Paley I'd like to welcome Chuck Jordan

and his radical monster truck survivor

Chuck for joining us today Well thank

you for having us Well how did you

become a monster truck driver well a

good friend of mine back in 1989 got me

interested in the sport and we've been

having fun racing ever since And how did

you choose the name Survivor well my

daughter chose that name cuz we always

try to survive the races that we go to

How do you get up there well we get in

right underneath the door here Maybe

you'd like to give it a try Sure

Almost up there

Wow it's cool in here What's the

furthest it's jumped a little over 15

car lengths 15 car lengths Uh-huh And

how high about twice as high as you're

standing right now Here's a good example

Wow US hot rod vents like this there

could be anywhere from 10 to 15 or 20

trucks there And uh whoever can get over

the cars the fastest is the winner Do

you love driving it i love driving it

Can you tell us more about your truck

well certainly It uh it's approximately

12 ft wide and 12 ft tall and the tires

are 5 1/2 ft tall and they weigh 850 lb

Wa That's a lot Yeah And the truck

weighs 10,000 lb And the motor is a

1,400 horsepower injected alcohol motor

Does it have special safety equipment

yes it does I wear a complete fire suit

helmet neck brace I'm fastened in a

five-point harness And we have a remote

system where they can shut the truck

down in case something happens to me I

get knocked out or something A track

official can push a button and

completely shut everything down on the

vehicle Has it ever fallen over no I've

been real lucky Has any others fallen

over before yeah there's been quite a

few of And you know what no one has ever

been hurt when that's happened because

of all the safety equipment that we are

required to have Get a tiger Ladies and

drove a 7 1/2 ton truck That's a pretty

big truck on two wheels for 6.73 mi in

Sweden Number two the most powerful tow

truck the Hulk is 36 feet long and as

long as three regular tow trucks and can

lift 70,000 lbs And the number one most

fascinating fact about trucks is that

36,000 horsepower reached a speed of 256

mph in just 6.36
