Battle Bots: Fight Night

where it's always happy hour

and everything, including your
robot, is slashed in half.

KENNY:
Okay, as we dive into
the second half of the season,

the playoff picture
is starting to take shape.

We have an endless parade
of savage bots

lined up
for tonight's fight card.

Let's start with
tonight's main event,

I just have one thing to say.

Tombstone.
[AUDIENCE CHEERS LOUDLY]

CHRIS:
Yeah, that pretty much
says it all.

KENNY:
He's facing off
against whiplash.

I don't know how you feel
about public executions,

but if I were on team Whiplash,

I'd be praying for a stay.

CHRIS:
This is the tale
of a reigning champion.

The most feared bot
in the world,

versus a 19-year-old rookie

who's been so impressive
this year,

he's already earned a shot
to take down the king.

Will team Whiplash
rise to the occasion?

We'll find out tonight.

And the rest
of the match-ups are packed

with tournament implications.

We've got Ultimo Destructo
versus Witch Doctor.

The brilliant builder
Andrea Suarez had been battling

with her back against the wall

after starting the year off
with a loss to Yeti.

Witch Doctor wants to impress,
with more than just a win here.

They want to put
the unexpectedly 2-1

Ultimo Destructo six feet under.

We've also got
Charles Guan and Overhaul

taking on w*r Hawk and their
violent vertical spinner.

And if that weren't enough,

Chomp will square off
with Warhead.

Zoe Stephenson has had
a nightmare season at 0-3.

So, this is a desperate team
that will do anything

for a win tonight.

And leading off
in our first fight,

we have Rotator versus Skorpios.

Skorpios is a name being
whispered around the pits,

after their main event win
against Ice Wave.

As your saw earlier, both
of these teams are on the cusp

of the top 16,
so the winner takes a huge step

toward the tournament.

This is a big one,
so let's get right to it.

Here's Faruq.

Ladies and gentlemen,

It's robot fighting time.

In the red square,

I've done over 500
of these introductions,

and I just realized
something incredible.

That Rotator spelled
backwards is Rotator,

that's a palindrome,
and you know what?

That's pretty darn cool.

Get ready to get spun
to your death, it's Rotator!

[AUDIENCE CHEERS LOUDLY]

CHRIS:
Here's Victor Soto
and his robot, Rotator.

They're 2-1 this year,
with a loss to Petunia,

and wins over Predator
and Warrior Dragon.

Victor's hoping
those double blades

will triple his wins
here tonight.

In the blue square,

this bot's handed out
more buzzes than Supercuts.

Things might get hairy,
and definitely scary.

I once had a barber named Larry,
just once.

[AUDIENCE LAUGHS]
It's Skorpios!

CHRIS:
Here's team Skorpios,
they're undefeated at 2-0

after a controversial win
versus Ice Wave.

And they're looking
to ride that momentum,

to another W against Rotator,

Our own Jessica Chobot
caught up with the builders

before the fight,
let's take a look.

I really want to be able
to use the weapon this time.

Last time, our weapon's
safety lock restraint

got bent in the way of the arm.

So this time, we've got a new
weapon safety restraint system

all made up, it's home brewed
in the pits right here,

and it's gonna work great.

We're gonna go with
two blades spinning,

and we're just gonna go all-out,

we're gonna leave it all
on the match tonight,

and with our weapons,
we can be a real threat to them.

So, definitely gonna try
to get them from the sides.

We wanna go 3-1.
We wanna get into the sweet 16.

ROBOT:
Robots activate.

CHRIS:
So Kenny, I think you'd agree,

whoever wins
this fight is likely

to punch in their ticket
to the tournament.

KENNY:
Absolutely, Skorpios
showed against Ice Wave

that they can handle a powerful,
horizontal spinner,

so they need to control
this fight in that same way.

Meanwhile, Rotator has
impressed with those blades,

but we have some questions
about the reliability.

I'm looking to them
to prove they can go

the full three minutes here.

ROBOT:
Red team, ready?

[AUDIENCE CHEERING]

Blue team, ready?

[AUDIENCE CHEERING]

[MUSIC INTENSIFIES]

AUDIENCE [CHANTING]:
Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!

[BUZZER SOUNDING]

CHRIS:
Let the bot battle begin!

And here comes Skorpios
with a box rush right away.

Getting to the side of Rotator.

KENNY:
Risky move there by Rotator

to stay close to that wall,
but he's out.

[CHRIS EXCLAIMS]

Nice shot by Rotator,

that top blade
caught the neck of Skorpios.

Oh, Skorpios still advances!

