[CROWD CHEERING]

Hey, everybody, and welcome
to BattleBots Fight Night.

And tonight it is the biggest,
baddest event of the year,

the final chance to earn a spot

in the 2018 world championships.

I'm Chris Rose,
and joining me is a guy

who delivered some huge shots
inside the octagon,

UFC star Kenny Florian.

Thanks, Chris. They don't get
much bigger than this.

I'm talking about
the bots and the stakes,

and tonight's fight card
lays it all out

like some kind of police lineup.

Every bout will make
a guaranteed impact

on the 16-team playoff bracket.

CHRIS:
And, boy, do we have
a treat for you.

Our final fights of the evening
will be play-in matches,

meaning there are
guaranteed spots

in the tournament
on the line tonight.

First, we'll see End Game,
w*r Hawk and Brutus,

three nearly identical bots

who all find themselves
on the bubble.

After each of them impressed
throughout the year,

it was too close to call
which one

deserves a tournament bid,

so this one's gonna be settled
inside the BattleBox.

Three bots,
a 15 seed on the line.

It's win and you're in.

And if that weren't
enough for you,

then the selection committee
doubled down.

Six desperate bots,
a 16 seed up for grabs.

We're calling it
the Last Chance Rumble.

It is gonna be
absolutely insane.

What a way to end
the regular season.

CHRIS:
We'll also see
two sets of multibots

when Gemini takes on
the Four Horsemen.

That's gonna be two teams,
five bots,

and if all goes according
to plan, one epic fight.

Plus, Skorpios will slug it out

with the wily Will Bales
and Hypershock.

But before we get to that,
we'll see a battle

between two of
the nastiest spinners

in this year's competition.

That's Icewave, with its
internal combustion engine,

taking on first-year
heavyweight design Huge.

Word back in the pits
is those wheels on Huge

might be indestructible,
but they haven't yet faced

a horizontal spinner,

let alone one of the most
powerful in the sport.

Icewave will be
their final test.

Faruq, take it away.

[CROWD CHEERING]

Ladies and gentlemen,

are you ready?

It's robot-fighting time!

[♪♪♪]

[ALL CHEERING, APPLAUDING]

In the red square,
it's the only robot

that needs an oil change
every 20,000 kills.

It's Icewave.

CHRIS:
There we see Marc DeVidts

and that 47-pound spinner
that rotates

up to 200 miles an hour.

We know it as Icewave,

but, man, it can really
bring the heat.

In the blue square,
powerful, plastic,

running spastic,

wheels up, it's Huge!

[CROWD CHEERS]

CHRIS:
You know, when Jonathan Schulz

and Huge rolled in
to this competition,

a lot of people thought
they were just a joke.

But it feels like the joke
might be on us, Kenny.

They're 3-0 on the year,
and with a win tonight,

would join Bronco, Bite Force
and Tombstone

as the only 4-0 teams in 2018.

The biggest thing we've
changed to is a shorter bar.

It rides above their bar,

so that way we will only be able
to hit the engine.

Also, if one of
the wheels comes off,

it still is able to spin.

So we can just drive in circles
and keep the bar spinning

and keep, kind of,
on the attack.

I think they're going
for our engine.

Our engine is not the heavily
armored part of our robot.

We gotta be careful.

So we just gotta
go around the sides

and just hit them
from the wheels

and just try to take them
down one layer at a time.

[CROWD CHEERING]

ROBOTIC VOICE:
Robots, activate.

CHRIS:
All right, Kenny sounds like
each bot's got a plan of attack.

How do you think this one's
going down here?

KENNY:
This fight's gonna be
all about positioning, Chris.

These are two
devastating spinners,

and I think it might
just come down

to who can land the first hit.

ROBOTIC VOICE:
Red team, ready.

Blue team, ready.

[♪♪♪]

[ELECTRONIC BEEPING]

CROWD [CHANTING]:
Fight! Fight! Fight!

[BUZZER BUZZING]

CHRIS:
Let the bot battle begin!

