This opening could be the doorway
to the answers I've been looking for

has discovered a cave opening
just 800 feet

above where a bloodhound
led the team.

The canine was tracking
the scent from a tree structure

possibly built
by the elusive beast.

I've never seen her
scared of anything.

The smell that's coming out
of this cave is insane.

The smell is unnatural.

I think that if a Bigfoot exists

they are subterranean.

They live in caves
just like this.

That is a huge, huge opening.

The other opening, other side
of that hill side.

This is the perfect way
to travel through this area.

This is very secluded.

Anything could live in here.

This opening may look small,
but I'll tell you what,

you'd be surprised what
could fit down a hole like that.

My gut tells me that
there's something here.

Whatever it is, I don't know,
but I do need to face it.

standing in the only escape route,

so if there's something in there that
wants to get out you give it no choice

maybe a deer or an elk or something,

but something has come down
in here and lived, and fed.

It's about a 12 foot drop
down there.

Looks like another room
opens up.

I'm gonna get down in there
and we'll have a look at that.

This opening is much smaller.

Even though
that opening is small,

it doesn't mean that there couldn't
be a Bigfoot habitat down there,

if there's another big
entrance on that other side.

I need to get down there

limestone geology of Kentucky

has produced over


Mammoth Cave,
located just 200 miles west,

is the world's
longest known cave system,

with over 400 miles
of underground passageways,

and the national park
that sits above it

was the site of a now famous
Bigfoot sighting.

In 2019, a man was so frightened
by what he believed to be a Bigfoot

that he fired his r*fle
at the figure.

[Russ] Mammoth Cave
has dozens of entrances.

If this cave is
anything like that,

there could be a whole underground
freeway that Bigfoot could be using

to get in and out
and around this area.

I want to get a hold of Bryce
and let him know about this cave.

I found a cave up on this draw

and I went down as far
as I could physically fit.

I could see that it opens up

here without having a second escape route.

the perfect hiding place.

It offers privacy,
and seclusion.

It's absolutely
the perfect place

for something that really
doesn't want to be found.

I'm gonna find another
entry or exit.

[narrator] One hour later, Russell
is scouring the northern face

of Pine Mountain Ridge, searching
for another entrance to the cave.

This is not a... easy climb.

[narrator] While Russell continues
his search, Primatologist Mireya Mayor

and researcher Ronny Leblanc
have just arrived at the cave opening.

- [Mireya] Whoa.
- You found it?

Holy [bleep]. Oh, my God.

- Whoa!
- Look at the depth of this cave.

Russell thought he had
smelled something,

some kind of stench
coming from this cave.

This is it. This is what that
bloodhound was smelling.

He was smelling something
that was going in there,

and I think we know
what that is.

[Mireya] The fact that there could be
this connecting cave system down here.

We got to go in there

In a situation like this, I am
really not a patient person.

and if they're in fact, in this
cave, we're going to find them.

That opening there,

We get into this small chamber
and I see this small hole

and looked down and realized,
you know, it's a significant drop.

[Ronny] I don't think I could,
squeeze in that.

I can see why Russ
couldn't fit down there.

- [Mireya] Yeah, it's a tight opening.

But it looks like
there are several drop downs.

- All right so the game plan is I'm gonna go down...

...see if there's any other
exit out of here.

looking for an entrance above ground.

I'm going to be looking for
another entrance from below ground.

This might be part of
a large cave system,

and also I want to see if
there's any signs of habitation.

[Mireya] The unnerving part of all this
is that while I've done a lot of repelling

around the world, this hole
seems too narrow and narrow

to the point where it feels like
it's just going to consume me.

- [Ronny] Damn, that's a tight squeeze. Jeez.
- It is tight.

- Whoa!
- What are you seeing?

- It is a drop, man.
- You be careful.

[bleep] It is so slippery.

Ronny... oh, my God.

[Ronny] Please be careful.

[narrator] Mireya is now
45 feet below the surface

attempting to descend
deeper into a cave

that the team believes could lead
to a massive underground system

that would allow Bigfoot
to maneuver through the area.

- [Ronny] Damn, that's a tight squeeze. Jeez.
- It is tight.

I barely fit in here.

It is a drop, man.

[Mireya] I'm looking down and
all I'm seeing is a black void.

[bleep] I have to feed the rope.

[Ronny] Are you okay?

[Mireya] It feels like the slightest shift
of a rock will just close up that hole,

leaving me completely cut off
from the rest of the world down there.

Oh-oh. It's slippery.

All right, I made it down.

I'm glad you're okay.

Whoa, this is a massive.

Wow. This'll is a really
great space

for something large that
wants to retreat and hide.