CHRIS:
Skorpios being the aggressor,

chasing down Rotator
like a crazed fanboy.

Skorpios can't get a good lift.

Not yet under Rotator at least,

nice little spin from Soto.
That's a good shot there.

KENNY:
Skorpios getting underneath now,

waiting for that saw
but Rotator backs away,

frantic start to this fight.

CHRIS:
Big hit, Skorpios
might have it here, Kenny.

That scooper doing its job.

Here comes the saw, but
it's not looking 100 percent.

KENNY:
Something definitely
not right with that saw.

It doesn't seem to be
getting to full speed,

but Rotator doing a great job,
both blades doing damage now.

Oh!

CHRIS:
A piece of Skorpios
has come off.

KENNY:
Skorpios knows he has to fight
this kinda style, though, Chris.

He has to put this
full-court press on Rotator.

CHRIS:
Rotator holding up so far,
Kenny.

Skorpios still trying
to stay close to Rotator,

but Rotator not in danger
of hurting himself

like Ice Wave did.

Both blades of Rotator
just clipping high

on that weapon arm of Skorpios.

KENNY:
A little over a minute
and a half to go.

CHRIS:
Rotator hit him
with a hurricane there.

Oh! These hits are devastating!

Look, Skorpios has
got a hold of Rotator,

and Rotator gets a reversal.
Nice.

KENNY:
Yeah, he needs to use the box
here to jam him up,

and he's doing that.
CHRIS: But look at that,

that saw's got nothing, Kenny.

Skorpios in big trouble
with no primary weapon.

Whoa, a big swing and a miss
by the pulverizer there.

KENNY:
Skorpios needs
a plan B quick, Chris.

CHRIS:
I guess that plan B
is just to keep pushing.

Uh-oh, Skorpios is stuck, Kenny.

Rotator could go
in for the k*ll!

But what's he waiting for?
He's not your bestie, k*ll him!

But he gets out, he backs up,
now the k*ll saws are active

with under a minute to go
inside the battle box.

[BOTH EXCLAIMING]

There goes the saw blade.
There goes that primary weapon.

Skorpios has been decapitated,
unbelievable.

What a fight from Rotator.

Now it's just a pushing
and shoving match for Skorpios.

Rotator has both
primary weapons active.

Let's see if he can
take advantage.

KENNY:
There goes another
piece of Skorpios.

Unbelievable! Rotator,
with the fight of his life.

We've been waiting to see this.

Victor Soto doing
everything right tonight.

CHRIS:
Now the saw blade
gets a hold of Rotator.

KENNY:
And Skorpios, playing
for this judges' decision,

it worked for him last time,

but it could come back
to bite him.

CHRIS:
He's gotta get him
up in the screws.

The screws have
stopped momentarily

and Rotator gets away.

But Skorpios has gotta push
and shove around the battle box.

KENNY:
Look at that top part,

it's completely exposed
with Skorpios.

CHRIS:
Under 10 to go, and this one
will go the distance.

Does Skorpios have
one last push in it?

KENNY:
I don't think so, Chris.
Rotator is just too fast.

[BUZZER SOUNDS]
CHRIS: Rotator going for,

what it believes,
is a victorious spin.

Will it be, against
Orion Beach and Skorpios,

in an amazing first fight.
KENNY: Great fight.

CHRIS: It's up to the judges.

set the tempo early on.

We've seen this
from Rotator before,

he likes to start off on defense

and wait for his
opportunity to strike.

That top blade was able
to get above Skorpios' wedge,

so Skorpios wasn't able
to control the fight

like they did against Ice Wave.

And without that saw working,

Rotator started to get a little
bit of distance between them

and started striking
with that top blade.

Look at that!
There goes the saw blade.

There goes that primary
weapon of Skorpios.

Give credit to Skorpios
for staying aggressive,

but as we always say,
damage wins fights.

CHRIS:
Let's see if the judges agree.

And the winner,
by a unanimous decisions is...

Rotator!

Well, Kenny,
Skorpios may be facing

an uphill battle to make
the top 16 after that match,

but Rotator, ecstatic to end
his regular season at 3-1.

All right, coming up next,

Witch Doctor faces
a must-win fight

versus Ultimo Destructo.

And our sights are set
on the main event.

Tombstone is back
in the battle box.

He's ripped apart every opponent
so far this season,

and this time, he has
his sights set on Whiplash.

Right now, we've got Ultimo
Destructo and Witch Doctor

about to do the battle
inside the box.

All right Kenny,
Witch Doctor not only has to win

tonight's match
against Ultimo Destructo,

it has to be dominant to
impress the selection committee

if it wants to get in.
I think you're right.

