Huh? [whimpers]

[Cleo] No! How many times

do I have to tell you?

I promise,

I'll be careful with it.

No way.

Every time I lend you something

you either lose it

or wreck it. No more.

Get out of the way.

I can't see.

This season,

the most popular motif

is animals.

Last season's trendy stripes

Yeah!

Ooh, I wonder what this is.

"Dear diary." Well, well.

Kim, you've got

to clean your room!

I mean drying off my clothes.

what's going on?

Cleo is a mermaid.

She turns into a mermaid

whenever she gets wet.

you watch too much TV.

- Hey! Hey, girls!

It's Bernie.

What's he trying to tell us?

Glasses? What?

Diver? Sinking?

You found glasses

on the sea-bed?

Bernie's found the diver's

trail. Let's go! Later, Lewis!

But wait, where are you going?

[sighs] What the heck?

Cleo, please tell me your sister

doesn't know about us.

Well, she accidentally

We're talking about Kim.

You should have known better.

to find that diver!

What are we waiting for?

Are we gonna watch him

No, but if we step in now,

we'll never find Ziggy.

Our only chance

is to follow him.

Alright then, let's follow.

- It's Zane!

- It doesn't make sense.

- Why would he do that?

- We've got to dry off!

Hmm?

Careful, you'll give us away.

Look! He's sold

all the clownfish.

- What do we do?

- We've got to rescue Ziggy.

- Excuse me, sir.

- He's over there!

[Rikki] In the second aquarium

on the left.

And there's

his little buddy Gus.

- This is the one I want.

- [man] That one? No problem.

He's gonna sell Ziggy!

We've got to do something.

Cleo, create a diversion!

Oh, no, one of the aquariums

is leaking.

Quick, he's almost done.

- What about Gus?

- There's no time.

We'll come back later.

We've got to go.

Hang on, we need a bag.

Hang in there, Ziggy.

We're taking you home.

- Oh, Ziggy!

- Oh, Mommy!

[both laugh]

Oh, thank you so much, friends.

You're just amazing.

This'll prove

she's a mermaid.

How are we gonna free

Gus and the others?

We can't leave them

in that pet shop.

We've got to go back

and free the rest of them.

It's a start,

but Zane will keep catching

clownfish and selling them.

If we want to stop this for

good, we've got to stop Zane.

Lewis is right. As long as

it's making him money,

Zane isn't about

to stop doing it.

If we want him to stop,

we've got to convince the buyer

to stop buying his fish.

Sure, agreed. But how?

Hmm... We just need

to convince the buyer

that Zane isn't

a reliable supplier.

Isn't that a little risky?

All you need to do

is stay in the aquarium

for a few minutes,

so will you help us out?

Yes, sure, why not?

[man] Sure.

Let me just check on that.

All clear, let's go.

[man] I stock

everything you need

to maintain water pH levels.

It's very important for the

health of your fish, you know.

[Lewis]

And what about a clownfish?

[man] A clownfish?

An excellent choice.

You won't be disappointed.

Mine are superb.

Take your pick.

Hang on. Aren't they

supposed to be orange?

Look at that one.

It looks weird.

- It's almost all black.

- I don't understand.

They looked fine

when I bought them.

Please don't take this wrong,

but I think somebody

might have cheated you.

I breed them myself usually,

but the young man who came in

had such fine specimens,

and clownfish are among

the hardest to breed.

I don't want to stick my nose

in where it doesn't belong,

but I think your fish

might have a skin disease.

She works at

the Oceanic Center.

Fish are no mystery to her.

I believe it's crow-fish-itis.

Are you sure?

That's a strange name.

That's true. It should have been

called something less strange.

Yes. Naturally that isn't

its scientific name.

Either way,

it's extremely contagious.

The other clownfish

must have already caught it.

What is taking them so long?

[Rikki] If I were you,

I wouldn't want my clients

to see it.

Fish turning all black. Not

ideal for your store's image.

But what can I do about it?

If you want, I can bring them

over to the Oceanic Center.

Maybe they'll be able

to treat them there.

Alright, wait here. I'll go get

a container from the back.

[girls] Yes! We did it!

A job well done!

How are you doing, mermaids?

- Hmm?

- Oh!

Kim, I can't believe this.

I've absolutely had it.

What's the matter with you?

Don't you have

anything better to do?

- [Emma] Oh, no.

- Look at me when I'm talking.

This is really bad.

I don't know

what you're playing at,

but this mermaid stuff

has got to stop.

[Lewis]

Behind the counter, quick!

Rikki, you're up.

OK, I'm on it.

Hey! What's going on?

- Why did you shut the door?

- Must have been the wind.

Hold tight. I'll dry her.

It won't be much longer.

I've had it with

all your nonsense.

I just told you to look at me

when I talk to you.

What's the matter

with this darn door?

- Keep trying!

- [Rikki] Done.

OK, Lewis.

[crashing]

If I was you, I'd have

that lock checked out.

It seems a little sticky.

If you're not a mermaid,

then prove it.

Alright, you want proof?

I'll give you proof.

A glass of water, please.

So if I touch water, I turn

into a mermaid, is that it?

- Mm-hmm.

- Thank you.

OK, let's test it out

right now.

Oh, no, look.

So, do you believe me now?

Then what was all that stuff

about mermaids in your diary?

Uh... It wasn't my diary.

It was... something

I was writing. A story.

Yeah, a story for

our literature class.

We had to write

a fantasy story

using ourselves and

our friends as characters.

Come on, did you really believe

that Cleo was a mermaid?

You've got even more

imagination than your sister.

[Kim whines]

- [all sigh]

- [Zane] What do you mean

you don't want to do business

anymore?

You were perfectly satisfied

with my fish yesterday.

I don't understand.

A disease? What kind of disease?

My fish were in perfect health.

Looks like Zane

is going to have to

earn his pocket money

some other way.

- Problems?

- No, nothing.

A plan that didn't work out.

A part-time job I'd found

- to put aside some extra money.

- A job?

I thought your dad

could buy you anything you want.

Actually,

it was for his birthday.

I wanted to give him something

special, jewelry or a watch.

I wanted to prove

that I can make it on my own,

without his money,

but I can't do anything.

Don't say that.

My only other option

is to check over the beach

with a metal detector

and hope to find some jewelry.

Hmm...

[all cheer]

[Emma] Go on, you're free.

You're back home.

It's so nice

to see them all together.

OK, I'm off. I've got something

I've got to do.

Oh! Oh-oh! This looks promising.

- So, have you found anything?

- Yes, hang on a minute.

Here. Do you think

this will do the trick?

Yes, it's perfect.

You're sure I can have it?

You know I can't refuse you

anything.

You're the best! I owe you one!

OK, and now who's left

to put everything away?

Yours truly.

Wow, it's incredible!

- But I can't accept this.

- What? Why not?

- Take it, come on.

- Why would you do that for me?

You want something in exchange?

No way. A gift is a gift.

If I give it, well, it's...

For once you wanted to do

something nice,

so I thought I'd help you out.

You drive me nuts!

Take it, end of story!

Thanks, Rikki. I've got to admit

that without you

I don't know

what I would have done.

You really are amazing.

Where did you find

such a beautiful ring?

It comes from

an old fisherman friend

who collects things

he finds on the seabed.

And he just let you have it?

Yep. He's a bit of

a crab at first,

but when his friends need help

he's always there for them.

[both laugh]

[Bernie laughs]