There are several species
of primates that live in caves.

They use 'em for protection
at night from predators.

They spend their days forging,
and then this is where they retreat to.

I don't see any signs
of habitation in this area,

but what we're really
looking for is a bigger entrance

'cause this is all good shelter.

Wow, this seems to go down
really low.

I see mud, so it bottoms out
down there.

But this whole place is just
hidden layer upon layer.

[gasps]

There's all these openings,
but no way out.

There could be another passage
to another cave through this room.

I'm already 100 feet below ground,
and I'm climbing on these rocks

and looking down and seeing
that there are huge pitfalls.

I mean, there are literal
holes in the ground.

This actually goes down forever.

There are just way too many
holes, crevices and pits to explore

in the time that I have.
I'm screwed.

I need to get back to the surface
and come up with a new game plan.

- [Mireya exhales]
- [Ronny] You are crazy.

That was insane.

So I didn't find an entrance, but
this cave could go much further.

- We need some help.
- We probably should call Bryce.

That's a good idea.

- Hey, Bryce.

[Mireya] I managed to get
all the way down to that cave.

That's incredible.

Were guys able to find any
type of indications of habituation?

Not that I've seen yet, but
there's a draft we keep feeling.

So, we know there's more to
this cave that we're not seeing.

[Ronny] Yeah, we knew this was
going to be a challenge,

but the terrain is just
unforgiving down there.

Look, I think the only way
to find out

if there's more to this cave
system is to actually have it mapped.

I thought about
the possibility that you guys

wouldn't be able to navigate
down there.

So I'm getting you some help.

I'm gonna send you guys
someone out there

who can perform a digital scan
of the entire cave.

Not only is he going to be able to pick up
anything that you guys may have missed,

but more importantly,
he'll be able to tell you

if the cave connects to other
chambers through another small portal.

guy out there as soon as possible.

[narrator] Just after dawn on
the final day of their expedition,

mapping expert Chad Studer
enters the cave

that the team believes
could be a Bigfoot habitat.

[Chad] This is really cool.

[narrator] Chad has come
equipped with a highly advanced

hand held Lidar Mapping System.

[Chad] All right, so
we're gonna use Lidar today.

Basically we're going to
preserve a digital model

of everything that we see
down here. So anybody that's,

unable to come down into this
space, we'll be able to look at it

on a computer.

[narrator] As the state of the
art compact scanner moves,

it fires hundreds of lasers
in every direction,

measuring and recording
every inch of the cave

with extreme precision.
Including the hundreds of pits

and holes in the large
third chamber.

We could descend in even deeper.

See how much farther this goes.

[narrator] The team hopes
this sophisticated system

will reveal if any of these
holes leads to another cave.

That's quite a bit deeper.

The map should be good.

All right, let's get back to the surface
and take a look at the 3D model.

[Mireya] I'm really excited
to see the Lidar results.

Once we look at the scans,

will have a really clear sense
of what's down there.

And that could potentially lead to
this other entrance that I'm searching for

that I could have easily
missed as I walked through.

So what are we looking at here?

[Chad] A digital model
of everything that we saw.

- [Mireya] Whoa!
- [Ronny] That's incredible.

Did you guys know there's three
different levels inside this cave,

and we could cut some
different sections here

to kind of show you
horizontally and vertically.

You know, if you want to look at
it, we do dimensions of anything.

- [both] Whoa!
- Oh, my god.

[narrator] Using the
Lidar technology,

Chad has produced a three
dimensional digital rendering

of a large cave system

that goes down hundreds of
feet below the earth's surface.

Of the three chambers
that Mireya explored,

the third is by far the largest
at over 400 feet in length.

This third one, as you
could see was just rocky

and very, very difficult
to terrain through here.

That's the room
with all the holes everywhere.

Here at the end
was an incredible

black hole basically. I just
couldn't get down any farther.

So it's possible that,
that void continues.

It absolutely continues.

I don't know where
that could even lead.

We just don't know
what's beyond that point.

Well, the fact that we're
seeing a black hole there,

and that technology
couldn't see past it,

I want to go there.

This is going to be the
only way to find a larger exit.

So, if there's something
that's connecting it

to the outside, an entrance,
something, then I want to find it

and I have to go down there
to do it.

to see where that goes.

to a cave system
that could be a method

for Bigfoot to travel

That means there's another opening

That looks like it could be
a cave entrance.

Right now, going up into this,

it looks like the perfect place
where the other entrance

to the cave could be.
Anything could be down here.

void right here.

Probably goes back
eight feet or so.

This whole area right here

looks like it's been laid in.

Even the dirt and leaves are
pressed down. So, it's been used.