Andrea and Witch Doctor
had some issues

with their motors early on.

But it looks like they've got
everything dialed in now.

That said, they're 1-1,
the pressure is on.

CHRIS:
Across the box from Witch Doctor

is Sean Irvin
and Ultimo Destructo.

They're currently at 2-1
this year, but Kenny,

there's a story here
that their record doesn't tell.

KENNY:
That's right,
the level of competition

in their fights hasn't
exactly been top tier.

Also, Ultimo Destructo
hasn't done much

to impress me in its two wins.

This is gonna be
a big fight for Sean Irvin

against an elite bot,
to show us that he's for real.

Let's get to it.
[AUDIENCE CHEERING]

In the red square,

from the great state of Florida,

where it just won
the Die-tona 500.

It's Ultimo Destructo!

No voodoo.

CHRIS:
Sean Irvin
and Ultimo Destructo.

This is a modular bot,
and it looks like

they're going with their flipper
for this fight.

They'll wanna get underneath
Witch Doctor

and put 'em on their head.

In the blue square,

she doesn't use tarot cards
or a crystal ball,

this witch uses a spell to maul.

It's Witch Doctor!
[AUDIENCE CHEERS]

CHRIS:
And here we see Witch Doctor.

And it looks like they ditched
their front wedge tonight Kenny.

KENNY:
So it's just
the flat front on there,

that allows them
to have more top armor

and sets their weapon up
to be the first point of contact

when these bots collide.

So we wanna go out there,
and we wanna prove ourselves

against an elite team and Witch
Doctor is exactly that team.

We're gonna try to get under him
and toss him up in the air,

give the crowd
the air show they love.

So we didn't put
the big wedge on.

We kept the rib armor
as considerable as possible.

And another big thing
that we did

is that our wedge normally
has a little lead in lip

on the front,
and we actually removed that.

So now the weapon
will be the first thing

to contact every time.

We really, really need
a knockout now

to prove that we belong
in the top 16.

ROBOT:
Robots activate.

CHRIS:
Both teams have a lot
to prove here tonight, Kenny.

KENNY:
Yes, they do, and Witch Doctor

isn't taking Ultimo Destructo
lightly.

They know one good flip could
end their tournament hopes,

so Andrea does not
wanna mess around.

[MUSIC INTENSIFIES]

AUDIENCE [CHANTING]:
Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!

[BUZZER SOUNDS]

CHRIS:
Let the bot battle begin!

Ultimo Destructo
very slow out of the gate.

Maybe eyeing its opponent

through one of those
m*ssile launchers.

KENNY:
Both bots feeling
each other out, Chris,

doing a little dance.
CHRIS: Here's Witch Doctor,

nudging him towards the screws!

Oh! Holy smokes!

KENNY:
Big damage to that side flank
of Ultimo Destructo.

CHRIS:
Witch Doctor looking
to get around the back.

Oh! Witch Doctor smells blood!

KENNY:
That tire is
about to get chewed up.

Whoa! There it goes!

CHRIS:
Oh! Look at that!

Break me off a piece
of that Kit-Kat bar.

Witch Doctor just flipped
Ultimo Destructo!

KENNY:
Oh-h*-h*! It's falling apart.

CHRIS:
The pulverizer's
coming in big time.

Are you kidding, he's getting
counted out already!

REF:
Five. Four.

Step on up,
who wants to hammer the bots?

One, knockout.
[BUZZER SOUNDS]

CHRIS:
That means Witch Doctor
was the only one

that was allowed to play today.

Kenny, it took about 15 seconds

for the robots
to actually make contact

and after that, Witch Doctor
did a ton of damage.

KENNY:
Not having that front wedge

allowed Witch Doctor
to lead with its weapon

and that thing
just took Ultimo apart.

CHRIS:
Well, Sean and Ultimo Destructo

stepped up to their big fight,
but you have to say,

they were punching above
their weight class,

and they laid a big, fat egg.

[CHEERING]

Kenny, we said it wouldn't
be enough for Witch Doctor

to just get a victory,
it had to dominate as well.

Yeah, I think I saw that.

Yeah, they are right back
in the hunt at 2-1,

and as for Ultimo Destructo,

we suspected those
two wins were hollow,

and I think we can put
their season to bed.

CHRIS:
Hang up the sign in Florida,
Ultimo's gone fishing.

All right, next up: Overhaul and
w*r Hawk are set to collide.

[CHEERING]

Overhaul and w*r Hawk,
each desperate for a win,

are putting the final touches
on their bots before they fight.