Icewave looking to get
that weapon up to speed.

Huge circling.
Who will draw first blood here?

Icewave trying
to get around the side.

Oh, it's taking away--
KENNY: We have our answer.

That thing can cut! Oh!
CHRIS: Oh! Uh-oh!

KENNY:
Right now Huge
is really suffering

from traction issues.
CHRIS: Oh!

KENNY:
This is not what he planned for.

CHRIS:
Okay, we're finding out
something about Huge

in the first 20 seconds
of this fight!

KENNY:
I think that's gonna be it.

CHRIS:
Unbelievable.

KENNY:
Icewave should hang back,

but listen to that blade,
he's cranking it back up.

CHRIS: Bring it on! Oh!
[KENNY EXCLAIMS]

It cut in two!
KENNY: This fight is over.

REFEREE: Ten, nine, eight...
Cut it? Okay.

CHRIS:
Here comes the countdown.

Marc DeVidts is all smiles,
and he should be.

....four, three, two, one.
KEVIN: Oh! Oh, my goodness!

That's a knockout.

[BUZZER SOUNDS]
KEVIN: Wow!

CHRIS:
Well, Kenny, Huge has had
a great run,

but the buck stops with Icewave.

That was flat-out nasty.

KENNY:
Yeah, we have our answer

in regards to those wheels,
whether they can withstand

a shot from a powerful
horizontal spinner.

Like Mike Tyson says,

"Everyone has a plan until
they get hit in the face,"

and that's exactly
what Icewave did. Oh!

CHRIS:
Unbelievable.

That one might be the shot,
so far, of the season.

KENNY:
Dead center,
direct hit by Icewave.

CHRIS:
And it's the second bot
they've split this season.

Nice to know
that Marc DeVidts's parents

taught him to share.

[CROWD CHEERING]

JESSICA:
Marc, come on over.

Well, that was the fight
that I've been waiting to see

this entire season.

Short and sweet, that's
the way we like it. Finally.

Word on the street was those
wheels were indestructible,

but it certainly did not
look that way.

It's a unique material
which bends pretty well

and deflects
instead of cracking.

And I think at a certain speed,

we've realized now that
that can crack.

But did you expect
to split it in half?

Not really, honestly.

We're going in with
a pretty dull blade here

because we've been through
three fights already.

To do something like that
is not what I expected.

Well, congratulations.
That was extremely fun to watch.

We've got Huge splattered
all over the BattleBox,

but, hey,
they finish their season

with a strong 3-1 record.

Let's hope they can rebuild

if they do indeed

All right, up next,
a fight that will feature

five bots when a pair
of multibot teams collide.

That's Gemini taking
on the Four Horseman.

And this will mark
the first time this year

that we'll see two sets of
multibots face off in the arena.

Let's take you inside the box.

[CROWD CHEERING]

In the red square,

your "goroscope" for today
is looking grim.

These two bots will
take you for a spin.

It's Gemini!

CHRIS:
There we see Team Gemini,

who's bringing in their two


One of them is
really fun and silly.

The other one, all business.

In the blue square,

it's the doomsday prepper.

Don't lose focus.

It comes at you
like a swarm of locusts.

It's the Four Horsemen!

CHRIS:
And now we get a good look
at the Four Horsemen,

who outnumber Gemini,
but they are

at a bit of a weight
disadvantage in this one.

It's kind of like
three 4th graders

picking a fight
a couple of 6th graders.

It's time to find out
who's king of the mountain.

How important is
this particular match

to get you into the top 16?

Every match is important.

Every match pushes you
up the ranking.

Gemini, they're new to it.
They don't drive awfully well.

They hit each other a lot.

So our strategy is
to run away, hide,

and hopefully
they'll bash each other up.

Are you feeling
pretty confident?

Oh, we'll knock 'em dead.

How important is this
particular win for you

in order to make that top 16?

It's critical. We're not
gonna make it without it.

But we have two really
powerful, really durable robots.

