Cleo, good timing!

- Can you help me out?

- Sure, Mr. Lambert.

That's what I'm here for.

What can I do?

I need to get rid of

all this seaweed.

It's clogging up the drains.

I could do with

an extra pair of hands.

Maybe I could stay

at the edge of the pool

- and help empty the bins.

- Well, it'd be better for me

if you'd join me in the water.

That way I can untangle

the seaweed in the drain

- while you pull them free.

- Well, actually, I just can't.

Oh, no? Why not?

Because...

I'm allergic to seawater.

What? You're joking? Since when?

Since always. It's very serious.

Then we've got a problem.

You're working at

an Oceanic Center.

How did you think

you could have a career here?

Actually,

what I meant to say was...

I'm sorry, Cleo, I'm afraid

I'm gonna have to let you go.

Great. Where the heck

did I put my cellphone?

I can't even call my friends.

[Miriam] I'm telling you,

there are heaps around here.

Oh, no, not Miriam.

I'm not in the mood

for her right now.

We have to find one.

Hermit crabs are

the absolute latest pet.

It would be super cool

if I had one.

I remember seeing some

over there.

Oh, no, I better warn Bernie

that he should stay away

from them.

[gasps] Hey, you scared me.

Did you forget we were supposed

to be studying math today?

I called you a dozen times

but you never picked up.

So I headed to the center and

saw you running off. What's up?

Everything.

I've always dreamed

of helping sea animals.

This mermaid thing

is turning into a real curse.

Listen, if there's one thing

I've learned from science

it's that every problem

has a solution.

Come on.

The tiniest splash of water

and I turn into a sea monster.

What is science

going to do about that?

[laughter]

You see what I mean?

Science can't help me.

Cleo!

That's it.

I think I've got an idea.

Hi, Cleo.

Zita!

What's she up to?

We've got to stop her

from going in there.

[Bernie] Cleo, no!

[Bernie] Cleo!

Oh, no, Cleo.

Cleo, no, don't go there.

It's dangerous!

What a strange place. How come

we've never been here before?

Looks like some

rare archaeological site.

I could take some photos

and share them

with the whole world.

Yeah, right, Cleo.

You're a mermaid, remember?

You can't tell anyone. [sighs]

If only I could forget

this whole mermaid thing

and just be like before.

[screams]

Whoa! What's she done?

Cleo, phew, at last. Why

the heck did you go in there?

It could have cost you

your life.

Quick, we've got to catch her.

[Bernie struggles]

Oh, boy. Oh, boy.

Oh, darn and double darn.

I lost her.

I've got to go warn

Emma and Rikki.

[screams] Oh, no, let go of me!

Help! Let go of me!

- Oh, no!

- [Bernie sobs]

[alarm clock beeps]

What's up, sis?

What's that face for?

Aren't you gonna kick me out?

Or lock the door?

Why would I do that? We can

share the bathroom, can't we?

It's certainly big enough.

[mother] Cleo, it's for you!

Your friends are here!

Hi, girls.

What are you doing here?

We called you a million times.

Why didn't you answer?

I totally forgot

what I did with it.

Cleo, we've got an emergency.

Bernie has disappeared.

Bernie? Who's Bernie?

Drop it, Cleo. You're not funny.

You've got to hurry up.

In kidnapping cases

the first few hours

are the most important ones.

But I just got up.

I haven't even taken a shower.

You can rinse off

in the ocean.

You don't really think

I'm gonna pollute the ocean

with shampoo and shower gel?

Ah, well, alright.

At least let me get dressed.

Zita is really rattled.

She didn't see who did it,

but Bernie

was kidnapped for sure.

Kidnapped?

But that's really serious.

Ah. Good to know

you've finally woken up.

We've absolutely

got to call the police.

Surely this Zita will be able

to identify the kidnappers.

Cleo, did you bang your head

or something yesterday?

It wasn't the full moon.

Ah-ha! I get it.

This whole thing is a joke?

OK, I had a laugh,

but I've really got to go.

- Cleo, where are you going?

- Since I didn't take a shower,

I'm gonna splash

a little water on my face

before seeing Mr. Lambert.

Did she say

what I think she said?

- Cleo!

- [Emma] Stop!

Are you crazy? What do

you think you're doing?

[Cleo] I'm just trying

to wash my face!

Are you out of your mind?

You must be running a fever.

With everybody around?

Get real, Cleo.

But it's only water.

[gasps] I'm going to be late!

This is weird. I mean,

it's like she's got amnesia.

Maybe she did get

knocked on the head.

The Oceanic Center.

If she's having a memory lapse,

she might wind up transforming

right in front of Mr. Lambert.

Emma, what about Bernie?

If we wait too long,

he might wind up in a salad

at some snack bar.

You're right. I'll take care of

Cleo and you go look for Bernie.