Both Charles Guan of Overhaul,

and Rob Farrow
of w*r Hawk are 1-1, Kenny.

Break this fight down for us.

KENNY:
This one is
a real clash of styles.

Overhaul is a large grappler,

while w*r Hawk
is a compact robot,

built around that 40-pound disk,
spinning at 200 MPH.

Overhaul is gonna wanna stay

on top of w*r Hawk
and control that weapon,

while w*r Hawk
needs to keep his distance

and pick his shots to get
that spinner up to speed

and do some damage.

This one's gonna
come down to driving,

and I think we're gonna see
a great fight.

Let's get inside the box.

In the red square,

going, going, Guan!

Here to hit you
hard against the wall,

tip your hats, y'all,
it's Overhaul!

CHRIS:
Charles Guan and team Overhaul

got off to a rough
start this year,

getting cut up by Saw Blaze.

But picked up a win
against Chomp.

Charles feels like he's finally
got all the bugs worked out,

and Overhaul's running
better than ever.

FARUQ:
In the blue square,

most birds
have the power of flight,

but this one has
the power to fight.

It'll put you to the test,
and kick you out of the nest.

It's w*r Hawk!

CHRIS:
There's Rob Farrow and a small
army behind w*r Hawk.

Kenny, what's that
little mini-bot there?

KENNY:
They call that little guy
w*r Stop.

Rob wants to use that mini-bot
to zip around the box,

get under Overhaul, and jam
him up for some big hits.

This is a make-or-break
match for us,

if we lose, we're out.

We have a pretty wicked
vertical spinner,

it can knock the bots
around pretty well,

Charles added a bunch
of armor to his bot.

Charles is a really
good driver of Overhaul,

I'm a pretty good driver too,

I think its gonna come down
to who has the better robot.

I don't have a good strategy
against verticals.

This is actually one
of the first kinetic matches

that Overhaul will be in,
so my margin

for messing up
is about this much.

I hope to go either
for the full three minutes here,

or get the knockout.

ROBOT:
Robots activate.

[AUDIENCE CHEERING]

CHRIS:
Overhaul doing some spins,

showing that unicorn
horn on the front.

KENNY:
Yeah, they're hoping to get that
into w*r Hawk's weapon chain.

We'll see how that goes.

[MUSIC INTENSIFIES]

AUDIENCE [CHANTING]:

[BUZZER SOUNDS]

CHRIS:
Let the bot battle begin!

And Overhaul on a bum rush,

just avoids the mini-bot
and goes right for w*r Hawk,

can't quite flip him over.

How about w*r Stop?
How quick is that bot?

Oh, big hit there by w*r Hawk!

And the unicorn horn has been

taken out of commission
by w*r Hawk.

KENNY:
Look at the side armor,
it's already off.

Now that side is exposed,
w*r Hawk is going to attack

that right side for sure.

CHRIS:
Unbelievable start
by Rob Farrow and w*r Hawk.

KENNY:
That is a devastating
vertical disk. Oh!

CHRIS:
Whoa! Now it's Overhaul's turn,
almost flipping him over.

KENNY:
w*r Hawk cannot allow--

CHRIS:
Uh-oh. Oh, right in front of us.

That was impressive.

KENNY:
He needs to avoid
getting flipped.

As of right now,
w*r Hawk cannot self-right.

CHRIS:
Which is unfortunate,

given he's up against
a bot who essentially

flips for a living, as
Charles attempts exactly that.

Whoa! Nice move there by that
vertical spinner of w*r Hawk.

Both bots have started well,
both executing their plans.

Pretty even fight so far.

KENNY:
Sure is, Overhaul
has turned the tides somewhat,

after w*r Hawk landed
that first blow.

Very even now.
CHRIS: And of course,

that mini-bot's
still hanging around,

forgot my mosquito
repellent today, Kenny.

KENNY [LAUGHS]:
Well, Chris,

I don't think w*r Hawk
is 100 percent.

He's lost some movement here.
Could be something wrong--

CHRIS:
Overhaul smoking because the
mini-bot got caught under it!

Burn, baby, burn!
Overhaul's high centered, Kenny.

What an ingenious move
by w*r Hawk.

w*r Stop with the kamikaze move
of the year, perhaps!

KENNY:
Wow, that was brilliant!

And that little mini-bot
actually has magnets

to stay low and tight
to the floor.

And, man, did that pay off
bringing that little thing.

Whoa! Huge hit by w*r Hawk.
CHRIS: Unbelievable,

as that little mini-bot,
w*r Stop,

perhaps giving its own life,
but look at it!