We think we can push 'em around
and give 'em a good beating.

[CROWD CHEERING]

CHRIS:
All right, Kenny.
Two teams, five bots.

How do you come out on top here?

KENNY:
Well, this is gonna be
a w*r of attrition,

and it may just come down to
which bots are the most durable.

[ELECTRONIC BEEPING]

CROWD [CHANTING]:
Fight! Fight! Fight!

[BUZZER BUZZING]

CHRIS:
Let the bot battle begin!

And here comes Buttercup
charging out of the gate.

Whoa!

Pestilence takes a shot,
so does w*r.

KENNY:
Shots everywhere!

CHRIS:
That's a double whammy
courtesy of Gemini.

KENNY: Oh!
CHRIS: Gemini with another hit

on Pestilence as Buttercup took
the other Gemini for a ride.

Kenny, you keep your eye

on the left side of the box,
I got the right.

KENNY:
Tremendous driving
by the Geminis,

using their wedges against
those little spinners.

CHRIS:
Pestilence
of the Four Horsemen's

weapon chain is dangling.

Oh, and Gemini
takes out Buttercup.

These two Gemini,
they are dominating so far.

KENNY:
Right now, for the Four Horsemen

the only horizontal spinner
that's working is w*r.

It's holding up so far,

but Pestilence is just
kind of a wedge bot.

It's getting knocked around
like a bumper car here.

CHRIS:
The Four Horseman need
to regroup, and fast.

And here comes the Gemini
with a coordinated attack

on the Four Horseman! Oh!

It's like a lightweight
against a middleweight.

KENNY:
And Gemini with the k*ll shot
there against Pestilence.

It's done.

CHRIS:
So it's Gemini against w*r,

and a piece of armor goes
flying off the Gemini.

It's the little guy
against two bigger dudes.

Oh, no, this one could be ugly.

KENNY:
Great job by Gemini
of thinning the herd, Chris.

They can afford
to take their time now

and pick their shots.

CHRIS: Oh!
KENNY: Oh, sparks everywhere.

CHRIS:
But how about this?
w*r is still ticking,

still able to move around
a little bit.

Oh! Some big damage
from friendly fire there.

KENNY:
Gemini, its own worst enemy.

CHRIS:
Whoa, Gemini sends w*r
flying across the Box.

And the other Gemini
is not moving.

So now it looks
like it's one on one

in terms of being able
to function properly.

KENNY:
Yeah, Chris, the weapon
on that black Gemini

isn't spinning,
and it looks like the red Gemini

has weapon function
but isn't moving.

CHRIS:
Oh! Gemini almost takes
itself out on the screws.

Uh-oh. Whoa!

Oh, w*r almost gets
thrown out of the box

but gets back in.
Just hit him, hit him.

CHRIS:
That was like a home run
hitting the top of the wall

and coming back
into the field of play.

KENNY:
Gemini has to be careful
taking these reckless shots.

It doesn't want take itself
out of this fight.

Oh, the k*ll saws
are getting involved.

CHRIS:
Yep, they pop out
with less than a minute to go.

KENNY: Ooh!
Approaching the 40-second mark,

and w*r somehow
has sill survived,

although it's taking a beating.

KENNY:
Why is w*r built like that

and Pestilence was out
with one shot?

CHRIS:
Unbelievable.

Gonna have to check
the definitions of these words.

Gemini looking
to finish the fight.

There's a shot on w*r,
but it hits itself again.

KENNY:
Now w*r looking for action
with the other Gemini.

Oh, he got bumped into
the pulverizer.

CHRIS:
Oh, it takes a shot on the top.

KENNY:
Oh, getting pinned
by the pulverizer now.

CHRIS:
And another one
right to the lid.

KENNY:
And here comes Gemini

with that weapon
cranking again.

CHRIS:
Nice shot.

An onslaught by Gemini in
the final seconds of this fight.

KENNY:
Wow.

[BUZZER SOUNDS]
REFEREE: We're done, guys.

