What do you think, Dinah, do I look like
I could be a famous scientist?

At least you believe in me.

Unlike certain little brothers
I could mention.

Brian makes me so mad sometimes.

We were talking about what we want to do
when we grow up

and when I said I wanted to be a scientist
who studies outer space,

he said I'm not smart enough

I told him

but he wouldn't listen.

Attention!

This meeting of the Oddballs Club

Next the Oddball handshake.

Save it.

Now the Oddball motto.

Manly men one and all
We never let a fellow fall

Thin or fat, short or tall
Each of us are true Oddballs.

Now, Mr. Secretary, please read
the minutes from our last meeting.

Uh-huh. Let's see, uh, 233, 234, 235.

That's concludes the reading

Any new business?

Any new funny business?

-Yes.

Anyway, up to now, you see,
our club has been a guys-only group,

but lately we have been getting
hassled by, uh, well, you know...

not guys.

Our question is, is it really so bad
that our club prohibits them from joining?

That depends.

Sometimes when you prohibit someone
from doing something,

you're also discriminating,
prohibiting them for a bad reason.

Oh, come on, we know it's wrong
to discriminate against someone

but, uh, we're just talking about
a nice little guys-only club.

Is that so terrible?

I think you should listen to this story.

Once there was a pack of sled dogs
who lived in the far, far north.

Every year they entered
the big sled dog race.

And every year they lost.

One year, after losing as usual,

the dogs heard a husky laugh.

Her name was Diane.

"What's so funny?" The dogs growled.

"We'd like to see you do better."

"No problem."

Diane barked in reply.

"In fact if you let me join your team,
I'll show you how to win."

The other dogs howled with laughter.

"A girl in our pack? No way."

"Fine." Diane sniffed.

"Then I won't help you."

The pack wanted to win.

So they decided to give Diane chance.

"You're losing because you're all pulling
in different directions," Diane said.

The pack saw that Diane
wasn't barking up the wrong tree.

Her advice made sense.

So when it was time for the next race,

the pack all pulled together,

and for the first time ever...

they won.

The team turned to Diane
and wagged their tails in thanks.

You see, not only had they all learned
to pull in the same direction,

but they also had learned
that a girl could be top dog.

So do you see my point?

Huh. Maybe we have been discriminating
against women, gals and girls.

You're right. In fact, I think it's
about time we had a gal in our group.

[laughing]

You, mean it? You're really going
to let me join the Oddballs?

That's right.

We decided we were wrong
to discriminate against you.