It's still moving around,
it sayin':

"Papi, I'm fine, give me
another chance to get in there."

KENNY:
"Let me at him, let me at him."

CHRIS:
Kenny, I didn't realize
you sang soprano.

Under a minute to go,
the k*ll saws are active.

KENNY:
He's underneath again,
look at that.

He's not allowing
Overhaul to move here.

Brilliant ploy from w*r Hawk,
given his main bot

is not 100 percent, Chris.

CHRIS:
Unbelievable strategy
by w*r Hawk.

KENNY:
And for anyone
at home thinking:

"What is he gonna do
with that little bot?"

That's exactly what he's
gonna do with that little bot.

Overhaul cannot move right now.

CHRIS:
Well, likewise,
w*r Hawk doing a little

crab walking here, both
bots having issues, Kenny.

Closing in on 30 ticks left,

Overhaul finally gets free.

Let's see if he can do any
damage in the last 25 seconds.

Trying to get a lift in
on w*r Hawk.

KENNY:
So many twists and turns, Chris,

w*r Hawk definitely damaged,
but Overhaul

unable to take advantage
thanks to that mini-bot.

CHRIS:
Oh! Taking another shot
with the vertical spinner.

Taking some saw blades
to the bottom as well.

k*ll saw's doing damage,
Overhaul gonna get it again,

if it doesn't move.

Three seconds left, and both
bots hold on, as this one

is headed for the judges.
[BUZZER SOUNDS]

REF:
We're done.

KENNY:
Wow!

CHRIS:
What an incredible fight!

The judges sure have a lot
to think about.

CHRIS:
Kenny, at the top of this fight,

w*r Hawk got the spinner
going and let loose.

KENNY:
That's right, he delivered
those massive blows,

getting Overhaul on his head,
and ripping off that side armor

but Overhaul managed to recover,
got some nice lifts in

and slammed w*r Hawk
against the wall.

But I think
the unsung hero of this fight

was w*r Hawk's mini-bot.

Their main bot was struggling
and their mini-bot went to work.

He tied them up, distracted them

and managed
to high center Overhaul.

That might be the best mini-bot
driving we've ever seen.

CHRIS:
Let's go down to Faruq
with the decision.

We have a unanimous decision.

And the winner is...

w*r Hawk!

So Overhaul falls
to 1-2 on the year.

w*r Hawk gets a much needed win,

Sharkoprion here

and get both of those spinners
into his wheels.

CHRIS:
Edward Robinson of Sharkoprion,

one of the more unusual
characters on BattleBots.

And Kenny, what's the strategy
when you bring a 250-pound shark

into the arena?

KENNY:
Against spinners like Gemini,

Ed wants to use
his tail defensively.

He thinks that if he feeds
that tail to their weapons,

it'll absorb the blows
and swing him around

to let his spinner
eat up their bots.

[MUSIC INTENSIFIES]

AUDIENCE [CHANTING]:
Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!

[BUZZER SOUNDS]

CHRIS:
Let the bot battle begin!

Gemini going after the tail,

Sharkoprion just
swatting it away.

KENNY:
It's like two pesky jellyfish
going for the shark, Chris.

CHRIS:
Whoa!

KENNY:
Fancy driving there,
just avoiding the hammers.

CHRIS:
Sharkoprion not knowing
which way to turn.

Where to look.

Sharkoprion trying
to roll over Gemini,

but getting hit
by that horizontal spinner.

And this is the confusion
of going one against two.

KENNY:
This is why Edward Robinson

wanted to use that tail, they
do attack him from the back,

try to use that tail to kinda,

swing and knock him around,
there he goes.

Not very effective there though.

CHRIS:
Oh, the shark floats above
one of the Geminis,

a few sparks there.

Sharkoprion having a tough time

trying to sink its teeth
into its opponent.

[KENNY LAUGHS]
Let's see how many shark puns

we can get into

Let's see if Sharkoprion
can try to get

Gemini to bump into each
other and destroy each other.

That's why Gemini is kinda
being a little bit cautious,

anytime they get too close--

Well, we saw Gemini do that

in their last fight
against Lucky.

for a little wheelie!

Had some sparks on that one.

KENNY:
Gemini just so pesky, Chris.

Sharkoprion circling,
as sharks tend to do.

Nice little pop there.

Nearly 90 seconds

Are you surprised that Gemini
isn't able to push Sharkoprion

around the box? Whoa!

KENNY:
Yeah, they haven't been
very effective

offensively here, Chris.

that's done some nice work.