CHRIS:
And somehow the Four Horsemen,
namely w*r, survives.

But it certainly
looks like Gemini

will get the W
as it goes to the judges.

And there is tonight's panel.

Naomi Kyle, Derek Young

and BattleBots veteran[/i]
Lisa Winter.

Kenny, we started
with five bots,

and then we actually started.

KENNY:
Yeah, it was a melee in there.

Gemini took out two of
the Four Horseman bots early.

And it looked like they were
gonna cruise to an easy W.

But as we've seen it do before,

Gemini inflicted
the most damage on itself

with that shot right there,

ripping that back wedge
clean off its twin.

CHRIS:
The spinner bot w*r
held its own.

Looked durable, but Gemini
dominated in the final seconds.

Let's see if the judges
reward them here.

[CROWD CHEERING]

The winner by
unanimous decision is...

Gemini!

Yes!
[CROWD CHEERING]

CHRIS:
So Gemini gets the win
over the Four Horseman.

And in moving to 2-2,

they now may have
an outside chance

at that top 16.

KENNY:
I'm not sure
their strength of schedule

will be enough to get them in,

but a great 2018 campaign
nonetheless, Chris.

All right, coming up next,
Skorpios

and that overhead saw
take on Hypershock,

the fastest bot on Earth.

And I'm told Skorpios
might be bringing in

a secret weapon for that one.

And after that,
we've got nine bots,

two fights and two playoff spots
on the line.

But first,
Skorpios and Hypershock

gear up for their huge battle.

Kenny, this is a do-or-die fight
for both teams.

On one side we've got
Hypershock, sitting at 1-2.

And for Will Bales, he considers
this not only a must-win,

but a must-win
in impressive fashion

if he wants to make the top 16.

He's taking on Orion Beach
and Skorpios,

who are hoping to move
to 3-1 here.

When we saw that bot last
inside the box,

it was getting ripped
to shreds by Rotator.

It was so bad that saw it had
in the middle of the bot

got cut down, and it's not
available for tonight.

So, what are they doing?

KENNY:
Well, they went out
and got a $40 angle grinder

at the hardware store.

The good news is
angle grinders are used

to cut through metal
and they saved some money.

The bad news is
it's not gonna be as effective

as their original weapon,

but that doesn't change
the game plan for Hypershock.

They'll wanna drive fast
and stay aggressive.

The bot has the ability
to do just that,

but reliability has been
a huge issue for them.

We'll see, it's kind of
a crapshoot for these guys.

Hypershock taking
on Team Angle Grinder.

Got one of those
around my house.

[LAUGHS]
Let's take you inside the box.

[CROWD CHEERING]

FARUQ:
In the red square,

this bot comes from
a builder named Beach.

It'll spring break you.

You'll chug too much fear,

get totally smashed,

and your painful pick

will end up on Slapchat.

It's Skorpios!

[CROWD CHEERING]

CHRIS:
And there we see Orion Beach,

who shares his name with
the constellation Orion's Belt.

With a current record
of 2-1,

he's hoping there's a win
for him in the stars tonight.

In the blue square,

when this bot orders a coffee

it gets a slap-uccino.

It'll grind you up
with its spinners

and pour you into an espress...
oh, no!

It's Hypershock!

[CROWD CHEERING]

CHRIS:
The always entertaining
Will Bales

and Team Hypershock,
wielding their trademark rakes.

They're looking
for Team Skorpios

to make like a tree
and get out of here.

KENNY:
Uh, yeah, it's "make like a tree
and leave," Chris.

CHRIS:
Oh. Heh-heh.

This is our last chance
to get in the top 16.

So we have to make a good show.

Not only do we have to win,

we have to win with authority,
we have to win with style.

We can't just hit them once
and sit and wait.

That's not gonna be good enough.

So we need to impress
the selection committee

and make sure we put on
a good show.

If we win this match,
we have a good shot

at getting into the final 16.

We stayed up all night
working on the bot.

It's a Frankenstein repair,
but it's gonna work.