That's longer than your
typical bear hair, or deer, or elk.

That's some pretty good
length to it.

All right, I'm gonna grab up
that sample.

[narrator] Last year in Oregon,

- Russell discovered a hair sample...

...that when analyzed,
offered promising details.

With alleged Sasquatch hair,

one of the most telling features
is a lack of a cellular medulla.

I don't see the medulla.

That's a lot of hair.
That's long hair.

I'll let somebody
who has the knowledge

go through those samples
and find out what it is.

I'm really excited I found this hair,
but I need to collect it and keep moving.

Just because I didn't find
the cave entrance here,

doesn't mean I won't find another
entrance along these ridges.

[narrator] Two hours later
at the command center,

Bryce Johnson follows up
on an eyewitness account

of a large jawbone
found near a local cave.

My dad found a jawbone, and he
held that jawbone up to his face,

I mean, it was huge.

- It was that big?
- It was that big.

I asked him, was it animal? He
said, "No, this isn't an animal."

He said it's something
we don't know.

Skeptics of Bigfoot say,
"Where's the bones?

There's never any bones
to be found."

But here, talking to Nancy, she
said her father did find a bone,

and it was this huge
lower mandible.

They sent it away for analysis.

Unfortunately, I believe
they lost the sample,

and I want to talk with somebody
who knows more about this area.

So, there's a guy named Jim Vieira
who's done an extensive amount

of research on large skeletal
remains all across the United States.

[narrator] Jim Viera, a stonemason by
trade, made huge waves among researchers

when, nine years ago he
put forth a controversial theory.

After discovering over


mentioning the discovery
of human remains

of enormous stature,
and many more examples

in academic
and historical texts,

Jim developed a theory

that the Earth may have once
been inhabited by a race of giants.

Maybe these giant bones
that he's finding evidence for

could in fact, be
bones of a possible Bigfoot.

I wanted to talk to you, Jim, because
I recently spoke with a witness.

She told me that
her father discovered

just outside this cave
this huge lower mandible

that practically
fit over his face,

and I was wondering if

what it is that
they might have found.

I have literally hundreds of
accounts of just that anatomic anomaly

of the jawbone
fitting over the face.

So, that didn't occur
in isolation.

It's ubiquitous
the country wide.

Are you saying that there's
a skeletal record of,

of large bipedal humanoids?

Absolutely. And not just in
this country, around the world,

documents mention
over and over again

giants existing
as a historical reality.

So, that's
well beyond coincidence.

- Also, virtually every religious document

or oral tradition talks about
giants being a reality.

Okay, so what do we know
about these giants?

The reports mention strange
and specific anatomic anomalies

- like massive job bones, double rows of teeth...
- Right.

...unusually thick skulls,

and a rare genetic condition
Called Polydactyly.

Extra digits.
Six fingers, six toes,

often associated with giants.

In fact, down at Judaculla
Rock, in North Carolina,

you guys are down South I know,
there's a rock art with seven digits,

and the Cherokee Legend
was that Judaculla was this giant

with seven figures
and seven toes.

Once again, this genetic
condition of extra digits.

And the South East is filled
with these accounts of

giant skeletons being found
in caves and other places.

Of course, understood.

I mean, it's hard not to think
when you're talking about

measurements of seven, eight, nine feet tall,
that we're not talking about Bigfoot here.

Absolutely. The native
oral traditions are all

speaking of giants and Bigfoot.

No question about it,
all around the US.

So, if these accounts of giants
from some of most reputable sources

are representation of
the Bigfoot creature.

Quite possibly.

And so, we could be talking
about the same thing here.

to what this thing is and implicates.

found this inside of a cave.

It strikes me as just not
a natural occurrence.

It's a very large handprint,
it looks like.

What's the scale?

Twelve inches, by about
eight inches across.

This is huge.

I mean, it just dwarfs my hand and I
can clearly see, what looked to me like

the knuckles are actually
impressed in that.

What grabs my attention is,

does it look to you like
there's a sixth digit?

Above broken off, the other

what would be a knuckle mark,

or the impression underneath it.

- Five fingers plus the thumb.

That's what it looks like to me.

Wow, that's wild.

Six figures, six toes.

Is that you know a representation
of the Bigfoot creature?

Quite possible.

Now I'm even more pressed
to take in this artifact

and get it expertly analyzed,
especially since they found near a cave.

This could be a point
in our expedition,

where Jim's research
about giant skeletal remains

and our research about
Bigfoot intersect.

[Mireya] We're about 100 feet
down.

the surface,

Mireya is traveling through the
long and rocky third chamber,

searching for the
uncharted black void

that she saw on the Lidar map
of the cave.