KENNY:
Gemini really
can't figure it out.

Both bots being very cautious
in this fight.

CHRIS:
Whoa! Whoa!

Poor Gemini,
getting undressed with that.

Andrew, get away from me.

KENNY:
Was that friendly fire?

CHRIS:
I think it was. Oh!

Sharkoprion with a nice
little bite there.

Wow! There goes a tire.
Nice job by the shark.

Whoa! He's taking something out
of our floorboards there.

Whoa, Sharkoprion gets
thrown into the screws.

Well, things are finally
heating up here in the box.

This shark's had enough of this.

KENNY:
The shark's a little

that's not moving.

Both bots get hit

KENNY:
That one Gemini bot
is having a lot of trouble

driving without that wheel.

CHRIS:

at times during that match.

and YouTube star, Simone Giertz.

Kenny, Gemini started
circling the shark early.

KENNY:
Yeah, that's right,
the shark was actually

going around in circles,
really confusing Gemini

and had Gemini bump
into each other

and kinda took some pieces
off the bots.

Took off one
of the tires, as well,

and Sharkoprion showed
some good driving offensively

and defensively, using that tail
to knock around the bots.

CHRIS:
This is gonna be a tough call.
Once again, the judges

are going on a five-point
grading system.

One point each for aggression,
strategy and control,

two points for damage.

There's Zoe Stephenson,

and it's safe to say

Chomp's tournament chances
have been dashed.

But she has a chance
to get a statement win here

and spoil Warhead's
tournament hopes.

In the blue square,

this bot just flew in
from England,

and boy are its arms tired.

It's Warhead!

[AUDIENCE CHEERS]

CHRIS:
And Kenny, they're keeping
the dino head on for tonight.

KENNY:
Interesting choice,
I thought for sure

they were gonna come
with that spinning disk.

I mean, we've experienced
that bot firsthand,

that thing, when it's spewing
fire, man, get out of the way.

[CHANTING]
Warhead! Warhead!
Warhead! Warhead!

My guess is that they
probably wanna try

to keep Chomp on her side more.

I'm gonna try and modify
by turning the hammer down,

or having my teammate turn
the hammer down a little bit,

and see if that'll keep us up.

So a lower hammer fill
should still do a lot damage.

We figured it may have been
an easier win

with the spinning head,
but why make it easy?

Let's make it a little harder.

Any last words
for Zoe and Chomp?

Yeah, we're gonna chomp
on Chomp.

ROBOT:
Robots activate.

CHRIS:
Here we go,

these two bots are about
to light it up in here.

Kenny, do we have the fire
marshal on hand for this one?

KENNY:
I think he might've
run away scared, Chris.

This one's gonna be a scorcher.

[MUSIC INTENSIFIES]

AUDIENCE [CHANTING]:
Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!

[BUZZER SOUNDS]

CHRIS:
Let the bot battle begin!

KENNY:
And Chris,
with those jaws fully open,

it's gonna be hard for Zoe
to get a lot of leverage

with that hammer.

CHRIS:
Forget about leverage,

I'm looking at the barbecue
that's going on

in the center of the box!
KENNY: Oh!

CHRIS:
Are you kidding me?

Kenny, do you like yours
well done, medium rare?

What?! Place our orders now.

KENNY:
I think both of these bots

are gonna burn like crazy.

Yes!

KENNY:
Oh, nice shot from Chomp.

See, when the jaws are closed,
Chris, she can hit effectively.

CHRIS:
A couple of really
good strikes there

for Zoe and Chomp,
encouraging start.

Warhead's circling around--

Did that hit or miss?
Might've caught some tail.

KENNY:
We can already see
the stability though from Chomp,

it hit the floor
and it stayed upright perfectly.

This is a nice adjustment
here from Zoe.

CHRIS:
Big swing and a miss,

and now Warhead trying
to get a chomp out of Chomp.

Here we go,
that shot hit the bullseye,

Chomp is looking good.

KENNY:
Uh-oh, look at that,
big time flame.

CHRIS:
Warhead's got the hammer,

he's got the hammer,
he can hold it for 20 seconds,

and drag Chomp around the box,
but he lets go, tries to reset.

More than a minute into
this fight, a lot of action.

A lot of steam
coming out of that mouth!

Warhead on the attack now,
but Chomp fighting back.

Go, go, go, hold him,
hold him, hold him.

CHRIS:
Uh-oh, Chomp's susceptible now.

Watch out,
Warhead's got that hammer,

and is just crushing it
in its grill.

KENNY:
Wow, I think
Warhead's figured out

how to fight this fight,
Chris, go for that weapon.