We're gonna go after
some drive belts,

scoop them up and take them
all over the box.

And why are we holding
a plastic shovel?

Because you can't dig
a grave with a rake.

[CROWD CHEERING]

ROBOTIC VOICE:
Robots, activate.

[♪♪♪]

CHRIS:
Both bots need to impress

to catch the eye
of the selection committee

and crack the top 16.

[ELECTRONIC BEEPING]

CROWD [CHANTING]:
Fight, fight, fight...

[BUZZING]

CHRIS:
Let the bot battle begin!

Hypershock on the attack
early on.

KENNY: Oh!
CHRIS: Oh, yeah!

Skorpios gets the triple pike.
Perfect ten, Kenny.

KENNY: Oh, man!
CHRIS: Skorpios landed

right on that angle grinder
as well.

KENNY:
Yeah, that thing looks bent,

and it does not appear
to be spinning, Chris.

CHRIS:
Yeah, it's not spinning at all.
I have an angle grinder at home,

and I can tell when
it's not spinning.

So Skorpios without
a primary weapon

is gonna have
to get creative now.

KENNY:
Hypershock trying
to go right for it as well.

Oh, he's going for it.

CHRIS:
He's jumping up there
like my dog on that tree.

[KENNY LAUGHS]
Like there's a squirrel in it.

[IMITATES DOG BARKING]
[LAUGHS]

Skorpios still trying
to use that arm.

KENNY:
Uh-oh, that fork is stuck
from Hypershock.

CHRIS:
There's something going on
with that.

KENNY:
There we go, now he's got it
under control.

But check out Skorpios.
That hit hasn't slowed him down.

He's pursuing Hypershock
like a heat-seeking m*ssile.

CHRIS:
Orion Beach driving
like his life depends on it,

which it does.

KENNY:
I think Orion Beach
is a very underrated driver.

He's done a great job
here at BattleBots.

CHRIS:
Well, Skorpios almost
got a hold of Hypershock there.

He's using that arm
like a clamp. Incredible tactic.

Great improvisation on the run.

[KENNY & CHRIS EXCLAIM]

Hypershock rips off a piece
of that top armor of Skorpios.

Oh, baby!

KENNY:
That spinner on Hypershock
still cranking.

CHRIS:
Bits and pieces of Skorpios

are just falling out
inside the BattleBox,

but undaunted, Orion Beach
continues to be on the attack,

knowing that his playoff life
is riding on the line.

KENNY:
Skorpios doing a great job

of staying squared-up
to Hypershock.

CHRIS:
Uh-oh, Hypershock almost got
taken into the screws there.

KENNY:
Hypershock trying to get
that primary weapon,

that vertical disc spinner,
to spin up to full speed.

And Skorpios staying on him,
like he has this whole season.

Just very aggressive driving.

CHRIS:
Skorpios has found
a way to win fights this year

under the most challenging
of circumstances.

Can he do it again?

Under a minute.
The k*ll saws will be active.

Maybe Skorpios should grab
one of those k*ll saws

and throw it on its head. Whoa!

There it is, that was the
k*ll saw popping out of the box.

KENNY:
We're body-to-body combat
here, Chris,

Skorpios luring Hypershock in.

Orion knows this is where
this fight can be won.

Very intelligent driving.

CHRIS:
Oh, the k*ll saw!

Oh, it hit the underbelly
of Skorpios there!

KENNY:
Skorpios just so low
to the ground and...

Oh, here we go,
Hypershock has been flipped.

Can it self-right?

They only have one fork.

They weren't able
to self-right before. Oh!

Great hit there by Orion Beach
and Skorpios.

CHRIS:
It's Skorpios trying to get
Hypershock out of the box.

Oh, he's gonna pulverize him
a little bit!

Those 300-pound hammers.

Oh, there goes the saw,

but Hypershock's floundering,
gets beat up here.

Oh, nice maneuver there!

KENNY:
Orion Beach showing Will Bales

what great driving's
all about here.