Alright.

[whimpers]

Huh? What... How did I...

Oh, dear.

[whimpers]

I have no idea where...

[Miriam] Hello there,

my little Hermitoo.

Where do you think you're going?

This is your home now.

Oh, no! Oh, my gosh.

Well, I'll be.

Whoa...

[gasps]

Ah!

- [phone rings]

- Huh?

Hey, Emma? What's up?

Sorry, no time to explain.

You've absolutely got to come

to the Oceanic Center.

Cleo needs us.

Oh, no!

He better not be on the menu.

Can I help you, Miss?

Excuse me, do you...

Do you serve hermit crab?

[laughs] Hermit crab?

And why not sand fleas

while you're at it?

Never heard that one before.

[laughs]

I'm surprised to see you here,

Cleo.

I'm sorry about

what happened yesterday.

I can't put you in danger,

you understand?

Sorry, Mr. Lambert, but no.

Your allergy to seawater.

I'm afraid this isn't

the right place for you.

Me allergic to seawater?

Did Emma and Rikki

tell you that?

Because I don't know

what's gotten into them today.

- No, Cleo, you did.

- I told you? Are you sure?

I'm only allergic to

one thing, goats' milk.

You can call my parents,

they'll tell you.

In that case...

That's great news.

So can you help me out

with pool number five?

I haven't finished

cleaning it yet.

There's still some seaweed

in the drain.

You bet. I'll do it right away!

[PA annoucement] Mr. Lambert,

please come to the south gate.

Come on, leave.

What's he waiting for?

Mr. Lambert, to the south gate.

Strange.

I'm not expecting anyone.

- Oh!

- What the heck is she doing?

I don't believe it. Why does she

have to be so stubborn?

It's time for a wake-up call.

- [Emma] Cleo! Cleo!

- Emma!

What are you doing here?

- Careful!

- [both yell]

Happy now? We're in the water.

Why have you been making

such a big deal of it?

Cleo, promise me

you won't scream.

It's very nice.

But why would I want to buy

a calendar in the middle

of the year?

And it's a calendar

from last year.

Well, because it's for school.

Look, Lewis, sorry,

but I've got work to do.

Uh, Mr. Lambert, please.

Could I have an autograph

of the famous Dr. Lambert?

- It's for my collection.

- Listen, you work too hard.

Go and get some rest.

Rikki, where are you?

You mind telling me

what all this is about?

Emma, it's horrible. Look!

- Look at what?

- You've got a fishtail.

So what? You've got one, too.

- [screams]

- Shh! Come on.

Cleo? Where did she go?

Let go of me, Emma.

We've got to head to

the surface before we drown.

If you haven't noticed,

you're talking underwater.

And to talk, you need

to breathe. Come on.

Emma, don't let me go!

Everything is alright, Cleo.

Yeah, it's true.

They're the latest thing.

Everybody wants

a pet hermit crab.

But I don't sell them yet.

You want to tell me

what's going on?

Bernie's been kidnapped

and Cleo has lost her memory?

This is just crazy.

So that's why Emma asked me

to create a diversion.

Obviously. To make sure Cleo

didn't transform

in front of Mr. Lambert.

I wonder if this

has anything to do with

- what happened yesterday.

- What happened?

Cleo had to tell Mr. Lambert

that she was allergic

to seawater.

He told her she couldn't

work there anymore.

Later, Miriam splashed her

and she swam off out to sea.

Something must have happened

to her out there,

something that erased

her memory.

Zita! Hey, Zita!

Oh, Rikki.

Have you found Bernie?

No, but now we have

another problem.

Cleo's lost her memory.

She's forgotten she's a mermaid.

- Do you know...

- Oh, my gosh,

I've been so worried about

Bernie

that I completely forgot

to tell you something.

What is it?

- She went down in there?

- Yes.

And we couldn't stop her.

When she came back out,

she looked strange.

That's why Bernie

wanted to warn you.

Oh.

Then that must...

Huh?

[sighs]

[chuckles]

Help! Get me out of here!

You mean every time

we touch water?

We transform. End of story.

Wow. What a mega pain.

Yeah, but there are

lots of good sides, too.

Look.

[gasps]

Wow.

How cool. Magical powers!

- And do I...?

- Go ahead, try.

[gasps]

[chuckles] Yeah!

Wow, this is so great. [yelps]

Oh, my gosh, quick, Cleo.

Run to the bathroom.

So, Emma, is the

training session done?

Yeah, I guess.

And what about Bernie?

- Did you find him?

- Unfortunately, no.

But I think I know

what happened to Cleo.

[Cleo] This tail is a lot more

practical in the water.

See you later, Cleo.

If you have any problems,

just call us.

- And remember.

- I know, stay away from water.

[TV] It's the very latest thing

in house pets.