CHRIS:
Now Warhead
trying to push around Chomp.

Chomp self-rights, what a move.

KENNY:
Beautiful defensive
driving there

from Zoe Stephenson and Chomp.

CHRIS:
Oh, that hammer landed
right on the beak of Warhead!

KENNY:
Nice attempt by Chomp,

but I don't think she's doing
a lot of damage.

Hold it on the side.
Fire, fire.

And again,
come again, come again.

CHRIS:
Now these two are tangled up

like burning car wreck,
Chomp's on her head.

That's not good for Zoe.

Can she self-right
from this position?

Warhead has got the hammer
in between its jaws.

It is now breathing fire as
we close in on a minute to go.

KENNY:
I can't believe
that Warhead is able to

put this much fire on Chomp
for this long, it's amazing.

CHRIS:
We should've put
some 'zas in Chomp,

she's like
a wood-fire pizza oven.

The k*ll saws are now active,
with under a minute to go.

These bots trying
to get dislodged,

so we will see more action.

KENNY:
This is what Warhead wanted,
wanted it on its side.

CHRIS:
Chomp, again, self-righting,

but Warhead just goes in
and holds, saying:

"You ain't going
anywhere sista."

KENNY:
Excellent grappling skill
here from Warhead,

very strategic driving
from the extremely intense team.

They've turned this
fight around, Chris.

CHRIS:
Less than 30 to go

and Warhead's gotta
release Chomp,

it's the 20-second hold rule.

He's trying to
back up and reset.

KENNY:
Well, this is a great tactic
for Warhead,

not letting Zoe use her hammer,
milking the clock.

CHRIS:
and a very exciting fight.

Can Chomp swing the hammer? Oh!

Huge hit!

Now Warhead is grasping
with those jaws of death.

Final few ticks, and the last
thing the judges will see is

Chomp in the mouth of a T-rex.
[BUZZER SOUNDS]

Whoo!

And this highly entertaining
bout goes the distance,

and will head
to the judges score card.

So Kenny, we know the judges
will be looking at aggression,

control, damage and strategy,
how did you see it?

KENNY:
For this first half
of the fight,

Chomp was getting that weapon
into the T-rex head

and turning down their hammer,
clearly kept them on their feet.

But in the second
half of the fight,

we saw Warhead change up
their driving strategy.

They were able
to keep their distance,

hold that hammer in the jaws,
and keep Chomp on her side.

I gotta say, Chris, even with
those hits she delivered,

it's never a good look
to end the fight

clamped in your opponent's jaws.

CHRIS:
Let's go down to Faruq
with the decision.

The winner
by unanimous decision is...

Warhead!

[AUDIENCE CHEERING]

CHRIS:
Well, after another loss
by judges' decision,

the nightmare of the 2018 season

is finally over
for Zoe Stephenson and Chomp.

KENNY:
Look, this was
a tough year for Zoe,

but she has a great bot,
the fans love her,

and I know she'll be back.
CHRIS: As for Warhead,

they took a risk
going with the T-rex head,

and it paid off.
They're undefeated and 2-0,

and building a good case
for finishing in the top 16.

Coming up,
we've got our main event.

Is Matt Vasquez ready to dance

with the devil
under the bright lights?

Both teams are back in the pits,
getting ready as we speak.

JEFF:
Whiplash is myself

who're taking their toys
and smashing them together.

and he de-domed Gigabyte.

It's safe to say,
he's feeling happy.

KENNY:
Well, he should be,

the reigning champ is doing
exactly what he came here to do.

He's on a mission this year
to win another giant nut,

and he's taking no prisoners.

CHRIS:
Standing in the way
of that tonight is Whiplash,

captained by Jeff Vasquez and
his two sons, Matt and Jason.

They're also 2-0,

with wins over Hypothermia
and Mecha Rampage.

And we talked to them
earlier today.

They said, "Listen,
no matter what happens,

it's win-win for us
tonight." Why?

It is,
they have nothing to lose.

Not that they have performed
well enough to earn a shot

at the reigning champ here
is a huge victory in itself,

it doesn't get
any bigger than this.

There's always the possibility
of an upset,

let's see if it happens tonight,
inside the box.

[CROWD CHEERING]

Ladies and gentlemen...

...it's time for our main event.

CHRIS:
Ladies and gentlemen,
your reigning champ,

Tombstone is here, and he's
looking ready to rumble.

KENNY:
He sure is,
there's that conveyor bot,

taking Tombstone into the box,
but it's not all limo rides.

Being the champ means you
have a target on your back.

