a lot of spots in my gps.
I call it speed prospecting.
It's like speed dating,
but instead of searching
for dates, you're searching
for places to mine.

If I see some good gold,
I'm gonna, like, note it
and move on.
And then I'll map that in
the gps and be like, "okay.
I'm gonna make a decision
by the end of the day.
Should I keep dating claim 56
or is there another claim
out there that's
a better match for me?"

about claim jumping.

so the definition of
claim jumping is working
on someone's land
that you don't have permission
to be on.
Just so you know,
it's not good to claim jump.
So right now I'm gonna
bring in a specialist
on the matter, brad kelly.
Come on and explain.

I really don't know
a lot about this subject,
but I have been out there and
had a few instances where
I've been accused
of doing that.
So what are the dos
and don'ts of this?
What do people...
Let's just say, they run
into that situation,
the dos and don'ts.
Let's start with don't. First
of all, don't get caught.
That's the first
of the don'ts, okay?
Don't get caught.
The second don't is
don't admit to anything.
Admit you broke down.
"I broke down,
I got engine problems."
even if the dredge
is running full blast,
just tell them you're trying
to get a rock jam out
that's caught
between the motors
and you're trying
to suck it out.
Make up any story, they'll
believe it. People are stupid.
They're like cattle,
one leads, they all follow.
And then, uh,
always blame the other guy.
Just say, "I thought
you were in charge
of the coordinates."
"I thought I was in charge
of the coordinates,
and we don't even
have coordinates."
you're doing
a smack confusion.
Yeah, you know, moving on
to the next thing.
These are the top five
excuses for when you're being
accused of claim jumping.

I try and use the stars
to navigate all the time,
but during the day,
it's tough.
You know, it's tough,
you can't see the stars.
The tides have shifted and
we've moved off course. Yeah.