The hermit crab.

This delicate little creature

that lives in a colorful shell

is a big hit with kids

right now.

Check this out, Cleo. It's

the latest and greatest thing.

It would be so cool

if I could have one.

Would you help me

water the plants, Cleo?

I can't right now!

- Cleo?

- Sorry!

Emma, I think I know

who kidnapped Bernie.

The only problem is

that memory was erased, too.

You've got to help me, girls.

It's time you show me

what happened to Cleo,

because if she doesn't

get her memory back

we're never gonna find Bernie.

[Bernie struggles]

[yells] Oh, gosh.

[screams / car beeps]

- [Miriam] What's going on?

- Oh, no.

Oh, my poor Hermitoo.

How did you wind up

falling out of your house?

There you go. Safe and sound.

Oh, no!

That place holds the key

to the mystery.

But if nobody knows about it,

or won't talk about it,

- how are we gonna cure Cleo?

- I know. We should ask Sue.

She knows everything.

[mysterious sounds]

[Emma] Sue is, like,

She must know the secrets

of this place.

Oh, darn, looks like

she's meditating.

Too bad. This is an emergency.

Uh, excuse me, Madam Sue?

[Sue hums]

Girls, I've been

waiting for you.

I know exactly

what you want to ask.

The stone circle

is an ancient site.

It was built by humans

before the sea covered

the whole region.

It's an accursed place,

full of negative thoughts.

This started because Cleo

had trouble at work.

The day she went into

the circle,

I think she'd had enough

of being a mermaid.

The stone circle

surely heard her wish

and hid from her the knowledge

of her true self.

So that's how she forgot she was

a mermaid. Makes total sense.

What can we do to cure her?

Cleo must return there,

but only on the full moon.

Then I guess we're in luck.

There's one tonight.

So all we've got to do

is convince Cleo

to return to the stone circle.

Thanks, Sue!

- Tell me, Sue.

- Mm?

When you said

you were expecting us,

was that because of

your sixth sense?

My sixth sense? [laughs]

It's called Zita. She told me

you were looking for me.

[knocking]

What are they doing here?

OK, I'm coming.

What are you girls doing here?

We came to save you.

You've got to come out

to sea with us.

Out to sea? But how?

We don't have a boat.

Oh, yeah, I forgot.

We don't need a boat

because we're mermaids.

Come on, Cleo. You've got to go.

Are you sure I'll get

my memory back?

Of course. Sue told us you will.

[Cleo] OK.

The truth is,

if I made that wish,

maybe it was because I was

fed up with being a mermaid.

It makes working at the center

impossible.

Maybe I could wish

to stop being a mermaid.

And the stone circle

might make me human again.

No, Cleo, don't!

- Where's Cleo? I can't see her.

- What did she choose?

Emma! Rikki!

I remember everything.

My cellphone,

it's under my bed.

I'm in big trouble with

Mr. Lambert at the center.

My dream's never gonna

come true.

Everything will work out, Cleo.

Come on, it's time

to head back to dry land.

Huh! Cleo, Emma, Rikki.

You guys OK?

Yeah, we're OK.

It's a long story.

But I've got my memory back.

Emma and Rikki told me.

I've been working on something.

- What is it?

- It's for you.

It's a super thin and

completely transparent suit.

It'll cover you

from the top of your head

to the tips of your toes like

a second skin. Which means...

That you'll make one for

each of us to wear all the time?

Sorry, Emma, but I discovered

this material by accident.

I wouldn't know

how to do it again.

Not to mention you can't

wear this all day long.

You could have

an allergic reaction.

But I could still wear it at

the center, just not all day?

I told you there's a solution

to every problem.

- Thank you!

- What about Bernie?

Have you guys found him?

Bernie, I'd forgotten

all about him.

But I know where he is.

Follow me.

[Miriam shrieks] And look!

He looks so cute in it.

[girl] I knew my old doll

clothes would come in handy.

[both laugh]

You're right,

he's even cuter like that.

Hi there, Hermitoo.

[woman] Miriam,

someone at the door for you!

There. Be a good crab

and wait for me here. OK?

- [Cleo] Bernie.

- Huh?

Bernie! Over here!

Yay, you found me!

What the heck's this?

A calendar?

It isn't even the right year.

You must be joking.

[chuckles]

[gasps] My Hermitoo!

He's escaped again.

[Miriam]

Must have gone that way.

[Bernie] Ah! Freedom!

You can't imagine

what I've been through.

But thanks to you,

I'm finally...

- [all laugh]

- What's so funny?

No, Hermitoo, we're just

so happy to see you again.

[Zita] Oh, poor Bernie,

she really did a number on you.

- Huh?

- [all laugh]

I don't think it's funny!

Everything OK, Cleo?

- You bet, Mr. Lambert.

- Great!