This could be a knockout.

CHRIS:
No, there's under ten seconds
to go.

It's too late
for the count to start,

but it's certainly impressed
the judges next to the box.

[BUZZER SOUNDS]

What a final 40 seconds
for Skorpios,

as Hypershock finishes
the last 20 seconds on its head.

[BOTH LAUGHING]

And now the big question is,

how did the judges
see the fight?

Kenny, we knew
Hypershock was gonna be

hyper-aggressive from the onset,
and it showed.

KENNY:
Well, he had a nice start
to this fight.

He showed some good driving,
attacking the sides

and attacking the primary
weapon of Skorpios.

He disabled that angle grinder.
That thing dangling

like it was being held together
by electrical tape.

But then the comeback
happened for Skorpios.

He drove a very smart fight,

played the angles well
and even used that weapon arm

to push Hypershock
around the box.

This is gonna be interesting.

CHRIS:
Yeah, Skorpios made a strong
push in that final stretch.

And the lasting image
is Hypershock on its head,

getting pulverized and perhaps
saved by the final count.

Let's go to Faruq
with the decision.

We have a split decision.

Judge Derek scored
the battle for Hypershock.

[CROWD CHEERING,
SCATTERED APPLAUSE]

Judge Lisa scored
the battle for Skorpios.

[CROWD CHEERING]

Judge Naomi scored the battle

for the winner...

Skorpios!
[CROWD CHEERING]

CHRIS:
Well, Kenny, Will Bales
finally went the distance,

but it didn't work out for him.

Meanwhile, Skorpios is now 3-1.

Will we see them
in the tournament?

KENNY:
I don't know.
He took a ton of damage.

Who knows
if he'll even be functional?

Every fight,
when you count them out,

they just keep crawling back.

Good job by Orion Beach
and Skorpios.

Coming up next, three bots,

a 15-seed on the line.

That's three robots in
the BattleBox all at one time.

Only one can win and thus
claim the number 15 seed.

We've got Brutus in there.
We've got w*r Hawk in there.

The selection committee
couldn't decide

on who deserved a tournament bid

between these three teams
on the bubble.

Feeling a little indecisive,
maybe.

Kind of like me standing
in line at the buffet.

So now it's win and you're in.

Kenny, it's starting to feel
a lot like tournament time.

KENNY:
I can't wait to see
these three square off.

Three incredibly powerful
spinning discs,

CHRIS:
So we've got a lunatic
from Boston,

a monkey scientist
and a Kiwi k*ller.

And only one can walk out

with their championship dreams
still intact.

straight from Down Under,

his vertical spinner
brings the thunder.

You wouldn't wanna get into
a scrum with this young chum.

It's End Game!

[CROWD CHEERING]

CHRIS:
Jack Barker and End Game have
had an impressive rookie year.

A win here
and he's into the top 16,

which you have to think
could be a dream come true

for the 22-year-old
from New Zealand.

In the blue square,
soaring into the box for w*r,

this bird is looking
to even the score.

[CAWING]

It's w*r Hawk!

[CROWD CHEERING]

CHRIS:
And there we see Team w*r Hawk

with what's now become
the most popular

mini-bot in the sport,

w*r Stop, coming soon
to select stores near you.

In the green square,
this vicious wedge

is a bigger hit at a toga party

than John Belushi.

Toga! Toga! Toga! [/i]
[CROWD CHANTING]

It's Brutus!

[CROWD CHEERING]

CHRIS:
Brutus is probably
in the worst shape physically

out of the three bots
inside the box, right?

KENNY:
That's right.
You see that wedge?

It's very beat up.

Definitely a grizzled veteran
right there.

But he also had problems
with his motor as well.

So they've been doing
a lot of work in the pits.

ROBOTIC VOICE:
Robots, activate.

CHRIS:
All right, here we go.

So, Kenny, what's
the plan when you're fighting

against yourself, times two?

KENNY:
Well, I don't think
there's any bot

with much of
a design advantage here.