This opening is really small.

This could lead to another cave.

a tiny portal, Mireya has entered

another much larger cavern

was big, but this chamber is massive.

This room is creepy.

All these drips coming off from there,
mean that we're under a water table.

Which, if there's enough of it
could support a large mammal.

There's so much more to explore.

[Bryce] Should be another
mile or so up here.

So I'm on my way to meet with an
eyewitness named John Caldwell.

John just lives on the other side of
the mountain from the cave entrance,

and I'm hoping he can tell me

all about the Bigfoot activity
in this immediate area.

- I'm doing all right, man. How are you?

- You wanna hop around the back.

So, John, I understand
you had some recent activity

where you might have
seen a few things.

- Yes, I have.

Well, first off, let me start
with what my cousin told me.

He told me that his co*n dogs, three
or four of 'em had come up missing.

He said, come over here and
look and see if we can figure out

what's taking these dogs.

And... it had took the dog,
chain, collar and everything,

and drug it off.

There's an old cat road there.

Me and him went up there,
whenever we got up into the cat roads,

there laid the chain
with the collar.

Whatever it was was
tearing the heads of dogs

and just taking the bodies and
leaving the heads just laying there.

- Wow.
- [sighs]

- Had you ever seen anything like that before?
- Never.

No, no. Right beside it was
like 16, 17 inch footprints.

So apparently it was getting
'em dogs and eaten 'em.

And, he took the rest
of his hunting dogs

and moved them right down
next to the house.

[Bryce] And where
did this happen?

Where were the dog heads found?

Matter of fact, right up yonder,
on the other side of the mountain.

The team I'm with
is there in a cave right now.

[Mireya] These areas here
would be pretty inhospitable.

But down here, you've
got an area where it's flatter.

There's actually leaves on it
that could serve as bedding

and then, you'd certainly have
good shelter and a hiding spot.

There's no telling
how far this goes.

I looked down and see more
openings, more floors, more levels

and this would be
an amazing space

for a large animal to take
shelter and be able to hide in.

What I am worried about is,

will we find that entrance,
and what is using that entrance?

I think these creatures could
be using these cave systems

to hide out or take shelter?

Yes, I do.

No matter if it's


or 110 outside,
it's 60 degrees in there.

- What better place for 'em?

But I wouldn't go in it.

You know, I hear that story
about these dogs,

and obviously there's
an element of danger there.

I mean, do you ever feel threatened
by some of these encounters,

your life's in danger?

for almost three hours now,

so I'm getting a little
worried at this point.

another entrance to a large cave system,

One of the things that makes
water really drinkable

is that it's not just
sitting there stagnant.

So, it's moving water.

This just dead ends.

The stream runs and just
goes completely underground.

going to lead me to an exit.

I really thought there was
going to be a way out.

Now that I know that this is a
dead end, there's a real sense of loss

in walking away from here
empty handed,

not really knowing
that we can come back to it.

up here for a few hours

and really not finding
anything that's tangible.

day for another cave entrance,

Russell is running out
of options.

I've got to get hold of
the team,

let 'em know that I haven't
found any other cave openings yet.

- Yeah, that's right.

Hey, you guys are the
Expedition Bigfoot?

You're out here
looking for Bigfoot, right?

[Bryce] You know what,
we actually are, yeah.

[man] I was going to give you a
little info that might help you out.

[Bryce] Yeah, absolutely, man,
I'm always looking for information.

[man] I was in the Air Force,

and about 1990 we had training.

It was an elective training
course in Washington State.

And as we're heading out,
our instructor said,

I might as well go ahead,
tell you guys now,

I don't know what you think about
Bigfoot, Sasquatch, but they are real.

The government knows about 'em
and they're in this area.

- They're in the area?
- Absolutely.

- Was he joking around about that?
- Absolutely not. Not this guy.

There's no reason for him to.

Why do you think
he told you that?

He said, "You know,
if you do see one",

"don't engage it because we had
guys in a training class previous

and they did engage it,
and it did not end well."

What do you think
he meant by that?

I don't know. We asked,
what do you mean?

He said, "It did not end well."

That's how he left it.

I mean, there's been a lot
of unusual disappearances

and they have no answers for,

and they probably know
these things could be behind it.

I mean, that's an incredible,
credible thing that you're saying.

The implications are huge.

You know, I've heard rumors
that the government

may be aware of these things,
but this is the first time

anybody who served
in the active military

- have told me that they heard that first-hand.
- First-hand.

looking for, but at this stage,

briefed him to be on the lookout

for large, hairy humanoid
figures known as Sasquatch.

know about these creatures,

may have proof.
