today we've got a very exciting guest

for you Sheila E and a lot of really

going to be playing the drums today

you and amaze you with a knowledge of

percussion instruments our first video

dance called the conga these conga drums

were originally created in Africa they

have a distinct

sound and the conga dance has a very

distinctive beat like this

traditional Mexican folk song you'll

notice that it has a very different

pleasure to be here you began playing

instruments at a very early age right

right i was uh 3 years old when I first

started uh touching the the percussion

instruments and then I started playing

at the age of 5 years old with my dad is

your dad a musician yes he is he's a

percussion player what did you learn

first i learned uh an instrument called

a conga would you like me to demonstrate

please okay i started off playing like

this just playing and then I learned

other uh patterns

you got a good rhythm thank you very

much can you demonstrate those for me

sure we can come over here this is

called a shake and this is from Africa

and you play it like

this and you hit the bottom to get that

sound like that yeah this is called a

kabasa you can play this many different

ways you can play it like