So I think it's gonna
all come down to driving.

They'll need to pick their spots
on when to be aggressive,

when to take
a defensive approach,

and above all else, be careful
not to expose their backside.

[ELECTRONIC BEEPING]

CHRIS:
Here we go, three bots come in,

only the 15th seed
comes out alive.

[BUZZER BUZZING]

Let the bot battle begin
for the 15th seed!

w*r Hawk hesitant
to leave its square.

All three just trying
to feel each other out,

see what the others are doing.

Now End Game gives
chase to Brutus.

Brutus looking at w*r Hawk.

There's the first bit
of contact.

KENNY: Oh!
CHRIS: w*r Stop goes flying!

KENNY: Oh!

just got upended by End Game,

and it might be game over
for Brutus.

KENNY:

Now w*r Hawk going after Brutus.

Wow, and w*r Hawk
just took Brutus

and threw it into the rail.

CHRIS:
Brutus cannot self-right.

End Game is not self-righting,

a double countdown!

Unbelievable!

KENNY:
Well, Rob Farrow believed

it was gonna come down
to the driving,

and that's exactly
what happened.

CHRIS:
Well, this started
when the mini-bot

got launched into the glass.

And then after that, End Game
with a huge hit on Brutus.

And that actually ended up
helping Rob Farrow and w*r Hawk.

KENNY:
Absolutely.
It seemed like w*r Hawk

got involved after
their little wedge bot,

w*r Stop, got knocked
out of the arena.

It seemed like it made him mad.

And then Rob went right
at the other bots.

A big mistake by End Game here,

turning its back on the only
other active weapon in the box.

And after w*r Hawk
popped End Game,

he said, "Let me go
after Brutus as well."

Rob was able to get around
to the back side,

flipped him over, that was it.

Pretty much one and done
for each bot.

Look at him attacking
with the backside, wow.

It gets very confusing when you
have multiple bots in there.

Rob Farrow kept
a nice calm and composed mind

and took out each
and every bot, amazing.

[CROWD CHEERING]

CHRIS:
Well, how about a send-off
for End Game and Brutus?

Two young, promising teams.

They each had an impressive
run here in 2018.

And for Rob Farrow and w*r Hawk,

that was the ultimate
one-two punch to wrap it up.

While the dust settles
in the box,

it's business as usual
in the pits.

The rankings
haven't been revealed yet,

but our builders
are still prepping

as if they'll make the top 16.

the robot back to 100%

before we slide into that

modifications to the frame,

Tormach CMC guys doing for us.

We're gonna have to cut out

Ray Billings and Tombstone
squared off against Whiplash

and their young driver,
Matty Vasquez.

All right, Kenny,
sounds like Whiplash

is ready to take on the champ.

KENNY:
They'll need to get Tombstone
on the ropes fast,

and they might have the skills
to do it.

CHRIS:
Whiplash came out of the box

and went nose-to-nose
with the reigning champ

and didn't even flinch.

Whiplash is on the attack.

He's driving Tombstone
into the corner.

He's got the champ on the ropes.

Oh, my God, Kenny!

Matty Vasquez is
doing the impossible!

Oh, but he let him go.

No, Whiplash, you had him.

But that didn't last,
and Tombstone

proved once again why
it's the baddest bot in sports.

the entire field,

that's a different story,

but if two or more bots
are still functional

at the end of the three-minute
round, it'll go to the judges.

And as always,
the emphasis will be

on the damage inflicted
by the robot's primary weapon.

sent against the screws.

KENNY: Oh, man!
CHRIS: DUCK! getting taken

for a ride by Lucky.

Red Devil and Bombshell
are hooked up.

Gigabyte gets sent
to the screws by DUCK!

KENNY:
Valkyrie's starting to spin up.

DUCK! just ramming
into Valkyrie.

CHRIS:
Whoa! Lucky having
some driving issues,

just sort of crab-walking.

Bombshell pushing
around Gigabyte.

Now Red Devil looking
to scrap with Bombshell.

