I live for moments like this.

Oh. What's going on out there?

Time to change.

Who are you?

Uh, Scribble. Uh, who else?

Of course you are.

Aren't you, usually in bed by now?

Yeah, right. Good point.
[yawns] Time to hit the hay.

Hold on a second.
What did you do with Scribble?

Marilyn!

Marilyn!

[Marilyn] Hey, whoever you are, come back!

I heard her. She's there, isn't she?
She's in that toon place.

This is all your fault.
You gave her that pencil.

You get her back now.

-I can't.
-Good. So just get in there...

What do you mean you can't?

Lucky, I don't know where it is,
but I know who can help us.

[whistles]

-Toots!
-[Toots beeping]

[Bonkers] Marilyn, boy. Find Marilyn.

[Toots beeping]

[Toots honking]

-Nope, not here.
-[Toots sniffing]

-There?
-[Toots beeping]

-[Bonkers] Not there.
-[Toots sniffing]

[Bonkers]
It has to be around here somewhere.

-[Toots sniffing]

[Toots beeping]

-[siren blaring]
-[Toots sniffing]

[thud]

-Dear--

adding on that sewing room
you always wanted.

-[Toots beeping and sniffing]

I can't find Marilyn anywhere.

[Toots beeping and sniffing]

[siren]

[Scribble] Ah, in here!

[Scribble] Help! I'm in the sock.

Scribble!

Me? Oh, I spent the last
five hours in a sock.

I knew you were innocent.

Well, if she's not with him,

then she's in that toon world
with somebody else.

Marilyn's there?

Come on, Bonkers, let's go get her.

I heard all the commotion and thought--
Oh, doing some remodeling, are you?

[Marilyn] What's wrong with you, Scribble?

What?

You're so different.

Different? [stammering] How?

You're usually so much livelier.

Lively? I'm lively. See? Lively.
You can't get much livelier than me.

That's pretty good for somebody
as old as you.

Old? Yes, I can do old.
Old as the hills, that's me.

I know you're not Scribble.

Now, why don't you
just tell me where he is.

You don't know who you're dealing with.

until you tell me where Scribble is.

Now, if you don't mind,
I have some clean walls to take care of.

Impressive, no?

Before long, I've covered every last
square inch of every last thing.

Filthy, huh?

Downright grotesque, vile, and disgusting,
if I do say so myself.

I think it's pretty.

You know, you really are a good artist.

Me?

Nobody's ever called me an artist before.

Been called a lot of other things,
things I can't repeat,

but never an artist,

because I don't do art. I do graffiti.

I can draw anything, anywhere.

If you put a frame on it,
you could sell it.

instead of all over the outside.

My mom always wanted me

[Pencil] The kids used to laugh
at my drawings.

to beat me up every day after school.

[sobs]

Now, let's find Marilyn,
so we can get out of this place.

[screeches]

You don't want to be here.

This is the intersection of squash
and stretch streets, and--

[yelping]

You forget. I am a human.

That can happen to you,
but it can't happen--

That'll get the kinks out.

Well, I guess you're right.

[panting]

[Lucky screaming]

I think I can honestly say,

I don't like this place!

It's Marilyn.

That Pencil's using my daughter,
in his lousy graffiti.

Oh, that's awful... isn't it?

It's vile... right?
It's vulgar... pretty sure.

It's... don't look at this, Bonkers.

Do you know what that says, boss?

It says, "Thank you, Marilyn."

When I get that pencil,
I'm gonna grind him into toothpicks.

I'm gonna... it says what?

[Pencil sobbing]

Where's my daughter?
What've you done with my precious little--

[Marilyn] I'm right here, daddy.

Marilyn.

I'm fine.

Then what's wrong with him?

Not a thing.

I don't know what's going on here,
but I know we're getting out before--

[screams]

Wonderful job, Pickle!
The way you reformed that toon,

made him a productive member of society.

Ah, it's Piquel, and uh... Thanks, sir.

Brilliant idea,
turning a graffiti artist into a muralist.

You're a genius, boss.

Yeah, heh, heh. When did I do that?

Mommy knew, you wouldn't mind
if we helped him get started.

So, I hired him to do work around here.

I see a pastoral scene
in the impressionist style.

Bright happy, happy colors.

Yes, oranges and greens
and blues and yellows,

and, ooh, I'm excited.