For every fight,
each time in the battle box,

Ray and Tombstone are getting
everyone's best shot.

CHRIS:
Here's team Whiplash,
and Kenny, this has gotta feel

like the opportunity
of a lifetime for them.

KENNY:
Absolutely,
I don't think anyone

expected them
to get to this fight.

But Matt Vasquez has driven
circles around the competition.

And make no mistake,
they've earned this shot.

In the red square,

this legendary bot
belongs on Mount Crushmore.

It's bad enough to make you say
Hoover Dayum.

It's a national treasure,
it's Tombstone!

[AUDIENCE CHEERS]
Whoo!

CHRIS:
You know, when
you talk about Tombstone,

you hear a lot about
Ray Billings, but you don't

often hear about the
unsung heroes of this team.

There's his son,
Justin, on the left,

and long-time teammate
Rick Russ on the right.

Ray says he could never
do it without him.

FARUQ:
In the blue square,

congratulations,
this bot just proposed

a ring of destruction.

Every k*ll begins with K.

It's Whiplash!

[AUDIENCE CHEERS]

CHRIS:
There's Jeff Vasquez
with his wife and two sons.

Matt on the left. This kid
is a robot driving prodigy.

He's like the Kobe Bryant
of BattleBots.

Are you sweating at all,
are you feeling confident,

where are we?

No, we are so ready
for this match.

We're pumped, we're psyched,
the robot's ready.

We're gonna do Muhammad Ali,

float like a butterfly,
sting like a bee.

We've got a great
opportunity here,

we're gonna seize it,
and we're gonna k*ll Tombstone.

It's actually a decent
match-up for us.

He's really fast. It's gonna be
hard to get a hold of him,

but you can't escape me,
eventually he's gonna have to

take on the weapon and then
we'll see what happens.

ROBOT:
Robots activate.

CHRIS:
All right, Kenny,

sounds like Whiplash is
ready to take on the champ.

KENNY:
They'll need to get Tombstone
on the ropes fast,

and they might have
the skills to do it,

but it's no secret,
everyone knows

how you can beat Tombstone,
the trouble is,

no one can seem
to actually do it.

ROBOT:
Red team, ready?

Blue team, ready?

[MUSIC INTENSIFIES]

AUDIENCE [CHANTING]:
Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!

[BUZZER SOUNDS]

CHRIS:
Let the main event begin!

Tombstone already
with a huge hit.

Flying--

That was right at our heads!

That went right for my head.
Oh, my God!

Whiplash is on the attack.

He's driving Tombstone
into the corner.

He's got the champ on the ropes.
Oh, my God, Kenny!

Matty Vasquez is doing
the impossible.

Ah, but he let him go.
No, Whiplash, you had it.

KENNY:
Oh, oh. Huge hits, bot parts
flying everywhere, Chris.

CHRIS:
Kenny, we're gonna need
a bot medic.

Tombstone is flying around
the box, holy smokes.

KENNY:
Wow!

CHRIS:
He's taken a wheel off.

Tombstone has done that
to Whiplash.

He's lost the front tire.

Oh! Tombstone on its side,
moving all around the box.

You're kidding me!

KENNY:
Well, he wants to avoid damage.

He knows he's gotta play
the long game here.

CHRIS:
Hey, it's over because
Whiplash is down for the count.

It's in two different parts,
whip and lash.

The countdown is on.
Seven. Six. Five.

CHRIS:
Kenny, we're lucky to be alive,

We should buy a lottery ticket
and split the winnings 60-40.

That's a knockout.
[BUZZER BUZZES]

Winner!

CHRIS:
The champ marches on.

KENNY [LAUGHING]:
Dude, look at that.

Are you kidding me?

CHRIS:
Kenny, that was a minute

and 14 seconds
of hell on wheels.

KENNY:
This was absolutely crazy.

Whiplash came out
at the champ with no fear,

and it almost worked.

They had Ray Billings
on the ropes,

trapped against the wall,
as you can see here.

Tombstone in a very
compromising position,

but Matt Vasquez gave him
a tiny opening,

and Tombstone was out.

But that's the thing
about Tombstone,

when you back the bear
into a corner,

he's gonna come out swinging.

And Whiplash didn't stand
a chance once it connected.

[CHEERING]

CHRIS:
What a way to finish the night,

Tombstone and Ray Billings
planting that flag, saying:

"I'll take on any comers."

That was absolutely amazing.

And again, Tombstone continues
to be the bot to beat.

CHRIS:
Top 16 still a possibility for
the Vasquez family and Whiplash,

no question about it.
So that'll do it for us.
