I've been reenacting
the latest Romancimorphs novel

I'm trying to figure out
what to teach my summer art students.

Maybe watercolors
or sequential art?

I've been developing a truly great hero

-to illustrate my point.

Her name is Tater Luna.

With her mighty pen sword,

she fights to protect
everyone's dreams!

-Tater. that's such--
-Hold your praises, Mother.

I've barely
scratched the surface.

And there are so many things
to figure out.

We haven't even started
considering color options!

Maybe she would look
great with a shield.

[chuckles] Yeah!

Though it's not like
she needs one.

[laughs]

[gasps] Mother!
Your fancy paper?

[stammering] For me?

Tater, will you draw
your mango masterpiece for me?

My art class could sure use
some inspiration.

One mango coming up!

I mean, manga.
Mom, it's manga.

All right. Let's get arting!

[♪ peaceful music playing]

Hi, Tater!
What you doodling?

Hey, Nach bros. Mom needs
to inspire her students,

so of course, she asked me
to help by drawing some inspiring manga,

because I'm so inspiring.

-Did I mention that?
-You really are. And you did.

Behold, Tater Luna!

She fights for our dreams,
a hero to us all!

Aren't you amazed? Hmm?

[both] Hmm.

I know, I know.

I think the word you're
looking for is "incredible!"

There's no way those noodle arms
can throw that hemorrhoid.

First,
that's not a hemorrhoid.

Second, you don't need
huge muscles in zero gravity.

She's perfect
just the way she is.

Well, if she's a hero
for us all,

how is she gonna save me
from a burning building?

I'm a beefy boy.

Uh, I guess you're right.

-Her sword is weird.

this could be Tater Luna.

Well, she seems to have pleased
the Nach bros, anyway.

Maybe we do need
a few more opinions.

I want everyone
to love you like I do.

What in the
Ziggy Stardust is this?

Uh, we're throwing
a fashion show.

I'm calling this collection
Disco Space Daydream.

with this character.

opinion of the costume?

Though I certainly

Tater Luna's appeal
is universal.

this isn't mass appeal at all.

What do you know about it?

-[exclaims]

Mira y aprende, Tater.

Uh, does Dad know
you messed with the lights?

-Because he--
-Tater Luna, huh?

If she's a hero for all seasons,
then pleats aren't it.

I say "yes, capes."

How can you make a dramatic
entrance without one?

I say it's a total do-over.

Mass appeal?
More like no mas appeal.

-What? Really?
-Actually, I think she's fine.

[all gasp]

Thank you, Scooter.

-Finally, someone with taste--
-But what about giving her skates?

Ugh, no.
Are you kidding me?

Skates would ruin
the line of her pants.

-What are you talking about?
-[indistinct shouting]

[sighs]

Thank you for your notes.

[sighs] That was brutal.

[exclaims]

We hear you're having
a manga emergency.

We'd like to offer
our own informed opinions

as seasoned manga
aficionados ourselves.

[gasps] You read manga too?

[Lotlot] It silences
the screaming in my soul.

[Gordita]
I consider it research.

[Tater] Well,
what about that one?

I said "research."

Okey dokey.

Well, I'm happy to have fellow
manga experts admire my Tater Luna.

Isn't she perfect?

-Hmm. Perfect scrap material.
-Wha...

That ensemble hardly provides
any defense in serious battle.

Have you considered
a mecha-suit?

Hmm. I do like robot arms.

Uh, it needs more
existential horror.

I don't know
how to draw that.

Few can.
Just color it all black.

And add spooky spirals.

-[Tabi] Primos!

Are we still helping
Tater with her drawing?

So I'm thinking spangles.

I thought I could draw a manga character
that would make everyone happy.

But in the end,
no one liked her at all.

This fancy paper
was wasted on me.

what other people think sometimes,

it makes you doubt yourself.

[Tater]
But what if they're right.

Well, then I guess you should
never have another idea.

you're happy with your work.

I can't make all my character's
muscles fit, though.

[all speaking indistinctly]

[Tater reading]

She can sleep in my bed.

She even named her Chuchi.

Uh... [giggling nervously]

that's an outdoor dog.

She's not trained
to live inside.

And I can train her.

I'm practically one myself.

Whenever Big Nacho wants
to teach me something new,

They're called Paw-letas.

with her dog friends.

sounded like the wind.

to bring me to the crevasse.