KENNY:
Oh! Red Devil,
look at their treads.

CHRIS:
Bombshell with the shot
of the match so far.

Red Devil just took another
huge shot from Gigabyte,

as we're almost a minute
into this thing.

And Gigabyte takes another shot.

KENNY:
Yeah, Gigabyte holding up
pretty well

despite ramming into the
side of the box repeatedly.

CHRIS:
Red Devil out of commission.
Valkyrie having driving issues.

Gigabyte takes a couple shots
from Bombshell into the air.

aggressive team so far, Kenny.

a nice shot on DUCK!

Only half of the field
has a functioning

primary weapon at this point.

KENNY:
Oh, huge hit by Bombshell.

CHRIS:
But Bombshell looks to be
having drivetrain issues

as these teams continue
to scrap it out

for the 16th seed
in the tournament.

[KENNY EXCLAIMS]
Red Devil down,

Bombshell is down.

Valkyrie trying
to go after Gigabyte.

And here's DUCK! trying
to get on the offensive,

and it's smacked back
by Gigabyte.

KENNY:
Well, this is absolutely crazy.

I've never seen
anything quite like it.

CHRIS:
Valkyrie and Gigabyte
going at it.

DUCK! still very much alive
in this one,

looking for somebody to fight.

KENNY:
Gigabyte is stuck.

They're gonna be out of it.
Valkyrie about to be out of it.

DUCK! is gonna be
the only bot standing here.

CHRIS: We've got Bombshell down.
KENNY: Oh, Lucky's moving.

CHRIS:
Now DUCK! gets flipped
a little bit by Lucky.

Not much done there.

Lucky looks half-asleep.

KENNY:
Valkyrie still in this.

He's gonna try to ram
him into Gigabyte.

DUCK! almost able to ram
Valkyrie into Gigabyte.

He's going for it again,
and he does.

Bombshell rising from the dead

in the final seconds
of this match.

[BUZZER SOUNDS]
KENNY: Wow.

CHRIS:
And that's gonna make things
very interesting, Kenny,

as the judges will
have to decide

between DUCK! and Bombshell.

KENNY:
Great fight.

CHRIS:
Absolute anarchy inside the box.

How are the judges gonna
sort this one out?

KENNY:
Yeah, Bombshell delivered

our first big hit of the fight,

launching Gigabyte
into the screws.

Valkyrie sending
itself into the screws.

A swing and a miss right there.

CHRIS:
Then what might have been
the hit of the match,

Bombshell tearing the tread
right off of Red Devil,

who at that point
was down for the count.

KENNY:
And with a minute to go,
it looked like

DUCK! might be
the last bot standing,

pushing Valkyrie into Gigabyte.

Not sure who scores
the damage points there.

CHRIS:
But in the final seconds,

Bombshell sprung back to life,

forcing the judges
to decide between

the team that dominated
the first half of the match

and the team
that dominated the last.

Let's go to Faruq
with the decision.

The results of
the Last Chance Rumble are in.

CHRIS:
So Bombshell gets the win
and earns the 16 seed.

And Hal Rucker can't believe it.

It was an impressive
performance by DUCK!,

but apparently not impressive
enough for the judges.

KENNY:
And a unanimous decision
no less, wow.

All right, Judge Kenneth.
[LAUGHS]

Give me your call
on what you just saw.

That was a tough one.

It was DUCK! that really
suffered no damage at all.

I thought his driving
was phenomenal.

I thought his strategy
was excellent.

I can see why he is so upset.

However, Bombshell probably
did the most damage.

And as we know,
damage counts for two points.

All right,
now the bracket is set.

Bombshell is officially
the 16 seed.

They get a rematch with
Tombstone in the 1-16 matchup.

We saw w*r Hawk get the win
over End Game and Brutus

to earn the 15 seed.

And in spite of
getting split in half

by Icewave to start the evening,

Huge has also squeaked
into the top 16

with a 14 seed.

It is indeed a stacked field.
