dad's mom is from Panama and my dad's

Scotland is where are your ancestors

from we're all from the Philippines

which is different in just about every

way from Scotland we are in the tropics

so we have beaches and warm temperatures

I didn't know until today that I'm

almost half Scottish and Kevin just

found out that he's Irish and German

we're all practically related my family

is Scottish Irish and German on my mom's

welcome thank you thank you what a

wonderful instrument well that's quite

an interesting outfit you're wearing can

you tell us what it is all about yes i'm

wearing a traditional Scottish kilt it's

made out of wool there's about eight

yards of material in it and originally

they used to wear the kilts all the way

around the back and up around over the

shoulder so that Scotsmen could keep

themselves warm at night as a blanket

and during the daytime they could wear

it as their normal outfit what about

that well this is called a sporin and

typically we put money in there if we

have any or other gadgets snacks or

things like that and the hat this is a

Scottish balmoral balmoral cap and we

use that to basically keep the rain off

our head and the sun out of our eyes

what is the bag pipe made of ebony or

rosewood and both those woods come

usually from Africa and we have other

things here we have the the leather bag

here this is made out of cowhide some

leather bags are made out of elkhide or

deer hide what kind of sounds do the

pipes make well the bag pipes make lots

of sounds u they make sounds out of

these three drones here uh two of the

drones are the same third one's much

longer than the other two they make the

low humming background noise that you

hear and in here is what we call the

chanter and it has a read in it that

makes the high pitch melodies you might

notice all the different holes on the

chanter and these holes sound much like

a flute when you play a flute how does

it work well what I do is I blow air

through this blowpipe here into the

bag which fills up and allows all the

air to go through the different drones

and through the chanter that's how we

make the noise can you play something

for us sure how about if I play the

unofficial Scottish national anthem
